We ate here everyday of our mountain getaway. Breakfast, lunch, I didn't get dinner here but they have delicious looking casseroles that you take home & pop into the oven. Yum! And no joke, they looked super delicious. Cheesy, creamy, meat and carbs: omg. Lots of wine and beer. Tons and tons of gifts and trinkets to take home and commemorate your mountain visit. I didn't photograph much of it but they had great items. There's a bar to eat or sip your coffee right near the front or a large side room with ample seating. The breakfast biscuit sandwiches were off the chart! If they weren't homemade biscuits, I don't want to know because they were delicious. Definitely stop in here. Grabbed a bite to eat after a hike at desoto falls! Very yummy and fresh food! Several people got the soup of the day (taco) with cornbread, Italian sandwich with chips, stuffed pork baked potato, and pizza. I got the cold Cessear salad wrap with chicken and it was very tasty! Limited seating so our party of 12 had to split up. The gift shop had lots of local nick nack stuff too! You can also get things to go in the grocery market store like deli meats and cheeses. I saw some people buying eggs and bread. Greta place! Would highly recommend if you need a light lunch! read more

We've stayed in Mentone twice now. Total of 13 days. I believe I have been here 6 times now. They are the closest most convenient place for any type of specialty food near Mentone. Excellent selection to tide you over when you need some foods. They have almost anything you could need in a pinch. Everyone is always nice and I really dig the "upscale small town feel" you get here. Is that a thing? If it's isn't, I just made it up and I want full credit. Pizzas are tasty. They have beer. This is a cute store, by far the most convenient in Mentone, but be aware you're going to pay a little more for the convenience. The family pack of BBQ was delicious (we didn't try the pizzas, but they smelled great), they have plenty of drinks and other convenience items, and they also have an ample selection of touristy goods if that's your thing. The people working are friendly, they are open 7 days a week (unlike many places in town), and it's a clean nice stop. read more

We stopped here to have lunch on our way to Desoto Falls (located 8 minutes away). We had the pepperoni pizza and the Philly cheesesteak pizza (pictured). The kids devoured theirs and all of us adults enjoyed ours tremendously. A friend had a sandwich and said it was delicious as well. I've had their salads on a previous trip and they are large and delicious. Big enough to split if your going to have it with leftover pizza. In addition to good food they have amazing customer service and an adorable shop. They also have a clean, single person bathroom which is important when traveling with small kids. Cute little restaurant with a gift shop, next to a gas station. The shop is open until 6 pm every day, but the kitchen closes at 2 or 3 pm, depending on the day. Pizza is available anytime the shop is open, even if the kitchen is closed. They have a small bar there with a few types of wine and a selection of local and national beers. We had the pizza and it was good. One pizza was enough for 2 people. read more

The food here is very good. We drive an hour to eat here. We always have 3-4 people with us. Paul the manager/waiter there is so nice. He always checks on us and ask how the food is. The store is cute. Read my other review. Now... the problem. Heaven help you if you ever get the large tall girl to wait on you. She is not helpful at all. I guess we made her mad on one of our trips up there. We were there about a month ago. As we walked up to the counter she yells out to us " we're out of pizza's!" We regrouped outside. We decided to go ahead and just eat a sandwich or soup then. We walked back in and this time she yells out "the kitchen is closed." We just walked out. So today we called and found out that Paul was working. We rushed up there only to find him gone and the tall heavy set, not so nice woman, working. She didn't let us down on her substandard attitude that she has. This person doesn't know a thing about the hospitality business. Even my daughter picked up on her rudeness today. She brought a pizza out, we had three, I was looking to see who's it was. She said the toppings very harshly and rude like we were stupid. Never a "thank you or how's the food." We have decided not to come back as long as she is working there. I can spend my $$$ somewhere else. read more

Ordered Buffalo chicken pizza and asked for ranch to be added. Didn't see or taste ranch and I could deal with that but it had onions all over it. I hate onions. Nowhere on the menu did it say onions would be on this pizza. Not the way I wanted to start my vaca in Mentone. When asked if I liked the pizza I mentioned I didn't care for it much because I don't like onions and no response was given. Didn't take leftovers with me. Disappointing. Previous experiences at Mentone Market have been good and it's great to have a place in Mentone with draft beer and meals on days and nights other places don't open. That's why it's a 3 star for me in this review not a 1. I still go there but will ask questions about any food i order and I suggest you do the same. read more

