I came here for early Thai dinner for NYC restaurant week. When I arrived I learned the restaurant just reopened recently and there was no liquor license. The owner was there and she was very nice and accommodating. I knew what I wanted and the server highly recommended these dishes too. Everything was cooked to perfect portion where there absolutely zero leftovers. Everything tasted so good and hit the spot. Celebrated an anniversary here with the Chef's Tasting menu. We were the first diners of the day and thankful that we were because 2 hours later as the restaurant had more diners, it became impossible to get the sole waiter's attention. He was wonderful (Juan), but it was unfair to have one waiter covering an entire restaurant on a busy Friday night. Juan did the best he could under the circumstances, so 10/10 for service. Food was 8/10 - some unique spins to classic dishes. From my time in northern Thailand, I appreciated seeing dishes on the menu that are generally not offered in standard Thai restaurants in America. The Chef incorporates flavor and heritage wonderfully. Our favorite dishes were: Pomelo salad, son in law eggs, calamari & pear salad. Some other dishes had an imbalanced flavor profiles: pot pie was salty, even with the green base requiring higher salt. The 2 desserts at the end ruined the meal in a sense because they just didn't taste great and the durian dessert smelled very sock-like. Yes, durian smells in general, but we've had it in many places where the smell was reduced. Unfortunately, they did overcharge us by ~$50 and 2 weeks in, we haven't received any responses via email or phone follow up after multiple attempts to reach out to clarify the charge. Overall, a solid restaurant with some space to improve to be perfect! read more

I had an unfortunate $20 Pad Thai + $4 for chicken. The price point is already on the higher end, which is only a problem when we consider the fact that the colors and flavors are inauthentic. I'm a huge fan of chef Hong Thaimee's food and have been visiting her East Village location for years. I'm very glad to have come to her pop up in the West Village as it truly delivered. The service and food were excellent, and due to the short staff at night, we were lucky enough to be served by Ms. Thaimee herself. She's kept a good number of vegetarian options which I appreciate, and the dishes really do push the boundaries. We started out with the Chiang mai fries (felt a little like tempura) served with the curry Mayo which was delicious. For the entrees, the the pad cha hed Sam yang (mushroom dish ) was very well spiced and paired well with the blue jasmine rice. The Pad Key Mao was also well flavored with fresh peppercorns in the dish. The entrees were excellent, as well as the pandan custard for dessert. The space was beautiful and spacious as well. We had been wanting to try this place for a while and finally were able to go. We got lucky that the owner herself was taking care of us due to her server not being able to make it. It is difficult time for the restaurants with the staff shortage but she was really wonderful, friendly and smile on her face. Most importantly the food was great. We started out with a sampler option from the starters section and it was a great way to try more apps and didn't disappoint. Then we had the Japanese eggplant, butternut squash special and spicy soft shell crap noodles. Everything was delicious. Lastly we added the chicken dish (pictured) and it was really good! Bottom like is that I'm glad we gave this place a try and we will be back for sure!! read more

Chef Hong, fashion model turned celebrity chef, originally made a splash on the New York culinary scene with her first restaurant Ngam, which was followed by Thaimee Magic. Thaimee Love is both her new brand and her new, at least for now, pop up restaurant. The food is northern Thai, she is from Chiang Mai. The food is delicious. They are willing to moderate the heat level on most dishes to your taste. The drunken noodles are amazingly flavorful. Bring your own wine or beer. read more

I was really excited to try this place out, since I had been following Chef Hong Thaimee on instagram since I had seen a friend attend her eventbrite events. I'm glad that they offer so many vegetarian options, but I didn't have a great experience ordering from them. I ordered their pad thai with tofu for delivery. The texture of the noodles was great. However, the dish itself was extremely salty. I usually eat really flavorful food, but it was borderline inedible. The flavor itself is more salty and sour than what I've had at other thai restaurants which have more sweetness to it. Maybe I had a bad batch, and I'll probably give the restaurant another chance after reading some of the reviews. As for their delivery system, it's a bit confusing on tock. I also couldn't find the restaurant itself through the delivery websites (it's on Doordash and Postmates) and had to order via tock. When I received my order, the cardboard container was also open. Considering the pandemic, I would recommend that the restaurant seals the food with some tape as well. read more

