Don't miss this local gem we dined in once and got takeout while visiting Fort Payne. Do not miss trying this little spot! They definitely know how to bbq! Our first visit we both got a two meat plate each . I got chicken and pulled pork with bbq beans and potato salad. My hubby got the brisket and pulled pork with French fries and sliced fried potatoes. They have the best brisket my husband and I have ever tasted ! The chicken is very moist and flavorful. Everything we tasted was very yummy!! The second time we went we got takeout . We got 1/2 of brisket , a whole chicken, side of beans, side of sliced potatoes, side of potato sauce and a side of coleslaw. Again everything was delicious !!! All three of their homemade bbq sauces are so good! Our favorite was their original bbq sauce! I'm not going to lie I may visit Fort Payne just to eat here yeah it's that good !

Combo plate. A steal.

Small town BBQ at its best. The smell of smoke will start the mouth watering before you even set foot in the joint. Menu is pretty standard for a BBQ joint with all of the old favorites, done well. We both had combo plate - a steal at $9.50. She had chicken and brisket, I had pork and brisket. Chicken was actually a half chicken, a lot of meat for half of a combo plate, and done rotisserie style. Brisket was tender and moist though a bit on the fatty side but not so much to be detrimental. Pulled pork was excellent. Sauces come in three: sweet mild, original, and hot. The sweet mild was a perfect counterpoint to the meat, and my SO said the hot had just the right spice. Sides were coleslaw, Mac-n-cheese, and potato salad - all of which were excellent additions to the meal. Also included a buttered piece of Texas toast. Tea has unlimited refills. Save room for the extra sweet banana pudding, clearly a homemade recipe. Excellent. It's a pretty small and sparse space, but you're not here for the decoration, you're here to get your

Wow! Amazing beef brisket (got the fatty end), and pulled pork! Sally (a man!) sure cooks a mean butt! His wife cooks a mean peach cobbler and is a wonderful hostess. So glad Yelp led us here! Upgraded to the Mac n cheese side. Don't miss the sliced fried potatoes, to die for. Save room for the dessert! Out of banana pudding so got the resse's peanut butter pie, and the peach cobbler with ice cream. Love this place, the people and the food! This "BBQ shack" is perfect and worth the drive!

I almost don't want to do this......I want to save it all for myself. So so good! The people make you feel like family by the time you leave. The ribs fall off the bone like they should! I miss it already!

By far the best ribs I have ever eaten. Very affordable and good portions. I also recommend the banana pudding.

When we drove up, we could smell the hickory smoke and saw the smoker on the sidewalk in front. When we walked in, we were told that menus are on the checkout counter, so I went to grab 2, but before we knew it, the uncle of the owner started reading every item on the menu for an uncomfortably long time. I'm a visual guy so I need to read menus at my own pace. We ordered the lunch combo - 1/2 lb. smoked brisket with 2 sides, 1 sauce, and a fountain drink are included. My wife had the 4 rib lunch with 1 side, 1 sauce, and a drink. There are 4 sauces to choose from. I chose the hot & spicy that was thin and mild; my wife chose the "Bama sauce", a white vinegar & salad dressing sauce that was good. I chose the Brussels sprouts hash and warm German potato salad that were both delicious, and my favorite menu items overall! I was surprised to see the brisket in a foil-wrapped packet next to the bun thinking that this method kept the meat hot, but when I opened the packet, the meat was not hot, but nicely smoked. The brisket was unusually cut into pellet- sized pieces that were slightly dry, under seasoned, and undercooked to my liking, and kept falling out of the bun. I would have preferred the traditional sliced brisket sandwich piled high with some topping choices like homemade pickles, hot peppers, etc. On the positive side, my wife's ribs were huge and they even threw in a few burnt ends. I tried one and thought it was also under seasoned and dry. My wife loved her ribs and said it was tender and juicy! The ambiance is quirky and uninviting with a bar behind the checkout and a few tables. There was a paper sign arrow in the back showing that they have a patio, but you have to walk through a storage area and past the restroom to get there. There were 3 or 4 picnic tables and 1 small bar-height table with 2 chairs. We didn't realize until we left that they served wine and beer until we saw a beer sign over the bar. I'm assuming this place is fairly new and they've got some kinks to work out, but if you go, I'd recommend the ribs and sides!

The Bar-B-Que Place is definitely a good choice for barbecue if you are in the area and craving…read moresome good barbecue. Barbecue is a pretty serious thing down here in the south. Maybe it is because barbecue is embraced so strongly as a southern tradition that southerners embrace this culinary style with such passion or maybe it is that southern barbecue is simply that good and that incredible taste made it a tradition. The staff here was extremely friendly and outgoing. I went with the pulled pork and I have to say that I was overall impressed with my meal. I also appreciated the no-frills ambiance approach towards the place. There is nothing fancy or pretentious about barbecue and there is no need to sit in some place heavy on atmosphere when enjoying barbecue. Barbecue itself shines as the star of the meal and we don't need atmosphere. This was definitely an overall winner and I would definitely recommend the restaurant. I give it an overall five stars.

The quality has dropped below what I'm willing to pay for. Nothing tastes the same except the Jo sauce. Every single chicken tender they gave the TWO of us was half the size of what they used to be. The jojos were always large, now just the butt end of the tiny potatoes. I don't know why u would buy a businesses good name that had been open for decades and ruin it completely in a very short time because u are cheap. My family won't be back. We paid $20 for a chicken snack, a chicken plate and 1 drink! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!
