Crowded.... chinese people fighting for seats. Guys will not give up their seats to old ladies on this train.

The local is SUPER SLOW! The express does not run on weekends! It gets you from Grand Central to Flushing to grab some good chinese food in Flushing, but damn, the train is so slow!! Also, I absolutely did not get the "diamond" green line as "express" and "Circle" green line is local. You'd think circle = continuous = no stop = express. We all just think differently! I do appreciate that the 7 train brings me to Flushing and a couple of my friends live near the 7 line. This has to be real convenient, but damn, can't get over the speed! read more

This line really hasn't changed that much. It does the trick, and it's one of the faster subway lines. Might be even faster than the L line. Rush hour, however...is PURE HELL! Yet the L line manages to beat the 7 in this department. read more

I take the 7 train because I have no other choice. It's ok but during rush hour can get extremely crowded. If you're traveling during an off peak hour aka not rush hour or on a weekend check in advance if the train is running. There is ALWAYS some sort of construction going on. Mets fans do us a favor and take the LIRR, same goes for all you US Open people. It's crowded enough already without you trying to sit next to me. read more

The 7 Subway Train - Public Transportation Near Me - Flushing, New York

Being a MY Mets fan, I take the 7 train to all the games. Maybe not the best train line when traveling in Manhattan but it serves it purpose for me at game time. Transfer from the N at Queensboro Plaza and jump across the platform for the local or express. Although can be super crowded after 5pm heading towards Flushing, it seems to come regularly enough to warrant waiting for the next uncrowded train. With arrangements made to have trains come more regularly after Mets games, I never had to wait long to catch a train back towards Manhattan from Citifield. Plus, paying $2.50 for a train beats paying $20 to park your car even if it means sharing space with other people. Another plus for me is that since it travels above ground in Queens, I can always stay in contact with friends and access Internet. However, not the cleanest train line out there. read more

the 7 train line starts from 34th st hudson yards station (11th ave) to the last stop in flushing queens via the flushing main st station with the station for citifield which is home of the ny mets is one station before the last. you can catch the airtran to kennedy airport via the 7 train and when passing to and from queens you will pass more then a few diverse hoods including a large asian community in flushing . from manhattan its the only nyc train line to citifield and quicker then driving as i tried both and the train wins for shorter time travel .the local stops at more then 15 stations and during rush hour the express is the best way to go . one of the busier train lines of the nyc transit system and has been for many years . read more

It's a real love-hate relationship with the 7 train for me. As much as riding the 7 down right sucks (rude riders, funky smells, creepers, etc.), it's pretty reliable (unless there's construction which leave LICers stranded and makes the commute to/from Manhattan more difficult) and is a major part of the public transportation system for Queens. I've grown up taking this melting pot of a train, and I love it (kinda). you get to see all the different cultures that make up Queens as the train moves through from Flushing to Times Square. Being above ground, you get a great view of the many neighborhoods the train rolls through, including a first-class view of 5 Pointz. It also hits many major Queens landmarks, like the aforementioned 5 Pointz, Citi Field, and Flushing Meadows Park. It's definitely a bonus for me that I live off an express stop which gets me home in a convenient three stops from the city. Oh, and the newly installed train status monitors at the Junction Blvd stop is a really nice touch. read more

Love and hate are distinguished by so microscopic a line, don't you agree? Since my freshman year of high school, this damnable hunk of junk has been essential to my commute, and to this day I use it every single time I want to get into the city; whether I change at Grand Central, Queensborough Plaza, or 74th Street all depends on my destination. Generally, I haven't had to wait too long, but the delays that it often experiences are unbearable, and I can't tell you how much I'd like to let forward my wrath every time a train conductor yells over the loudspeaker, or the equally annoying riders try to contort their bodies into every last single space available. "Stand clear of the closing doors" and "Let 'em out FIRST" have become ingrained in my head because of this train. However, one benefit of it for me, someone who is obsessed with ethnic cuisines and culture, is the fact that its route passes right by some of my favorite restaurants and shops, as well as my former high school, the indispensable Grand Central Station, and Chinatown, my very own neighborhood. I don't think I can necessarily recommend or warn against this train; it is necessary for many, and is often a drag and a time-waster, but we'll have to grin and bear it. read more

