Outdoor Seating

Thai Table is an amazing restaurant. There is paid parking on University Avenue and residential parking in the neighborhood. The restaurant has indoor seating with a bright, uplifting interior as well as some outdoor tables to enjoy some fresh air. The food is tasty, even for takeout orders. Service is kind and professional. Overall, Thai Table is a great dining option that I keep returning to time and time again.

This place is authentic Thai street food. Delish! Cooked well. Our fav was the Thai basil chicken and pumpkin curry.

Ordered take out. The crab fried rice was good. Calamari was cold and the batter tasted like funnel cake batter. Looks nothing like the advertised images.

This was such a cute little place, the ambience really gave a Thai feel, the staff were super friendly and ready to answer all of our questions. I ordered mild spice which really wasn't spicy at all but more sweet than anything so don't be afraid to order medium and if you really like spicy, go for the hot. I definitely recommend this place if you're ever in the Berkeley Marina area.

Pad Thai Noodle

I had a lovely lunch here and would definitely come back Taste: We ordered the pad thai and the papaya salad. I liked the pad thai tastes and I liked how the papaya salad had a variety of ingredients like iceberg lettuce, green beans, papaya, green onion, and peanuts! Parking: We had to street park and pay, so be ready for that Service: It was good!

3.5* down Came here on a cold winter night for a big family dinner. Was easy to find street parking nearby (but might not always be the case as this is Berkeley!). Place is small and cozy, we did feel a bit boxed in as a larger party (6 people), but still manageable. Service is friendly, there were even little Ferrero rochers waiting for us at our seat when we arrived! The flavors were all generally good, we did feel like the portions were a little small for the price, but some dishes that hit the spot were: - Thai papaya salad (refreshing and delicious) - red curry with purple rice I would come back and give this place another try but probably not as such a large group, maybe with just a friend and share a few things. But with so many Thai/Lao places to choose from in the east bay, they have some stiff competition!

Chicken Satay and Fried Tofu

Very solid. This is my third time coming here. Their fried tofu and chicken satay appetizers were quite good. Their cocktails were also very yummy. The place is very cute and has nice decor. The music was very loud so it was a little hard to talk, but overall still a good experience.

I came here for the big freshwater prawn noodle dish and left incredibly disappointed. Not only was the dish too salty overall, but there was also a piece of plastic in the noodle dish that I discovered. And the freshwater prawns were mushy and not fresh at all. I would strongly avoid this place, feels like a tourist trap. Good marketing, bad product.

Great experience came here late night for dinner after an aggressive happy hour Was nice to walk in with the ambience and good vibes! Got some help from people sitting nearby that were clearly regulars on what to order! Full of flavor and authentic thai flavors always makes me so happy! The lettuce wraps were perfection and I would get them over and over. Khao sao was creamy and tasty!

Was in the North Berkeley area and was looking up places to eat for dinner. It was a Saturday night and some places close fairly early and others have wait lists, on Yelp there was availability so we walked over from where we were at and they were able to seat our party of 2 and we didn't have to sign up. It was very festive with party/club like music and busy! There was indoor and outdoor seating but it was cold outside and more of a waiting area. There's street parking in a pretty busy main area. We started with the Sai Aou- Pork Sausage, Thai Papaya Salad (less spicy than Lao), then ordered Panang Curry with Beef (slow cooked) I saw lots of people review this one. It honestly reminded me of Filipino Kare Kare. And we ordered a side of roti (so good to dip) and Pad See Ew with Chicken. My friend ordered a Thai tea and it was very tea/floral. Everything was really good and delicious! Definitely hit the Thai food craving! Lively, colorful, and bright inside! We were able to easily split the bill and they had a handheld machine to pay.

Tasty food ate within a beautiful ambiance as my wife and I celebrated our 10 yr relationship anniversary. That was our waitress that is pictured below. I had Pad See Ew and I can't remember what my wife had. However, she had an entree that had alot of seafood. We mouth enjoyed our meals. Oh..we had wings, but I was not a fan.

