Every time I come to Georgia a visit to Thatcher's is a must. Love BBQ and this place serves up great BBQ. Sorry for the picture but just could not wait. They have several locations and this was a first time visit to this location but it did not disappoint. Server was friendly and checked on us often. Portion size was good and restaurant definitely embraced the small town feel of Summerville. Would highly recommend any of the Thatcher's locations. We ordered the pull pork which was really good. So... basically 8 of 10! They have tons of options to choose from! Almost too much, cuz the menu is a bit overwhelming. Lots of great choices and the service was great and food was good, too. However, I opted for a "healthier" option and got a salad. It was supposed to have black olives but did not. It was supposed to have avocado and there were a few tiny pieces. Not a fan of the hot brisket on top of lettuce... made the whole salad seem warm and soggy. But that was okay. My son's burger was awesome! They are very generous with portions sizes and honestly had enough fries and tots for an army. Will definitely be back! read more

Holy moly. This place had the best Fried Green Tomatoes I have ever eaten...and I eat them every time I have the opportunity. (So I'm a little bit of a FGT expert). The sweet potato tots were cinnamon and sweet - different than any type of sweet potato fry - delicious. They were out of pimento cheese - which was a disappointment - bc we wanted to order the pimento cheese burger with FGT. So I opted for a pork bbq sandwich. It was standard. Go here for the sides!! We had decided to go to the crushed tomato for pizza. The power was out, so we quickly decided on Thatcher's. They have about 5 stores in the area. The place was packed and we ended up waiting about 15 minutes. There are about 17-20 tables in the whole place. The service was friendly, welcoming, fast, and efficient both in the food and payment of the bill. There was 3 choices in sauce; a spicy one, a mustard based, and their original which was a bit sweeter and mild. All three were really well prepared and good. I don't eat pork, both of my buddies ordered ribs and the pulled pork. I had smoked chicken and brisket. My friends commented several times how tender the pork and ribs were. The chicken was tender and just barely a touch dry; that's what you get with smoked chicken though. Just added a bunch of the delicious sauce and I loved it. Also tried one of the seasonal cobblers (peach) which comes with vanilla bean ice cream and I tried the strawberry pudding made with fresh cut up strawberries and light whip cream. read more

The food was ok, nothing extraordinary. We waited 30-40 minutes for our appetizer. I had the pig pen (fried green tomatoes). They were really really good! The hubby had Brunswick stew. He could have had seconds!! He ordered the chop plate with potato salad, baked beans, and French fries. I had the grilled chicken tenders, collard, okra, and broccoli and cheese bites. Again, the food was average. Like I would cook at home. The low rating was due to the time. It was over an hour before we got our food, it appeared they kept talking and filling to-go orders before in house. We had to ask for our food and the waitress didn't come back to check on us until our food came. She came once during the hour and a half to refill our drinks. This was our 2nd visit and likely our last. We first visited a year ago and it was great, so we thought we'd return. Our 2nd visit today was horrible. The service was incredibly slow, which can be okay IF the food is hot when it arrives but that was not the case here. We had to ask for refills on numerous occasions and it was overwhelming listening to the cooks yelling in the back. read more

The buffalo chicken nachos were out of this world. Home made chips with nacho cheese and huge chunks of chicken. Extremely filling. My wife had the pulled pork platter which she thought was great. Would definitely recommend. read more

I'm going to give 3 stars since we've only ever eat there one time and they were probably having an off day since it was their first week open, but even though I am in walking distance to them I don't feel the need to go back. The meat was incredibly salty, my fried squash was of the bland, frozen variety and a few pieces were still cold. The potato salad was decent, but for the OMG price per plate for the portions, etc. I'd rather wait and eat at one of the barbecue places in Rome where we've consistently got great food. read more

My husband and I love Thatcher's. We have eaten there many times and the food is always delicious and the service is great. The Man of Smoke sandwich is so yummy, we can't quit ordering it. We also tried the Thatcher Bucket. French Fries covered in melted cheddar cheese, Jack cheese, hamburger meat, grilled onions, dill relish and Thatcher sauce. Yum!
