The New York strip was gray, so gray. The veg was mush. The fondue didn't appear. And the service, ugh.

In my experience there is never an issue with the food at The 502 but the service is another story. Among the 4-6 times I've eaten here, I would say that the service was lacking at least half the time. In some situations I get the feeling that the waiters and waitresses just don't care. This past weekend the hostess took us to a table and then decided to move us one table over in anticipation of the waiter/waitress service volume. We said ok and then after about 15 minutes we had no acknowledgment from anyone about providing service so we left. If you can get service the food is usually good. read more

The salmon and walleye were good but the rice and veggies on the side were not. The view of Leech Lake was wonderful and service was pretty good and definitely delivered with a smile. read more

I want to say the wait staff and bar tender were very friendly and festive. The food on the other hand was, okay. The walleye entree was way over crusted. The chicken pasta was salty and very greasy. They had the same soup and entree special for two nights in a row. The breakfast buffet was okay, not much variety . I guess when you're one of the few restaurants open for dinner in October in Walker, not much incentive to excel. read more

Staff was friendly, but for being on the lake ordering fish entrees should've been an easy win for taste. Unfortunately, this was a hard miss for us. None of what we got tasted good. Small things as well; such as, we were given tea cup plates rather than standard small plates for our appetizer. Just all around an experience that if it weren't for being on the patio and seeing the lake would've been a total flop. A place I looked forward to, but found sub par. read more

Went here for Valentine's Day with my love and it was the best decision ever!!! The food was fabulous and the service stellar. We will be back for the great views of the lake on patio and awesome food. Thank you 502 staff for great food making our stay so great. read more

I've had a one star review completely written out, but never posted for this place. They were really struggling when they first opened their doors. BUT! I am happy to say, things seem to be improving. Not perfect, but improving. I don't know what they did (new management perhaps?) but it seems to be working. My folks have a cabin in Walker so I'm in town frequently. I have to say many of my relatives have already decided they would not be returning to The 502...but I am glad I gave them another shot. I think The 502 is best suited for evening dinner and drinks...or just appetizers and drinks. Last time I was in, we ordered some creative cocktails (good Bloody Mary, by the way) and a variety of apps. Everything was delish. My burger on the other hand...not so much. It was cooked too well and the bun contributed nothing. I was satisfied enough with the crab dip and the pork wings. :-) I will continue to give these guys more chances...their location is too awesome to completely neglect them, and as long as I can get a good view of the lake with a good drink in hand, I'm happy! read more

When we tried this restaurant in 2014 we weren't impressed. This time around in 2015 we are. So far we have enjoyed the prime rib, beet salad with blackened walleye and flat breads, which have a really thin crispy crust. The service has been great too. The view of Leech lake is spectacular! Great place for eating outside on a nice day, or inside as there are windows all around. Bar serves good cocktails. read more

Just experienced this gem for the first time ever today. Came here with my mom on our way back home to Minneapolis. Very refreshing setting after eating mostly bar/diner food all weekend. We sat on their gorgeous deck overlooking Leech Lake. After starting off with (and devouring) their Wild Rice Bread and Cheese Fondue, we ordered the Copper Door and Thai Beef salads (add cilantro). Phenomenal! Wish I would have tried another cocktail after tasting The Bees Knees Martini. Our server was Abby and she was absolutely delightful. We will definitely be returning next time we are in the area!! read more

Service was extremely slow, staff appears to not be trained and management appears not to care. This should be a great venue as the location is great!! Too bad we didn't read reviews first as we would have skipped this stop.Lets hope the owners actually read some reviews and take steps to correct the problems. Seems like the place needs a real cleaning and facelift . They are just banking on the views to keep people coming in. So Sad to see read more

Mediocre food. Tomato wild rice soup sounded good but was devoid of wild rice and tomatoes, pretty much just warmed up cream broth with maybe some celery. The walleye was ok but cold in the middle. Our waiter tried but was obviously overwhelmed and we waited forever to ask for our check, and when he took it to run it after another employee said they couldn't, he proceeded to go wait on another table. Ugh. All while there was a screaming kicking toddler sitting behind me. Overpriced for quality and the view is beautiful but this ain't the only spot to get that. read more

This restaurant bar has the best view in Walker, but the food is hit or miss. We try to hit their happy hour in the summer for great drink prices and appetizers. However we never know what will arrive at our table. Last night we ordered the flatbread pizzas which included the margarita flatbread. Expecting and craving fresh tomatoes, basil and fresh mozzarella I was anticipating deliciousness. But what arrived was a dried pizza with 3 cherry tomatoes cut in half. I searched for the basil, and finally found a some shreds. Being that I was starving I ate the thin cardboard but again a crapshoot with the food quality here. read more

