We came to Thai72 on Sunday evening for dinner. Found street parking right across the store, lucky!! We entered the restaurant within couple of minutes of opening, and I was surprised to see they were fully prepared. The interior of the restaurant was gorgeous, modern rustic look with brick walls all around. I started with the Seafood Tom Yum soup that was excellent. Had the spice and plenty of zest of the citrus. We got the roti canai as well that came with soft roti, but the chicken and the curry tasted average to me. For entree I ordered the Kao-obb Bkk, a unique rice dish with deep fried chicken, shrimp, scallops and sausage. I had mixed feeling about the dish. I liked the sauce, shrimp and scallop but the chicken seemed too chewy. The staff were super friendly. They stopped by the table every few minutes. The appetizers came out quickly but the entrees needed 10-15 minutes. Though some of the dishes were underwhelming, overall we had a decent dinner experience.
Great Thai food on 72nd. The restaurant is clean. Relaxing vibes. It's a little dark in there. The service is great. The staff are friendly and attentive. The flavors are great. Heavy on the herbs and good portion. Roti canai is warm and soft. Overall a solid place for Thai food.
Great little Thai place in Manhattan. Restaurant is dark and intimate with just a few tables. Very interesting wall art. Service was quick and friendly. Menu was extensive. They even have poh tak soup. I only know of 1 other restaurant that serves poh tak soup!! I didn't order this though as it would've been too large of a portion for just me. We ordered the papaya salad and pepper steak. Both came out within minutes of being ordered. Flavors were vibrant. I did ask for my salad to be 4 star spicy and it wasn't spicy at all Would recommend for a quick lunch.
We tried Thai72 for the first time this week and had a nice meal. They had a cozy atmosphere, with Christmas decor all around. My boyfriend ordered the one of the curries ($18+ for Tofu or Vegetables) and I had the Healthy Soup ($10+ for Small) + Roti Canal ($16+). The Roti Canal felt a bit pricey considering the size / amount, but I loved it and would order it again. The Healthy Soup was also exactly what I wanted, although it too, was a bit pricey for what it was. They could make the small one a bit smaller and less pricey. (The large is $15+) The service was fine and it was a decent meal overall. I'm happy to add Thai72 to my restaurant repertoire in UWS.
Got 3 entrees instead of an appetizer and 2 entrees. Got drunken noodles, Khao soi and massaman curry. a perfect symphony trilogy of spice and everything nice! all 3 dishes were elite and full of flavors with fantastic seasoning. it was pretty brick in nyc but this meal got me warmed up to the core! thank you Thai72, for being so inviting and giving us a safe cozy haven from the nights cold with a succulent thai meal. everyone was kind and forgiving. 10/10 A++ i will see you soon on another cold evening !
The drunken noodle dish at Thai72 was very flavorful and I loved the spice level. Sometimes I worry that I will get zero spice when I order mild. Thai72's mild was perfect and offered a nice kick. Price was great for the portion and location. There were a lot of people here for late dinner on a Friday, but the service was attentive and quick which I appreciated! The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the ambience-- something about it felt sterile and made it feel uncomfortable. Can't put my finger on it, just didn't care for it. In any case, I would go back for the food! My friend enjoyed her fried rice. This location is a staple for her.
Craving real Thai flavors? Head to Thai72 on the Upper West Side -- where every dish is crafted with premium ingredients and authentic recipes. From flavorful curries to mouthwatering appetizers, each bite is full of rich, aromatic taste. Don't miss their braised pork curry -- tender, savory, and simply unforgettable. Pair your meal with a refreshing cocktail, a cold beer, or a glass of wine.
Service was really great, noticed we were sharing and accommodated nicely. It was all delicious, both the red curry and duck. The lychee mimosa also was perfect, not too sweet.
Just go. Get the veg dumplings and kra-praw-Kai sub with minced chicken and vegetables in a spicy basil sauce. It comes medium which was the perfect heat level. The dumplings were outstanding, adorable purse like shape with crisp veggies and topped with fried garlic flakes. Still thinking about them. Beautiful dark glam decor and friendly service. Reasonable prices and good portions.
Great Thai place. Curry puffs and chive pancakes were tasty. Massaman curry was also really good, tasty bowl of comforting coconut curry. The Thai ice tea looked fancy, and service was great.
I came here for a dinner on a Friday night with a group of friends. I strongly recommend making a reservation here in advance because they get pretty busy. There were seven of us and we all got different items on the menu. We also got several different appetizers. It seems like everybody was really happy with their food. They have very diverse flavors and the spice level is pretty manageable. They even have a full bar with delicious cocktails and mocktails.
It was a fair meal until I got the bill $9 for a tea. Yes I should have looked on the menu for the price but when lunch was $12 a person the last thing you expect is $9 for a tea. No way would have have guessed $9 for a tea, $3, $5 but $9???? Also their lunch special feels like an airline ticket. $12-14 for lunch special but if you want salad it's $3-6 more, appetizer $3-7 more. I think i would rather go to a lunch special down the street that gives appetizer, salad, and entree for $14-18. Feels like this isn't really a deal with all the add ons
Ambiance (5/5) - The inside has a lovely décor and it is not too loud inside. Service (4/5) - We were attended to throughout the service. We had no issues with timing of our ordering and dishes. A little difficult getting our checks to pay/leave. Thai Crepe (5/5) - The exterior reminds of a steamed rice roll. After some wresting to pick up (and if not punctured in the attempt), the inside has loose meat filling. It tastes delicious on its own with good flavor and mix of textures. Braised Pork (3/5) - The presentation was gorgeous. The meat however fell flat because it was almost too dry despite the lovely marinated flavors. The dish needed like double the sauce as the curry was only enough to complement a few bites. Drunken Noodles (4/5) - Can't go wrong with the drunken noodles. I think next time I'd go for a little more than medium. Was hoping for a little more in portion. I've ordered their take out before. The massaman curry while tastes good, could be a little thicker.
I came here on a Friday night after my cousin suggested we stop by. Once we entered, we were greeted by the host and seated at our table. We started with the fried calamari, which was really crispy on the outside and wasn't too salty. It had the perfect balance of flavor with the sauce it came with, and I really enjoyed it. We also got the chicken skewers, which came with peanut sauce and another sweet sauce. Those were solid as well. For my main, I got the Drunken Noodles. I asked for them not too spicy, and they came with just a slight kick, which I liked. I really enjoyed the dish. My experience here was great, from the food to the service. Maybe it was the combination of good company, conversation, food, and drinks, but I really enjoyed my time here. * 4.5 stars * Great service read more

