Truly horrible food. Went here for breakfast a second time in two weeks, and asked the owner to please make sure my tots were hot this time, because they were cold last week. She said sure, and when I got my meal, the cook had just thrown the tots through the fryer again, making the most disgusting chunk of fry oil known to man. It was inedible, and I threw them away. Who serves that to customers? Wow, bad on so many levels. I would have returned and just asked for my money back, but didn't have time to wait in line again. Stay away from this place if you want even halfway decent food. And the hamburger meat is disgusting, obviously the absolute cheapest meat they can buy, and severely overcooked. Pulling up to this place looked like exactly what I was looking for an old burger joint that's been around forever after waiting in line for quite a bit. I was getting more excited cause I knew this must be good for people to wait so long After getting my double cheeseburgers and fries, I realized that getting a frozen burger at a local gas station would have been a better option Was a lot of food, but didn't have a whole lot of taste. I've wanted to stop in here for years but have always been deterred by the line. Today, we finally stopped in & I'm glad we did! I see a lot of the previous reviews were complaining about quality, but when I stop at a little roadside joint like this one I'm not expecting a gourmet burger so keep that in mind for my review. I'm trying to be as realistic & fair as possible. Yes, the wait was long, but you're getting made to order food, hence the wait. Nothing is sitting under a heat lamp waiting for you to order it. We got 4 burgers, multiple hotdogs, multiple sides, and 4 drinks. It took about 40 minutes, but we showed up when there was already a line & ordered lots of food so it was okay. The staff was extremely friendly. It was 2 ladies that were super nice & patient. They were understanding when we made substitutions or changed our orders. They also noticed I had 2 dogs in the back of the car & asked if they were allowed to have a treat. Service means a lot to me & they were excellent. The whole bag of food which probably weighed 10 pounds was only $37 too. You can't get a burger meal for less than $5 at many other places. The food was good. Was it a waygu/steakhouse/gourmet burger? No, but it satisfied my craving and was fresh. I got a burger with mustard, lettuce, onion & pickles & would order it again. The extreme fries were fresh & tasty, the tots were excellent, and the hotdogs were well made with lots of toppings. Our orders came out correct & without mistake, they even had thrown in some extra stuff in the bag (not sure if on purpose or by accident). Overall, I think this place is worth a visit. It's a fresher/nicer(& cheaper) alternative to something like a drive in burger joint. If you don't want to wait, maybe go somewhere else. But, I'm sure if you're first in line or show up when there isn't a line then you'll be fine & experience a typical fast food wait time. The staff was great & I feel better supporting somewhere like that versus a McDonald's or another chain. Also, know what you're getting into & don't be unrealistic. If you are picky, prefer things done your way, or want higher quality food, then stay at home or go to a sit down restaurant. I think Burger Shack is doing great & will continue to be successful! read more

Stopped in after being on the road all day and ordered a chili cheese dog. The name Burger Shack perfectly describes here as it is a small building with only drive through windows. Service was good and quick. They certainly embrace the age old wisdom of extending service with a smile. My hot dog was certainly well covered with chili and cheese and considering that it was $2.00, it was a good value. I have to knock it down to three stars simply because their hot dog chili had beans in it. I am a bit of a hot dog snob and that is an abomination. read more

This was very disappointing after the rave reviews. The coleslaw almost tasted like the cabbage was going bad and the dressing had no flavor. The hamburger was moist, but didn't have any flavor like it was all filler. The chicken sandwich was rubbery. The sweet tea was the only thing that tasted good. read more

Everything I've ever gotten there has been really really good! I know it sometimes has a waiting line but it's worth it!

We tried a few menu items, all were lacking. The Brunswick is what I call blender stew or meat shake- could drink it with a big straw. Bland. Rib sandwich is a McRib knockoff with a store-bought corn syrup enriched bbq sauce with a fake smoke taste- pure swill. Hamburgers were on wet buns. Fries were oddly coated- pass. The chili on the hot dog was likely out of a can- and full of beans. Literally 98% beans- very scant "meat". The prices seem very low until you realize they are preparing cheap food poorly. It's a mistake for me to try to eat a chili dog in my car. It's okay in your car. And it's not the chili dogs fault. This joint hand some mighty tasty vittles through a window. It's more of a hole somebody cut in the wall than a window. They've got a chili cheese dog I suspect might be more user friendly than the chili dog. I should have gotten that. Not that it wasn't a good chili dog. It was. Just messy from having an abundance of meaty chili. Once you see the building right off you know you are not getting some fancy rabbi consecrated premium 100% all beef kosher weenie from up north somewhere. It's an everyday weenie made from parts. Parts of what I'll let you be the judge. It was good though, had a great flavor and didn't have too much artificial color. The chili reminded me of what mama used to whip up with a pack of Chili-o mix and twice the hamburger in it. I guarantee the chili tastes better Thursday than it does on Monday. I like that. They've got an extensive menu for a place where everything gets handed to you through a hole in the wall. Maybe that's where the name originated.
