I take this train every morning and it's always hit or miss. One day it's smooth sailing the next day you get to work 2 hours late. I wish it was more consistent but it's gets me where I need to go. read more

Express service to Manhattan in 40 mins flat. I kid you not, it was a miracle! However, like all miracles, this was seemingly a one-time only event and ever since, a memory. So what is the point of having a clunky old train (these are some of the oldest cars in the entire MTA btw) on a elevated track in Queens? Simple, it's the only thing the MTA will give us commuters living in Northern Queens. Also, sometimes, on off peak hours you can enter a nearly empty car perfumed with the smell of tangerines instead of hobo. On days when sunshine comes after the rain, the view from the train is especially lovely. When I was growing up, I would always go to the first car and stare out of the front of the train, pretending I was a superhero and I could fly. The train also passes by all the quintessentially Queens landmarks, most of which haven't really changed (I'm not looking at you, CitiField) in the past 20 years. So it's a clunker, and getting on it during rush hour is a guaranteed bad time, complete with old Asian people sleeping all over you. But it's the only "subway" I've got and that's alright. read more

The 7 train gets 2 stars for as I said before in my quick tip no ratsies on outdoor platforms & ability to chat on my phone! However, however, however, because I work in Flushing, I know this train like the back of my hand but sometimes I wished I didn't have to know it:(!! I get quite frustrated w/the loud cell phone users who have no consideration for other passengers & cause me to blast my IPod & risk losing my hearing! Ugh! I hate getting off at Mets-Willets point, which seems like every other day, to wait for another flushing bound train because my previous train decides to go elsewhere!! I mean if u know the train's final station is not Flushing, DONT SEND IT OUT!!! I confronted a conductor about this issue & he blamed it on the headquarters or central station that sends various msgs about stops, delays ahead, etc to them. He said that they supposedly never know in advance that the train will have to so... YEA RIGHT!! that delays ur trip about 5-7 mins believe it or not, so as one reviewer said give urself about 10-15 extra mins for travel! Trust me u don't want to learn the hard way, like I've had to :(!!! And last, but certainly not least getting off at Main Street, maaaaaaan what a workout! U know considerate people would let passengers out & then go in,but not boarding people in Flushing, that would just be completely oooooooooout of character for them! And the shoving & pushing to exit the train especially in the morning is just annoying & really pisses me off especially for the fact that I often see those same pushers once out of the station slowly walking to the store, to Starbucks, to one of those terrible smelling restaurants, to Duane Reade, I mean seriously people! But what's interesting is that my huge tote for work or my shoulder/arm just somehow ends up nudging people back, I just can't seem to figure out why that is, lol! So the verdict: expect delays, expect to get off at Mets Willets Point if ur on a flushing bound train, bring ur iPod, a friend& a nose clipper to block out the "noise" and the often times terrible smelling food:( and brace urself w/a tote bag & using ur upper body strength to get out of there! If I didn't work outthere and it wasn't rat-free I certainly would have never taken a ride on the 7 train! Bklyn girl4life:) ;)!!!! read more

I really only use this train one stop from Bryant Park to Grand Central, when I'm trying to catch a Metro North train right after work and I'm pressed for time. It's a pretty convenient crosstown train, and it should be a lot better when they complete the expansion out west. Another reason it's convenient: it's the only train that'll take you to Citi Field. Love how there are "super expresses" that are available after the games are done - it makes getting from Mets-Willets Point to Queensboro Plaza a breeze! My one regret is that I never utilized this train to continue my authentic/ethnic food pursuits - I have to constantly wipe the drool off my face and my keyboard after reading the Yelp reviews for all these awesome places in Flushing! read more

Not my daily ride, but I have gone the entire length of the 7 train on a couple of trips to Flushing. The best part of this train is that the majority of it is on elevated lines, so you can get cell phone service on the train. You also get great views of Queens and the Manhattan skyline, and the famous "Silvercup Studios" sign. The trains on this line are older, like the ones used on the A/C line, or the 1/3. Air conditioning works fine, though the trains themselves are extremely rickety. Be careful if you are standing, since I almost fell over a couple of times due to the train jerking around. Weekday schedule looks nice, since there is an express service and a regular service. Weekends seem pretty hit-or-miss, but not the worst. This train serves several important neighborhoods in Queens, most notably Flushing, Jackson Heights, Long Island City and also service to Flushing-Meadows Park and the arenas there. It takes about forty five minutes to get from Flushing to Manhattan on the local trains. read more