The food was also delicious and very authentic tasting. If you're feeling in the mood for some Thai food, you can't go wrong. Just had dinner here tonight and something is really really weird. I was a fan of Chef Thaimee Hong when she was running her place in the East Village so I was excited to try her latest spot on Houston St earlier this evening. Greeted by a friendly Chef Hong upon walking in. She informed us that she had to work the dining room and the kitchen this evening as she was down on waitstaff. Running a restaurant is not easy these days. There were 3 of us, and Chef Hong was pushing rather insistently that we order the fixed menu rather than a la carte. When we asked how much the fixed menu would cost, she said she would give us a good price rather than giving us the price for it. Even after we asked it a couple of times. We said we would think about it and would look over the menu first. In the meantime, we ordered a bottle of white wine. Chef Hong brought the wine out for us herself and opened it. When she poured a little for my friend to taste , I noticed the quantity of the wine was much lower than a new bottle (it was two-third full only) and quickly asked her why the quantity was low. Chef Hong then said it's a new bottle as she opened it herself and she proceeded quickly to pour it into two glasses. After that two glass pour, there was only a quarter left in the bottle. I politely asked Chef Hong again how this was possible (on top of that, the wine was room temperature), she then got visibly upset and said it was a new bottle and then swiftly went in the back and got another bottle. The second bottle she brought out was cold and filled all the way to the top like how an unopened bottle of wine should be. Plus it was twist cap so when she opened the new bottle the sound of the twist cap was that of a tightly shut twist cap being cracked open which was not the sound we heard when she opened the first bottle. We then received the second bottle and asked Chef Hong to take the first opened bottle back. This was when Chef Hong became dismissive and said we could drink the first bottle if we wanted (which we definitely did not want to). Instead of being apologetic, Chef Hong's behavior took a 180 degrees turn and made us feel like we were attempting to scam her for a bottle of wine. So bizarre. If I was not giving her the benefit of the doubt, I would say the attempt was on her end to mislead and serve us a bottle of wine that was already opened and served previously. We then decided to order a la carte instead of the family menu Chef Hong suggested and with a rather cold attitude (which is so different than when we first walked in). she took our order and swiftly walked into the kitchen and was rarely seen again throughout our dinner. There was no asking how our food was during the meal or even acknowledging our presence after the whole wine incident. We felt like pariahs that she could not wait to get rid of. This made for an uncomfortable meal to say the least. Speaking of food, we wanted a couple of items on the menu that were not available. So we ordered the Ruam Mit appetizer platter, Hormok Pla Flounder (fish souffle), Khao Soi and Laab Ribs. For the ribs, we were informed no pork ribs were available but it could be replaced with fried chicken. The tastes of the food were delicious, and some dishes were definitely creative, but the fried chicken consisted of a lot of batter and little meat , and the fish souffle had more tofu mixed in it than fish meat. The appetizer platter and khao Soi were amazing however. Perhaps times are tough and to combat rising food cost, restaurants have to be creative to make ends meet. But the way the Laab fried chicken and fish souffle were prepared, and the whole experience with the wine ordering with Chef Hong's attitude doing a 180 after we asked her about the wine validity really make this an unenjoyable dinner. It seems I had looked up to the wrong chef all this time. So disappointed! read more

