Had to check out the castle right away to see what all the buzz was about. It's unique, for sure and has potential to appeal to locals and tourists. Lucas was our server and he was attentive and helpful. Totally appreciate him and the service. We had a lot of questions because the menu doesn't make much sense. Is it California? Is it southern? Is it Asian? Where are the fresh, non fried, local ingredient options? I'd have ordered more of the shared plates if there was something veggie forward (think carrots, radishes,green beans) and had less ingredients that are unrecognizable or give the essence of heat (is it Japanese/korean/thai who knows?!?) The grit cakes were good although they lacked a textural or fresh component beyond garnish. I'd love to see them replaced with something like a curry arancini or kimchi mac & cheese balls. The cauliflower steak was great, simple, pretty to look at and had a nice composition of texture and flavor. No notes. The purple sweet potatoes that accompany some of the entrees were excellent. But, while cooked nicely, the salmon dish was underwhelming. It could benefit from an added component like collard greens to cut the sweetness. Didn't order the chicken Milanese although it was recommended for those who don't have a spice tolerance. It just simply seemed too boring for what was supposed to be a fun upscale night out. Would love to see a yuzu sauce included to jazz it up. The sober spritz tasted like orange soda--too syrupy sweet and could benefit from a hit of acid like adding mimosa vinegar to it and more soda water. Give it a round ice cube with dried flowers inside and then you'd have a sober instagram hit on your hands. Finally, I didn't get around to trying the cocktails, they look fun though. Since it's the "only full bar on the 46" it would be really nice to have suggested cocktail pairings on the next iteration of the menu. There is some serious talent in the kitchen and on the team at The Anderson so I'm confident in recommending others check it out. But, I hope that it evolves quickly and they tap into the abundant creative resources, fresh ingredients, and flavor profiles that are right at their finger tips moving forward. Bring in irresistible and farm to table shared plates paired with cocktails/mocktails and I'd be there on the patio every week. read more

It's beautiful and the service was great. Pros - Dog friendly - the staff were so sweet to our dogs. Chicken Milanese - very well cooked, crispy and paired well with the arugula. Cons - The fountain - poorly constructed, splashes onto guest. The menu - very confusing. Small menu, but multiple cuisines that did not seem to complement each other. I had such high hopes for this new exciting restaurant. Nope, didn't happen! Let's start with my cocktail, a signature Old Fashion "All Fall Down", super sweet, and even with a huge ice cube in it, it was super small. The other person at our table with the same drink was almost double the size, still super sweet, not made very well. Next let's go to the appetizer, Corn Cheese Dip served warmish almost cold, sort of a sweet/savory creamy dip served with chips. Although it had good flavor, it most definitely should be served hot! Moving onto the hamburgers three of us at the table had ordered, all barely cooked. I cut mine in half after preparing it with sauce and the pickles that came with it on the side and realized this. I had to ask for it to be sent back given it was so red, I was basically told it was my fault because the menu states they will be cooked medium unless I asked for something different. I could have dealt with medium, but not raw! They did take it back and told me they would fix the order. When it returned, it was my same exact burger, (cut in half because I cut it after preparing it) stripped of the pickles and the same cheese from it all over the sides of it! I'm not sure, but it seems when you send something back that I touch, cut in half and prepared, it's a health hazard, not to mention tacky to recook it. It was put on a new bun and served with new pickles. Same fries on the plate, now cold returned with the same old burger. For a 25.00 burger with fries, you'd think they'd do better! The other two at the table decided to eat it basically raw. The Po Boy Shrimp sandwich looked amazing, but little to no flavor. Again at 24.00 nothing to write home about! This place has to do better! The concept is good but execution, not at all! They're not short on staff, lots of super friendly staff! I gotta give it to them for that!! read more