The flushing 7 train station has become overcrowded during rush hours. I am thankful they have finally installed access points for cell towers and free wifi. But the overcrowded station is still a pain. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes to even get to the stairwell due to the overcrowding of people exiting the train. I fear for something to happen one day as the means of egress is not sufficient during rush hour times. Despite the overcrowded subway. The station is sufficiently clean. I've had no problems with the machine terminals. read more

I'm sorry, but I hate this train more than almost any other train in the city. This is based on my having to ride it from "Coast to Coast" for a year (after a transfer from a LONG ride on the Q25). Maybe it's just the PEOPLE on the train that I hate. Seriously. What is WRONG with the people at Main Street? Every morning I wondered if it would be the morning that I would be pushed onto the tracked to meet my doom or up against the slow moving train to get my face scraped up as it came into the station because these people were ALREADY trying to get on the damn train. Take it easy! God forbid the express came in on the middle track and it was like roulette waiting to see which side the doors would open on. If it was your side, people would just funnel in, not caring what germs others had and what bodily harm they were causing. It was brutal. If it were the other side, people crowded even more up against the still closed doors just waiting for them to open so they could pour in once they opened. The reason this train gets even 2 stars, is that despite the extremely smelly, extremely RUDE people on this train, it DOES take me to 2 important places: Shea Stadium & Joe's Shanghai. P.S. I LOVE being stuck on the tracks waiting for a train to leave the station, while watching the local train that was once 10 minutes behind you pass by merrily. P.P.S. Why are the stairs so narrow at Main Street?!?! read more

I've been riding this damn train for YEARS!!! My BIGGEST issue is that these people (-_-) ALWAYS PUSH to get in and OUT of the freaking train as if the train is going to leave with them in it...or if they don't get a seat, their legs will snap off...and there are sooo MANY of them on Main Street...I think they're out to get me :-/ ...UGHHH... read more

Riding this train is like the NYC subway equivalent to riding the special bus to school. You got a people talking to themselves, people who don't bathe, people who can't understand that standing directly in front of opening doors will caus them to get pushed back from the flow of traffic entering and exiting the train, people who feel the need to walk between cars knocking anyway in their way down, and if they get shoved back suddenly start hollaring and screaming as though they suffered down syndrome. The train in itself is like a special needs person. It always needs attention and repairs, and doesn't really work like the other trains even though it has all the same parts. I think someone needs to find a nice helmet for the 7 train. read more

Seriously avoid if possible. Unfortunately, since it's one of the major train routes in queens, it's very difficult to do. Terrible with keeping on schedule. Always delayed. Any kind of inclement weather (including a slight drizzle or a quiet breeze) results in delays. Super crowded because everyone in queens needs this train. I can't count how many times I've complained about the service on this train. If only I could give negative stars. read more

It is too easy to get down on public transportation. Like other subways (and buses) the 7 train is crowded, never on time when you need it and has weekend diversions that can drive you mad. That being said, the 7 train is the spine of Queens and is imperative for locals and worth the trip for visitors. From LIC to Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Corona and Flushing. It can take you from downtown Flushing to Grand Central faster than any other means of transport for only $2.25. So enjoy the crowd, try speaking another language and watch the City roll by. And, of course, it is the best way to get to Shea (sorry, Citi Field). read more

The 7 train is one of the iconic above ground lines in queens. This train ride can go many ways just like luck. Sometimes running on time, sometimes delayed. Depending on the time if the morning, like say 5am the trains tend to run very slow. During AM rush hour, trains are crowded, after 10am you have to put up with repairs and all the other non sense of the MTA. My only advise is always have a plan B for when you then 7 train cannot get you to your destination. FYI, train fares are going up soon, i hear March 2017...and service still sucks? Thank you MTA for your lack of service to the citizens of NYC. read more

Sure the 7 train has some of the most inconsistent and slowest service amongst NYC's trains. I mean when you got somewhere to go its always late and when you have all the time in the world its running smoothly. And despite carrying so many commuters to nyc, it only gets 2nd string, hand-me-down train carts (the red ones were the worst!) vs the brand new + shiney ones you see in Manhattan. But after all the garbage, the 7 train gives me a place where I can peacefully take a nap without worrying about anything else. And that is something that is awesome. read more