I made reservations for the weekend tea service on Resy. Two days before, I called to confirm the reservation. The morning of the reservation I received a text also confirming the reservation. All of this only to show up at the time of the reservation and discover the restaurant was closed! While still outside the restaurant, I called and left a voicemail. To her credit, the owner called me back promptly and apologized - apparently staff did not show up. I understand things happen but a call an hour before the reservation would have been appreciated before we made the trek downtown. The owner went on to promise to email me a voucher for dinner to make up for this unfortunate incident. However, I never received the email or voucher so will be writing this restaurant off as this experience is highly unprofessional. read more

Thai cuisine is supposed to be vegetarian friendly. A new restaurant should build itself up to make its customers feel welcomed and excited. I felt neither way at Thaimee. My friends vegetarian and the waiter promised that "the entire menu can be catered to vegetarians". So we ordered the lamb curry for nearly $40, but got a scanty amount of veges for the exact same price. Further, they completely forgot about our main dish and asked us if we want the cheque. It's not how a new restaurant should build its reputation in New York City. I hope they try to meet the City's caliber soon. read more

The food is okay. I understand that it's a pop-up so a lot of things aren't established but I never experience such bad service. We ordered the stir fried oyster with mushrooms and baby corn and the dish came out with oysters no where to be found. The first time we asked, they told us the dish should have oyster in it. But obviously there's not. So we asked them to check with the kitchen again, and they told us they're actually out of oysters. ??? Where is the management in this? First off, shouldn't we be informed if any ingredients is out and ask for a substitute? Second off, why are we even charged for this incomplete dish? read more

Very flavorful Thai dishes that go beyond Pad Thai. Having been to Thailand, I'm always on the lookout for Thai food that goes beyond pad thai and peanut chicken skewers. I ordered takeout from Thaimee Love and enjoyed the Khao Soi and the Short Rib Green Curry. The Pomelo Salad, which was one of my favorite things in Thailand, was wayyyyy too spicy unfortunately. My bf surprised me for my birthday yesterday and honestly had an amazing experience. It's still new, opened maybe two weeks ago, and it's also a pop up. The heaters were not set up yet but were offered complimentary blue lemongrass tea. It was much needed, even though everything was indoors it was a bit chilly. Currently BYOB with no corkage fee. Food was absolutely amazing- not your typical Thai takeout, felt authentic even though similar dishes to other restaurants with a twist. Interesting ingredients like coconut meat, pomegranates, kale, blue rice and more. So good though!!!! We ordered almost every dish that was vegetarian. Highly recommend their soups, their kickass curry, the pad kee mao and fries. We definitely ordered too much and had to bring leftovers. Just finished my left overs and somehow it tastes even better!!! Since it's a pop up, as of now minimum they are staying at this location is for 6 months. We will be visiting every month also because they state on their website that the menu will change every month based on certain Thai themes. What a terrific idea! Service was great, reservations (from what I hear from my bf) wasn't an issue, socially distant, great atmosphere (they played a few Hamilton songs) and even better the chef came out to greet everyone at every table. Bruh this place sells you indomee for like 30 bucks and calls it "ramen pad Thai" ?!! Def would never return, food was just extremely bizarre and inedible. Fish soufflé thing was extremely salty and the texture was gross. Papaya salad was literally papaya and soy sauce. Everything felt like it could be made in my kitchen except I would probably make it 100x better and I'm not even a great cook myself. Pros: Reservations were easy to make. Hostess was gracious. BYOB without corkage fee. Cons: It's an attempt at refined Thai food. If you're expecting the heavy, broad flavors of Thailand home style cooking it's not this. Nothing was spiced, despite descriptions in the menu. The braised imperial chicken was extremely dry as was the fried pork ribs. Somehow even the dark meat of the chicken had been dried through and through. The broth was okay. Lamb shank green curry had no reminiscent green curry flavors. It was essentially a lamb shank sitting in coconut milk. The Thai omelet was definitely not done in the Thai style - there was no discernible fish sauce or any flavor in the egg and no crispy edges. It was essentially a diner omelet with some crab in it that you have to pay extra for. We deferred dessert. read more