Just returned home from our weekend in Walker MN. We stayed at the Chase of the Lake condo- hotel while it was great to have a kitchen in our room we did have two meals at the 502. We had a early dinner Saturday, it was seat yourself. Beautiful clean windows looking out on the lake. We were greeted right away and offered menus and water. We started out with cornbread fried pickles very Tasty however the cornmeal did not stay on the pickle chips. We also had the Minnesota Wildrice bread with cheese ehhhhh it was fine dry and I wouldn't order it again- My husband ordered the burger with spinach and onions. I didn't taste his but he said he was tasty. I ordered a glass of a Spanish Blend Wine to pair with my Gnocchi with Butternut Squash. I needed some protein so I requested chicken added to the meal. The sauce was a garlic cream. There was a lot of squash and Gnocchi and it will be a memorable meal! I loved it- We came back down Sunday Morning for the breakfast buffet. It was fine- I loved the breakfast pizza. The waffle make your own station was fun and the warm maple syrup was delicious. 9$ a person including drinks is an amazing deal. They had bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, and some sort of rolled pancake with a light jam... which didn't taste like much. I enjoyed the view and it really wrapped up the trip! The service in the morning was somewhat slow just in getting acknowledged and drinks. Once we were noticed service was great. Katy read more

Didn't stay at the hotel, but ate at the restaurant last month! It was pretty good! The location with outdoor seating on Leech Lake was PRIME, with a great view. Food was good and service was relatively prompt. The hostess was a real sweetheart! All in all if you end up in Walker, Mn for some reason, I'd recommend this place! read more

I had 2 trips here this vacation. 1st visit I was with a party of 13, they gave us an awesome table inside looking out at the lake. I ordered the steak salad, it was very good. All the other food the people in my party got looked great. I heard not complaints. Our server was totally on top of it too, bonus!! My 2nd visit was 4 ladies we sat outside in the early evening for drinks and appetizers. Food was great. I shared the spinach dip. Again the service was great. Only complaint were the BUGS!!!!!! OMG Terrible, I think they would do something about that, I mean they were EVERYWHERE! SO uncomfortable we did move indoors, that was a bummer because the seating outdoors is perfect. I believe they are called mayflies read more

Before you start reading this is solely based off one experience with their breakfast brunch! We stayed at Chase on the Lake for me and my wife's honeymoon. (Last minute) it was fun and this place made it great! The waffles in the morning are to die for and the Buffett breaker line was really decent! Way more than I expected! That being said I have never eaten their for lunch or dinner. It seems people say it isn't that great but I promise you that you will enjoy their breakfast! Me and my wife still talk about it and while you are eating you get to see this beautiful view of leech lake! Overall it was awesome! read more

My parents and I came here on the 4th of July weekend and were seated within 5 minutes. Staff was friendly and attentive. Had a Bloody Mary with horseradish vodka and it was fantastic - comes with a beer shooter and some delish garnishes. For dinner I had the almond fried walleye sandwich. The fries that came with it were just eh. Not bad... just nothing special & needed salt. But the walleye sandwich was SO good. Super moist, fresh, nicely almond fried fish, flavorful toasted focaccia bread - throw on a little squirt of lemon, tartar sauce, lettuce and tomatoes and you've got yourself a damn fine sandwich. read more

I always get theBLT on cranberry wild rice bread and I'm never disappointed. Service is a little slow but the view while you wait is great.

Excellent evening on the deck. Many of us had the walley dinner and it was very good. It has a nice almond crust and the meat was moist. Beautiful view of leach lake. read more

Beautiful restaurant, outdoor seating faces the lake; gorgeous views but staff is super slow. Drinks took like 15 mins to come out and our waiter didn't even apologize for the delay. This restaurant is part of the overall Chase on the Lake resort and so glad they were able to rebuild but restaurant needs some better management. We even walked in through the hotel entrance and we encountered a bellhop baggage cart right in the front of the entrance!! Seriously? Who is the manager and why the sucky oversights?! Love Walker as I live here but service overall sucks everywhere I visit in this town!! Grrrr! read more

We went here for our 30 yr anniversary. Ordered new york strip and the duck. The steak had to be sent back. The sides were nasty. The garlic mashed potatoes had to have been a week old and a dark gray in color. My husband had the cauliflower and ugh. We were so disappointed. I will never go and eat at this place again. read more

The food is always good at the 502. The tomato wild rice Gorgonzola soup is one of the best soups I have ever tasted anywhere! But, getting it delivered to you is another thing. Hopefully, they can step up their service from a lack of staff. read more

The 502 is recently under new management and they have really stepped it up! Noticeable changes, great food, great service and a great atmosphere right on Leech Lake! read more

Fairly good American food with so-so service. We've only been twice because we soon realized there was better for for less money at several places in Walker. This place does offer the best views of any restaurant in walker and is a little more upscale. read more

Everything was good until I got to my New York Strip steak. Dry charred and over cooked. Was supposed to be medium.