7 train, you suck. Nothing has changed in all the years that I've ever ridden on this line. - Still overcrowded during rush hour, - Still tiny cramped IRT cars, - Still "signal" problems somewhere, - Still inconsistent service between Times Square and Queensboro Plaza - must be frustrating if you live in LIC, and - EVEN IN THE 21ST CENTURY, no audible announcements about whether the train is local or express. I like the LED-system on the windows, but they're not always reliable. read more

This is a pretty good subway line, trains come by fast and they're not usually packed because they come so frequently which is a plus in my book! The only complaint I have about this train is that on the weekends it's usually not running because of the planned service changes at work which is really annoying. when that happened you either have to take a different train to Queens and then take a bus or a shuttle bus which is really annoying especially in the winter, or fork over $40 and take a cab. if you're taking the seven to transfer between 42nd St., Time Square and 42nd St., Grand Central you're better off taking the (s) shuttle train it's way faster and passes by more frequently. read more

The beloved 7 train. Or not. Living in Sunnyside area forces me to take the 7 every day. Actually I could take the M or R by Northern Boulevard station but have to walk like approx. 12-15 mins alone to the station - I do it when i don't have work or any particular errands to complete. This train is guaranteed to either make you smile widely or frown deeply. Let's not start with the weekend work or any of that sort. First thing first, it is ALWAYS packed every day -- rush hour or non rush hour. there are of course certain time when it is not packed but try to board from the last back cars or first two cars. middle cars are always the favorites for everybody. lol second - attitudes of some people are unbelievable. most of the men that board the 7 (i am not trying to put any race here) do not have good manner or even some respect. they see an old woman board the train but they pretend as if she is ok standing. when a woman board the train, they will gawk at you like you just appear from heaven or something. some with the perverted look of "oh-yummy-flesh-meat" kind of thing. and by all means, either she is dressing in just tanks and jeans or fully covered one. and beware of some guys during jam packed hours; they like to accidentally bump onto you and then no 'i am sorry' words come out - instead they smile. hmmph. third - it will literally stop for like forever especially when the train hits certain station like from 33rd to Queensboro then from Court Square to Hunters Point. stop for nothing. or God forbid, stop because of signal malfunction. really MTA?!? now just be prepare when they actually said something like "because of water break at Grand Central, there is no 7 train b/w Hunters Point and Times SQuare." meanwhile your train is already at Vernon Boulevard and they want you to get out and transfer elsewhere. (this happened on 4/21/15) forth - the horrendous weekend work or no train between this and that from friday midnight to monday. been living for almost 5 years in NYC i guess the 7 will always have weekend work like it or not. i personally don't care when it does not run from Queensboro plaza to times square on weekend. What annoying is when it does not run from 74th roosevelt to Times Square. I mean, REALLY?!? as if MTA is trying to punish all 7 train users on weekends to just stay home and enjoy boredom. yes they will provide shuttle buses but it is unreliable and guaranteed to move like a snail. now, there are some positives about the 7. I like the fact that it does not share rail track with any other trains (hooray for that). It is relatively fast going to Manhattan from Queens. And it has the best view of all the trains in subway services with the A train as second one because of the JFK airport view. read more

The 7 is quick, pretty packed but bearable, and very convenient for jaunts to Queens (which I make pretty often, whether it's to Flushing for Citi field/the Open) or to Jackson Heights or other spots to visit family. Luckily most goes outdoors so you get the cell service of the LIRR with the convenience and cheapness of the subway system, but the line has unannounced and last-second express rides...wtf, mate? read more

Ohh Dear.. Remembering old "Redbird" train cars, perhaps are the only nice memories i have of you.. Yes you are fully equipped with 11 cars, but still its not enough. The pros: Gets you through a wonderful world of different ethnic neighborhoods in Queens.. I can find myself having tacos on 103st, eating great asian cuisine in flushing, chicken masala (wink wink.. )at 74st or having a good old burger in the diner at 61st. Not to mention you can transfer to almost every other subway line in the MTA ie. E,D,R,V @ 74st 1,2,3 @ Times Sq 2,4,6 @ Grand Central or LIRR @ 61st! AMAZING and all under 3 bux! Cons: Over crowded, a bit smelly at times, and when push comes to shove your never likely to get a seat because theres always a purse or a foot on the free chair. I can say thou.. if you had those cool timers installed at every station telling me what time the next train arrives i would give you one more star. (Even better forget the red or the grey cars get some MET designs in there :) !!. ) My dear 7, i don't hate you but i don't love ya! But when Im late you sometimes make it even worse.. with your train delays. read more

