This is my second time coming to Shingobees and I have no complaints. I've had great food every time. We are always seated promptly even on a fish fry Friday. We came for lunch on a sunny day and were able to enjoy the deck. There were quite a few files but I don't think that's something they really can control. Drinks and food came quick. The cheese curds were hot and the jalapenos ranch was very tasty. For my meal I got beef nachos and they load them up. They were very filling and I had left overs. We had to ask for a few things that were forgot by the waiter but overall it was a good meal. read more

Good food! We had the quessidilla and Cuban. Good fries. Don't get a side salad, not worth it. Fun cocktails, some even $6! Great view of the water if you sit in the bar. I'm sure the patio is 10/10 in the summer. Friendly staff. Overall worth it for a meal if you're in the area! read more

Very interesting place. Slot machines in one area, dining around the corner, outdoor seating overlooking the water, and a store in the lower level. They had a good-sized crowd, but we were seated right away and had good service. We ordered the "Oh No You Didn't" burger with island fries, Turkey Berry Club with macaroni & cheese, & two kids' meals. The kids' meals were good, and they came with an ice cream cone. We went downstairs to get the cone, they had an okay selection, and the individual working was great with the kids. The burger was huge, had to cut it with a knife to eat. The brisket on it had nice flavor, as did the onion jam. The island fries were crispy and had great flavor. The turkey club was really good, although the mac & cheese not so much. read more

Regret stopping here. I'd wanted a nice lunch with my mother and son after shopping in Walker. While there's a decent view of the lake from large windows, the service was very slow - and not very competent. Our cups of wild rice soup came out stone cold - not tepid, cold - and after we flagged, they were barely warm vs hot when they came out again. We decided not to give it a third try and asked for the soup to be removed from the bill, which it was. Waitress was not particularly apologetic. Our "Cuban sandwich" was mediocre. The boneless wings were so drenched in BBQ sauce, it was difficult to tell whether they were chicken or not. Do NOT recommend. read more

If you want rude treatment by an old lady manager the moment you walk in the door ... if you want to have the manager scowl and roll her eyes at you ... if you want a restaurant that has zero interest in sitting you at a table ... if you want to be greeted by a "Karen" ... if you want to see other customers looking irritated because of the poor service ... if you want to be told by other customers that they have been waiting for a long time just to have their drinks delivered ... then Shingobee on the Bay is the place for you. We had an enjoyable early dining experience here on 06/14/2022. I didn't take photos - sorry. But I'm sure you can find examples elsewhere on the site. Beware: the portions are massive! My husband and I shared the Pasta Alfredo with Shrimp. The bowls were delivered to our table along with a tasty garlic bread wedge. My husband gobbled up his generous serving (he LOVES pasta!). I was able to savor half and was well sated. Our hosts shared a huMUNgous Oh No You Did Not burger. And man - it was a thing of beauty. (Note to self: next time!) We all shared an appetizer serving of Onion Rings served with Ranch Dressing. Do it - well worth the calories. My husband ordered a delightful Duck Pond pint. Creamy, darkish and delicious. I had a Samuel Adams Seasonal. It was grand, but believe me, I will choose the Duck Pond in the future. And believe me, we will be back! What has happened here? Terrible uncaring wait staff, Long waits for cold food, mixed up and missing orders, forgotten drinks and condiments while prices keep going up. It took an hour and 5 minutes to get our cold food after waiting 20 minutes to order. We were just getting up to walk out when the mixed up plates were delivered. I had to ask for ketchup after ordering burgers and fries. 2nd drink never came and it was time to just leave. To top it off we were seated in the corner in the very musically noisy carnival sounding casino. The hostess needs to retire as well. Too bad. read more

