Crab Pop Roll. (-1 piece because someone couldn't wait for a pic)

Great sushi!! Great prices. Amazed that a sushi place this good is located in such a small town. Definitely will come back when we are in the area. Food came out very quickly. Very nice people running the place.

    Miso soup

Great addition to Townsend! Cozy place, fresh hot food. Miso had a good flavor, Dragon Roll was on point. Tempura was super fresh and piping hot. Fantastic meal!

There's also outdoor seating but we didn't opt for that due to ducks roaming around outside. We went for lunch one day and came back for dinner another day making it two different experiences. The first day we they mentioned they're out of papaya salad so we opt for beef jerky, pad Thai chicken, tom yum beef fried rice, and a pork & crab dry noodles. It's def on the pricey side and there is 18% gratuity already added! Good experience for lunch. We came back for dinner another night Ordered thai ice tea which was good! Ordered a shrimp pad Thai which is good as well however their pad Thai aren't consistently flavored. I guess it all depends on which protein one orders but based on all my Thai places experiences, it should be consistent no matter the protein. Anyways. I ordered glass noodles with beef and it was a bit bland I added some papaya salad sauce and it spiced it up more and better flavored. This time they did have papaya salad and it was good! My husband ordered the beef green curry. It took a while to come out probably because it was slightly hectic. It wasn't cooked as thoroughly as it should but overall the taste was ok. Rice was slightly undercooked but we didn't fuss. Overall, a good Thai experience in a place where Asian food isn't prevalent! Definitely a must try!

Waiter was spot on - tended to us quickly to get our drinks. He came and took our order and food came out fairly quickly. The vegetable tempura was great - not greasy and this one had broccoli and eggplant (I dont like eggplants but I am sure someone will.appreciate this). Fried rice - even though it was kids, it was fantastic. It was not oil soaked and the flavor was so clean. Even my picky husband said it taste so good! Rice was not mushy.. it was, excellent! The Chow Hor Fun? I wont lie... I disnt have high hopes as a restaurant in the Carolinas. Boy was I wrong! The noodles were al dente, beautiful mix of all the veggies and protein. Sauce was a little sweet for my taste, so I was able to request for some chilli sauce and was all good. Also, not greasy. I was happy. My husband got the tuna sushi nigiri, tuna roll, salmon nigiri and white tuna. It was really good! Everything was bright and did not smell fishy. Last note - portions are freakin HUGE! Like i ate a third and took the rest' and the container was full. My daighters "kids" fried rice was packed to the brim. Expect left overs, u less your a competitive eater. The price, value and quality, this was def a 5 star - our first and only in our vacation here. Highly recommend - speaking as a Chinese vacationing in the carolinas that was getting desperate for any semblance of chinese food

While I do wish to acknowledge that Watami Sushi And Noodles does have the absolute legal right to deny anyone service; the staff of Watami Sushi And Noodles does not have the legal right to discriminate against anyone and violate anyone's Civil Rights on the basis of race, religion, and/or creed. Around 1:15 p.m. on  Wednesday, May 13, 2026, I entered Watami Sushi And Noodles on 33 South Main Street, Waynesville, North Carolina with the only goal of having lunch. When the hostess saw me, she had a look of absolute shock terror on her face and instead of greeting me with a "Hello" or "Welcome," she immediately tried to get me to just get take out only.  Only after repeatedly stating several times that I didn't want to order take out and that I wanted to dine there, she waved to a host/server who took one look at me and loudly said "OH" before seating me at a small table in the middle of the establishment.  Please note, there were other diners there. None of the staff was friendly or welcoming and rebuffed my attempts at conversation.  The waitress had an angry expression and tone with me, but not with other patrons in the restaurant. I ordered Chicken Teriyaki with a Green Salad and a side of Miso Soup.  Both the Miso Soup and Chicken Teriyaki were lukewarm, boarding on cold.  The Green Salad was crisp and fresh.  I didn't get a chance to finish to soup or the salad because it was taken away post haste once my lunch order had arrived. Now why did the staff of Watami Sushi And Noodles act they way they did when I entered their establishment. Well, this is just my opinion, based on their actions:  they didn't welcome or want an observant Jew who was wearing a yamicha, along with business casual clothes, in their establishment. ZERO STARS.

We also had the drunken noodles and the spicy chicken steamed buns. I will say that the portions feel small for the apps and buns. Entrées are filling. There are several nearby lots also pay-to-park but some may be free on weekends. Kaizen appears to me to be more akin to an Izakaya than a noodle hosue, where you basically go for drinks and they supply some food to keep things going - it has a more expansive menu than an Izakaya (which tends to be yakitori and sushi) - Kaizen's menu features several noodle dishes which all looked very interesting. We started with the appetizers and ordered some mixed steamed buns and soup. All of the buns that I tried I liked quite a bit - some strong, distinctive flavors. For an entree I ordered the Koji-Cured Ribeye medium-rare - 12 oz sliced ribeye, gai lan, broad bean paste, steamed rice. The steak was cooked perfectly. The service was exceptional - the next night we tried Fin-Two Japanese Ale House across the street - this restaurant was my preference - the flavors seemed more authentic and the quality of the dishes better in my opinion.