Want to get pushed by 80 year olds, smell like fried pork dumplings at 8 in the morning, wait on the express while 3 local trains fly by you, want to enjoy watching fights for seats, people dumping newspapers under their seats that don't know any better, not giving seats to pregnant women, take a train that can change from an express to a local in a matter of second after it taking off from the station? I can not complain too much on my rating, because NYC has one of the best public transportation systems in the world. One of none that I know which runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at a relatively inexpensive fare. Maybe someone can challenge that statement. Anyways aside from those few racist and anti-worker comments that really don't contribute much to this discussion, the 7 train has given me some bad experiences with the MTA. A long time ago, in a faraway place, there existed the 1 and A trains. Although the girl complained about the commute and how terrible these trains transported her from her home in the Heights to her various spots. In reality, they were reliable, consistent, and on time. Those very rare occasions clouded her judgement and made her speak such blasphemy against the poor A and 1 trains through an evil spell that cast her an entitlement complex. Eventually, she move to Sunnyside, Queens to live in a grand queendom and the spell was broken. Soon, she realized the error of her ways and rescinded her former ill toward those lovely red and blue transporters... The 7 often times has a more inconsistent and erratic schedule during rush hour than at night. Construction, service delays, floods, medical emergencies, running express trains on the local track during rush hour, all seem to be problems that I have experienced after moving to Sunnyside and living off the 40th st train stop for only six months. The A train never gave me these excuses and was generally reliable, consistent, and punctual even after a year of habitation there. Several times, I have waited on the platform for the 7 train for at least ten minutes during rush hour. This would not be so bad, but the fact that the platform becomes crowded with hoards of angry and frustrated people pushing for the few spots on the train creates a safety hazard and a shitty morning that lingers throughout your day . I have had to wait three trains to finally push through a packed, body to body train as the one person that got through the door at the 40th stop during those morning rush hours. Running the express trains local often times is a big culprit in these delays and sardine packed trains. Yesterday, the 7 train conductor fail to tell us that the 7 train may be out of service until we reached Hunters point and by then we are all kicked off the train and told to transfer, but oh wait the conductor just realized that he made the announcement two stops too late. After the missed opportunities and missed transfers as we coasted by 45 road court house and queensboro plaza, the conductor tells us to get back on the train and he takes us back to queensboro plaza. How efficient and savy! There are some positives attributes of the 7 train that the lovely Washington height a and 1 trains only wish they had. The fact that the train is outdoors, may be a curse, but also a blessing. Riding above ground you get some sunlight, you can sight see a bit and see all the old warehouses and buildings. This brightens up my morning more than those ugly, gross, underground rat infested tunnels. The 7 trains are brighter and generally cleaner than the A and 1 dungeon-like trains. The 7 train also seems to be pretty reliable after those late nights/mornings of partying. Finally, the 7 train has so many transfer points and important stops on its line that you have much easier access to all the trains than those north and south trains. Overall, the 7 train, although I loath you many a day, I do love the places you take me, and the neighborhoods and people I meet along the way. The one thing I ask of you, is that you improve on consistency punctuality, and frequency so that my fellow rush hour commuters can have a more positive and happy commute that is a little less stressful and feels a little less like a tiny human rights violation and more like a regular commute where people can have room to breathe and room to get on the train and not be pushed around and packed in a cart like a sardine packed in can. read more

The 7 Subway Train? More like the signal problem train. Have you ever aspired on becoming an NFL player? Well the 7 is where you'll learn how to body someone like James Harrison when getting of the train because morons don't understand the meaning of stepping aside to let the passengers off. My stress levels increases 10000% during evening commutes when riding this train. Express can be slow af, local is.. local, and you're packed like a can of sardines. I feel like satan asked god if he can make 1 thing and it was the 7 train. GL getting a seat on the first stop of morning commutes. read more

The 7 train is probably the train I hate the least out of every train I've ridden. I'll list the positives now: 1. Nice view of the unisphere, stadiums and hall of science (and formerly 5 Pointz before gentrification/the man/the establishment/hipsters killed it) when you get above ground. 2. Almost guaranteed seats at Main St. (and formerly times square) 3. In the past, before express service got tons of cuts, it was the best. If you got on at Bryant Park or Times Square in the afternoon you were guaranteed a seat, and could relax all the way back to Main St. 4. I still have nostalgia for when this train didn't suck as much as it does currently. Now I'll list everything that's wrong with this damn train: 1. Express service became practically non-existent around 2009. Most times you are forced to use the local. 2. The local 7 is the slowest train the MTA has to offer. It will go slow for no reason and they won't tell you why. 3. It's always insanely crowded during rush hour, even at Main St. 4. The crowds get really bad during the US Open and Mets games. 5. They (like the E train), are always doing construction or some bullshit during the weekend of NYCC, don't expect them going to 34th street now to make a difference. 6. On that note, it's usually screwed up on the weekend regardless. 7. Seats are no longer guaranteed at Times Square. That station now officially has NOTHING to offer anyone except misery and sadness. read more

