Fun, relaxing atmosphere. Nice bartenders. Good prices. We hang out here every time we're in town with friends.

First time visiting, and not only was the food to the moon fantastic with portions big enough to feed the inhabitants of Jupiter! but the man serenaded me. Yes, I got dinner and a show. The brisket? Tender enough to not use your dentures The pulled pork? Plentiful like it was trying to apologize for every bad BBQ I've ever had. And that Georgia sweet sauce? A whole spiritual experience. The green beans came in seasoned like they had something to prove, and the banana puddin'... well, that was the kind of dessert that makes you rethink your life choices in the best way. Staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Loved the rustic eclectic decor! 10/10 would celebrate being fabulous here again.

We pulled up right at 5:00 when they opened and were surprised to see a line already waiting outside the door. That's usually a pretty good sign. We waited about 30 minutes before ordering, but nobody seemed too surprised -- clearly this place has a following. It had that small-town, no-frills BBQ-joint feel, and between the line out front, the smoking grill, and the first bite of ribs, it felt like we had found one of those places people know about for a reason. We had the three-meat sampler with ribs, brisket, and sausage. It was plenty of food and a great way to try the menu. The ribs and sausage had a nice kick to them and did not disappoint. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the brisket was lean, cooked just right, and full of flavor. Robert runs a great operation. He took our order, served up the meats, and he and his crew kept everything moving in a friendly and welcoming way. There were Georgia, Texas, and Carolina sauces on the table, and honestly, all three were good. Nothing fancy or overdone here -- just solid barbecue that tastes like folks know what they're doing. It's not just good local BBQ. It's worth going out of your way for. Glad we made the drive. Wardlaw's is the real deal.

When we drove up, we could smell the hickory smoke and saw the smoker on the sidewalk in front. When we walked in, we were told that menus are on the checkout counter, so I went to grab 2, but before we knew it, the uncle of the owner started reading every item on the menu for an uncomfortably long time. I'm a visual guy so I need to read menus at my own pace. We ordered the lunch combo - 1/2 lb. smoked brisket with 2 sides, 1 sauce, and a fountain drink are included. My wife had the 4 rib lunch with 1 side, 1 sauce, and a drink. There are 4 sauces to choose from. I chose the hot & spicy that was thin and mild; my wife chose the "Bama sauce", a white vinegar & salad dressing sauce that was good. I chose the Brussels sprouts hash and warm German potato salad that were both delicious, and my favorite menu items overall! I was surprised to see the brisket in a foil-wrapped packet next to the bun thinking that this method kept the meat hot, but when I opened the packet, the meat was not hot, but nicely smoked. The brisket was unusually cut into pellet- sized pieces that were slightly dry, under seasoned, and undercooked to my liking, and kept falling out of the bun. I would have preferred the traditional sliced brisket sandwich piled high with some topping choices like homemade pickles, hot peppers, etc. On the positive side, my wife's ribs were huge and they even threw in a few burnt ends. I tried one and thought it was also under seasoned and dry. My wife loved her ribs and said it was tender and juicy! The ambiance is quirky and uninviting with a bar behind the checkout and a few tables. There was a paper sign arrow in the back showing that they have a patio, but you have to walk through a storage area and past the restroom to get there. There were 3 or 4 picnic tables and 1 small bar-height table with 2 chairs. We didn't realize until we left that they served wine and beer until we saw a beer sign over the bar. I'm assuming this place is fairly new and they've got some kinks to work out, but if you go, I'd recommend the ribs and sides!

Maybe it is because barbecue is embraced so strongly as a southern tradition that southerners embrace this culinary style with such passion or maybe it is that southern barbecue is simply that good and that incredible taste made it a tradition. The staff here was extremely friendly and outgoing. I went with the pulled pork and I have to say that I was overall impressed with my meal. I also appreciated the no-frills ambiance approach towards the place. There is nothing fancy or pretentious about barbecue and there is no need to sit in some place heavy on atmosphere when enjoying barbecue. Barbecue itself shines as the star of the meal and we don't need atmosphere. This was definitely an overall winner and I would definitely recommend the restaurant. I give it an overall five stars.

They really put their own millennial style to it and have ruined the taste of everything. At first I didn't even know they had new ownership, I hadn't been in a while and decided to come and try the new location out because I was visiting home and missed the food from here. I decided to get a little bit of everything so I could reminisce over the flavor I loved. Instead I was met with very dry chicken, and smaller pieces too for more money, and the jojos were my favorite but now they're kinda soggy? And I decided to buy a BBQ slider just to try it because I mean their name is literally BARBECUE PLACE, and it was the worst thing on the plate. I mean it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either, it's just default, bland, basic food. I will say the fries were good which is the only reason why I left 2 stars and not 1. Also I ordered their signature sauce but it turns out you can just get it for free in the restaurant so that was awesome having to spend a little extra money on something I didn't need to. - Rest in Peace Barbecue Place, you had a special place in my heart.
