Thai restaurants have a lot of variation between them. The way some of the menu items were prepared implied yet another variation that I haven't seen before. That is actually a benefit! This isn't just "another" Thai restaurant. Walking in, the ambiance is quiet and calming. We were greeted promptly and served quickly. That's nice, but what about the food? I ordered my benchmark dish -- green curry -- along with some other food for the others at the table. If a Thai restaurant can make a good green curry, I've found that the rest of their food will also be good. Sure enough, this was a good green curry! Perfectly spiced, served with a huge heap of steamed rice. The other dishes were very good, too, but as they are not my benchmark dish, I will leave exploring the menu to you. The pineapple fried rice is to die for! To veganize it I get it without egg and add tofu and veggies. I always take friends and family here. The portion sizes are perfect for family style. My family loves the curry. Be careful with adding spice as it can be quite spicy. You can always ask for spice on the side. You can't go wrong with going here. One time when ordering takeout they forgot to add tofu and just added veggies in my dish and the offered to have my next visit be free or get a cash refund. We ordered the chicken satay, green curry, and pad Thai. I subbed my rice for steamed veggies. The satay and pad Thai were good. The green curry was too watery for me and lacked flavor. I had leftovers and really struggled to eat them. I wouldn't order the curry again. I'm looking forward to returning to try something else. read more

I think one of the last places on earth I could score delicious Thai food would be in Webster, TX, but I couldn't be more wrong. Thai Stellar is really all that and more, exceeding my expectations on so many levels that it deserves a full five stars. It might not look incredibly spacious from the outside, but they've done a great job of inserting a number of tables for all sorts of groups in one room. Decor wise, Thai Stellar really took the time to make sure they had elements featured from the motherland. There are murals / elephant art adorning the walls, vintage + rustic drink signs in Thai all over the bar, and even an actual tuk tuk in the corner. Bathrooms are a little stale, but no one's perfect. The food is the real attraction and everything I had was truly fantastic. The drunken noodles, pad thai, pad see ew have a smokiness to them and the tom yum soup is dense as it is flavorful. Chicken satay is tender and the curries (notably the massaman and panang curry) are tasty with just a touch of heat. I wasn't sold on the shrimp fried rice initially but after one bite, I was convinced it was a must order dish. I think from my sampling, I could deduce just about everything is a safe bet. Service was as hospitable as any Thai establishment I've been. While they were busy, they were able to fulfill most orders of our group while keeping our glasses full and accommodating us at every moment of the meal. Being friendly was really just a bonus at this point. I know the Houston area has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to food but they've really scored a big win in Thai Stellar. My first visit here was just some years ago and tbh wasn't a really good experience due to a lack of sauce in my order, very thin pieces of chicken and subpar service. I am very glad I decided to give this place another shot. It was the complete reverse in the best ways a customer can desire. I ordered the Red Curry with chicken at 3/5 spice level earlier. It was very delicious, full of fresh ingredients, contained excellent aromas and was certainly authentic in prep as well. Imo, I rank this as my second favorite red curry of all right after the one from Thai Garden and at a toss-up with the one from Songkran Kitchen in Houston many miles away. Both very different styles. The gravy in this selection was very herby, well-balanced, mildly sweet and just a smidge spicy. It had a more oily texture than creamy, but more importantly, the taste was really good. It satisfied that Thai curry craving right on the dot. The chicken pieces were very juicy, tender and plentiful without any rubbery pieces at all. The bamboo shoots, basil, bell peppers and carrot slices were all cooked thoroughly like the chicken with no flawed pieces whatsoever. A little extra crunch to compliment the rest. The service was very attentive, friendly, welcoming and efficient. I plan to also try the pineapple curry and pad Thai here in the future when I'm in the area. Thai Stellar 803 E NASA Pkwy, Webster, TX 77598 One of my absolute favorite Thai restaurants to hit up. A bit price for dinner with most plates hitting the $13 mark. Folks with smaller stomachs can easily share 1 plate, though you may miss out on trying a variety of things. Now what I really value about Thai stellar is the consistency. Some restaurants will have their hit and misses--these guys have always consistently delivered flavor-town. Flavors are bold--as they should be! The sweet and savory notes will dance in your mouth as you stuff and chew. You can appreciate flavors created by lemongrass, basil infusion, and coconut milk--man just talking about it makes my mouth water. The tables are well spaced apart--this place is huge. You won't have to worry about bumping into any tables on the way to the restroom. Decor is interesting and not overwhelming. They have chalkboards with menu items in their native tongue--it's really cool. Lighting is just the right dimness and gives you that sort of romantic feel. If your date likes Thai, I would add this place on your list of potential restaurants to take them. Recommendations: 1.) Pad see ew - Definitely not pad see EWW. They kill it here. Now I ordered a 3/5 on spice but I literally tasted nothing (spiciness).They must've simply forgotten the peppers; not making a scene, it taste pretty damn good already so me and my bud kept on keeping on. In Houston, they definitely make the best pad see ew (besides my fiancé, of course). 2.) Tom kha gai soup - Pretty. Damn. Solid. The coconut milk mellows it out just the right amount for me. I still need that lemony bite and I was definitely getting that. A $9 bowl can make about 4 or 5 rice bowls of soup. 3.) Thai tea - not too sweet. Just how I like it. I will say for $5 it's definitely on the lower side when it comes to value as you get about 10 oz worth in a small glass filled with ice. Value definitely goes up with the no ice option at $6.50. Those who just want a cold taste will be happy with the former (like me!) Critical thoughts: OK, so I've known their fried rice options were lacking but I figured I'd give them another shot after a couple years. My feelings haven't really changed--its a little too light in flavor. The mussels were good and definitely have 'gram appeal. The sauce is nice, but the mussels themselves could use some love (could be cooked in a broth rather than plain water). But yeah, stick to the noodles and you'll stay a happy camper. After 4 dishes (2 apps, 2 entrées) & 2 Thai teas the bill came out to be about $64. Just a hair on the pricier side, but it's so good, it's an easy "yes" that I'd come back. read more

