I felt inclined to advise those who rate this place low because they "aren't open". Do what you must, but know that this was the BEST Thai spot in all of Tampa. Sorry you didn't have the opportunity to eat this amazing Thai food. All of their sauces were made from scratch and the food was always made to order... so fresh and delicious! This spot was friendly to meat eaters and vegans alike with separate menus. Thankfully, I found this place during my vegan transition period and became a lunch regular toward the last few months of them closing. This was a family owned establishment that withstood and traversed the nuances of COVID. I was grateful to have been blessed with having partaken in this delicious food. Unfortunately, around the time of the back-to-back hurricanes of 2024, their head chef (and head of the family), passed away suddenly. This led the wife and son to make a hard decision to close the restaurant. Please make your way to their facebook page and read the entire post. To my understanding they are selling the restaurant, including their recipes. Their curries and sauce blends beats any competitor selling Thai in the area, without a doubt - coming from someone of Southeast Asian descent and being exposed to the flavors of different Southeast Asian cultures my whole life. While others are watered down, they had a nice, thick coconut milky consistentcy with theirs... aromatic and flavorful, I miss this place SO MUCH. They probably haven't had an opportunity to close their Yelp account, ya know - being that the head chef just passed away, so I hope fellow reviewers read this post before commenting negatively. To each his own and it is what it is. Blessings to you all during the holiday season. read more

This is a true mom and pop place that really needs your support. They have been in Brandon for a long time and the locals love them. My fav dish is Ladna with wide noodle and thick sauce. Their food can be very spicy so please be careful with the spicy scale but for spicy lovers, this is awesome. Now they have switched to the self-serve model to cut down the cost so this is something you might wanna keep in mind when visiting. read more

Food: panang curry was exceptionally good. Thick sauce. Tons of chicken. Fried rice had good flavor. Wish there were less broccoli and onions but flavor wise it was so good. Thai heat was perfect. Chicken wings SO GOOD. Crispy and full flavor. Service: weird. No table service and when they are busy it gets frantic. You have to scrape your own plates and bus your own table. If one customer has an issue it throws the order taking and fulfillment out of wack. No issues but one customer had no idea how to eat Thai food. This threw everything off. Ambiance: meh but Thai restaurants aren't know. For ambiance so it wasn't a thing. The reason I did not give 5 stars is because of the confusing way to order and clear your table. read more

We were in the area to pick up an item we bought online. We saw the reviews and decided to try this place for dinner. When you enter the restaurant you are greeted by the host behind a table asking us to come up and get the menus and pick up a tray with silverware and ice filled glasses. She then instructed us to sit anywhere and come back to place our order. The menu is a large two sided sheet that has your favorite thai dishes. My wife chose the chicken Pad Thai and I selected the Cashew Chicken. The portions were enormous compared to what we see from the Thai restaurants in our area. The quality of the food was also superb! We ate a lot of the two dishes but still had plenty to take home. The price was also better than our usual thai spots. We just wish this place was closer to us! We will be sure to hit this place up when in the area. read more

The owner PREEDA was so Happy to take care of us. She and her staff was very attentive on service and the reason we came here was the GREAT 5 star reviews on food and service. First we ordered the Thai Tea & Thai coffee, delicious. Then onto the Papaya salad with sticky rice and the fried chicken. What a great combination. Order 2 soup one Beef noodle soup with meat balls. The pork was YummY very flavorful and hot. By the way we drove 13-1/2 hours from Cincinnati OH just to Come here. Thanks again for great cozy ambience. 5 stars will be back. read more

Warning! Their spicy scale is the same as Thailand - that is, if you order medium spicy you will get mouth-burning spicy. Anyway, everything is self serve at the counter. And the owner makes you get your food and bus your own table. The 1 thing she comes to the table for is to give you the check! Food is very good though. read more

