Beef green curry

Thai Lotus - a nondescript small restaurant tucked away in a strip mall in North Brunswick offers these vibrant selection of traditional Thai dishes ranging from fragrant, herb-laden soups to crispy red snapper filets paired with a mild-spicy mango sauce, a creamy, coconut-based green curry beef (cooked to your level of spice; mine is always level 4) and a decadent dessert named FBI (fried banana with ice cream).

Vegetables Dumping Finished in a Manchurian Sauce & Vegetable Spring Roll

Absolutely delicious Thai food! This was my first time ordering from Thai Lotus and I most certainly will be back. I can confidently say these are the best vegetable spring rolls I have ever had from a delivery or take out restaurant -- thin, crispy & delicious with an absolutely savory & thick flavorful dipping sauce. The vegetable dumplings in Manchurian sauce were extremely spicy, flavorful & filling! Enough that I have dinner for tomorrow as well. The dumplings were shaped like meatballs and packed a very flavorful punch. Thai Lotus absolutely outdid itself and I will be ordering from here again!

I've visited this restaurant twice for dine-in and once for takeout, and each time has been a unique experience. The ambiance is simple, elegant, and gives the feeling that they've brought a mini Thailand right here. It's a cozy and inviting place that makes for a great dining experience. First Visit: It was just the two of us, and we kept it simple with two entrées and a glass of wine. We ordered the Chef's Special Black Pepper Fish (Very Hot) and the Veg Red Curry (Very Hot)--both were absolutely delicious! The Black Pepper Fish, made with Tilapia, was perfectly cooked and packed with bold flavors. The Veg Red Curry was outstanding--despite its name, it had a yellowish hue, likely due to the coconut gravy. Second Visit: This time, I brought my family, who have some complex dietary restrictions. Moosa, the one who seated us and helped take our order, was very friendly, polite, and amazingly pleasing. He was incredibly accommodating, courteous, and willing to customize our orders to suit our needs--his hospitality was truly commendable! We ordered: Veg Curry (Mild, No Onion, No Garlic) Tom Hak Chicken Soup (Very Hot) Corn Soup (Medium Hot) Chef's Special Black Pepper Fish (Very Hot) Garlic Chili Rice (Medium Hot) Veg Red Curry (Hot) The food was fantastic again, but there was a small hiccup--Moosa doesn't write down orders, relying on memory, which led to a mix-up. My Black Pepper Fish, which I specifically requested to be Very Hot, arrived Mild. Surprisingly, even at a lower spice level, it was still flavorful and enjoyable! To top it off, we tried their Fried Ice Cream, which was a nice treat. Takeout Experience: I placed my order in the afternoon for a 6 PM pickup, but it seemed like the food was prepared immediately after I ordered. By the time I picked it up, the dishes were cold--which was disappointing. I had ordered the Black Pepper Fish and Red Curry with Chicken and Fish, and while the flavors were still good, the freshness was lacking. Final Thoughts: This restaurant serves amazing food with authentic flavors, and the hospitality--especially from Moosa--is excellent. However, order accuracy and timing can be inconsistent, so it's best to double-check your order--especially for spice levels and pickup timing. If they improve on these small issues, this place would be flawless! Would I go back? Absolutely! Just with a little extra attention to ensure my order is exactly how I want it. Outstanding food, warm hospitality, minor service hiccups.

I met up with some friends at this spot due to its central location. The ambiance was very quiet, even for a weeknight; we were the only ones dining inside. The menu is very similar to most Thai restaurants but offers the additional factor of being halal. I ordered the Red Curry with chicken, my go-to at most Thai places. Our food came out in about 20 minutes. Presentation was appealing, and portions were generous. We all tried each other's entree outside of our main meals. My Red Curry had had solid flavor and quality; it was definitely comparable to red curries I've enjoyed at other Thai restaurants. The Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) and Massaman Curry stood out amongst the other dishes. Service was consistent throughout our visit. Most Thai spots I try rank within a similar range to each other, so it can be hard pick a favorite. I'd say this spot hits the mark; I was decently satisfied with most aspects of our visit. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here specifically, but I'd stop by if I was in the area again.

The tom kai hai soup is the best! Good service too. They focus on the details you tell them. The restaurant is clean, well decorated.

My husband and I ordered dinner from here through Uber Eats on this rainy Sunday evening and we were so disappointed. Nothing like looking forward to a meal and then not even being able to enjoy yet. We got a Chicken Pad see ew and a shrimp Pad Thai. Neither dish had ANY flavor whatsoever. My husband, who isn't picky, says his meal was bland and tasteless. The Pad Thai I had tasted like boiled noodles with eggs and peanuts and the tiniest shrimp I have ever seen in my life! It was also super dry. What a crime! Lesson learned.

Top L to R: Papaya Salad, Spring Rolls, Pad See Ew, Massaman Curry. Not pictured: Red Curry.