This train has the most delays in the MTA train system. Every time I go on this train, something wrong happens, it's ridiculous. Construction and repair may sometimes cause the train traffic to only go one way rather than both ways. Honestly, i feel sorry for the people who rely on this train daily and for the people who live near the noisy, rumbling tracks. The reason for the 2 is because of the scenery. 7 Train has one of the best scenery of Queens, New York; an opportunity to see Citi Field and the US open is just fantastic; things also seen is Laguardia Airport, the skyline of Manhattan and Flushing Meadows Corona Park. For that, it's just worth the ride. Well good luck on your ride, have fun. read more

Still not bad - it was clean again! - but I still refuse to give it anything above three stars. The stations kind of suck, and when it rumbles through Long Island City you understand right away that despite the fact that this train is above ground, it's not exactly taking the scenic route. I didn't have to wait that long for it, but that was probably a fortunate fluke. I did take it during rush hour, and this thing was like a clown car by the time we got into Queens. The Queensboro Plaza station was a madhouse, and people who successfully navigate that thing on a daily basis should win an award. Heck, anyone who successfully avoids falling onto the tracks at rush hour should win an award. Yes, it was miraculously clean, and no one was rude or harassing to their fellow passengers, and it got me into and out of Manhattan in a decent amount of time. And yes, there was a mariachi band on board, and the mariachi band sent a little kid around to collect (or not collect, in this case) monetary donations from the passengers. This wasn't the first time I'd seen a mariachi band on the subway, but this was the first time I'd seen a little kid with one. It was sad. That shouldn't be, and yet there, on the 7, it was. read more

I've lived along the 7 line for more than 4 years now, and although the line has had some recent difficulties (track work, signal probs, inconvenient weekend service, less morning express service - um, OK, more probs than I thought), I'm giving it a 4-star review. What can I say, except that the 7 and I are tight - the 7 is my homie. Maybe it's because it's the only purple line, and purple is a rad color. NO. The 7 deserves 4 stars because it's the only freaking train in Queens that runs more often and is more reliable than the other crap trains. Go down to the Times Square platform at 2 am and chances are there will either be a train in the station or one coming within the next 5 minutes. Put the E or the F against my 7 and they will fail miserably! Don't mess with the purple train! And, oh yeah, it drops me off 2 blocks from my home - that doesn't hurt, either. :) read more

The 7 train. Surreal if I could put it in one word. My escape, the only place that I can actually find my essential self...? I like the 7 train actually, I tend to have "my" little spot where is usually at the end where the little oval window is. For most of the part taking the train at the End of stop of Time Square to get to Flushing is awesome. I love long train rides, and empty seats while reading manga or drinking my black tea. I'm guessing if you live in Queens to get to Times Square, you'll experience a hell of passengers and little space. It's very peaceful, quiet and great if you you like out door viewing :) Although I've never seen any Bums or mean people there 0.o? The best part is when arriving at Flushing where you can experience great Asian food and culture. :) Take this from someone who takes the 6 train (overcrowded of people), lives in the Bronx and a Freshman that goes to SoHo. If you're a foreigner and want to go to flushing, you'll enjoy it. read more

I ride three subways just to get to school about 4 times a week, two of which are the most crowded. (7 and 6) The commute isn't all that bad in the morning (around 6:30am) but the express can get a little crowded after that. I've had experiences where I got on at 7am and it was so crowded I had no room to move. If I still have some time to spare, I take the local since 1) there are seats 2) not crowded at all. In the afternoon, I get off the N/W train at Queensboro Plaza to transfer to the 7 Express and it is always crowded. I don't think there has been a day where I've gotten on a uncrowded train around 5:45pmish. I guess we all have to deal with the crowdedness if we're commuting but sometimes you get stuck with weird people (i was on it yesterday and some guy took off his shoes and started picking at his feet. disgusting and smelled). I don't usually have a problem with the 7 train delays and all.. I don't have to get to times sq so the "no train are running between X and times sq" doesn't affect me. The 6 train on the other hand can be very frustrating. There was a time where I waited an hour for the train. Quite ridiculous considering how they hiked up the fare and the service can be so poor. Overall, the 7 line isn't bad. It could be better but maybe there will be improvements in the future. read more