Spent the afternoon at Desoto Falls and stopped by the Mentone Market for a drink. We had never been there before so we didn't know they served food. But to our surprise, they had a full menu. We opted to order the 4 chicken tender platter with baked beans and onion rings to share. When our order came out, we received pulled pork with baked beans and onion rings. When I told the waitress that I had ordered the chicken tenders, she showed me the ticket and said "it says pulled pork." I apologized for the misunderstanding but we asked for chicken tenders. She seemed frustrated and asked someone else for help. After much to-do we finally received a chicken tender platter. Then the manger came by and said, "If you will pay for the tenders we will call it good". Hmmm, this wasn't my mistake, but I didn't feel like arguing. After eating, I went back to the register and told them I needed to pay for 4 tenders. They charged me $7.36 for just the tenders. (The platter with two sides is only $7.50) Again, I was having a great day and didn't feel like arguing. Looking past the mixups. The restaurant was clean and touristy. Had plenty of SWAG you could purchase for Mentone and Desoto Falls. The onion rings were of the pre-made frozen variety but cooked fresh. The baked beans had a nice vinegar BBQ sauce flavor with pieces of bacon mixed in. What we tried of the pulled pork was salty, yet moist. The chicken tenders seemed cooked in burnt oil but were hot, moist and fresh. Staff was friendly minus the mixup but seemed overwhelmed by the amount of customers at that time. They were also out of certain selections of beer that another customer had asked for and were out of potatoes as well. Wasn't bad but probably wouldn't stop there again if I was in the area. read more

After all of the rave reviews, I was excited to visit this establishment. Upon waking in the door I actually had to greet 2 two ladies behind the counter. They barely acknowledged me in an "oh so snotty way" I almost walked out but really wanted to give it a chance. As I'm walking around the store these two ladies (mother and daughter I'm guessing) were having a conversation about a male in the family having issues. NONE OF MY BUSINESS but somehow due to your loud conversation I couldn't hear myself think. Very unprofessional. NEVER ONCE asked me if I needed any help, how my day was, where I was from, couldn't even crack a smile. The younger gal looked annoyed to be there. Really made me rethink my decision to stay and shop. I'm all about supporting local businesses and small vendors. The store does have some overly priced cute items. The other reason I came was to buy lunch items for a picnic at Desoto Falls. I simply bought a Turkey wrap, a pasta salad, and pickled okra. The cheese on the wrap was hard, and the tomato was mushy. The pasta had absolutely NO taste at all. It was like eating pasta in vegetable oil w/ no seasonings. The pickled okra isn't theirs but sold by Hornsby Farms. IT WAS AWEFUL!!! Taste like pure cloves and I like cloves but yuck! Not in okra. What a total disappointment. I will never be back and wouldn't recommend. The food I can deal with but the attitudes of these 2 ladies killed the whole experience. Such a selection of local and near by honeys, tee shirt and sweat shirt selection and Mentone engraved ball style caps too. The staff were sooo helpful and very friendly and I appreciate that kind of hospitality!! Since I didn't eat my food there I have no clue of the eating area...but the ambiance is so inviting and heartfelt as you walk in the door....I live in lower Alabama and would definitely come here on my next trip up the mountain!!! read more

To my surprise, you weren't the same gas station I visited four years ago! But when I finally got the story from a local cop, and figured you were that old gas station, just rebuilt, we went in so my husband could be wow'd. Sadly, you stopped serving at 3:00 and it was 3:02. But I begged your manager, Angela, told her our story of driving 30 hours to get to you and she was incredibly gracious and asked her kitchen to make us a potato with some of your soft, moist, delicious, and flavorful bbq pork on top. We were in Mentone for a week and found a reason to go to Mentone Market 4 times, though only once for lunch. They sell eggs and produce from The Farm at Windy Hill...great stuff! For our lunch there my wife had a bacon cheeseburger and I had a mushroom cheeseburger. The meat was good and flavorful and well prepared, and the accompanying Kettle chips were plentiful. Service here is so friendly and efficient and the prices very reasonable. For what it is worth, I would have ordered the pulled pork, which is highly recommended by locals, but my wife cannot eat anything with garlic and they use garlic powder in their bbq seasoning. I would never have heard the end of it if I had ordered the pulled pork when she couldn't. read more

After several visits, the Mentone Market has become our "go-to" place. The food is solid across the board and they also have a nice beer selection. Sandwiches are served on fresh artisan bread, a huge upgrade from the white bread and cheap, pre-packaged cold cuts that we experienced at Green Leaf just up the road. The burgers are delicious as are the chicken fingers. The chicken and waffles were as good as I've had anywhere. The pizza was a pleasant surprise and highly recommended. I haven't tried the BBQ, but we will soon. The onion rings are excellent. Full breakfast is only served on weekends, but biscuit sandwiches are available daily. The full breakfast was very good, but a little sparse with only 2 small sausage links on the plate. read more

A cool place to stop if you're commuting between Huntsville and Atlanta. This is a funky little artistic community and the Market has art and T-shirts for sale inside. They have the usual gas-station type fare as well and some little pizzas they warm up on a conveyor type machine. I'm too scared to try them, but I'm always fascinated by the machine. read more

Stopped there last fall and loved taco night. Tacos were delicious and great cold beer. Friendly people and clean,quaint atmosphere.

I love this place for a quick pick up of grocery items, or evening muchies. They also have a little cafe within and of course a gas station. I feel right at home when I walk in, there is a seating area where people just sit and visit a while and catch up on the latest community 'happenings'. Laid back but they do not neglect their customers. I have come to know the owners since we moved here and I enjoy the Mentone Market. read more
