They taste amazing and love them, but they've been too small, and the size they're at I don't think is worth $7.95, but if they made them bigger and able to get a couple of bites individually out of each one then they would be worth that price! I would also recommend that their chive dumplings be less oily and maybe a little thinner but other than that they tasted really good! I highly recommend happy Thaiand their staff really great place! Everyone was right as their khao soi did not disappoint. Their broth was so flavorful and completely hit the spot. My pleasant surprise at Nalak Thai though was their matcha selection. I ended up ordering a summer special item that was a southern peach matcha and oh my goodness it was soooo good! If you are a matcha fan I highly recommend their drinks as they are perfect in both the matcha color and taste. I thought that was odd. Even then it was better than my dish. So my husband, who has an higher spice tolerance than me, offered to swap dishes with me but even he could not handle it. It was spicy in a truly unenjoyable way. This sucks because I ordered a medium and they did not take that into account at all when making it. I had to do what I very rarely do--I asked if I could kindly send the dish back and I explained my issue. They were nice enough to let me order something different. We kept it simple - we started with the special fish dumplings (fish based dumpling around a pork/mushroom filling), the Yum Woon Sen and their house Drunken Shanghai noodles. My wife asked for mild, and j asked for medium on the spice levels The flavours were simply divine. The portions were perfectly sized in this era of gigantosaurus dishes and the service was helpful and friendly. The only possible negative comment was that my medium spicy was leaning toward the mild (ok - it was actually mild) side of the spectrum. That's certainly an issue that can be overcome - and is always better than falling on the other end of that spice spectrum where you risk having your face melt during the meal. The best authentic Chinese food I've had in years!…read more As we walked in, the decor was minimal, clean, cozy, and welcoming. We were promptly greeted and invited to seat ourselves wherever we liked; they were very kind and it felt like I was visiting family. Everything we ordered was amazing. The last authentic Chinese meal that could compare was probably in Taiwan many years ago. We ordered the shredded pork (with peppers, which gave it a nice kick), wonton soup (flavorful and clean), mapo tofu (so much flavor - especially the sauce), water spinach, and pan-fried mini pork buns. Service was wonderful from start to finish. They even packed up our leftovers for us. I definitely plan to bring my family here the next time they visit Virginia, as they are huge foodies when it comes to authentic Chinese cuisine.

Our only issue was with the only other table of diners - they were very loud talkers and since the space is small, we had no choice but to hear their family dispute about wedding attire, tailors and whatnot!
