This Canadian is finally trying some American Poutine Gilbert Feastival!
    Say M.

Let me preface this review by saying I am Canadian AF and if you cut me open I'd probably bleed cheese curds and poutine gravy. Finally got to try American Poutine Co by catching them at Gilbert Feastival. I was super excited because I love that they've brought poutine, a dirty Canadian staple, to the desert. Unfortunately have a few critiques on their poutine which ultimately missed the mark for me! Poutine is pretty much a delicious SLOP of fries, drowning in gravy with cheese curds that are squeaky bouncy fresh, yet also softened from the piping hot gravy. For me there just wasn't enough gravy. Next, it wasn't hot enough to adequately soften the fries OR cheese curds. Overall, this made the texture of the whole thing all wrong - as it was too crispy and dry, cheese curds were cold and hard, and there were a lot of uncoated, hard fries at the bottom. I'm not sure if they choose to make it this way since a sloppy slightly-mushy poutine isn't maybe what Americans customers think they want. But that's what makes real poutine amazing - it's a sloppy dirty mess of deliciousness and when you get down to the bottom of the tub the fries should still be sitting in gravy! Maybe next time I could ask for extra - but I'm still glad American Poutine Co exists, and I would definitely give em another shot to try and win this canadian glutton's heart.

I often drive up to Tempe for school related activities and I never go without stopping at at least 3 places to eat. I went to The American Poutine on a whim since I realized it was a hot minute since I'd had the taste of delicious gravy soaked fries in my mouth. I got the original flavor, as I'm a creature of habit and need someone to gas me up before I venture out of my comfort zone. It was served in a nice sustainable paper/cardboard box (+1 environment yay!). Perfect amount of gravy and the curds were très bon. I'd give this place a five if it weren't for the crispness of the fries. Typically, I prefer a light crunch with my poutine but the fries were on the heavier side of the crunchy scale. Nonetheless, delicious! And the guy working there was nice Photos are edited with VSCO or Lightroom and may not be true to color lol

My wife had the bacon poutine and loved it. They asked her if she needed more gravy so the6could give her a side of it. Nice that they didn't skimp, and she said it was awesome sauce!

Awesome food if you love Poutine. A bit salty on some occasions, but never a disappointment for good poutine. Staff were all friendly and expedient to get your order right and ready to go.

I've lived in Phx for 4.5 years now. Moved from Canada and have yet to find a place that serves authentic poutine! I've been craving it for sooooo long and this place hit the nail on the head! I got the original poutine because I wanted to be able to compare it to what I know from back home. It was exactly what I was hoping for. Delicious thick gravy that was so hot it melted the cheese curds, and crispy fries! Will definitely back!

Yet again I have found another hidden gem in this food truck. I will say I stepped out of my comfort zone trying this place because I'd never had Poutine not was I really sure what it was. Yeah yeah lame right? After talking with the women taking orders and asking some questions I decided on the Buffalo Chicken Poutine. Really great flavor with just enough kick to it. I couldn't finish the entire thing because it was such a huge portion so I shared with a coworker. Goes to show trying new things can be very tasty.

I love their food!!! The cheese curds are so fresh and amazing. I've had many different dishes and every one has been amazing. My favorite dish is the veggie works. Just wish they were closer to me or came to the west side more!!!

Came in with the family for poutine. Ordered chili fries, buffalo fries, original poutine and the chicken tenders/fries box for the kids. I asked the girl working how big the chicken order was and was told it was 4 strips and lots of fries. The menu says "juicy, breaded, 100% chicken". The order came out with 4 dried up tiny little nuggets. I checked to see if we got the wrong order and was told that they didn't have the strips and are substituting the nuggets. Not sure why this info wasn't given up front. 1 strip would probably equal all 4 of these nuggets. And they definitely weren't juicy 100% chicken. Had to go to Del Taco after to fill the kids up.

