I don't know if I ordered on a bad day or what but I was so disappointed in my food! I ordered pad Thai, dumplings, and spring rolls. Nothing tasted fresh. The vegetables in the spring rolls were warm and the shrimp was so over cooked, small, and rubbery. I took them out. My dumplings tasted like the ones you can buy frozen at sams club. For years, I have been a big fan of Thai Pepper. It was a great place to meet co workers & friends for the lunch buffet. But about 8 months ago, I noticed a lot of roaches in this restaurant, coming out of their walls & crawling near the buffet table. One of the last times I ate there it was clear that someone from the board of health was there, listing the many recommendations to solve their pest problems. This was a huge turn off & I did not return for months. About a month ago, I gave Thai Pepper another chance, after noticing that the restaurant had been cleaned & that their roach problem seemed to be over. My lunch that day was great & reminded me-how good Thai Pepper had been in the past. However, I went back with friends last week & was disappointed, again. It seems that the restaurant may be under new management as most of their Thai decor had been stripped from the walls & there is now a new commercial buffet table. Their new employees or maybe a new owner, lounged on a sofa in the dining room, while channel surfing on the TV overhead, like its his den & not a restaurant. Grade school children were clearing the tables, too. What is going on, here?! Our party of 4 could not get out of there, fast enough. Terrible experience. Met for lunch here not knowing there was a buffet, and was a bit skeptical at first, but after taking a look at it decided immediately not to order off the menu and go ahead with the buffet because it was huge and varied. There were soups, starters, and an amazing papaya salad, plus 8-10 main dishes like stir fries, chicken pad Thai and other noodle dishes, and a few types of curries. I have tried all the Northshore Thai restaurants, and this one is by far the best. The flavors are deep and complex. The only negative is that if you call to order takeout, you might not get what you ordered (English to Thai translations are never smooth), but in my case this was a good thing because I got introduced to some dishes I would not have otherwise tried. read more

We have been to Thai Pepper 4 times now for takeout. Not too familiar with Thai food but wanting to try new flavors. This restaurant is phenomenal! My wife and I absolutely love everything we have tried. We really enjoy the Spicy basil fried rice with pork, yellow curry with chicken, cashew chicken, and chicken satay. The quality of the meat is great. We are very picky about meat. No issues with any of our entrees. Portions are perfect, priced right, flavors are amazing. Highly recommend giving this place a try. Terrible. I feel bad writing this review, since I have been a regular on and off for years. The fried rolls were obviously pre-frozen, probably bought from a commissary. They were flavorless and oily. I ordered Shrimp Pad Thai, which tasted fishy and greasy. So much oil had been used in the wok that it was dripping off of the noodles. Used to order Pad Thai and it was light and fluffy back when the original owner, Toy, was the chef. Further, the server was disheveled and unkempt, wearing sweat pants, Crocs, and having oily hair that was not well managed. My family and I agreed we will NOT BE BACK. Horrible. read more

I live in New Orleans and cannot find good authentic Thai food. I was so happy when my friends took me to Thai Peppers. It was so delicious and the service was excellent. They owner sent out a complimentary appetizer of crispy spring rolls and we got Tom yum and khan soups, kee mao, pad see ew and a shrimp salad. I passed by this place several times and finally decided to try it. I am not disappointed! Today was my second time here. The food is really good and the Thai fried rice with beef is superb. One of the better rice dishes I ever ate. Try the pad Thai and dumplings too. I always been a Chinese food guy only just started eating Thai food. Its very similar and just as good or better then the chinese. Prices are reasonable and seems good value for what u get. They also have a lunch buffet on the weekdays but i never tried it yet. Maybe we didn't order their best dish. The wonton soup we had today was the saltiest we ever had in our lives. The basil fry rice...all the broccoli pieces were not cooked. They are as rigid as un-cooked salad. The only fine dish we had was the Panang curry. The problem is its price. Basil fry rice + Panang curry + wonton soup (small bowl) was over $26 after tax. and of course hit $30 after tip. My wife and I came here the other night because we were sick of the sub par thai food in Covington. The atmosphere was nice and the waitress was a very friendly Asian girl. We ordered fresh spring rolls (which ended up having meat, which is too bad since my wife's vegetarian), they were tasty and had a really good peanut sauce and sweet and sour type of sauce that came with them. I ordered pad see ew thai hot, which came out with absolutely NO spice, so I flagged down the waitress and she took my dish back to kitchen and had it respiced with no problem. My wife ordered a vegetable stir fry and it was fairly spicy and came with rice on the side. The diet coke also was brought out by the can, which honestly I was worried about about since I always drink more than one can at a time and I didn't want to be charged for all of them, but despite ordering three cans total, I was only charged one price! I've never ordered something that I regretted, and they are accommodating with adjusting the order to match your tastes. Be sure to order a Thai Tea with whatever you order. I stopped in Thai pepper today for lunch after passing by it several times. I was excited to have my favorite Tom yum goong soup with a Thai iced coffee. I ordered a bowl of Tom yum shrimp spices and the garlic chicken and super sad to find out that they don't serve Thai iced coffee. When my soup arrived, I was a little worried because the broth was red/brown, which I believe is the northern Thai way of making the soup with chili paste, however, once I tasted it, I was even more disappointed. The broth tasted like vegetable soup. There were none of the traditional aromatics in the soup; keffir lime leaves, galangal, lemongrass, lime juice or Thai chillis. I really feel like they gave me the wrong soup. Let's hope that was the case. I took my chicken to go and ate it later in the day. It was decent, however, once you've had authentic Thai food in Thailand, it's hard to find anything that compare..
