My local restaurant, literally in the Saggart village! I enjoy catching up with my pal there, we are meeting up once a week there for a dinner.I love my fish so I usually go for a fishcake or prawns. Staff is very friendly. Location is great City West Hotel is literally next door so if anyone is staying for the night then dinner in Anvil is a must! This restaurant is very popular by locals, it's not cheap but reasonable. If you are from the local area then it's definitely should be your new favorite restaurant!

I had lunch with colleagues today and we went to The Anvil. To be brutally honest, I have experienced better. One star for the service : Waiters were friendly and the waiting time was reasonable. One star for the location : The place is cute, the sits are comfortable, nice location for a quick bite. No star for the food : I had a beef burger. There was a slice of tomato and lettuce on the side. The slice of tomato did not taste like tomato but more like water with an off-taste. Then, the burger itself was actually burger bread with beef inside glued to cheese. The meat was a preparation with beef and onions mixed together. I like to have the option to remove the onion but oh well. The taste was just disappointing. When you order meat you expect a meaty taste. And here, it was a weird combination... I ate because I was hungry, but I wasn't satisfied. The fries were nearly yellow from being fried too long. The taste was nothing like potato. That's what a frie is, right? It's a chunk of potato fried. It should be at least. I am usually an easy customer, I do not complain or if I do I have a good reason. I thought it would just be me but then my colleagues admitted they were not too happy either. The vegies tasted funny as well... The sprites and the tap water was fine though :) *** UPDATE : I wasn't feeling too good during the afternoon, and I told myself I had a long working day. But when I came back home, I felt seriously dizzy with a bad stomach ache. It happened yesterday and I feel much better today. I do NOT recommend this place at all. I remove 1 star ***

Excellent service with a good attention to detail. Servers always topping up your coffee with a smile and happy to make alterations to any meal without any hassle. Food quality is very good with many healthy options...or they can change a dish to be healthy! Regular for breakfast and lunch here and Gav never had a complaint. Want us try dinner soon as their menu looks excellent and will post another review when done

Great little spot near Citywest Hotel. I love to try local places when I travel. The restaurant looks to be newly renovated and is just lovely. I had the Chicken Caesar Wrap with a side salad and fries. It was all very nicely prepared and delicious! The free wifi was a plus!

Really very nice. The chicken wings were outstanding! Had the cod happy hour special and it really was fantastic. Good size potions, price good, service was excellent! And not to mention the pints of Guinness! Oh yeah!

A friendly restaurant with good food. We only had brekkie but it was certainly tasty. The wait staff are always willing to go extra. Lovely!

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

Our first meal in Dublin was at The Old Mill Restaurant, right in the heart of Temple Bar. It's been serving traditional Irish fare since the 1980s and has become a favorite stop for both locals and visitors looking for classic comfort food. After about a 20-minute wait, we were seated in the warm, inviting dining room. Susan ordered the mussels, one of her favorites, while I went with the Traditional Irish Stew and my daughter chose the Braised Beef & Guinness Stew. Both were exactly what we hoped for: hearty, flavorful, and perfect after a day of sightseeing. I finally understood why the Guinness stew had such a rich, dark color, and I have to admit, I came home a big fan of Irish stew. We finished with the Homemade Bread & Butter Pudding topped with fresh cream and custard, a comforting dessert that was the perfect ending to the meal. Service, atmosphere, value, and food were all five out of five. We also enjoyed chatting with the floor manager, whose pride in the restaurant and his team was obvious. That kind of hospitality made a great meal even more memorable.

We asked about the soup flavor & they offered a taste and brought out a huge sample boat. Super cool. I got the cottage pie lunch portion, which is more than I could barely eat. It came with a boat of the sauce /and gravy and meat. Wife got the fish and chips... The fillet was longer than the plate and it came with a mountain of fries, both delicious. Daughter got the creamy vegetable soup and chips. She loved it but couldn't even finish half. All the portions were very generous, nobody finished their meal, too bad we couldn't have taken it back to our hotel. Server was great & funny. Love this place.

The whiskey sour was tasty & strong and the Guinness was smooth and perfectly chilled. I had been tentative to have lamb but we finally ordered it and wow was it the most tender and flavorful cut of meat. The sides and gravy were grand. I wish I had had my dog with me so I could give him the nice bone afterwards haha. We also ordered hot wings and surprisingly they were much better than what one gets in the states. The dessert was good and the bartenders helped us find a cue ball so we could play pool for a while. The atmosphere was nice because it wasn't a bunch of tourists but felt more like real suburby Dublin. We might go back to Ireland just to eat at this restaurant again :)

After eating an excellent meal, we discovered the other end of the large restaurant had a full service restaurant, so there was more than cafeteria style available. The servers at the cafeteria line were cheery and fun to watch at work as they expertly served the plates to order and sent them down the line. Even with the large crowd, we had no trouble finding seating.
