Food was fresh and delicious. As a Thai native it is slightly different from my mom's cooking but the garlic chicken and drunken noodles were fantastic. The Massaman was good but alittle too sweet for my liking. The chicken satay and Nam tok was excellent. The waitress was friendly and attentive. We ordered carry out from here tonight. The Pad Thai was lack luster and had very little flavor. Beef and broccoli was okay but the sauce was extremely thin and runny. The kicker was I gave the lady a very generous tip and then I asked if there was soy sauce in the bag. She stated there was not. I asked if I could get soy sauce for 4 dinners and we were given enough soy for 1 person. My husband asked if we could please get more soy and was told they are a small family business and soy sauce was too expensive and we would need to pay extra for it. Easily the worst Thai food I have ever had. The Tom Yum soup tasted like spicy vinegar. No mushrooms, no lemongrass, no vegetables, no complexity. The west Tom yum I have ever had. The beef laarb salad was also mediocre. When the server asked Joe everything was, I usually just say good buy this was meal was so bad, I had to break my silence and express my disappointment. They came up with such excuses like they just got back from vacation at 2am that they just cooked everything to they just got back from vacation that this was old food saved from before the vacation. I asked them why they would serve food they knew was sub par and they said this was real Thai food. I informed the server that I have had real Thai food and this was not it. I asked if this is what they eat at home and she again said this was authentic. She said she was sorry that I did not like my meal. Never apologized for the gross dinner I had to eat. And I had to eat it because I can't afford to just throw my expensive dinner away. Middle of the road food quality. I am admittedly spoiled about Thai quisine as I have been fortunate to have had the best. The food was good but didn't wow me and the various curries (Penang and mussaman) were pretty similar and included many of the same ingredients. The service was nice. Small mom and pop shop owned by a Thai family. They play old Thai music, atmosphere is chill and not as overwhelming. My family and I went around 5pm so there wasn't that big of a crowd until 5:30 when folks started coming in for dinner. Let me tell you it was deeelicious! The menu has your basic Thai dishes you would get at other many Thai restaurants but there were some stuff they didn't have due to lack of access to ingredients in the area. Service may seem slow to most people who are trying to get in and out. Mind you its (what I assume) just the family and a few non-family staff in the kitchen, who are running the show. The Tom Yum soup has quite a kick and even when our mouths are burning from the spice, we can't help but devour the whole cup. My personal favorite dish is the drunken/basil Thai noodles. The owner is also super friendly and really generous in giving great local recommendations and tips on avoiding crowds in the area during busy seasons if you're so inclined. We came in on the Sunday of 4th of July weekend and it wasn't busy at all. Our server was very friendly. All 3 of us are vegan and he reassured us that they would be able to accommodate us. I was pleasantly surprised since a lot of restaurants can't seem to grasp the concept of what a true vegan is. I like my food extra spicy and he even brought out extra spices and sauces on the side (I didn't even ask for them). Kudos to Thai Palace for the excellent customer service. I really hate to give a Mom and Pop style restaurant a low rating. One the greeter is a guy with an attitude that shows he does not want to be there. The Sweet and Sour chicken. Was bland like it came from a can. The only way that I could tell it was cooked because it had a piece of onion peel in it. NO taste and the pineapple definitely was from a can. Pad Thai was amazing as usual and also tried their Red Curry Thai spice for heat and it was delicious. Ok. Why am I knocking down a star? As a restaurant owner I feel that these days, good food only won't cut it. You need cleanliness, you need service, to need to do something to stand out. Unfortunate this place doesn't.