Amazing sized portion. Amazing delicious food, Amazing staff and super cozy inside. Large menu wuth lots of choices for everyone as well. We visited on a weekend and there was a line, we ended up going else where and coming back another day. We then ended up visiting on a weekday and there was no line and the restaurant was mostly empty. We got a pad see ew, a rice dish, and two appetizers between two people. Loved everything from the Pad thai meal to the Roti appetizer. read more
Taylor's Tayke: Thai 72 is a solid Upper West Side option when you want Thai food with plenty of variety and a menu that encourages sharing. What stood out to me was how much the sauces elevated the experience, especially with the appetizer sampler. Between the flaky curry puffs, flavorful noodles, crispy duck, and refreshing cocktails, there were plenty of strong moments throughout the meal. I'd come with someone, order a spread for the table, and let everybody find their favorite. My Tipsy Tayke: The Lychee Mojito was refreshing, minty, and actually delivered on the lychee flavor. Sweet enough to be enjoyable without taking away from how refreshing a mojito should be. My Taysty Tayke: Get Down & Dirty, Expeditiously: Drunken Noodles with Beef One of my favorites of the night. The noodles were packed with flavor, and the beef was tender enough to make the whole dish come together. Standout: Crispy Duck Crispy, tender, and flavorful. I really enjoyed it with the rice and its slightly nutty topping, but my cheat code was dipping the duck into some of the leftover sauces from the appetizer sampler. Sleeper Pick: Curry Puffs Soft, slightly sweet, flaky, and buttery. These disappeared quickly. The Appetizer Sampler is a great way to start because you get a variety of bites and sauces. The shumai was packed with flavor, while the chicken satay was much better once paired with the ginger sauce. The wrapped shrimp had a lighter, brighter flavor that almost felt refreshing compared to some of the heavier dishes. Desserts: The Mango Sticky Rice was probably the weakest part of the meal for me. The sticky rice had the right texture but needed more flavor. The Brownie & Ice Cream delivered on chocolate flavor, although I would've preferred a softer, less floury brownie. Service: Welcoming and attentive throughout the meal. Plates From My Visit: Appetizer Sampler Shumai Chicken Satay Curry Puffs Wrapped Shrimp Drunken Noodles with Beef Crispy Duck Mango Sticky Rice Brownie & Ice Cream Lychee Mojito In Conclusion: Thai 72 has a strong mix of shareable appetizers, flavorful entrées, and refreshing drinks. My move is the appetizer sampler to start, followed by the Drunken Noodles and Crispy Duck, with a Lychee Mojito on the side. Stamped by Elajas read more

