We came here on our visit to Houston. After a long and tiring visit to NASA, we were ravenous. After coming here we had to wait for five minutes for a seat. Once we were seated, they took our orders very quickly. We ordered two large bowls of tom yum soup, one with seafood and the other with veggies. Each can be shared with two to three people.we also ordered a couple of tileapia fillets with T2 sauce and a dish that was called something like sweet and sour veggies. Warning to those who are not used to large servings, the food amounts here are large. While we found it very difficult to finish the food, the food was very good. It was flavored well and not very spicy (even though I took spice level 5). Overall the ambience, the service and the experience was great. We got turned away from Thai spice and Thai cottage. We really wanted Thai so I went to trusty ole Yelp and found Thai Stellar. Their ratings were way higher than the previously mentioned restaurants. So we decided to give them a try. It is Located in a shopping center that I would have easily passed up. The restaurant is nice and extremely clean. The wait staff is very attentive. But the food. Apparently for over 20 years I didn't know how real Thai food is supposed to taste. Everything was an explosion of flavor in our mouths. And soooo fresh. We had the egg rolls, dumplings, and chicken satay. the entrees were crispy whole fish and glass noodles. All things we order at Thai spice but Thai Stellar had them beat by several miles. And finally we had the tapioca for dessert. The best ever. We will be back. Ok, I'm a novice when it comes to Thai and I only have one other place and experience to compare the food to, but I'm willing to go all out on a limb and say that this place is has some REALLY good food! I've had the green and red curry (chicken) and have been more than satisfied with both. The curries are well seasoned, flavorful (I usually get level 3) and the veggies are fresh. I have yet to try the pad thai or drunken noodles but they are next on my list when I get ready to go on carb binge. I like the curries because I can control how much rice I use. Another thing to make mention of is that you get complimentary soup and salad during lunch which makes it a great value. Wow what a gem of a place in Clear Lake! I had no clue this place was here until I was perusing nearby restaurants on my Yelp app! So glad I found it! I came here on a business lunch, and this was a great place for that because it was quiet, so you could actually hear what the other person was saying! I wanted to have Chicken Satay as an appetizer, but was advised they didn't have it today? Ok, skip the appetizers then! If you get an Entree, they do bring out a small soup and salad, which was nice because I was starving (as usual)! For my Entree, I ordered E2 (Smoked Chili) with Chicken added. E2 has chili paste, onions, carrots, bell pepper and cashews. I got the spice level a 3 (on a scale of 1-5) and I found that it wasn't spicy enough, so I added my own chili paste. That's ok though because you can always make it hotter, but if it comes out too hot, you can't tame it to be palatable! LOL My friend got E1 (Thai Basil) and also added Chicken with a spice level of 3. E1 comes with bell peppers, onions and basil. I tried a bite of hers and it, too, was really good, more on the sweet side. They also bring a healthy serving of white rice, which I only used about half of. Ok we have now been here more times than I can count. Food and service is so good that we crave it nightly. We have taken friends and family here and even those that usually only eat steak or have been afraid to try any Asian food other than a Chinese buffet have loved it! I tried this place today for the first time with my sister, brother-in-law and their 3 kids. We arrived around 1:30. Inside it's dark with lots of modern hanging lights. I liked it. My man doesn't like Asian food which sucks for me. This would be a great place to go for date night. I wanted to order some vegetable egg rolls but they don't serve them. They do serve pork egg rolls though. I decided to try the Thai dumplings with shrimp and crab meat. They were steamed. I prefer pan-fried dumplings but these were OK. We were served complimentary small salads and soups. The soup had a really interesting flavor. It was like a sweet, slightly-spicy broth. Yum! My sister and brother-in-law ordered the large Tom Kha Gai which was the chicken soup with coconut milk and mushrooms. That was delicious! I don't like mushrooms but they were large slices so I could eat around them. The flavor was great but it would have been better if the consistency was a little thicker in my opinion. I ordered the Mussamun Curry with shrimp. I also asked for pan-fried rice instead of white rice. The Mussamun Curry was very sweet like other reviewers have pointed out. I still enjoyed it but I wish I had asked for it to be a little spicy, maybe a 1 or 2 spice level. That was my