If I could give 0 stars I would. Definitely not worth the drive, only came for a friend's birthday. Let's start with parking, it is across the street at a swap meet even if you find parking in their lot, we got kicked out. A cover of $15 and cash only... post covid Next we asked if we could bring balloons and we were massaged with "sure" just to have security say no at the door. Get it together and make sure everyone is aware of what is allowed or not. Don't have one person say yes... I went out of my way to get the balloons because they said yes. I would not recommend... at least their other locations have food this one didn't. The bartender seemed to be learning how to mix drinks. For the area this bar is in... the prices were not it. This place is still here?! Wow that's amazing! Anytime I've come here I have had a blast. Just good ol' 80's music. I mean better than any other place that plays the good jams. The dance floor is pretty big so not too much crowding where you're on top of each other. Parking isn't an issue. It is an older crowd that comes here which you get the occasional younger crowd. If you like drama don't come here, you should only come here if you like having a good time! Their drinks are fun. Pretty high energy here. Really just a good time. I walked into That 80's Bar fully aware of its mixed reviews. A lot of 1-star complaints about strict rules, bad service, and the overall experience had me wondering if we were making a mistake. But our friends and my wife and I wanted to catch up somewhere with live music, so we gave it a shot. At its core, this place is exactly what it claims to be--a loud, divey 80's-themed bar with a dance floor, a DJ, and a live band. Drinks were basic but fine--no craft cocktails here, but that's not what this place is about. The crowd was mostly in the 30-50 range, with some younger and older. The vibe was definitely high energy, and for a lot of people there, it seemed like a fun, let-loose kind of night. The Experience: Crazy loud. Between the DJ and the band, it was LOUD--like, can't-hear-your-own-thoughts loud. Maybe we're just getting old, but we left when our ears couldn't take any more. Past Action Heroes were a wild ride. The band was high-energy and kept the crowd going, but for us, the constant sex jokes got old fast. Funny once, maybe twice... but after every song, it felt like overkill. The dancing crowd didn't seem to mind, so maybe that's just us. The atmosphere is what you'd expect. A dive bar with neon, a packed dance floor, and a crowd that's mostly there to party. If you're looking for a chill spot to sip drinks and chat, this isn't it. The Not-So-Great: No food + no re-entry is a bad combo. If you won't let people back in, at least offer some bar snacks. Rules matter, but so does customer experience. The no re-entry thing makes sense from a security perspective, but it doesn't make sense for customer satisfaction. They bent the rule for us, and that made a difference. They've been beaten up in reviews, but some complaints are valid. I can see why people either love or hate this place. I had a party here about 12 years ago since then haven't returned because I've moved away... came back to try it out last night - omg this place is a DUMP!!! Why why?? EVERYTHING WAS EXACTLY THE SAME... carpets chairs, tables filters, just gross... it's really sad because this place has a lot of potential On top of how gross it was and dirty There was no usual "club vibe" light show, etc. they had medium lights on the whole time.... Almost to full brightness as if they had turned on the "1:45 AM warning that the club is shutting down." It was just awful They have a so-called "VIP area" that they charge $100 per table for-what do you get ? a table, a rundown table with four stools...THAT'S IT!!!!!!! Since we had a party of about 28 people, we couldn't just get up and leave so we stayed and made the best of it No dress code Nothing... it's sadly has turned into a raunchy little hole in the wall. It's really sad because this place has SO MUCH POTENTIAL... it's $15 per person to walk in the doors(CASH ONLY OF COURSE) you think that at least with this money, the owner would be willing to upgrade and update this place. This was hands down the WORST experience I've ever had at a bar. The staff were rude, unprofessional, and completely lacking in basic customer service skills. I went out for what was supposed to be a fun night with my parents and friend. Everything was fine until my friend needed some fresh air. Before leaving the building, we confirmed with the "host" at the table that it was okay for us to leave and come back, and she gave us the green light. We walked down the street to grab tacos, ate, and came right back. When we tried to re-enter, the security guard said we had to pay a re-entry fee and told us it didn't matter what the host said because "she's just