Update for my previous review. Owners were amazing and immediately reached out to me and went above and beyond to make the situation right!

Thai Table sits on University Ave, basically a stone's throw from UC Berkeley -- the kind of distance where you could leave class mid-rant about postmodernism, snag a plate of shrimp rolls, and still make it back having memorized all 24 d-block elements like it's speed dating for metals before anyone noticed you were gone (trust me, they won't). The vibe? Warm, welcoming, none of that Berkeley strain of hyper-correct energy where everyone's triple-checking which ballot initiatives to petition for, what compost bins are displayed, and whether their aura is culturally appropriated. Here, it's just food, people, and actual enjoyment -- which in Berkeley feels borderline illegal. Parking? Yeah, it's Berkeley, so you'll do a few laps, but compared to San Francisco it's basically valet. Indoors is cozy, and outdoors is... well, it's University Ave. Imagine dining next to traffic fumes while watching the Berkeley Catwalk™ -- a nonstop parade of people who look like they're auditioning for a documentary called "Too Cool to Smile." Cyclists wobble by, cars cough up exhaust, and the main attraction is deciding which bumper sticker is the most sanctimonious. Alfresco dining? Sure. Romantic? Only if you're turned on by brake lights and self-righteous glares. The shrimp rolls? Lettuce, carrots, cabbage, garlic fish sauce -- crisp, bright, perfect. Basically, the kind of thing that makes you say "I'd share this, but I don't actually want to." (5/5). The basil chicken with black rice, fried egg on top? That dish has its life together. Balanced, bold, delicious -- everything your LinkedIn app profile pretends to be. (5/5). Mango shrimp was a pleasant surprise. Mango can get pushy, like that guy in your DMs who thinks "heyyy" is a personality. But here, it played nice with the shrimp, peppers, and even the zucchini cameo. (4/5). And then dessert -- mango sticky rice. Sweet, creamy coconut drizzle, sticky in the right ways, the whole thing just... worked. (5/5). If you're not smiling after that, I'd check your pulse. Overall: Nearly perfect. It's got the flavor, the vibe, and none of the Berkeley overthinking. You eat, you laugh, you leave happier. That's rare, dare I say unpseudointellectual?

Food is great but they need to offer food with mild spices. Not everyone likes hot spice in their food.

What type of cooking oil do you use? Thank you.

We cook with vegetable oil :)

What oils are used for stir frying and deep frying?

The owner responded to my question. She said they use vegetable oil but did not specify which vegetable oil. My guess is they probably cook/fry with canola or soybean oils which are popular with restaurants. Maybe peanut oil. Most restaurant owners…

Do you take reservations?

Yes! my husband made reservations for us because we just wanted everything right However in the past we have gone without reservations & had no problems