Was craving some thai food as I didn't have a chance to get it earlier on in the shutdown. Unfortunately, both of the spots closest to me were closed... one for the holidays and the other permanently. I discovered this place as one that wasn't too far away from me so I decided to takeout from here. Placed an order on a Friday evening. Took about 45 minutes to receive the order, which isn't surprising, but a bit longer. At the same time, I noticed a lot of people ordering large orders so that's just a case of the weekends to me. We ordered a potpourri of items: Spring Rolls, Papaya Salad (mild spice), Red Curry (with veggies and tofu), Massaman Curry (with veggies and tofu), and Pad See Ew (veggies). For one, the portion size was pretty awesome. Definitely more than plenty for a family of 4 and then some for leftovers. The food itself tasted great - the perfect level of spice and flavor. We were given a generous portion of veggies and tofu - especially with the curry. They did good with the ratio of veggies to curry and veggies to noodles. It was very filling. This place may end up becoming our go-to Thai spot sooner than later. Highly recommend.

Loved the pineapple fried rice!! Past the presentation, it was delicious and so was the drunken noodles. Service was great. The inside has cute umbrellas hanging from the ceiling and nice comfortable seating as well. Great for families or even date nights.

Thai Lotus update - I'm so pleased to share this update on a fantastic restaurant. The food, service an ambiance hasn't wavered. It's still amazing! The owner and his team are so welcoming, you'll feel right at home. However, the food is like dining in a Michelin-star restaurant. This restaurant is worth traveling too so I look forward to seeing all my Yelper friends here soon.

Thai Iced Tea

We've been here twice and great meals both times. Our server, Moses, was very friendly and helpful with the menu. He suggested Massaman Curry and we loved it! Start with Thai Iced Teas and the Tom Kai soup which I ordered medium and was a little spicier than I like but I asked for that! Still delicious with lots of chicken and vegetables in it. My wife doesn't eat beef or pork and we wanted something different so we tried the Garlic Shrip. Fantastic! Perfectly grilled on a bird's nest bed with pad Thai noodles in the side. To round out off we had Pad See Ew noodles with shrimp. Very tasty with Chinese broccoli and green onions. Definitely recommend you try this place. But go early on Saturday night since it gets crowded after 8:30pm.

For a few years, I've been curious about how the food was here at The Rose. Unfortunately, with no…read moretakeout available until fairly recently, I hadn't bothered to venture here. But with that said, my girl wanted some Indo Chinese.... so we made the trip here to see whether it's worth a second visit. Now, to be clear: the Rose is a Pan Asian Cuisine. So it's not necessarily just Indo Chinese, but it also encompasses flavors from all the other countries too. We ended up ordering 3 items in the following order: 1a: Gobi Manchurian 1b: Smoked Vegetable Sizzler 2: Mushroom Sautéed in Ginger Garlic We ordered the first two together and those arrived relatively quickly. The Gobi Manchurian was the better of the two, but I wonder if it was a bit too overpowered with spice and less of the sweet and sour taste (or even the soy sauce). The spice was a bit too overbearing. The sizzler was fine, but it was mostly onions and peppers. The tofu - while cooked fine - surprised me because it was like the silky ma po tofu (which coincidentally is what they serve here). In other words, the same tofu is repeated across multiple meals. I think the tofu needed to be pan fried at least for a sizzler. Because of the above, we didn't feel full and thought that the mushroom would provide a different taste pallet. Unfortunately, that was a miss as the mushroom had the same taste as the gobi manchurian, when it should've been infused with the ginger garlic. Additionally, the mushroom was way too overcooked so you couldn't even taste them either. It was like a crunchy mushroom. No good. To make things worse, the waiter, who also manned the front desk, seemed a bit too aloof at times. Often that meant not refilling water unless prompted and not providing the check on time or not even setting up the tables properly with silverware. It was a bit disappointing. This place has the potential, especially with the cute decor. But failed execution with the food and some lackluster service do not make this a place I'd recommend in the future.

We were seated very quickly, thankfully, and the ambiance of the restaurant was inviting and elevated. The menu looked fantastic at first glance so we were excited, and our expectations were exceeded. We shared the Veg Bao, Chili Paneer, Hakka Noodles, and Veg Manchurian with gravy (served with rice). All dishes were sooo so delicious - perfect level of spice, lots of garlic and onion flavor, huge portions. The parents were trying to figure out what to order, and asked our server for recommendations - he suggested something called the "Triple Schezuan" which was a combination of rice, noodles, spicy sauce, manchurian pieces, and more. They RAVED about this dish - the portion was also massive! Service was wonderfully attentive and best of all they don't use any cilantro in their food! Hallelujah! Highly recommend this underrated spot.

The standout for me was the Jiang Bei Hot Sauce Live Whole Fish, which was packed with flavor and absolutely worth ordering. You can split this dish amongst a whole family since the portions are huge! The General Tso's Chicken is always a classic, and I love the tender chicken drenched in tangy sauce. This is where things got a little tricky. We had a reservation but ended up waiting about 40 minutes past our reservation time to actually be seated. On a busy weekend, I understand restaurants can get slammed, but waiting 40 minutes after having a reservation is frustrating. It seems like their weekend reservation situation can get a little chaotic, so just be prepared to practice your patience. Once we were seated, the staff was fine and the service was efficient. Overall, I'll return for the food or get takeout but just be prepared to wait a bit.