the host." How unprofessional to not train ALL staff to communicate consistent policies. He told us to wait for the manager, who came out with a horrible attitude and was not receptive in the slightest when we tried to explain that we received confirmation from an employee that it would be okay for us to re-enter. She said she didn't feel comfortable letting us back in because we could've consumed alcohol outside. Neither of us showed any signs of overconsumption, but we weren't about to argue. While I was waiting by the door for my mom to bring my friend's phone (which he had left inside), the female security guard and the host started openly talking about me, saying that she never gave us permission and if I have a problem I should "go call mommy" and "mommy paid for her cover anyway, not her." What does that even have to do with the situation? It reeked of jealousy. When my mom came out with the phone, I told her not to even bother trying to reason with the staff. At that point, the manager started yelling at my friend and me to leave the property, even though we were just trying to say goodbye and grab our things. There was no hostility from us, yet she kept yelling in my face like I was some kind of threat as a 5'2", 21 year old woman. She was clearly on a power trip and just HOPING someone would stoop to her level. Classless and distasteful. Oh, and to top it off, a waiter spilled beer all over my dad's shirt and they refused to comp the drink. I guess with the way this place is run, they couldn't afford to spare the extra $10 if rent was to be paid. I haven't been to That 80s bar itself. Only twice for The Tron Speakeasy and the Evil dead speakeasy. Tickets are limited online and reserved timed so come early so you have enough time to enjoy your stay at the speakeasy. You're ticket comes with one drink token. Parking is either street or a swamp meet parking lot across the way. The Evil dead speakeasy had to be one of my favorites. The characters they hired and the whole theme. I love horror so I would definitely do it again according to a theme I enjoy. read more

I don't recommend coming here. If you go to the speakeasy next door, they will literally watch you if you come next door to the 80s bar, and then cut you off in drinks. They told my friend she's cut off because she's intoxicated. I didn't realize we had a drink limit if we do both. Apparently we don't but they're cutting us off regardless. It's her birthday and they're ruining it. They said she's intoxicated yet she is in heels, has not fallen, hasn't even tripped, hasn't done anything sloppy. Hasnt dropped a drink. This is incredibly unfair. Aside from the mistreatment of my friend, the drinks are still wack. 4 drinks here, two at the speakeasy and I'm sober lol this is ridiculous. $120 later not including two entrance fees you would think I would have a buzz. If you want to dance to some good 80s music , this is the spot. Ambiance was cool typical 80s look with neon and pictures of 80 alternative Rockstars on walls. The dance floor is pretty big. Enough room to dance without bumping into people. The bar could use some extra bartenders on a busy Saturday, but the lines weren't too bad. Beer prices weren't too bad either. We don't do mixed drink so we dont know the prices. Location is kinda shady, next door across from pomona indoor swapmeet. We came here in an uber after going to the fair. We pay $15 each -four of us, get our wristbands, get carded (we are all over 50) walk in, and the security comes behind us immediately and says I did not check your back pack. Check it, all good with him but then he asks his manager and says "sorry you have a back pack you can't come in" we keep asking if we could just leave it up front w cashier. "Let me ask my manager" Manager was so unprofessional. Says nope you can't come in w backpack points at a sign says "policy" btw all this is delivered rudely. She says verbatim after shrugging, smirking "I'm going to give it back to you to get you out of here". I have been to Hully Gully, Corona and Fullerton 80s bars. Made it out for our friends birthday on a Friday, arrived very late (11:45 pm) My experience may be skewed because of the late arrival. Parked directly across the street but felt worried about the dark and sketchy lot. Not the best place to get drunk and be unaware. We were still charged the $15 cover fee. CASH ONLY! We luckily had cash on hand. The security glanced briefly in my purse and got a bright neon wristband and walked on in... almost immediately my pretty shoes could feel a sticky pull. That caused for me to have heightened germ awareness. The crowd was happy and dancing. A few overly drunk people but not terrible (as I was sober). Our friends had a couple of tables but I didn't feel comfortable just setting my purse down. I tried once and noticed 3 girls watching me immediately. I hope