    Great happy hour!
    Fiore C.

As I was walking on the streets of Hong Kong hungry and thirsty, I found this great place! The food selection and the drinks were great! The open environment was inviting. The happy hour time was perfect. I sat next to the sidewalk and watching people walk by was better than watching a movie. The music selection was perfect as I drank my IPA.

The alcohol selection is not great, and the pricing for it, even worse. However, the food is beautifully presented and for the most part, consistent in quality. I highly recommend the pig trotters and fresh fish. This is a nice selection for a date for the panoramic view and candlelight romantic ambiance.

The restaurant is located on the 18th Floor at One Nathan overlooking Victoria Harbor. It is a small yet cozy elegant space, with high ceilings and grand decor. The design was inspired by local award-winning actress, Carina Lau. The food on offer it is a fusion of Spanish and Japanese cuisine, with a menu designed by Pedro Samper, although he's not behind the stoves at the moment. Besides set lunch and a tasting menu, Zurriola's a la carte is extensive, as well as its dessert and wine menus (with 20 pages filled with reds, whites, cavas and champagnes!). Zurriola's well trained service awarded the restaurant the 'best service' during Hong Kong Restaurant Week in 2014 and they offered a set lunch that we decided to try. In fact, the service is great: they seem very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the food. I picked the 'presa' salad as a starter. For me, it was a little disappointing. Having been raised in the land of Iberico, I know how a good presa tastes like and this dish seemed bland to me. So, I was curious as how the main would come. I went for the grilled salmon with asparagus emulsion: it was a very small portion, and it tasted okay. Very well presented and well done dish, but nothing special. However, the dessert, melted chocolate and ice cream, made up for the rest. Set lunch was around 230 HKD per head, which I thought was reasonable. Although I wasn't impressed with the food, I did love the space, the views and the atmosphere.

They serve a mean carpaccio with flakes of Parmesan and an olive oil glaze. Their paella was great too, it was al dente and tasted like the sea (in a good way), but what really stole the show was their suckling pig. Underneath the light, crispy skin was the tender and succulent pork leg, well seasoned, and smooth, with enough to share between two. Also worthy of mention are their pecan pies, which while conservatively portioned are surprisingly rich for Hong Kong standards, and pleasantly nutty. I should also add that they have a coffee here that's good enough to have black.

As suggested by the name, you'll be welcomed by a rustic interior complete with brick walls, wooden cabinets, and ceramic jugs lined along the walls. A nice and chill environment to relax after some hectic shopping. The beef carpaccio and arugula salad was exceptional! Our waiter informed us it's made from angus beef tenderloin, hence no annoying tendons or chewy bits, and we get juicy meaty bits of goodness every bite. The roasted half chicken was also above average. The roast was kept moist on the inside and crispy on the out, even for the breast which is easy to overcook, it was handled decently. Would I recommend it? Definitely!

Staff wanted to seat us in the open air part, close to the very front of the restaurant. Since it was hot, we asked for, and were accommodated at a table in the middle of the restaurant, under the needed air conditioning!! We started off with two tapas; the Padron Peppers, $87, and the White Anchovies, $74. While the pepper dish was ample in size, it was incredibly boring in taste. However, the large sardines were expertly seasoned and enjoyable. For our main, we shared a non-meat version of the Seafood Paella, $338. This was delicioso y mui excellante! For dessert, we shared a Date Pudding, $70. This too was excellent. See photos. All in all a very comfortable place to dine. Service was adequate, as the staff had an attitude, yet food was impressive, thus the rating of 4 stars.

They also have a good wine list that's affordable by the glass. We were a bit peckish one Sunday afternoon so we stopped by and ordered their tasting platter, which had 30 g each of serrano, lomo, chorizo, and salchichon iberico. It was served with some hearty bread slices and gherkins. I wish they could add some cheeses, but after all they are named "Iberico" so I guess I'll let it slide, haha. As it's along the escalators, it's a nice spot to chill over drinks and small plates while you people watch. If you're lucky, you might even witness some tourists who trip and fall at the end of the escalator because they were clearly not paying attention while taking selfies! (Yes, I've seen this happen before and it is schadenfreude at it's finest!)