If you are looking for a delicious and authentic Thai restaurant, Thaimee Love is the one. I went after work on a Thursday night, the restaurant was quiet, cozy, and welcoming. We immediately were greeted by Juan and brought to our table. There were so many options on the menu that I gave Juan and my friend the choice of what to order. We started with the appetizer sampler, which is great for people who want to try everything. My favorite was the Mieng Kim and the Mai Fries. For our main courses we ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and the Ribs (Ghand Kiaw Whan See Kloong Moo.) The Pad Thai was delicious (to be expected) but the Ribs were the highlight. The ribs were so tender that they fell off the bone and the curry sauce was so delicious, I was guilty of drinking it with a spoon... From the service to the quality of the ingredients this dining experience was truly memorable and I will be returning to try some of the other dishes. We live in the nieghborhood and were really excited to try the restaurant especially after the write up by Florence Fabricant in "Off The Menu" from last week's NY Times. We made a reservation via email and brought a bottle of wine as the website noted BYOB which is understandable for a new pop up restaurant without a liquor license. What we did not know, was that they charge a $30 corkage fee. The server bluntly announced that the minute we were seated. After a couple minutes needed to absorb this info, we decided the corkage fee for a new spot with no liquor license was outrageous and we decided to dine elsewhere. While we understand that these are tough COVID times and want all our local establishments to thrive, we decided that this was too much. I would glady support a COVID surcharge and would have appreciated advance notice (via the website or on the menu) of the corkage fee. read more

The food was AMAZING. My favorites from the night included a lobster with a Thai green goddess sauce, a curry duck dish, ribs, and the sweet potato and squash fried in a coconut batter. The desserts were also fabulous: a crepe with a sweet custard and a sweet rice dish with "the King of Fruits," which I think was durian. New York is rife with incredible Thai food- unfortunately however Thaimee love is not the place to find it. I was excited to check out a neighborhood spot. Although the restaurant is impeccably decorated, I can't imagine how our meal could have been more disappointing. Our dinner started with Thai iced teas- priced steeply at $6 each, they were watery and cloying with cinnamon (a confusing addition); my partner's glass was only 75% full. The poor service continued as we were brought our entrees and had to wait several minutes for silverware. The nadir of the meal was the food itself. Our 24$ pork entree consisted of solely of grocery-store ground pork garnished laughably with a quarter of a raw cabbage and other oversized (read: inedible) chunks of raw vegetables. I could only assume this entree was a joke on the part of the chef- it's not something that would pass muster for my own meal prep. The 22$ shrimp pad Thai was doused in soy sauce, with a few flaccid shrimp providing little textural diversion from the limp and salty noodles. The sauce lacked depth and no notes of tamarind- it tasted primed for a bland palate and missed the mark on both flavor and authenticity. I loved Thaimee's previous restaurants. This one is the best yet. A big communal table in the middle and just a few other two and four tops made it so cozy. The food was excellent and our party of 6 literally had every single thing on the menu. The lobster pad Thai l and lamb curry were particularly excellent. The waitstaff was one of the friendliest I've experienced in a while and nailed it with their recs, hospitality and surprise bday dessert for the guest of honor. Really disappointing and will not be back. 1) Ordered takeout at 7:24 for a 7:45 pickup time. Food was not ready until 8:05, twenty minutes later. It doesn't take 40 minutes to make two pad Thais, a side of sautéed veggies, and fried sweet potato and squash. Don't let customers choose pickup times if you can't meet them. 2) Each pad Thai was literally a massive clump of dry noodles. I'm not sure either one had an ounce of peanut sauce. read more

More specifically, the server we had for the evening couldn't give us tasting notes for the few wines on the menu and commented on the dinner items we selected (didn't seem like he knew the menu at all). When we disliked the wine and wanted to send it back we got charged for two bottles and then the server proceeded to yell at us despite the fact that he couldn't provide details on the bottle and didn't let us try it first. Ran through every item on the menu vs recommending.