they are not regulars, sticky floors are bad enough. My purse was fine but I kept my eye on it, not hard with the small crowd. People were slowly leaving. We ordered water and ice and a few hard drinks. They have pictures of the drinks on a tv screen as a "menu" - I didn't realize when i ordered. The names are really great but whoever took the pictures did a terrible job at making them look appealing. Some of the drinks were not even filled to the rim on the picture. That is such a cool idea if it would be implemented better. Better pictures (with the price) in a centrally located tv (bigger too). The bartender and waitress were nice (Star 1). I wanted to purchase a bar logo T-shirt for my friend but they had none, although they are advertising it on the screens. The security in the bar seem to be very vigilant and not there to play. They look like they will kick you out quickly. The stage was empty and out friends wanted a photo taken. I asked security if they could stand in front of the sign and he said yes. The place is worn so if he would have said no, it would be wild. The DJ was fine but a little all over the place like a random playlist. Still appreciated his set. It's literally every song you would expect, maybe they were playing something on the B side earlier. I didn't use the restroom but my friend did. I went in to check on her and that may have been the place in the building with 0 air conditioning. It was hot Like a sauna. I had a total of two small drinks. They tasted like straight juice and minimal alcohol. I would have been better off ordering a beer. I would watch them make it to be sure if I was you. The place should take baby steps at making it at minimum feel clean. Fine if you don't want to pay for a new floor or upgrades. But cleanliness would be a game changer. I cringed at the idea of turning the lights on.Maybe some new stools and clean mirrors, something, anything. It has potential but it felt sparse. We had a great time seeing friends and we drove in an hour away. If I was going to celebrate my birthday or wanted a special day, I would suggest the Corona location, it's big, good parking, good drinks and in a nicer area. The parking was large so that is the reason for (Star 2) - The Fullerton location has the worst parking but the closest to LA/OC. I took my shoes off when I got home and placed them outside :( -If you choose the Montclair location, come with friends, leave with friends, bring cash, pre game , bring some sanitizer, don't bring anything of value and if you can leave your purse at home. Owners need to power wash the place and save the 80s bar. The crowd wanted to dance and have a blast thus making this place better, giving it the ambience it has. This was my first time going to "that 80's Bar" I was excited at first because I like 80s music but not anymore. Never would I recommend anyone to this Bar. Only accept Cash but decide to put there atm inside the bar and have a bouncer escort you to the atm. Why don't they just put the atm in the entry? On top of that the bouncer tells me I'm "doing too much" to step out for a second after I use there atm to grab cash. After you pay with only cash to get a cover and wear a wrist band. The Bartenders ask for your ID every single time you get a drink that's overpriced af (but they were chill af and great at their jobs). Made reservations for the pop-up speakeasy (that seems to have a rotating theme) and there were plenty time slots to choose from the later half of the evening. When we got there they let us know they were 25 minutes behind but by the time we got in it was 35 mins past our reserved time. As they escorted us to the bar they let us know there was a two-drink minimum which came as a surprise. We're told that drinks ordered at the bar with cash got a discount so we headed there first. The discount for paying cash was $.88 lol. The drinks were pretty, and strong, taste was OK. We then tried to find a place to stand because it was so packed. I was under the impression the reservation meant we got seats but you have to try to snag the limited spots when people leave. We stood awkwardly smashed in the back taking in the scene. The decor was perfectly Matterhorn and yeti themed. Lots of fun details including screens playing snow themes that made you feel like you were in the mountains. We were lucky to get a seat about 20 mins in since it seemed like they kept letting more people in while only a few people left. We decided we weren't going to stay much longer and didn't want to get in a long line to order more $20(!!) drinks. You could use a QR code to order by table but the wait would've probably also been long. We waited until we saw the yeti who makes an appearance I think every hour or so, which was fun since the actor in the suit made it a point to go up to all guests and interact/take pics, then left within an hour of