I was feeling adventurous and decided to try this place with a friend. The restaurant itself looks really clean and has a rather cute aesthetic- the open kitchen is a nice touch, though with the complaints of heat from a table that ditched before ordering, I wonder if the layout may have negatively affected their HVAC. Didn't really bug me though, my table was fine.
Moving onto food, I ordered a mild mixed vegetable Tom yum soup, a shrimp pad Thai, and a chicken pineapple fried rice. The Tom yum soup was great. I appreciated how it really was mild, though it was still a bit too spicy for my friend (it's fine, he told me his spice tolerance is around a 3/10, and we only ordered a "less spicy" Tom yum). It was otherwise pleasantly tangy and it was nice to have that flavour profile without the burning sensation or the heavy breathing.
I was however somewhat disappointed with the Pad Thai and pineapple fried rice. Sadly, the noodles on the pad Thai seemed somewhat under seasoned, I didn't really taste much of the tamarind, and while they did get the texture right, they unfortunately also slightly overcooked the shrimp.
The pineapple rice again was okay. It was adequately seasoned, but sadly the chicken let them down again, for it was also overcooked.
The service however was friendly and helpful, and I may consider coming back again and giving them another shot. Hopefully it just happened to be a spot of bad luck. read more