I grew up riding this train, and I learned a few things. 1 - In crowded situations, watch ur ass - literally...skeevy people find it a free for all on cheap grabs 2 - If you can, get into work/school late...its worth getting a little room with a later crowd. 3 - Be grateful that during the blackout, the train stops above ground, cuz having your safety guided by train rats the size of Splinter is kinda weird. read more

Oh 7 Train. Why must you be so finicky. The 7 Train could be one of the best trains if it wasn't down for undisclosed reasons ALL the bloody time. It's often times quicker and more efficient than the shuttle for traveling between Port Authority and Grand Central. And very rarely does it get so packed that you cannot move in the car. However, if you are utilizing this train from Queens, well than you are likely out of luck. The 7 Train is down so frequently that I've yet to use it to travel back to Manhattan from Queens. read more

So apparently taking this train and having it run efficiently means you have a better chance of having a foursome with Kim Kardashian, Melanie Elyza and Kerry Washington. I swear everyday this line is having track work completed so if you want to get from 74th and Roosevelt into the city, you are crap out of luck . What I love the most about this train line, which seems to happen more than often in comparison to other lines, when it's time to exit the train, the people entering seem to think you're an illusion or a mirage. Clearly when someone is exiting, they can walk through said person as if they're not there. You don't get the chance to exit safely because to them, getting on that train before the door closes is like winning the lottery and the more precious seconds wasted equates to less winnings. So if I loathe this train so much, why take it? Well, it's one of the most convenient ways of getting to my girlfriend's location. I must give a round of applause to the patrons over the years because from what I used to remember, that train was always busy but good Lord, the smell could get unbearable at times. It reminds me of packed sardine cans because depending on the time of the day, you could barely see your hands with how cramped space becomes. I said it before and I'll say it again, I hate MTA but on the plus side, when this train is running, it comes pretty much every seven minutes or so. read more

My love for the 7 train is unparalleled! Except for when I hate it. It's fast and goes exactly where I want to all over Queens and into Midtown. It's a great wait to get out of Manhattan and transfer to lots of lines in Queens. My only issue is when they announce that "THE TRAIN IS LATE." WHAT? What about THE PEOPLE ON IT?! When this happens, they kick us all out at some random stop and the train continues, in lonely splendor, express to Flushing. I WANT TO GO EXPRESS TO FLUSHING! I don't understand why those of us heading to Main Street can't just stay on while people who want the other stops get out and suffer the wait, but whatever. This hasn't happened lately, so I'm hoping it's over. read more

I am surprised that a train line can be reviewed! Color me shocked. I normally stay in Manhattan during my visits to NYC, but hotels there were booked out and/or too expensive so I saved money by staying in Flushing. The 7 Line was my link from Flushing to Manhattan, and I had interesting experiences riding it. I think I rode the Express once during my stay in the city, and every other time it was Local. For the most part my rides were incident-free. There were the random horny teens making out with one another, little kids riding alone trying to sound "grown," and the creepy homeless folks who put on a show begging for money (one got on his knees and another gave the same speech in Spanish and English, walking around with no shoes on his foot fungus-having feet). There was also the random guitar player/Spanish singer. My only complaint is one night trying to get out at the Flushing station, it was mobbed and everyone was pushing one another to exit. I guess I bumped into a woman during the melee, and she pushed me hard from behind and said "Stop pushing me, you stupid ___!" I was not in the mood to be bothered with an unattractive woman with stringy, greasy hair and a bad tan who looked like a rat in human form. To keep this PC, I let her know how I felt about her stank ways---I'm not scared of trash! I'm sure if I were a local who'd have to rely on this train every day I'd have more negative views, but for the most part I loved riding this train. I liked how it went above ground and I got views of diverse neighborhoods (though I feel bad for the residents in the areas the train passes through---it's gotta suck with a train riding by your window every few minutes). read more