I'm soooooo down!!!! Team veggie Team fried chicken

This was a very nice time. I enjoyed the service and the staff Was amazing. I went late afternoon which was nice, cause it was quite and a quit warm environment. I'd recommend this place to all my friends. I'll be back!

Not only does the food suck (Had it at the Scottsdale Beer Fest) but just had the driver of the truck cut us off where we had to slam on our brakes and swerve. My kids started crying from getting scared. Would never recommend this truck to anyone.

I always order them wherever we go. *The G&G double burger--my fiancé was in heaven and thoroughly enjoyed the fries too. * Pasta Pomodoro with waygu meatballs--9/10 my SIL loved it. *Harvest bowl with salmon--10/10 very refreshing and tasty. Salmon was cooked to perfection. We had 3 cocktails each and tried most of their cocktail menu--we loved all our cocktails...some more than others. As a cocktail connoisseur--would definitely come here for just cocktails. We tried the honey apricot cheesecake--strongly recommend WOW. And the orange olive oil cake--very good but not honey apricot cheesecake good. Overall this place exceeded our expectations for a random Thursday night dinner. My fiance was on the fence for trying a "healthier" type restaurant and was blown away. We will be coming back to try breakfast and pizza next time!

Parking 5/5 Always a challenge but coming early and doing the circle dance landed us a nice space across from the Liberty Market. Atmosphere 5/5 Such a cool restaurant with allot of history dating back to 1935/1958/2008/2022 which reflects the years of the establishments service and architecture evolutions. Always a great vibe here! Service 10/5 Our experience tonight began with the beautiful and friendly hostess Bailey. She greeted us with a warm smile and asked us what our seating presence was. We grabbed a booth overlooking Page street and the foot traffic outside. Our server tonight was Treven who joined us table side. He had our drink and starters in quickly. My wife ordered the Lucky Penny Latte and I had iced tea. Starter was their out of this world Burrata. The photos fall short of its glory. Entrees was their memorable minestrone soup, and I ordered their sesame ginger noodle salad featuring sweet potato glass noodles which are delicious and a host of smartly paired vegetables, chicken and a pleasant ginger sriracha delivering some spice and heat without overpowering the dish itself. For desert we fell way off the wagon with their in-house carrot cake. A slice easily feeds four and we enjoyed ours with espressos. Dinner was excellent from the service to the scratch kitchen food, and expressos, Magnifico! $125.00 with tip and leftovers too. Date night my friends-SYOY!

The queso was rich without being too heavy, and the mustard added a nice contrast. For my meal, I had the Caesar salad topped with a bistro steak cooked a perfect medium rare. The romaine was crisp, the garlic-anchovy dressing bold, and the garlic croutons and parmesan tied everything together. The steak was tender, flavorful, and elevated the salad. At the table, we also ordered the cheesesteak with Angus beef, roasted peppers and onions, Havarti cheese, and garlic aioli served on a baguette, with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was hearty and satisfying, and the fries were really good The wagyu burger was another standout--topped bacon, Gruyère and smoky blue cheese, caramelized onions, tomato jam, and garlic aioli on a pub bun. The beef and bacon were fabulous and the fries cooked to perfection Jake, our server, was terrific--attentive, friendly, and helped make the whole experience even better. We came in with our family and three kids and sat on the patio since we were a larger group. After eating, our kids were sitting in chairs near our table, chatting and moving around a bit. The woman was shaking her head and saying to the waitress "this isn't okay to be doing while people are eating", pointing toward our kids. Once I realized this, I immediately called my kids back over and had them sit with us, and I even let her know that if something was bothering her, she could've told us and I would have addressed it right away. The couple chose to ignore us and left shortly after. The manager then came out and reassured us that Lucky Lou's is a family-friendly restaurant and that our kids were absolutely fine. That meant a lot to us and really showed how supportive and understanding the staff is. I also hope one day that couple realizes how hard it is to keep a 4-, 6-, and 8-year-old sitting at a table for more than 30 minutes without shoving an iPad in front of them.