What an amazing brunch. Made my sunday. Live music 11-2. Started off with a dragonfruit mimosa for 11. You can opt for a mimosa pitcher for 55. We decided to come here for my Birthday. What a nice time we had besides all the delicious food and cocktails. Our waiter, Lucus was the BEST! We felt like we had made a friend when we left. We had a glass of French Bubbly before ordering. Delicious! My husband ordered the Garlic Noodles with Shrimp and I had the Shrimp and Grits. They were both fabulous dishes. Nice glass of Pinot with dinner. When dessert came, theyhad a nice treat for me. A vegan cheesecake with pineapple on the top. Closed up dinner with a Dirty Martini for me and a Whiskey for my husband. We will definitely be back and will bring friends. Brunch on the patio with live music at the Anderson is a hit! The Chicken biscuit was sinfully delicious. The biscuit is perfectly baked and isn't your average overly fluffy floury biscuit. It's crispy, crunchy and full of flavor. The home fries were crunchy and satisfying, too. The breakfast poutine is what brought us in for brunch, and it delivered! The curry gravy has layers of flavors and made me want to lick the plate. And the cheese curds had so much cheese pull I had to cut them. It's the kind of dish that makes you continue to think about it and crave it all day long. Then came the hoe cakes which had a lacy texture that was irresistible. The lightly sweet saltiness of the butter pairs so well with miso. I couldn't finish them so I brought them home and they were just as good the second day. The biggest surprise came last: don't sleep on the overnight oats! Warm spices mix with creamy texture and perfect pops of crunchy granola. We recently held our second event at The Anderson in Paso Robles, and once again it was a wonderful experience. This gathering was a 12th-century themed history lesson on the Knights Templar, and the castle setting could not have been more perfect for the occasion. The room we used was beautifully prepared, and the tech equipment worked perfectly for our PowerPoint presentation, which made everything run very smoothly. The charcuterie boards were also a lovely touch--beautifully displayed and more than enough for a light lunch while fitting the theme nicely. The service throughout the event was prompt, friendly, and accommodating, which made the entire experience easy and enjoyable for our group. For $25 the burger was...a burger nothing special. I ordered medium and it was a bit uncooked but just okay. The Karagge chicken was horrible. Very hard shell and the chicken wasn't good inside either. We returned it right away. The drinks were pretty good. The Shrimp Po boy was basically 4-6 shrimp with Cole slaw and a pickle in some relish. Again, overpriced and tasted like you put a few prawns on a roll with some Cole slaw. They seriously need a good chef and if they're going to include Asian inspired dishes, they should be made by a chef that knows how to make authentic Asian cuisine. The chairs are like sitting in a wicker basket and have zero support, so expect to lean forward while eating. read more

I recently went to the Anderson and I was impressed with all the dishes I had. I was there for a catered event, and everything I had was tasty. The service was top notch, and I loved my Negroni made with local made Vermouth. I see some reviews that might not be so favorable. Its a new restaurant and there will be some hiccups with that. I am glad we now have a a place to grab a quaility lunch or dinner when we are wine tasting without having to go back into Paso. read more

I've been to The Anderson twice now and I am planning a third visit soon. I think the menu is interesting and varied. You can tell if a restaurant really cares about what it sends out of the kitchen and I think it's apparent that they do at The Anderson. It's also great that they have a full service bar. Had to see what all the hype was about so I Took my mother here for Mother's Day . Let me start off with the menu . It is very limited most of the menu is fried food so not very healthy . If you're gluten free your choices are limited . If you are vegan you have two choices. We split a shrimp appetizer and yes it was fried it was good though . Then we split the grit appetizer fried again wasn't that great . I had the cauliflower steak vegan dish it was very good . My mother had the special French toast with fried chicken . Not sure about the combination but she seemed to like it . I personally was not impressed with it . We don't d try the bread pudding with matcha sauce I thought it was alright my mother thought it was a little dry and she was not sure why the heated it up so she pretty disappointed in that . The reason why I have low stars was because we had so many gnats and flys around our food I was losing my appetite . We did mention it to the server but it went the wayside . I would recommend if you sit inside do not sit anywhere near the doors to the outside . Two people in our party had two of the non alcoholic drinks one was with mint leaves it tastes like a mojito without the alcohol it was really good . The other one was some kind of orange hangover drink that was good for being non alcoholic.. one thing I thought was pretty cool was how many mixed non alcoholic drinks they had for the ones that still want a fun taste but without the alcohol. They had the same with beers too .