its fast convenient and people from all over from the world ride it. It is usually full even in past experiences were I rode at 3 in the morning. so you you'll never feel lonely. Another great thing is that I live in Flushing, so I have the opportunity to pick the car where i can get a seat.(as long as i don't come too late.) The seven express is great, however the builders should of done a 4 track and 2 track system instead a 3 and 2. this way we get express service in both directions and not only peak. Another good thing is that the 7 is soon going to receive new R188 and R142 converted subway cars.(I'll post a picture of the r142 converted ) They look like the original R142 on the 2,4,5, & 6 lines but the main difference is that the destination sign is completely electronic unlike the original R142 where there's a line with orange dots. Now to the negatives, It may not be the most reliable during the weekends. The lines get cut the routes magically change into express. the train are too crowded. After riding it for long amounts of time if starts to feel slow if you're on local. some riders are very annoying. Most of the station are in bad condition. Though honestly the MTA need to stop neglecting us and add more subways in queens. There are only 2 major subway lines that cover queens. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iq568sGKW9g&feature=related read more

The 7 train used to be my train to go home because I lived between Roosevelt and 37 avenues. My stop was 74 street Roosevelt, and sometimes 82nd street. I took one star because 82nd street and junction blvd should fix their stairways. I almost fell off the stairs when I got out the 82nd street station, no joke. Also, the 82nd street metro card booth and the waiting room should be updated because when a train arrives, the station started to shake like an earthquake. Another disadvantage of the 7 train is the weekend schedule. I don't have a problem with that because I don't usually go to grand central on the weekends, but other people yes. I only go to 59th street to take the R train to Roosevelt ave or 51st street to take the Jamaica bound E train. I don't know why they been doing this for 8 or 10 years, but a little bird told me that the 7 train is about to extend west to Javits center, easiest way to go to the Comic Cons!!!. I believe that this is the reason why there's no 7 train running from Queensboro plaza and Times Square due to the train extension towards Javits center. read more

The 7 train made me a stronger person. I used to be a timid Asian girl that would gladly offer my seat to the elderly, infirmed, children, parents with small children...that was before I became a 7 train commuter. If you do not need to take the subway during weekday rush hour...DON'T! It will make you bitter and hard. I have the pleasure of boarding the 7 train at the terminal station with throngs of tired, grouchy people rushing to get to work. The platform at 8:00am looks innocent enough but when the train begins to approach the platform, you begin to feel shifting....and I mean FEEL! The anticipation continues to grow at an exponential pace until those doors slide open and then BAM!! It is a free for all of shoving, pushing, pulling, biting, tripping, and butt sliding into a seat. Chivalry? Nope. It is pure equality in the rawest form. Men, women, elderly, children, everyone is treated the same. Wearing heels and holding 10 pounds of file will get you no sympathy. After a few months I have learned a few tricks. I get to the station earlier...or later and stand away from the crowds. Other than rush hour, the 7 train is actually an amazing line. It is a ride through several ethnic enclaves that are all worth exploring. Queens is rich in diversity where each stop along the 7 line brings you to another culture. In Jackson Heights you will find yourself immersed in a vibrant Indian community; from Woodside to Corona you can walk down Roosevelt Avenue on an endless road of enticing Salvadoran, Ecuadoran, Mexican, Cuban and Dominican restaurants; Elmhurst where you can find Malaysian food; and of course, Flushing, a mecca of Chinese and Korean food. If you have never taken the 7 line, you are missing out on some of New York's great grubs. I would probably crown the 7 line as my favorite line but for the MTA screwing everything up. The 7 line is in constant repair and now that they are working to extend the 7 line, train schedules are unpredictable and frustrating. read more

