Coconut margarita
Claire B.

We had a great experience for dinner at The 502 during our weekend visit to the area. The 502 is located within Chase on the Lake resort. They had indoor and outdoor seating with a view of the lake. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. We were informed the wait staff was a little backed up, but that they'd do their best to serve us in a timely manner. I ordered a coconut margarita (tequila, lime & cream of coconut) which was delicious! The glass came rimmed with toasted coconut. For dinner, I ordered the BLT on cranberry & wild rice bread. It came perfectly toasted with garlic aioli, tomato, lettuce, and a generous amount of crispy bacon. The fries were also bomb! Overall, a great restaurant option to check out if you're in the area.

Walleye dinner

The good : Great food. Walleye dinner was fabulous! Drink prices reasonable. Great view. Service overall not customer focused. Was told that they were busy and probably we wouldn't get in by server very rudely. Manager seated us instead. 20 mins until food order was taken. Without reservation they place u in rear of deck. Then waited 40 minutes for food. System crashed so they replaced walleye sandwich with dinner. Casey was better server. Overall disappointing.

If you want to eat and have the best view of Leech Lake, The 502 is the place to be. It is located in the hotel Chase on the Lake, a huge hotel located right in Walker on the lake. It is the prime location to be! The food here was good, but something out of this world. We got a cheese fondue, shrimp salad, Caesar salad, blackberry bbq wings, and a Cuban sandwich. All together, the food wasn't bad at all. Our favorites were the salads and the blackberry bbq wings. They were tasty! You don't come here for the food though. You come to enjoy the nice view of the lake. After eating, you can stroll to the public docks and sit on the water or walk right into Walker. Super convenient. Overall, decent food, decent service, amazing view of Leech Lake!

Cheese curds

I really hesitated between 2 or 3 stars, I decided on 3 because I think their food isn't so horrible, just the service. I came with my mom, my grandma and my boyfriend. My mom and I shared cheese curds and everyone else ordered an entree. My bf asked for a burger without cheese and I ordered the berry salad, I also asked without cheese. The waitress wrote everything down but for some odd reason our meals both came with cheese. My bf told the food runner "I ordered this without cheese" and the food runner then said "umm I'm just delivering this" no apology or, oh sorry let me correct that for you. He eventually took the burger and returned but as pretty rude about it. I just accepted the cheese on my salad and brushed it away, it was everywhere so I felt bad about having them make a good one. I think this place needs a serious improvement on their customer service and actually listening to their customers. This place has a great view from the patio but I'm not sure if I would come back here again.

Delicious! Gorgeous views! Awesome service! Can't say enough about my dinner tonight at 502. I had the Gnocchi with butternut squash, bacon, and a cream sauce.... nom nom. Kelly, my waitress was wonderful. So friendly and sweet! Love this place at Chase on the Lake! And did I mention the the awesome views!?!? PS- at least on the day I was here, she said "Sunday's are all day happy hour" meaning $3 house wines and domestic beers, and $3 OFF appetizers.

Walleye sandwich

Such a cute place right on the water at Leech Lake. The food is yummy too! We got the lobster Mac, country fried steak and walleye sandwich. All were delicious! The tomato wild rice soup with Gorgonzola was amazing! Also highly recommend the cheese fondue with wild rice bread. So good! I give this place 4 stars instead of 5 because the salad was turning brown, the pasta was slightly over cooked and we couldn't ever get drink refills. All in all a great lakeside experience with yummy food!

This is definitely not a $23 Sirloin.

If you really need to see the lake while you eat, this is probably one of your only options. It's very apparent they know they have a captive audience here, and it seems as though raising prices is their way of trying to trick you into thinking you're eating at a nice restaurant. This is sort of like buffet level food at inflated five star prices. Service was good. But they said I would be getting squash with the veggies, but I got broccoli. I hate broccoli on my plate. Bread is excellent.

Barely average food. Barely average service. Average beverages all for above average prices. Left hungry. Will not be back.

The New York strip was gray, so gray. The veg was mush. The fondue didn't appear. And the service, ugh.

Karen Sposato, owner, and Eduardo Nogal, Director of Operations were both in attendance. Neither the food nor the wine disappointed! Chef Justin made an insanely delicious five course meal that hit every taste bud in all the right ways and the wine paired so perfectly with each course. I would say that the scallops were probably the best I've ever tasted and the short rib skewers were incredible, melt in your mouth. Lastly the dessert which the chef called milk cake was like a cross between Tres Leches and tiramisu. The cake layers soaked up the milky caramel sauce and it was sublime. As for the wines, the Chardonnay was my favorite of the whites, light on the palette and a bit of citrus and just a hint of oak. The Cabernet Franc was a knock it out of the park red. It had fruity flavors to begin and then turned dark and spicy with rich peppery flavors. We can't wait for the next wine dinner with the crew at Cru! Also, can't wait for our wine to be delivered!

Negatives: I'm not sure anyone in the kitchen was actually tasting the food. The toast under the pate' was hard as wood. The cod was so salty it was almost like canned anchovies, as if it had accidentally been salted four or five times. The rabbit was extremely dry, as were the roasted carrots. The flan was so pretty and tasted fine, but the dried apple decoration was soggy and chewy. Everything looked so very pretty - I wish the food had tasted as good as it looked.

ALCOHOL CATERING REVIEW:…read more The bartender from Spanky's was friendly, professional, and kept drinks flowing efficiently throughout our wedding. They created a welcoming atmosphere for our guests. Our signature drinks--beer for him and mojitos for me--were done perfectly, and we received many compliments on them. As a note, the venue requires Spanky's for all alcohol services, so they are affiliated. There was a hiccup with our honeymoon fund jar and bar tips. We had pre-ordered drinks through Spanky's, and the required gratuity was over $500 before any services were provided. We would have preferred the opportunity to tip based on service. We also weren't aware that tip jars would be out for the liquor items (venue responsibility, not the bar's), and the jar wasn't labeled to indicate what had already been pre-tipped. On the wedding day, the bar staff ended up moving our honeymoon fund jar off the bar, and unfortunately, it did not receive any contributions. Overall, the bartenders were professional and pleasant, and after messaging with the owner, we learned the situation was unintentional. Spanky's resolved the issue promptly, and the owner was a pleasure to work with, taking steps to improve the process for future couples.

One of the specials was a smoked salmon and dill dip I asked if it was served hot or cold and was told hot so I said we'd take it. Somehow we were served the spinach and artichoke dip; it was flavorless and piping hot but also cold in some spots as was the rest of the food. My fiancé ordered the porter house pork chop with the mashed potatoes and sauerkraut and it came with a salad. I ordered the Trust me which is all chefs choice. I told the waitress I was allergic to parsnips since I knew that was a vegetable option but didn't give any other parameters for my meal. My fiancés pork-chop was overcooked and dry the barbecue sauce was the only thing on our table the whole meal that had flavor. The chef prepared for me a sword fish over couscous in a béarnaise sauce. The first few bites of the fish were way over cooked and dry the last few bites were moist and cooked well the couscous was both crunchy (undercooked) as well as mushy (overcooked) neither the fish nor the couscous had any flavor which was very disappointing. Along with the fish was a petite sirloin which was very tough and dry and lacked any flavor; there was chimichuri sauce on the steak that definitely wasn't made correctly it was sweet and didn't taste at all like parsley. Under the steak was roasted broccoli and cauliflower which was also somehow overcooked but not cooked enough which seemed to be the theme of the evening. When the waitress asked how everything was I said fine because honestly I was so over it and had eaten a decent amount already since I was so hungry. Needless to say we won't be back.