We stopped in here in our way back from Walker, it looked promising. The older woman working as a greeter sat us by the casino area, right by the front door. Instead of sitting by the windows overlooking the lake, we got stuck in the corner by the slot machines as an after thought. Our waitress seemed to be trying, but was semi-rude. I asked about gluten free options as I have celiac disease. She said they had gluten free buns. When asked if they warmed burger buns on the same grill they cooked burgers, she replied, "Probably." I tried to explain cross contamination, but was met with irritation. I chose not to eat with the rest of my party as I didn't want to spend the rest of the evening sick. We advised we had separate checks and the rest of the party placed their order. The service was slow and the food was below average for the prices they were charging. We asked the hostess for our bill, she asked who our server was, we replied the young woman working. We asked her to go look for her as we had completed the meals over 30 minutes before. She simply stared at my husband as if he were stupid and shook her head in annoyance. He came to sit back down after making this request and she continued to stare at him to the point where she made us all uncomfortable. We finally got our bill, which was a combined bill, but at that point we were so thankful we could do leave, we simply paid it and worked it out amongst our group. There are far better places to eat in the surrounding area. I would avoid Shingobee! read more

I've only eaten here twice so far. Once was the weekend brunch, and once for dinner. The weekend brunch, was really good. They had a little bit of everything: eggs benidict, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, bacon, even chicken and waffles. I'm not a chicken and waffles type, but after hearing others talk about how good the chicken was I gave it a try (minus the waffle and syrup). The checked was REALLY good. Fresh and crispy. I don't think I had a complaint about anything I ate. For dinner we all ordered burgers. A couple order the Cheesecurd Burger, one regular burger and a Bacon Cheeseburger. Everyone really liked everything and we talked after we left about how good the portions were and how delicious everything was. read more

We had lunch for the first time at Shingobee. I had a mushroom Swiss burger & JoJo potatoes., it was great. My hubby had the hot beef sandwich which was terrible. The beef was a sirloin steak that the steak knife could hardly get thru. They need to use shaved slices of roast beef. We will come back but avoid the hot beef. Service was good. read more

We decided to try the "new place" in Walker. Just a short distance to the east of town. This place was open for less than 2 months. Very nice place on the inside. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Inside had a very nice bar with plenty of beers on tap. More than enough televisions to entertain the sports fan. Hostess seated us outdoors but could use a quick reminder to be nice to customers especially when they ask you to do something not in you job description. Waitress finally arrived to take our drinks order. She was very quick and efficient with our drinks as well as taking our food order. Food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time and everyone reported hot food. I ordered the specialty burger, "Oh No You Didn't". Burger was topped with roast beef and Canadian Bacon with a couple of cheese mixed in. The title and the price gave the indication this would be a huge burger. "Not so big" but had good flavor. I couldn't decide if if should have BBQ sauce or ketchup on it. I went with BBQ sauce. Sauce really enhances the burger!! All other people in our party reported good tasting burgers. Pasta dish was reportedly bland with no flavor, Rueben had roast beef instead of corn beef? Side salad is huge! Lastly fish had good taste. Outdoor seating was very relaxing with the eagles putting on a great fishing show!! Place has plenty of boat docks for those arriving by water. This place is on its way to being a five star place. With a few changes and more experience under their belt, could make this the go to place around Walker. read more

Food: wonderful! Service: abysmal! Lunchtime crowd, not overly busy (not all booths and tables had customers). Seated promptly, drink orders taken, filled, then ordered food. All normal. Finished first drinks, waitress came by to refill drinks and apologized for the wait with a lame excuse about the kitchen. Time began to drag. We noticed that SEVERAL tables and booths that came in well after us were eating. Waitress came to refill again with another excuse and that our food was coming up. It wasn't. The people who had been eating were now gone. At the hour and a half point (waaaay too long!) one of our party loudly complained so that kitchen staff could hear. The waitress became defensive, always a poor decision. We weren't sure if it was the waitress or the kitchen that dropped the ball. Within two minutes our food came out and was delicious! We loved this place for lunch, but dinner time is a disaster. They don't have enough help when the restaurant is crowded. Unexpected pleasure eating here. We were tired and hungry after a long drive, and our waitress Lori ...who was pretty new....treated us like royalty! Checked in with the bar tender with questions we had about beverages. Perfect drinks by the way!! Hub had fish and chips-walleye! The BEST he has ever had when ordering fish and chips! I had the walnut salad. It was huge and fresh. Such a great dining experience. The mater-de even stopped by to check and see how things were going, as did another wait staff member. Even though there is a casino adjacent to the dining area it was not too loud. We stopped by the next night again for dinner, but they were under staffed and had a longer wait, but WILL stop in again when in the area. read more