We came here lunch over the weekend and all enjoyed our meals. I got a lychee thai ice tea to start. This wasn't overly sweet. It was refreshing. I had their pad see ew with chicken. It was a generous portion and really good! We all enjoyed our meals. Our waitress wasn't the friendliest, but thats ok. Would come back if in the area again. read more
Romantic, cute, warm, nice ambience, nice staff, good food. Nice drinks. Gender neutral bathrooms. Easy to remember where it is bc it's on 72nd street and Broadway avenue. Very small bowl of jasmine rice so we had to order an extra bowl which is $3. The food is good but just a bit salty. This is as of 8/11/2025. read more
The pad Thai is amazing but not very many shrimp! Maybe 5 total. They need to add more shrimp! I would give it 5 stars if there were more shrimp. The crab Rangoon supposedly has king crab in it. It's tasty but I couldn't really taste the king crab. read more

Ordered delivery from here: dare I say it's the best pad thai in the city! It wasn't soggy, it had great flavor, and it held up well even after a delivery! The dumpling appetizer was also exquisite and I hope to come in sometime and try it even fresher! Cheers! read more

Friday Night Showed up with no reservation and got seated immediately. Waitress was very friendly and polite. Chill vibe. Good for a date night or small group gathering. Thai food is pretty straight to the point so we knew what we wanted and ordered immediately. Overall, solid. Food came out in a decent amount of time. Everything tastes great. Spiced right and balanced. I will def go back read more

Very cute interior and fast and attentive service. I think I just made the bad choice of ordering the chicken noodle soup given it was a cold day. I shoulda known it wasn't gonna be good as I don't think it's a Thai dish at all. It is not super flavorful and super bland, I wish there were condiments to add. Their Thai tea was very good though and I will come back to try other food and update my review based on other options. read more

Love this spot for a consistent, delicious dinner. They have a Thai style Lamb chop that I dream about and had to have again. The pork skewers and that Pork Chop were also so delicious and flavorful! Cute spot for date or group dinner. read more
Great meal I'm stuffed. $39.19 for a filling meal. The crème brûlée was delicious for $9. The egg was delicious. The sugary top was a drug. Very tasty. The massamang curry was very tasty but also could've used more flavor too. The stripped chicken was perfectly cooked. Tasty. Loved the sticky rice (it comes with white rice fyi, I didn't know). Good. Nice mood lighting inside and service. They filled our water lots. read more
Such a lovely interior with a calm oasis atmosphere. There is dim lighting, bar towards the front, plenty of space inside, brick wall, and a cool wheel with pretty lights and lanterns in the back. I ordered the Kao-Obb BKK, or special Thai fried rice with deep fried shrimps, chicken, scallops & Thai sausages. This came in a clay pot, and looked quite impressive with all the meats. It was chicken heavy, with a decent amount of sausages, a few shrimp, and little bit of scallops. My favorite meats were the sausage and shrimp. They were wonderfully tender, succulent, and well seasoned. The rice was cooked just right, but was on the sweet side which I wasn't used to. Overall, a solid dish though. For dessert, I had to get the Mango Sticky Rice, however had I known it would cost $14, I might have restrained myself. That's almost the cost of some of the entrees! I did enjoy it and it was unique, as it was served with sticky purple coconut rice. The rice was the perfect sticky consistency, and the coconut taste shone through. The mango was fresh, soft, and there was sweet condensed milk drizzled on top, which elevated the flavors. Service was solid. We were well taken care of throughout our meal. Pricing is reasonable with most entrees costing between $15-20, but the Signature Dishes are a little higher. I would be open to returning and would like to try the Fried Calamari, Three Flavored Seabass or Duck Tamarind. read more

Thai72's chef has an exciting story, which was only one of the reasons we chose this restaurant during a recent NYC visit. Although it was a busy Friday night, we were able to reserve a table for two while walking toward the restaurant. The food is amazing and the appetizers came out quickly. My tofu pad Thai was steaming and the seafood plate my husband ordered was full of spice and flavor. The only issue would be how loud it is, which is common for small spaces containing a lot of simultaneous conversations. read more

Beat Thai food I've had in NYC so far. I got two appetizers, the roti with the side of Massaman curry, and the fried spring rolls. The roti was gorgeously flakey and perfectly fried, and the Massaman tasted like someone's experienced grandma whipped it up. Just... amazing. Not as thick as some restaurants make it, which I actually liked, and the chicken was tender instead of the tough, pan fried chicken that gets served with curries like this too often. The spring rolls were piping hot, flakey, golden, and just so satisfying. I'll be back for the fried ice cream with raspberry sauce, cause that was calling my name! read more