Tried Thai Steller for the first time today, at my husband's request. He had visited a few times previously. I had the Drunken Noodles with beef and he had the beef fried rice. We also had the fried tofu for appetizer. I will say; I am NOT a fan of fried tofu at all and I LOVED IT!!! The Beef Drunken Noodles were SUPERB; probably the best I have had. The beef fried rice had such a good flavor too! We were very impressed. I will also note that the waiter made special requests to both of my parents who had never been to a Thai place before. My mom has a lot of food allergies and is very limited to what she can eat; my dad is just very picky and did not know what he would like. So the waiter worked with them to choose something safe for both of them to enjoy. The ambiance is really nice too!!! We chose a table as opposed to booth and I was glad we did! I keep ordering the tom yum soup at dinner hoping it will taste like the lunch tom yum soup. It still does not and it's my second try. I thought that I was not ordering it spicy enough, (fyi lunch is zero spice level) but that wasnt it and i sure will be regretting it later if u know what i mean. One of the tastes is missing. I feel like the dinner cook forgets an ingredient that the lunch cook does not. Too bad I am too far for lunch. If you've never been to Thai Stellar before then do yourself the favor and make the trip. Before the meal is over you'll already be planning your next visit. By the time you're done with your food your stomach, heart, and mind will be thanking you. The food here is IMO better than Thai Gourmet (which is often referred to as the best Thai restaurant in Houston) and at cheaper prices. My personal favorite is the pad-see-ew w/beef. It is literally one of my favorite dishes of all time. I've never experienced euphoria before until I had this dish. I usually don't like sweet entrees, but whatever sauce they use is amazing. It reminds me of a sweet black bean sauce, but I could be wrong. Both the noodles and beef are soft and they don't skimp out on either. The portion is huge! Two other dishes I regularly order are the crispy tofu appetizer and papaya salad. The tofu appetizer is rectangle blocks of tofu lightly fried and served with a sweet chili sauce and ground peanuts. It's a simple dish, but a great appetizer to get the meal going. Most of the papaya salads I've had at other restaurants tend to be bland, but not the one here. The ingredients are as fresh as can be and whatever dressing they use is light but flavorful. Be careful what spicy level you order because it can get quite spicy. The restaurant itself is a bit darker than I prefer, but the food more than makes up for it. I also like that the tables are large so you never feel like you don't have enough space. read more

Delicious! Restaurant is clean with really neat ambiance including Thai decorations, pedicab, and soda ads. The staff is very attentive and we did not wait long for anything (although our meal was during the pre-dinner lull). The Pad Thai that our boys got was on par with any of our favorite locations. I got Spicy Thai Basil Pork (favorite dish) and this one was among the best. Perfect balance of flavor and heat. Not overly oily and all the veggies were clearly fresh with generous servings of pork. So I was under the assumption that I reviewed this place before since I've eaten here more than once. But when I browsed the reviews section, nothing by me appeared. Thai Stellar is currently in takeout mode because COVID, but it doesn't diminish how super its food is. To be more precise, their red curry with pork is *does Abe Simpson impression* the bee's knees, baby. The kitchen staff wasn't only generous with the meat, but they did a great job bringing out the heat I expect with Level 3 on the spice chart. I was also thrilled with the carrots included in the dish. The fried rice I also ordered, however, was hit or miss. I thought I was going to experience a thrilling burst of flavor with it, but it wasn't meant to be. The restaurant has other types of fried rice so it's possible those could be the charm(s).
