I found out about this car service through word of mouth. I have been using it for at least 2 years now and never have I had any problems with them until today. I had called last night to schedule a ride from my apartment to Hofstra University for 8 a.m. this morning. The car came 10 minutes before expected arrival (which was nice). The driver asked where I was headed and immediately put the information in his GPS. The ride started off smoothly until our cab driver decided to have a conversation on his cellphone- something my family and I really didn't feel very good about. It's such a cliche but he wasn't paying attention to the road. Out of the blue, he wasn't able to step on the brakes fast enough and he hit the car in front of us. Thankfully the accident wasn't life threatening and no one was hurt. But the driver had the nerve to turn to us and say "oh, I only hit her light," followed by a very nonchalant apology. It sure sounded and felt like he apologized for the minor inconvenience rather than his poor decision to be on his cellphone while driving. After my experience today, it'll probably a while until I call Caprice II again. read more

The only reason i've been using them is since they take credit cards but AS ALWAYS they are always late and they show up after calling them numerous times to remind them. The dispatchers seemed unaware a ride was reserved from days ago. If you dont mind the hassle of being late and keep calling them to remind, it shouldnt be a problem but if you have a flight or an important event you need to on time, this is definetely not the car service to rely on to give you a ride.... read more

I wish yelp allowed negative stars. After using Caprice for over a year consistently I called a cab tonight and the cab picked up a passenger while my husband and I were waiting outside for over 15 minutes. When I called the base the response was "well that's not my problem" If you want decent customer service call someone else! read more

Awful. I have been until now a Caprice customer for over 30 years generally tipping extremely well. NO MORE! Repeatedly cars have left not waiting even a moment after a ride is booked for a particular time. Cars have not shown up as well. This was once a well run service. No longer. Customer service is poor and argumentative. Business travel and rides to airport have been been terrible. Many good individual drivers, however the company does not give acceptable service. The worst cab service ever! Called them and got quote for $45 from Flushing to Lawrence, NY. It took only 20 min to drive there. Driver did not know where to go, he was thinking we are going to the city. First time in my life I had to tell driver not only how to get to my destination but also how to drive and when he should change the lines (because there is arrow left only so he cant go straight from this line). Cab itself had no signs or markings TAXI and driver Martin doesnt speak much english. When I said "around Valley Stream" he answered "I know, Valley Street". Pathetic ! In the end I asked him how much I owe him, and he said $48 so the price went up by $3. So not only incompetent but also thieves ! read more

Recently called Caprice II. They arrived earlier than the time they told me and the price was reasonable. The driver was friendly and a good driver, which is rare. I was delighted to ride in a Toyota Prius. It was a beautiful car and it was very comfortable and spacious. read more

I needed a cab to pick me up from the hospital (NY Presbyterian of Flushing) as my regular neighborhood driver would not pick me up from so far. I found this company on Yelp. They arrived in about 5-7 minutes in a nice, clean SUV. The driver was female and very sweet, She plugged my address into her GPS, asked if it was the correct side streets, and had me home with no issues in about 20 minutes. She even asked if the AC on was ok and if I was comfortable. She called her base for a price and they charged me the same that my neighborhood company charged me to get there . I had no issues and will call them again if I ever need a ride back from the hospital (God forbid). read more

in my years of using caprice i've never had a terrible experience besides a few extra minutes of waiting or some traffic that isn't directly the drivers fault. i'm sad other people don't have the same experiences as me but i know they have definitely been improving. caprice forever! read more

I've been using caprice for a few months and it's hit or miss. Sometimes they show up exactly when they say they will, and sometimes you have to call them a few more times to remind them you're still waiting. But after my experience with them yesterday I will never call them again. I called at 3:30 and they told me 10 mins, which was great since I had to be at work at 4, and it's only about a 4 minute drive. Anyways, after 15 mins of waiting I called them back and the dispatcher told me 7, 8 more minutes. I asked him if he was positive it wouldn't be any longer since I had to get to work, and he told me that it would definitely be 8 mins. After 8 minutes I called back since it was now about 3:55 and I had 5 mins to get to work. He told me there was now no car available!! I was shocked, I asked what happened to the car that was supposedly 8 mins away but was given no explanation or apology. And he had the nerve to lie to me and claim he told me during the previous call that I should find another ride, which obviously never happened. I tried supporting this local business instead of using Uber or Lyft but after this experience I see why these apps are so popular and I will be using them from now on, and suggest everyone else should also to avoid the headaches and inconvenience of this "company". read more

Rip off and rude. I didn't even have a Yelp account before using the car service once. I took a cab from Brooklyn to queens for work, $50. To return home, I assumed the same price. Same distance, relatively the same amount of time, but they said it was $85. Naturally I said that was absurd, it should be over 50% more for the same ride. They dispatcher on speaker phone was even rude enough to tell me that maybe I should have rented a car. If I had smaller bills I would have just given him $50 and told him figure it out. Take your business elsewhere. A yellow cab or even an uber would have been cheaper. Hell, for another $20-$40 I could have taken limo home. read more

I regularly use Caprice Car Service and I find the price reasonable yet the drivers arrogant when you are giving directions to a destination they are unfamiliar with. I had to transport my 1yr Mini Eskie to the vet, I called the base and informed the dispatcher that I was traveling with my dog in her crate. He said no problem and sent a car, they arrived late. We I was done I called back so that I could get transported home, when the driver showed up and after I was seated in the car did he comment about the dog. He said he did transport dogs and I stated that i made that clear when I called to request car service. He stopped short on the road, I hit my head against the edge of the window . He made an abrupt U-turn ( an illegal u-turn at that) and rushed me back to my place of pick up asking me to get out of the car. I spoke with the supervisor on duty prior to leaving his car, launched a serious complaint yet i think nothing happened. Another car was sent, and I was giving directions to the drive as I live on a small not very well know street when he rudely cut me off to tell me he knew where he was going. This rating is for the one of the drivers not the base service. Today I called Caprice Car Service 2 to go to an interview. The dispatch gave me a $45 quote which was more expensive than I would normally pay for a car service from Queens to LI. But I agreed and a car arrived in good time. I was brought to my destination and as agreed I paid $45.00. Then before leaving the car I asked the driver Doris if she can bring me back after my interview. I asked if that would cost me anything. She said no since she will be heading back that way any way. I told that was good because I only had the $45 I gave her. I thought she was doing me a favor by not charging for the return trip home. When I arrived on my return trip as I was about to leave the car she said "You have to pay me now". I was betrayed. She did not keep her word. So I got more money out of the nearby bank and paid her the cash. I called Caprice II at 718-460-3434 and spoke to one of the dispatchers who told me that she is a good person but didn't speak English too well. Well it was a costly trip to have an interview. Next time I will try taking public transportation. If you want car service your better off calling the main office number to avoid any confusion unless you know the person very well! read more