fault. I asked for mild. I think the spice would have balanced out the sweetness. The Mussamun Curry consisted of a sweet coconut milk broth which tasted like it had cinnamon in it along with potatoes, carrots and onions. Next time I will not be such a wuss and I'll ask for more spice. Oh, and I loved that the shrimp was medium/large pieces. That's a plus! They shared the drunken noodles and decided to get the spicy level 3. My sister said she should have gone with 2 instead. They enjoyed this dish but wished it was a larger portion since they shared it. For the kids they ordered the crispy fried shrimp with a sweet chili sauce on the side. The shrimps were large, butterflied pieces. There were 5 on the plate but that was plenty because the kids don't eat much and they are picky. I loved the unsweetened Thai iced tea they served. I didn't get the kind with cream in it although it looked wonderful. I just wanted regular iced tea. They said it was Thai tea. I need to find out what brand they use. It tasted like a spicy black tea. I thought it was Chai tea. It was divine! The servers were very sweet and helpful. No complaints there. The restaurant itself looked clean but again, it was really dark in there. It's in a shopping center so it's easy to miss. Luckily I had my Waze app to guide me. Overall, I really enjoyed my lunch today. For the Thai dumplings, iced tea, Mussamun Curry and side of fried rice, it was $23.80. Not super cheap but I don't mind paying that much for good food. The food here was amazing, it was fresh and came out so quickly. We came on a weekend for lunch and did not have to wait to be seated. They had tables cordoned off for social distancing. Our waitress was nice enough to go over all the popular dishes, like page by page! We had the mussels and papaya salad for appetizers and both were delish. This is the most authentic Thai restaurant I've tried in the Houston area. It's as authentic as it gets really. It is usually not too busy, but it's pretty new so I expect it will start getting more traffic soon. The food is very consistent and always impresses me! I've tried most of the traditional meals - curry, cashew nut, and many others. You'll spend about $10-12 per plate, and it's well with it. UPDATE LOVE LOVE LOVE the new renovations. They had renovated once before and added a projector that faced the ceiling in the middle of the wrong with nature pictures but then they got rid of that and added in these awesome hanging lights and created more tables. I love looking at the movie posters on the left side of the wall. Their menu has expanded as well which is awesome because there are more yummy dishes to try now. So far I've been stuck on my red curry with chicken at a spice level of 3 and drunken noodles with beef at a spice level of 3. I know I need to try more stuff but I just can't shake my cravings when I go there. The thai tea is a MUST as well. Super delicious and refreshing on a hot day! I went in today for lunch with 2 other coworkers and it was absolutely amazing!! Everything from the service down to the food was just exceptional. I ordered the Pad-See-Ew with beef. It was so delicious and the beef was not dry. There was a slight sweetness to the scrambled egg, which complimented the noodles very well. I also love the fact that they serve their tom yum soup as part of the lunch special. I usually am picky with the soup because I have had it before at other locations and it usually comes out too sour for me. My coworkers were also very pleased with their choices. My first time here. I had the Red Currie with pork. It was excellent. The ambiance is plain but pleasant and the server friendly. If it's as good next time as it was this I'll up my rating to five stars. It's located adjacent to IHop it was as good the second time I've been here five times now and lives up to its name, it's always Stellar. But, there's a problem. I've come by three times when they were closed for days. These were all different occasions, 'cause I've found them open and eaten between occasions. I don't understand what's going on but each time I think they're going out of business. This is a terrible location for restaurants -- they keep going out of business here and being closed so much this unpredictability isn't going to help with that problem. Good amount of meat but not enough noodles. Portion is smaller than other Thai restaurants. Wouldn't get this again. Green curry - one of my favorite dishes here. It's flavorful and done right. Fried Tilapia fish with garlic basil sauce - took a while to come out (warned ahead by the waitress) . The sauce was too sweet. I wouldn't get this again. Pineapple fried rice - everyone loved it but I thought it was too saucy and oily for fried rice. Flavor was good but just didn't taste like other pineapple fried rice with that much sauce and oil. Wouldn't order again. Fried tofu - great appetizer. Love it. Papaya salad - too saucy and sweet. They keep the restaurant very