Food has always been good at the Shingobee. Service can be slow sometimes but your in lake country so take it easy. They have rotating food and drink specials each day. Wild rice soup is worth having every time you go. Nachos are best around Walker. Marina and c store is handy in the summer when out boating as well. read more

I've been to Shingobee's for lunch and for dinner. I'm addicted to the raspberry salad with 2 good sized pieces of walleye. It's the best salad I've ever eaten, which explains why I've ordered it every time I've been there. I wish I'd taken a picture because if you like walleye, blue cheese crumbles, pecans, onion strings, and dried cranberries, you'll love this salad. The chef has come out every single time to see how we liked our meals. How many places do that? Service can be a bit slow but it's worth the wait! read more

Went there for an early lunch today with a group of 10. The food was quite good but our experience was marred by the staff. First off, they were rather put off by the fact we had a large group despite the place being nearly empty. Secondly, they wouldn't allow us to push tables together so our entire group could sit together despite tons of empty space on their deck and tables that were easily moved. No clear reason was given for this policy but our multiple appeals to sanity were shot down in a hurry. We were able to make the best of an awkward situation by playing musical chairs ("NO MORE THAN 8 AT THIS TABLE!" was the command) but we've never run into anything like this in the past. Just asinine. So...good work from the kitchen and a nice setting but it's unlikely we'll be back given the tepid, customer-repelling attitudes from management and staff. read more

Unlike in the past, things have changed for the better at Shingobee. Cory at the bar and Willis turning out fantastic consistent food from the kitchen are always a pleasant addition to the experience. Some of the best wings to be found and a Alfredo you'll be hard pressed to find done better are some of our favorites although there are many great menu items. P.S Sometimes you have to be patient for lack of staffing but what the heck. Enjoy the lake view. read more

Long wait... our waitress admitted that she had forgotten about us after taking our drink order, which I commend her for. But, the wait for our entire order (drinks, appetizer, and entrees) was too long. Margarita was a higher price than most and didn't taste good. Our waitress told us, as we were paying, that she wasn't a server. Also looked like they didn't have a bartender and were all trying to make their own drinks. Don't know if they were short handed but definitely not a good plan b... On another note... view was good! Burgers were yummy and the Alfredo was delicious! read more

We have tried this place multiple times in hopes that the staff and service would improve but unfortunately it hasn't. The food is good but we had to wait over an hour to get it and it wasn't busy or understaffed. Wait staff is not quick to come around and ask if we needed anything. Staff also doesn't seem to know much about their own menus when asked questions. Love the location, the ability to pull up in the boat, the c-store, but the staff has not improved since they first opened. If you are coming just for drinks and apps you might be ok but if you want an entree expect to wait a long time. Also, don't get even remotely fancy with a drink order because the bartenders probably won't know how to make it! read more

Horrible service. We ordered all of our food shortly after we sat down and got our food about 45 minutes later. Our waitress did not bring out our wings as they were sitting for about 30 minutes. We had to ask for them. Our waitress was extremely rude and didn't seem like she wanted to be there, she didn't check in with until we were ready to tab out. We will definitely not be returning. Went there tonight. Sat at the bar. Service was just awful...at the bar! We weren't in a hurry, and since they were pretty busy, we didn't expect much. But our bartender hardly ever stopped to see if we needed anything. He wouldn't even make eye contact when walking by us. Our drinks were empty for long periods of time and we always had to flag somebody down to help us. The icing on the cake was when we watched my dinner sit up under the heat lamps for about 20 minutes! We finally flagged down our bartender and had to ask him to retrieve my meal. It's a sports bar with lots of TVs to view-8 in fact. Weather permitting there is outdoor seating with a nice view of the lake. Best appetizer is the cheese curds but it serves 4-5 people. The service is surly. Quite rude when they turn you away (we wanted to sit outside and she discouraged us from waiting for something to open up). This happened to my husband a couple of weeks ago on a business lunch. It was chaotic and they were turned away. Food GOOD, outside seating is lovely. Our waitress was good when we did eat there. We stopped with our boat at the Shingobee Bay restaurant. They were not busy but were unsure whether they could seat us because we didn't have reservations. They sat us outside and then ignored us until we left. No menus, no nothing. Waitress seated several other tables around us and just gave us the "look" every time she walked by. If there was an option for zero stars, that's what I give them. We'll never be back, not that they care. read more