So been living in Oakland for going on 15 years now. I'm not what you would call a "bar" person. I…read moretend to enjoy my cocktails, wine, and beer in the cozy confines of my own home. That said I'm occasionally inspired to go check out the local watering holes for a good pour, some food if possible, and just to be in the presence of the human pulsation. Walking into Tallboy on a Thursday afternoon was a bit like Nirvana for me. There is a comforting vibe of neighborhood and after work people shedding responsibility and "toe the lineness" and transitioning to pondering true meaning and the other side of the elliptical bend over nicely crafted cocktails and HOTDOGS! I am a hotdog fiend, and Tallboy has a very creative range on the menu that does not disappoint. From a basic onions/mustard, an Elote Dog, an a Coney Islandesque (it has chili) version. Some folk go to bar and line up shots (or craft cocktails). At Tallboy you can do that AND line up their hotdogs which I intend on doing in the very near future. The pleasantries don't stop at the food (there are other delicious snack items on their menu to choose from too). Tallboy has a fully stocked bar, and the menu has a list of really unique and delicious signature craft cocktails. I'm not a Mezcal drinker, but I ended up dubiously ordering their Guava Martini which to my smokey surprise is made with Mezcal. I stayed with the smokey fruitiness of this Guava Martini as it was my mistake that I did not read in the description it is made with Mezcal, and ended up chasing it with their Tamarindo Cocktail which also has Mezcal. To those who really enjoy Mezcal the Tallboy Guava Martini and the Tamarindo Cocktail do not disappoint. Both have that deep Smokey Mezcal essence, but cut with the fruit sweetness. I personally think the Tamarindo balances well with the Mezcal. The Guava Martini the Mezcal comes through stronger, but both are just the tonic to release any existential pinging going on in your head. If you really want to kick in the hyperdrive pair either of these with an Elote Dog. I had their Deli Dog which sufficed. I think the Deli Dog would pair better with their standard Martini, but hey let's us not bring that snobbiness into Tallboy. Tallboy has an element of cloak and dagger or secret treehouse club about it. What I mean here is there is no signage on the outside (please keep it that way!). When you walk past all you see is this quaint beigeish/yellow brick façade of an establishment which begs you to press your face to the glass and scan what in the blazes is going on in here! Before you know it you are caught in the Tallboy tractor beam, and you find yourself sitting at the bar with some kind of craft drank and hotdog pondering the space and the very nice old fashioned wainscoting painted a shade of green circa 1930 (my description of winning in life). The cadre of bartenders are all really pleasant folk, very attentive (checking in with you to see if you need another round, hotdog, or snack), have tight shaker skills, and they know their craft and the menu. Tallboy also has SLUSHIES, and I did not do a deep dive on them, but I'm positive they may/do put spirits in them; or not. Also I noticed other patrons with a beautiful enticing thing that looked like an ice cream sundae milkshake hybrid (it had what looked like whipped cream on top) in on old timey soda fountain ice cream goblet. This could be a craft cocktail they make with the slushie, but major props for serving it in that goblet. I will investigate on my next visit which I intend to be very soon. Tallboy is the kind of bar establishment I could easily adopt as my after work living room for a couple of hours everyday.

Both the drink and food menus are well thought out. We asked for some advice when ordering and the server (owner?) was very kind, honest, and helpful. Everything we had was excellent! We tried some standard choices and unusual ones and it was all amazing. Best veggie pakora (flavor, texture, and sauce) in the area. The spices across the board were artfully dimensional and delicious, not just hot or overwhelming. The cocktails and mocktails were really nice- a little unusual (distinctive, but not weird). They were well balanced and beautifully served. This is our new favorite Indian spot and we'll definitely be back!

We started to see Shattuck 'wake back up' if you will, as most places close and reopen around 4:30-5:00pm. Service was quick, and if we weren't on our own food tour de Berkeley, would have ordered a couple of happy hour snacks or just stayed for dinner. We heard the Tikka Masala Fried Chicken and the Indian fusion brunch are something to def make our way back to try. Other unique menu items: Tumeric Mashed Potatoes, Sesame Avocado Fry Bread, Tigerlily Nachos & Tacos, and the North Indian Style Meatballs. Tupper and Reed still stands tall above everyone else. I stopped in on a Saturday evening, feeling pretty mellow. After I arrived, a band started up that reminded me of the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack. You can't beat the ambiance, since this was an old music store, and the please is littered with antique record players and instruments. There are some negative reviews here about rude, more accurately, unresponsive bartenders, and I don't think they get what this place is all about. If you want a chatty, friendly bartender, go to an Irish pub. This place is all about creating unique concoctions in volume. Having said that, I'll tell you a story. In March 2019, I was with a chatty bartender here, since it was a quiet night. I was looking at the vast array of bottles, and noticed something that said "Buffalo Trace" but looked different from their usual bottle. I asked her what it was, and she didn't know. It had about three fingers left at the bottom, so she looked at me mischievously and said, "wanna finish it with me?" So we did. Turns out, that 375 ml bottle was worth about $300. It was one of their experimental batches, made with oats in 2002. I found a bottle online in England and got it shipped here. Best whiskey I've ever had.