getting in. Went to the Macabre Manor Speakeasy and it was AMAZING! I was reading the reviews of the place and honestly did not have high expectations however the drinks and overall experience was great! They check you in then take you to the back of the bar and into this separate room. Then since we did online reservations ($15 per person) we each had our own table. The room was very spooky and had interactive "windows." There was also interactive characters and a magician that went around and entertained guests. The drinks were around $20 each and were really flavorful (and strong lol). There was advertised small snacks and they gave us beef jerky with the label of "fresh scabs" lol and added to the ambience of the place. I came to this venue as a guest at the Tron speakeasy. The staff at the bar was rude for no reason. The ambiance of the speakeasy was cool I guess but it was not fun. They could have made it fun but they didn't. The vibe in the speakeasy is like waiting at line at Disneyland. Drinks are $20 on average. They charge "gratuity" and ask for tip. That 80s Bar is a good time! I've been here quite a few times, the most recent being last weekend. I've always had fun. Groups of girls, you are going to LOVE this: The crowd is more mature (40 and up). It is a huge bonus because the guys all left me and my girlfriends alone. Everyone just wanted to dance and have a good time (even the guys who came solo). Obviously, if you want to meet guys, you still can. I like that the playlist leans more towards '80s funk/R&B and freestyle like The Gap Band, Egyptian Lover, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, and Debbie Deb because that's more what I grew up with. I heard the standard and expected pop hits like Madonna, Stacey Q, and Depeche Mode too. It was just '80s music which is what we came for. No surprise 90s or 2000s hip hop like you hear at other "80s Clubs." We saw The AC/DC cover band Dirty Deeds. They were very good and professional. The cover bands start at 11:00 and play for about an hour. Things to know: 1. Parking is directly across the street in the huge swap meet parking lot. It is very close to the bar itself, so it is safe. A few other reviewers didn't think it was, but I have a lot to compare it to: The parking lot at their sister bar in Fullerton is a bit of a walk down the street with random vagrants walking by, so I feel less creeped out walking to and from my car at That 80s Bar in Montclair since you can get to your car in under 3 minutes. If you arrive before 9:30, you can usually park in the small parking lot at the actual bar. 2. The charge is $15 (cash only). This is only on Fridays and Saturdays. There is no cover on Thursdays. 3. There is no food available to purchase. Only drinks. That being said, there is a taco stand directly outside so you can buy something to eat either before or after. 4. I paid $10 for a Modelo and a bottle of water. Water is $4 per bottle. This is the only reason I can't give 5 stars. It would keep everyone from getting too drunk to provide complimentary self serve water in small cups. It's definitely worth it to check it out! Came to the speakeasy part of the bar- reservation was at 8:00 (100min) and wasn't allowed in till 8:20, my party of 6 was sat at different tables and wasn't allowed to combined our tables. Me and my pregnant sister entered the bathroom and a male security OPENED the door and told us to use separate bathrooms. Not to mention the drinks are 22+ dollars each and they require you to buy 2. We only went to the speak easy Halloween themed macabre which was rather smaller room. It was a timed experience with really expensive drinks at a 2 drink minimum. You already pay $20 for entry ticket and on top of that they automatically charge you a 20% but they don't tell you. When we asked about it after paying for the first round of drinks they said that the automatic 20% goes to the bartenders. Well, the bartenders should be tipping out the servers. Why in the world would we want to go a speak easy we have to pay to get into and pay almost 40% for tips. Ridiculous how sneaky it was. Wouldn't really recommend. read more

The DJ is horrible. The place is ok... but man, I approached the DJ and he literally said NO before I event got to him. I saw the other reviews but I thought I give this place a chance but I should have listened to the other reviews. It suck's cause it could have been a a good place but damn this DJ .... Went to a speakeasy in this bar and it was a cool experience! Went specifically to the macabre manor and the cover was $15 per person paid online beforehand. The drinks are pretty costly but good quality at $20 per drink. Online it said you would get a complimentary treat but there was none so false advertising there but overall fun. Our bartender was very nice and the interactions with characters were great! read more