The ambience is what I come here for. The food is also quite good. 90% of the time the service is horrible. The hostess was not at their post and I observe is cleaning tables. It also takes a judicious amount of time to receive drinks, to order, to get refills, you have to often ask for silverware, and it just seems like it will be a guessing game about the service. Three entrees were ordered and only came with one loaf of bread and cheese when three should have arrived. I started out having a glass for beverage and was later brought a refill in a plastic cup. I am always sad that the service is lacking. Allow a lot of time for your dining experience here. read more

The food is mediocre at best but honestly I couldn't eat because of all the dead bugs on the window sill right near our table. Seriously!? You guys couldn't clean the window sills at the end of the night?!? Blech. Also the service is horrendous. Too bad because the place has so much potential. Best bet in Walker is Benson's for pizza or Boulders for a nicer dinner, Jimmy's for pancakes. 502 might have nice views but it's not at all worth it. read more

Disappointing is all I can say. We like 502 and have been patrons of it and the Chase for over 30 years. The problem is the inconsistency in the food and dining experience. Tonight was poor. We were there a month or so ago and it was great. This inconsistency has been an ongoing problem for a while. I don't know what the problem is but I hope you can correct it and return the Chase to the level such a great venue with its views of Leach Lake deserves. My wife's prime rib was the only good memory we will have of this visit. read more

On a Tuesday 2-3 hours after checking in at Chase On The Lake, We were looking at a dozen local places for Dinner. We DID eat at 502 which is part of The Chase. Beautiful historic hotel dark wood beams of the lobby and in restaurant and bar all seemed a bit dark but maybe Historic! I wish it was warmer and earlier for us to sit outside at their tables with umbrella and GORGEOUS view! Great food and Octoberfest was on tap! read more

Beautiful and convenient location; unfortunately the food and service are seriously lacking. The musician in the bar was so loud you couldn't hear the bartender talk. The sweet potato fries were soggy, the ahi tuna appetizer was a poor cut of meat and the wasabi aioli was almost pure wasabi. My husband liked his burger and the drinks were standard. We'd probably go back for a drink and the view but would find food elsewhere. read more

Love the view of Leech Lake's Walker Bay from the multi level patio and and from the expansive indoor seating windows. The food is good, but could use a bit more seasoning. The service is excellent as are the bloody Mary's and the ice cold giant frosty mugs of fat tire ale. Excellent breakfast and brunch options. My favorite new breakfast dish is their eggs Benedict with walleye cakes. read more

See my check in. Not worth the money to be insulted when I'm spending$50 on a meal. Our waiter Matt could have a little more tact when complaining to his co workers about our table. I only tipped 15% because of his rudeness when he could've easily gotten 20% when really out of feeling obligated because this is a nice hotel, he should've gotten 10%. I completely heard it all. Plus the hotel is freezing! It's been 66 in the room since we got here last night and I've turned the thermostat to 90. It's moved 1 degree in 2 hours! read more

Terrific menu in a historic hotel makes for a memorable dining event. I highly recommend 502.

My family hasn't been to Chase on the Lake for a while for whatever reason. I guess every time we have been to our cabin lately we thought they were under construction since they had been remodeling for so long. Anyways, the "new" 502 restaurant at Chase on the Lake is way better than it was before. Yes, it is a small menu, but that just means the food is made better. I had a fabulous burger that was full of flavor, and the other item that my family loved was the crab stuffed shrimp...it was great. You can't beat the view of Leech Lake and the 502 has come leaps and bounds since the last time we ate here. Only thing that did me in was the spinach artichoke dip...which didn't really have any spinach in it and was mainly cream cheese and sour cream, but the pitas were good. Definitely recommend this restaurant, and it is definitely one of the gems of Walker! read more

One word. Awful. Service awful and food awful. Food awful in the sense that it's not cooked properly (raw lobster in our case), cold and tasting of the frozen variety. Don't go. Apparently The Boulders is the place to go. read more

I used to work here at the original Chase restaurant in 1990's. I know I am old, but not impressed by corporate and profit driven environment. Gone is the family friendly atmosphere! Wait staff is cordial, but impersonal. Bummed that it doesn't do a better job accommodating locals. read more

The breakfast was okay, but ate two terrible dinners there. Overcooked prime rib and tough steak. Not good!

The food was good, we stopped for brunch... very rude service, as while we were eating we were told we needed to hurry up as they had a banquet happening.... which I understand but maybe you should have closed the restaurant.... there were no signs, we would have eaten elsewhere if we knew we had only 10 min to eat.... and being reminded every two minutes that we needed to hurry was as I call rude... especially for paying customers, maybe the banquet should have been held In another portion of the hotel, or here is a silly thought if they didn't want people coming down for brunch they should have signs saying were closed or we are only offering brunch until such time.... I dunno the whole chase resort seemed very unorganized like no one knows who is in charge.... read more