clean and were very polite. Our waters were filled several times and they checked up on us several times. My husband accidentally left his credit card behind and it was safely held for us when we returned the next day to pick it up. Food: Amazing!! We ordered pad thai with tofu and the thai basil with chicken. Pad Thai was a little sweeter than I'm used to, but delicious none the less. It was served with a lime wedge, which enhanced the flavor even more. The thai basil had slices of red and green bell peppers, which were crispy and delicious. We ordered it with spice level 2, which was quite spicy but tolerable. I don't think I would order anything past level 2 (it goes up to 10!) Price: Great prices and large portion sizes! I think we found our Thai spot! The S.O. and I are obsessed! I found this place on a whim, we were going to dine in a closeby town and drove there and upon reading yelp reviews switched to go to Thai Stellar. I am so glad we did. The place is tucked into a plaza, not very visible from the service road unless you are looking for signage. The windows of the restaurant are filled with large pictures of the food to draw you in. The atmosphere of the restaurant is a little hard to describe. Think modern wild west with Thai decor. It's furnished with dark, finished wood, Thai movie posters, and a little rickshaw to make you experience a little piece of Thailand. There were little faux canvas paintings everywhere. The bathroom was what I am more used to with Thai places: extremely pink walls. It smelled like straight badussy though. I think there is a plumbing problem in the women's restroom but at least there are candles, coffee beans, and air freshener to try and mask the smell. The service was very good. There were two ladies working, we're assuming a mother and daughter, and they were handling a busy dining room like pros. The menu has a substantial amount of offerings. Spice levels are rated from 1-5. We are average spicy food eaters so we chose 3 for all our dishes. There is basically every Thai appetizer you would want. We had the pau pia taud (fried eggrolls) and papaya salad. The eggrolls were hot and satisfying. Definitely different than anything we've experienced. The pineapple sauce was familiar but goes great on fried items. The papaya salad was ordered as 3 spice level. Since the dish itself is very light the spice was very apparent. The plate was huge and the papaya was crunchy and fresh. It is different than papaya salad I've had before as I am used to fish sauce dressing in it, but we will probably order it again at level 2. The younger waitress was refilling the S.O.'s water often (he had just gotten off work) she offered to fix the dish to make it less spicy. We declined but it nice to know there is an option. I had the shrimp drunken noodles and the plate was huge! We still demolished it. The S.O. quite liked my dish and it was more than enough to share. The wide noodles were more on the thick and chewy side which I have no problem with. They were tossed perfectly in the sauce and had no grilled taste which is my preference. The seafood was tail on and cooked well. I liked all the vegetables but I've never seen green beans in Thai food. The S.O. had red curry. It was so complex and full of flavor which melled together. You can tell a lot of thought and time goes into it. It made me realize how many curries are heavy with coconut milk. Both our entrees had ample bamboo shoots. Yes please! I would say that the dishes could all do with a pinch of salt to taste. Since the entrees had more body, level 3 spice worked well with them and wasn't too spicy. This place is a high high recommend. I couldn't quite give it a full 5 stars yet because I did feel like there was an aspect missing from a few dishes, but it did make me rethink what authentic Thai food should be. read more

They have some daily/weekly specials they write out in the restaurant but I ordered the red curry level 2 with pork. My sister ordered the Coconut Island and my friends ordered the drunken noodles, pad see ew, and broccoli and pork stir fry. The noodle dishes were decent but I wasn't crazy about it. The coconut island was alright but the red curry really hit the spot. Surprisingly the level 2 for the curry was spicier than level 3 for stir fry so just be aware when you choose levels. Also tried the Tom yum soup and it was very tasty and had a good kick to it. I mainly was crazy about the red curry because of how it was just the right amount of spice and salty. There was a hint of sweetness (due to coconut milk probably) which made it just right. I wish there wasn't so much carrots and bamboo shoots. It would have been perfect if they could add more meat! Regardless, it lasted me 3 meals and it was absolutely delicious. The desserts weren't worth it to me but I tried the Thai tapioca and mango with sticky rice. Both was alright but not a huge fan. If this place wasn't so far, I'd be back without a doubt. But for now.