Let me first start off by saying that this train is a total joke and the MTA needs to find a way to help out the strap hangers instead of working against us during our daily commute. #1. Why in the hell is there no express train during the early morning commute. #2. The speed of this train is slower then slow. I mean seriously don't ya think there would be some kind of consideration instead of sitting on an empty track with literally nothing but track on front of you and saying that your being delayed for train traffic in front of you #3 they have no set schedule of when there coming or going. Everyday when they leave Main Street just depends on there mood. The thing that they don't understand is that people that ride there train actually have schedules of there own and they depend on a train to come and go at the same time every day Hopefully this review goes noticed by somebody who might be able to help some other people rather then filling there pockets with our swipes at the turnstiles read more

7 Words to describe the 7 train. 1. Smelly 2. Filthy 3. Disgusting 4. Slow 5. Crowded 6. Mets suck 7. John Rocker The 7 train service is absolutely ridiculous. It will go express whenever it wants and it usually makes my short commute 3x longer. Each car stinks and the escalators at Roosevelt Ave are usually down. If the escalator are actually up and running, nobody knows how to stand to the right so people can pass on the left. It's the worse train to take if you're in a rush. The foot traffic here is just absurd. read more

Mom: "I know when Mets game today, better looking people on train."

Ahhh. The wonderful 7 train. The 7 train has been part of my daily routine for nearly 6 years now. How wonderful it has been. The MTA employees are so caring and thoughtful to the commuters in Flushing. I see them all the time talking and having a great time with each other (sometimes in large groups). Nothing but pure joy working for the MTA I am sure. An organization as strongly structured as the MTA, why wouldn't they all be happy? I remember I purchased a monthly pass from the machine one morning. As I went to go use it for the first time, I unexpectedly shattered my pelvis (not really) as the turnstile rejected me. After waiting on line for approximately 15 minutes, the wonderful MTA employee gave me a little booklet to fill out and told me to mail in the defected card along with it. It has been close to a year now and I still have not had a response. But its ok. I am sure that the MTA is doing everything they can to investigate the issue and reimburse me. I am running approximately 20 minutes late for work at this point. The express just left and I was amazed and in awe that at 8:40am on Tuesday morning, not one train (out of 3 possible) is in the station. Hmmm. You keep finding ways to amaze me 7 train! I stand at the platform to write an email to my boss from my blackberry. "Hey Greg, I am sorry but I am having train trouble. I am going to be a little late. See you in a bit." Greg replies, "See you soon." *In Greg's mind* You are so close to getting fired you don't even know. I press send. I see the train coming. And I also notice that there are about 85 people standing right around me all pushing and shoving me like they want me to fall into the train tracks. The train is here. I am standing right in front of the door. I wait for commuters to come out while simultaneously trying to hold back being pushed into them from the people behind. You silly people. I have never seen a place like the 7 train when trying to find a seat. Old Asian women are catlike in quickness and bearlike in strength. If you knew how many elbows I have to dodge every morning. Those silly old Asian adies. I sit down in my seat next to a cool man with sunglasses on, that smells like he just showered in his baby's used diaper. I take a deep breath and let it soak into my nostrils. This is much more effective than coffee. Junction Blvd. A woman followed by her four young children get on at the Junction Blvd. stop. She is staring at me. Is it because she wants my seat? Maybe but not likely. I am assuming it was because I am really good looking and she would like to bear an additional child with me and we could all ride the 7 train together during rush hour with her screaming (but adorable) children. I daydream for a few minutes about what that life would be like with her, then I realized I was unworthy and too irresponsible for the lives of children that most likely have 4 different fathers. I pretend to sleep but I could feel Esperanza's (her name was on her shirt) eyes piercing through me. I felt passion. 