It is a Japanese and Chinese fusion restaurant, I didn't know what to expect but it was an okay experience. We ordered: Fried soft shell crab roll with rice paper wrapping: This is basically a spider roll without the Nori seaweed wrapping. It had large pieces of crab in it and fried perfectly. Vegetable dumplings: I actually enjoyed this. It was quite large (American sized!) and had finely chopped vegetables in it. Sushi set: This was my least favorite of the items we ordered. I didn't feel like the salmon was that fresh, the amaebi did t have a fried shrimp head (it was grilled so it wasn't crunchy) and hamachi was just okay. Service wasn't bad but I can totally see how they can overlook those who are sitting at the bars or in our case facing outside the restaurant.

My four star rating is based on the following: Food: 5 stars Environment/service: 3 stars Value: 4 stars Recommendations: the original Chao Chao gyoza As the name states they specialize in gyoza and have little else on the menu. They offer all types of gyoza fillings and the number of varieties is quite impressive. They do offer some noodle options for their lunch set so you can have a real meal here if you like but what you want to order are the dumplings. The gyozas here are very good. There is a nice crispness to the skin and the meat to wrapper ratio is well balanced. I've come here a number of times for a quick and delicious snack.

I had visited with a large group of friends with discerning tastes, so it was anyone's guess how the experience would pan out. Overall, the food was on point. The sashimi was fresh, grilled skewers were perfectly seasoned and cooked just right, and there was just enough variety to keep us interested throughout the meal. But what impressed me most was the service. We were given a brief idea of what to expect in terms of courses, but our server paid special attention to food preferences and was able to make changes to our dining experience accordingly. Everyone was just friendly and attentive without being intrusive--which can be a very fine line considering the size of most restaurants in Hong Kong.

Typical Chiu Chow fare with my favorites such as the Deep Fried Shrimp and Crab Balls, Chuen Jiu Chicken, Sweet and Sour Panfried Noodles, Soy Marinated Goose. Second visit, came with some of my parents' friends... this time, the experience was a bit different. The owner tried to upsell everything, suggested off-menu items and then charging exorbitantly. Even when my mom said to hold off on the oyster porridge, he brought it. When she told him she wasn't ready for that and said she told him specifically that she was going to only order it when she wanted it at the end, his response? Well it's already here. The upselling left a bad taste in our mouths. The food was decent, but beware of the heavy push on dishes and items you're not totally aware of and be hit with a crazy check at the end. Therefore, always ask for a la carte portions or "lai pai" even if they tell you it isn't enough for the table. You can always order more later. 3-stars for the food, 2 for the experience. (2 and 1/2 stars, am being generous considering the poor business tactics).

With a name such as Full House, got me curious, later found out that they serve traditional Chinese dishes and also Dim Sum for lunch, since we are not too hungry we thought we would stick with Dim Sum. To my pleasant surprise, their quality is very good! I especially like their Sui Mai ( Shrimp & Pork Dumplings ). Another dish worth mentioning is their Chilled Okra with Sesame Dressing, very refreshing indeed. The place is not big and has a second level, I will for sure come back to try out other dishes when I am in the part of town again!

Let's face it, HK is an endless smorgasbord of food. The choices can be overwhelming so I am really glad that we were able to find this hidden gem amongst the sea of Japanese restaurants in HK. The buffet here is $188 or $300 HKD depending on if you chose the special dishes option. I really didn't think it was necessary as the regular menu had tons of options. We didn't even try half the menu as there was already so much food. I should mention here that this is not a typical buffet place, as you get a list (in Chinese and in English) of all the options and they prepare it for you on the spot so that it's piping hot and delicious. All the fish was super fresh and the baked dishes were spectacular. I really loved the baked oysters and "one bite beef." I did wish that they had photos of the foods. However, waitresses are super nice and help give suggestions for their favorite things. They told me that people love to hang out there and drink unlimited beers and munch on snacks for hours. Sounds like a great time!
