Great to just sit there, watch all the hustle bustle outside while you slowly, quietly sip a beer. Or use their fast wifi to catch up on life. I don't like dingy dark pubs so this is great. I can sit here all day, except for my ambitious travel itinerary. My own grip is that the beer is rather pricey. A glass is about US$10, and a flight like US$23. I get it beer in Hong Kong is expensive compare to the U.S., and this is Central, but "ouch" says my wallet. I can recommend this place though, if you want to try some local beers.

As you'd expect with this type of bar its located in the hip and popular So-Ho area. You're gonna find plenty of bars selling bog standard lager around here, but not Craft Brew. These guys really stand out with their rather aggressive marketing of, "Craft not Crap" and you won't find any boring beers in here. To be honest these guys had some outstanding beer on when I was in. I was drinking their very own Kung Fu Lager and Summer Ale as I'd never seen them in the UK. Both were great examples of a modern, hoppy beer. They were super cold and refreshing, not cheap, (as you would expect) but totally worth it in my opinion. With its simple wooden tables and decoration, this is definitely like a craft beer bar you'd get in Europe. The music was pretty hit and miss (I mean Take That, really??) but it kinda made for a fun night. The staff in Craft Brew were really great and allowed me to sample several different beers before finding the ones I was after. The rest of the drinks are mainly beers, frozen drinks, martinis, and cocktails. There are mocktails available for the non-alcoholic folks and a decent wine selection for people who aren't feeling the sangria. Pro-Tip: Happy Hour goes from 12pm-9pm. That's nine hours of easy drinking bliss. Food wise, I would venture their menu is more international than it is basque. Spanish tapas are certainly available here but they have pastas, pizzas, and sandiwches that are a solid complement to the drinks. Anything with their imported Iberico Ham is a safe be and the paella is extremely filling. The weekends can get pretty crowded and on some days they rock football / soccer matches. For those of you from the United States, think of like Huntington Beach in California, or Mill Ave in Arizona. It's a trendy kinda place where you'll find many expats having a good social time. The owners are warm and welcoming and offered our party complimentary drinks even though we were paying customers. The gesture was very appreciated! The music played here is pretty hip, relatable western tunes. If I ever move to Hong Kong, a place like Staunton's would certainly be a place to regularly return to!

I love how there's a food menu here too so you can snack while drinking! We tried a few beers, but the ones that stood out were the Honey Longan Lager and a sour Lingonberry Soursop Ale! The flavor combinations were great, and also unique finds you couldn't get at other shops! We ordered some food to eat as well - the garlic fries were VERY garlic-y, and we also got the lap cheung spread on bread. Think of pate but made with lap cheung! Super unique find as well. So when I stumbled across one (the Ale Project) in the middle of Mong Kok a couple of weeks ago, it felt like striking gold. The place had a great vibe, the beer was excellent, and it was full of friendly people just enjoying the afternoon. A perfect little discovery in one of the busiest neighborhoods in Kowloon, Hong Kong.