I normally don't take this train but when i wanted to go to baltimore, MD, this was getting me to the closet station. I know it's nobody's fault, who knew there will be a accident with two other trains causing the 7 not to run. I was going to the last stop near the jacob javitz center. I think this was also the first time i took a shuttle (Bus) to a location like this. I still didn't see those big yellow signs pointing which way to go. I think the only problem i had was when i got to street level, waiting 10 mins for a shuttle to come and nobody knew when it was coming. Hopefully next time i go and take the 7 it will be running that way. read more

Our Little Flushing Train Since Flushing is one of my favorite destinations the 7 train is perfect to get there since it drops you off in the middle of one of the most crowded sections of New York (Times Square just as crowded). The 7 train, no matter the hour is always crowded. Riding the train at rush hour? Good luck getting on, let alone finding a seat. Even at 2am finding a seat is a difficult task. The biggest flaw about the 7 train is weekend construction. Entering the city is impossible. On good weekends you can transfer to the R/N train at Queensborough plaza. On bad weekends they have shuttle buses from Roosevelt Avenue running along Broadway/Roosevelt stopping at each of the stop along the way. I don't understand why they still have the express train pass by 74th Street and Roosevelt since it is the biggest MTA hub in Queens. Despite all the flaws it is one of the most consistent trains when it is running. It is one of the cleanest trains as well. The crowds, while pushy are some of the more lenient and friendly(ish) among all the trains in the city. 3.49 Stars read more

This used to be one of the best subway lines, but it has gone downhill. There are frequently delays due to "signal problems" at either Hunters Point or Willets Point - take your pick. One thing I can never understand is why, during the evening rush hour, it takes about 15-20 minutes to go all the way from Times Square to Willets Point, and then almost a half hour to go the one stop from Willets Point to Main Street. How can this be due to "congestion" when there haven't been any trains going into Main Street??? read more

The one line in all of the five boroughs that I absolutely hate. During my four years of frequently riding the subway, the 7 train has only run properly half that time. Maybe less than that. For two years in a row, its service into (and out of) Manhattan has been shut down at the beginning of the year. This year, there's no telling when it's coming back. And even when it's working, it still runs super slow. Rush hour won't even change how long it takes for a train to get to your stop and take you to wherever you need to go. read more

The 7 is disappointing considering it serves a huge number of daily riders who don't have other options. Perhaps the most frustrating part is the fact that it never seems to have priority in the Grand Central and Times Square tunnels. It's delayed outside of these stations virtually every morning; the earlier one takes it, the longer (and more annoying, because you've lost sleep and you're trying to get somewhere on time) the delays. I still hope to see some improvements after all of the upgrade work MTA has done to the line, though I haven't noticed any differences. Sometimes, I wonder if the 7 is neglected because the riders are mostly new immigrants who don't complain enough. Oh, and why is it that there are always more trains going to Queens than to Manhattan in the mornings? For every packed Manhattan-bound train, there seem to be two or three empty Flushing-bound ones. I would really like to know, as it seems illogical for a shuttle line (whatever goes to Manhattan must return and vice versa). read more

I love me some Queens and therefore I love me some 7 train. Those who can't accept a mixed salad of people need not ride. Also those who are close minded. The train is almost always clean and there's almost always someone begging for money by singing, playing an instrument or dancing. I love that I can stand at the front of the train I lookout as the train moves along. Yup, there's almost always construction, signal delays or late trains but it gets me to and from home so I've learned to live with it. The train does run express to Manhattan in the AM and to Main St. in the PM. If you can catch one it will really speed up the process. Also if you have an iPhone download one of the many free MTA apps to keep track of delays and construction so you can plan your trip accordingly. The 7 Train and the agony that comes with it is one of the only regrets I have from moving from Manhattan to Sunnyside. There really isn't a whole lot to say that other haven't said. The tunnel it uses to reach Manhattan is old, and gets jammed up quickly. Those on local trains will find themselves stopping often to let an express pass by. Being above ground can make for nice views but you'll have to listen to loud cell phone conversations. It gets jam packed at rush hour as with most subways and you have no other options. In the summer it's hot and you have to deal with Mets fans, Vaya Con Dios in that case. Finally, they are upgrading the signal system at all times and routinely shut it down on weekends with little notice. Only reason I can't give it 1 Star is that I'm not driving, when you are passing by the traffic jams filled with people barely holding themselves back from leaping off the Queensborough (f*** you Ed Koch) Bridge you can't help but turn your music up and smile to yourself a little bit. read more