61st. Woodside. Three men come on board the Orient Express. Or what I hear others are now calling the "Chimichanga Choo Choo train". They are wearing sombreros and have their guitars and keyboard with them. YES! I cannot wait for the show! Its not a U2 concert by any means but it is pure entertainment for only the change you have in your pocket. What a deal! Unfortunately for them, I didn't have any change. They sang their song very loud so you can hear it even while your Ipod is at maximum volume (bonus - extended solo by the keyboard guy). Very rudely no one clapped at the end. I thought that was really rude but I was too embarrassed to clap by myself so, I didn't. Poor guys. Must really hurt their self esteem. As the man comes over with his hat in hand, I pretend to sleep again because I am ashamed that I could not contribute to the show I did not ask to hear. Queensborough Plaza. Our approach to QBP, is slowing down. Then eventually we come to a full stop one station for QBP. The conductor says "Train traffic ahead, please be patient" 5 minutes later, The conductor says "Train traffic ahead, please be patient" 5 minutes after that, The conductor says "Train traffic ahead, please be patient" 2 minutes after that, we begin moving again. I wonder what kind of traffic jam there was for us to be there for 12 minutes without moving. Hope it wasn't an accident ahead. I hope everyone is OK. I'm sure my boss will understand that I will now be close to 35 minutes late. What are you gonna do you know? Traffic Jam. We get to QBP, and people get out. The 3 artists leave the train at this stop. I wonder if I will ever see them again. Goodbye my friends. Esperanza leaves with her children. Smelly guy next to me gets out. I have to take this train everyday. Disgustingly bad train. You cannot depend on it at all. Always always always delays every single day. Sometimes they just shut the train down for a day or two with no warning. and the 7 train is the ONLY choice in this area. not like you can hop on another line. So what are you supposed to do??? And what do you tell your boss?? Oh and here's a good one - the 7 train can't run if it rains or snows. And there is NEVER any weekend service... I tried to go to a trade show on a weekend - had to meet other professionals there -- guess what ? NO #$% 7 Train. Just NO F***ing train. Period. What ? people don't have to work on weekends ?? people don't have to go to manhattan on the weekends? I tried to meet someone on a Sunday to go to a movie in Manhattan and again -- NO SERVICE ON A WEEKEND. I ended up having to take a taxi -- cost me $35. They say the 7 line is the busiest line in NYC. So why do they give us the oldest, ugliest cars with the least amount of room? No trains going into manhattan for the morning rush hour. when trains come, you can't get on them. No matter what time of day or night you are riding the 7 train, you are crammed on like rush hour and it is standing room only. I was on the 7 train at 11 pm a few days ago and it was so packed, I didn't think I was going to be able to even get on the train. 11PM and this train is packed like rush hour. You can wait 15-20 mins for a train in the morning when you are trying to get to work and then half way to manhattan they say there are delays and you are stuck there. Bad weather ? Forget it. Apparently, the 7 train can't run if it rains or snows. Try explaining that to your boss. Then there has never been any weekend service in the 4 years I have been forced to use this train. seriously. There are no subway maps on the platforms. The train stations are old, rusty and rickety. If you can't climb stairs, you could never have access to the subway around here as there are no escalators or elevators. I often wonder what disabled people do in Queens if they can't climb up or down 5 flights of stairs to get to the subway train because I don't see any other options. This 7 train is disgusting and you can't depend on it. They charge us more and more to ride the subway and the service gets worse and worse. 3/18/17 update: so it has been about 18 months since I posted my review -- Today is sunday and I wanted to go to brooklyn for brunch but there is No 7 train service past Queensboro plaza so I cant make any connections or get into manhattan and 7 train service is skipping my station anyway. So it's sunday and i have no train service at all. WTF. I have lived here since 2012 and STILL there is NO weekend train service nor have I seen any improvements in service at all so I don't know what they have been "working" on. In addition, earlier this week because we got 2-3 inches of snow, they halted service on the 7 train. So for all the thousands of people who depend on this 7 train to get to their jobs -- there was no service because it snowed a little. read more

