Nice friendly service, but the food was somewhat disappointing. The BBQ was a little dry (small portion in tin foil). The cole slaw was ok, but needed more acid (vinegar). The potato salad was very good. I am pretty sure the baked beans came from straight from a can, which is ok, if you smoke them and add brisket. The BBQ sauce is Cattleman's from a bottle. We were getting hungry when we saw smoke billowing from a smoker in a parking lot on the side of the road. That smoke is what drew us in to Bama Boys BBQ. We decided to split a brisket plate and three sides. The shredded brisket was very tender and really good, the accompanying sauce, sweet but not too. Unfortunately, the sides were hit and miss. The mayo/vinegar slaw was good but the beans and mac and cheese were disappointing. The beans were just meh - Bush's beans from the grocery store have more flavor. I love the melty cheesiness of real mac and cheese and this just wasn't. The mushy noodles didn't help. The plate was rounded out by a hamburger bun - once again, nothing special. We split the $17 plate and had more than enough to eat. Though I really didn't want to, we passed on the banana pudding. Oh, BTW, the smoker that drew us in - it was just for show - it was just making smoke, not BBQ. read more

They are at the main crossroads in a very small town. This was my first visit and was at lunchtime. I had the BBQ pork plate with 3 sides. The pork was moist and smokey. I tried both their sauces, the hot and the sweet, and both were flavorful and could stand firm on their own. Had the sides of potato salad, baked beans, and coleslaw and every side was solid! They do have a drive thru and offer inside dining (picnic tables) or carry out. The place isn't much to look at but it was clean, staff was friendly, and you'll be in for an awesome BBQ meal. Simple food. Their spicy sauce is the thing (it's not that spicy) and sweet sauce is not something any real bbq lover should ever use. My only comment is that I wish they had sliced brisket and not just chopped. But everyone enjoyed it. They were short staffed the day we went and the service was still good. My husband and I were driving thru this small town. I saw pretty good reviews on yelp. And loved the name "Bama Boys". We are from the Memphis TN area and love some good BBQ. Trying out different BBQ is something we enjoy. Yes, there is not great BBQ out there folks, even in Memphis. But, BAMA BOYS nailed it!!! We had BBQ w hot sauce. It was DELICIOUS!! Super moist, chopped and tender. Their Hot Sauce was excellent. (Had choices of sweet, mild, hot). I also had their potato salad. Excellent, traditional southern potato salad. And again, excellent were the turnip greens. I'm sad we didn't try the ribs, but we were on a day trip and in a little hurry to get back to TN. Soooo, definitely stop & eat here!!!! Owner yelling at staff was very unprofessional. Got 3 sandwiches, a miniature bag of potato chips and a 16 oz soda for $23. We waited for to go food, and started eating immediately in our car. The meat was room temperature at best. Far below a safe temperature of 140f. The sauce tasted like it was out of a retail bottle. The buns were very weak and sogging as if the meat came out of a holding bin. Just not worth the money we paid. Not worth a second visit. read more

One of the few places to eat in Henagar. They have dine-in and a convenient drive thru for the go. The BBQ is very good and juicy. Generous portions, especially the BBQ potato. Sadly, we asked for extra sauce on the side and only received the small amount of sauce (see photo) and none at all on the BBQ. I love their loaded potatoes with BBQ. They are big enough and delicious enough to have for two meals and the price is good also. Their staff is super friendly. If you take the back roads from Huntsville to Atlanta, you know that there isn't much along the way other than fast junk food - Bama Boys is an exception. Stopped in here and was pleasantly surprised by the food! I had the BBQ baked potato and it was big enough to feed me for two days. Passing through from Atlanta driving to Huntsville and found this little gem. We are pretty much barbecue snobs and usually pretty critical about folks barbecue. So this is a restaurant now, not a food truck any more. I had their specialty, the loaded Baked Potato with Pulled Pork and Apple Pie. Gotta tell you guys, this was REALLY good. If you are taking the back roads from Huntsville to Atlanta which I did today, this was just what the Doctor ordered. Friendly and excellent BBQ, best pulled pork I've had in years. So the drive is beautiful and this little gem should be your pitstop on the way. There's a Golden Arches next to it but honestly, I don't know how it would stay in business with food this good right next door. 3 of us ate for less than $40. Great deal! I got to the place 10 minutes before they closed and they were still super accommodating and welcoming. I ordered the BBQ Baked potato which is fabulous and HUGE ! It's also loaded to the max with butter, sour cream,cheese sauce, or shreds, pulled pork bbq that's fabulous , made fresh daily on site btw, and your choice of bbq sauces to go on top. The spud itself is probably a 1 pound baker gone crazy on steroids! It was a super meal and a half for under 10$ drink included. That's cheap enough for half of the food I received here!