Can I give less than one star? No? Then I guess one will have to do. Is the near every weekend construction for any sort of purpose? Your guess is as good as mine. I have no real complaints about the 7 train. It's actually one of my favorites, not to mention that it gets me to and from the city every day. I have never encountered a huge problem with it except when it decides to not run express when it's not even 10am yet. That, I will never understand. The express train is always packed in the morning, no matter what and always packed again when I am coming home in the afternoons. There's usually never a seat, but I don't mind because I like to stand. One of the things that I do love about this train is the view! I'm quite sure many share the same love-hate relationship of this line. When it's good it gets you to many destinations across the most diverse and ethnic neighborhoods of the world. When it's bad there's delays up the wazoo, but this kind of goes for all of MTA. It's fun seeing the characters on this train, definitely helps me pass time to make fun of them in my head. There was once where 2 mini Spanish dudes (they were literally no taller than 5'4") both came in swinging at each other for a little over a minute. Then they exchanged angry words that gradually toned down amicably. It ended with them shaking hands and parting ways. I don't think this train deserve the "cleanest train" award! When I used to work in Flushing, I took this train every weekday, I have to say that the train wasn't always very clean, you often see paper here and there, coffee cups under the seat, spilled coffee on the ground where you have to avoid stepping on. The train is mostly on time, maybe you will encounter 1 delay once a month, that's why I always make sure I have extra 15 to 20 minutes to spare when planning my trip. One thing I always hate is getting off Flushing Ave, the last stop, people there, especially the older Chinese women always try to push me back onto the train as I was stepping out. i have to love this train since it's 2 blocks from my house, and it is the quickest way for me to get into Manhattan to my sister's, to my best friend's, and to my favorite watering hole. but man, does it suck sometimes. it ALWAYS has some sort of construction going on. i'm by the 82nd St station, and whether it's a weekday or weekend, the train skips my stop either going into Manhattan or towards Flushing. it never fails. i took a picture of the MTA workers this weekend. there were at least 21 guys that i counted...and 6 were actually doing work. the rest were simply standing and sitting, talking, eating and drinking coffee. were they all on break? why have 20+ people if only 6 are rotating in at a time? and what the heck are these "improvements" that they are constantly touting? i haven't seen one thing change at this station in 2 years, but it's constantly being "worked on". so while this train is the most convenient for me geographically, it is also the bane of my existence. people are rude on here, too. i had a cane and a leg cast, and people wouldn't let me sit. they'd shove me out of the way just to enter the train one step ahead. and don't get me started that the 74th St station isn't an express stop. it could easily be made so. there are 4 other trains at that stop (E/F/M/R) that would benefit the residents and the MTA greatly! think about it! read more

OK, moved to NY 2 yrs ago and have a nice place in Woodside and a job in Manhattan (Times Square area) .After riding this line 7 days a week, at all times of day, for 2 years I feel the need to give this line a 2 star review and here's why. I cannot tell you how many times this line has made me late due in part to construction, an earlier incident on the train, etc. There are constant closings of this line making it a very unreliable means of transportation. I catch it at 52nd Street. More often than not I watch the express fly by and wait forever for the local only to race it to QBP and lose.. When one finally arrives it is packed full of oblivious passangers and their crotch fruit (children). I love to pay $2 to stand all the way to T.S. while 3 kids climb around on the seats unseen by Mom and Dud. What happened to "Ride for free, ride the knee"? The mornings are the worst as everyone and their baby brother is heading into Manhattan and refuse to move inside the car. After pushing my way in I get to enjoy the rich aroma of a combination of hairgel, bad breath, B/O, and food. yum! When I do get a seat in the morning (rare) Im also treated to the sights of FEET. It's open toe season in NY again!!!! Who, in a major city, wears flip flops? and the sounds of cellphone conversations from the apparently deaf passengers. anyway, by the time I get to QBP I am running out the door (usually taking someone out with me cuz they did't move) to catch the N or W instead of riding all the way to T.S. and throwing up. Afternoon is just as bad as the school kids, and their kids, get on and we hear the door trying to close 10 times at each stop and all the screaming you expect from studens. Late evenings are better but usually run local and is when they close for perpetual construction. I have to agree with most of these reviews and was hoping to see an upgrade or 2 after the increased fare. no luck. Now that the weather is nice I walk down to Woodside in hopes of catching the express and maybe a seat. To all fellow passengers who step aside, don't spit, eat,or sleep on me, and don't sit with their legs spread open like Paris Hilton... I applaud you. To the Crazy Woman who plays that toy keyboard she blows into..LEAVE! To the mariachi Band playing over the important announcements..STOP! To the cell phone users who have no clue the are annoing everyone else at 6am. TEXT MESSAGE!!! END OF RANT. read more

If asked around the city it has a bad reputation. But it has been my means of transportation to Manhattan for over a decade and overall in my opinion it is pretty good. The best compliment I can give is that I feel safe on this line. Weekends though like all other lines though pretty much sucks. Every stop so far has a interesting place to go. Except for the Hunters Point stop is quite desolate. The 7 line has a lot to offer if you want to have a good place to eat. Vernon blvd. (Tournesol) to Flushing ( Biang) are just 2 examples. Swipe that metro card and come on by. read more