Thai Legacy is our favorite restaurant. It's the place you go for dinner on a weeknight, a date on a Saturday, and to celebrate life events with all your friends and family. The separate vegan menu makes it so easy for our family to order, no endless questions. The regular menu is available for our non-vegan family members. Normally I am not one to post a bad review but I'm just purely disappointed. The sticky mango dessert that I ordered looked NOTHING like advertised on their website. It's not like this dessert is $4, it's $8.50, practically the price of another meal. The expectation vs reality is just too disappointing. What made it worst was the lack of understanding from the waiter. There was no, "let me get a manager" or "let me see what I can do". I'm just lost at words. For future patrons, either don't check out their website's gallery before you order so you're not disappointed or just not order their dessert. UPDATE: I would rather give this place a ZERO if I could. The owner lady came out and said that she only made the picture for advertisement purposes and not to serve her customers. Also, we are the only ones to complain. Now I'm even more lost for words. I would say, no matter how good the food is, I would rather go somewhere else where I'm treated right as a customer. read more

It was a warm spring day. I had been up for hours, delivering Uber Eats in the Tampa area; getting more hungry with every passing moment. What did I want? Tacos? No... an impossible burger? No. Thai food, I wanted Thai food. That's when I had a flashback to seeing a post on Tampa Vegans FB group about a precious little joint with a dedicated vegan menu. If only I could teleport to Brandon. It seemed so far away. After a quick pro/con analysis, I decided that I'd make the drive - I was worth it. I deserved it. It looks like your typical joint upon arrival, but what I didn't expect was the question: "would you like a vegan menu?" Heck yeah I do, what gave it away? A very large vegan menu it was. It's funny how getting so used to having only two options to choose from leaves you in a state of dismay when you have to choose from 50 options!! I went with the pad see ew - 10/10. The spring rolls were top notch too. But what made this experience was the customer service. Such sweet people that work there, warms my heart. This is also a very inexpensive place for the portion sizes. Did I finish my entire plate? Heck yeah. Did I immediately go to bed after? Heck yeah! Can't wait to come back for a lunch special! read more

Pros: we came here for lunch.. it's off a beaten path and next to a laundry place. Nice thing about this restaurant is they have a regular menu or a vegan menu.. The lunch options are 1) rice 2) noodles 3) curry serves with a spring roll and comes with unsweetened iced tea or their 3 other specialty sweetened iced tea.. The food was good, I'm giving 3 stars bc there are no meat entrees options rather lots of carbs options.. You can get a dinner menu instead.. Overall- food was good, minimal protein with their noodles and curry dishes.. Good place for vegans and vegetarians! Taste - 4 stars Protein amount - 2.5 stars (less than most Thai places) read more

10/10 experience. Food was incredible. Peedra is amazing and an incredible host. This is a family-owned restaurant and their Thai food is the real deal. Can't stress enough how fresh, tasty, and full of flavor everything was. Also tried Thai beer with Peedra's suggestion. Had the red curry (masaman was sold out), pad see ew, and shrimp spring rolls. Visiting from out of town- and found this place on yelp, with good reviews, so we decided to stop by. Service was excellent, everyone was very friendly. I like how they have a vegan menu and a regular menu. Very thoughtful! I ordered a Thai tea we coconut milk instead of half and half. Super delicious, and a lot lighter compared to when I've had it with half and half. For appetizer I had the summer rolls, the veggies were all super fresh and I liked their peanut sauce. Main course I ordered their pad Thai. I have not had pad Thai in forever, because most places use fish sauce. This place uses their own house made vegan pad Thai sauce. It was so good and hit the spot 100%. I could've done with more tofu and less bean sprouts, but now I'm just being picky The food and service were all so good, I'd definitely go back if I'm ever in the area! read more

This place has me absolutely starstruck. It is definitely a hole in the wall small restaurant next to a laundry mat but it has AMAZING thai food! The server is very nice and helpful and the woman that runs the place is very sweet and hand makes the black sticky rice pictured and even delivered it to our table and came by to ask how we liked it! I would whole heartedly recommend the green curry with eggplant. It comes with the best mushrooms, veggies, and meat of your choice. We also had the summer rolls, butterfly pea flower tea, prawn and chicken patty appetizer, and the yellow curry. You can even tell them how mild or spicy you would like your food. Every aspect of the meal was delicious. They even had bottles of hand sanitizer on each table! The place is very clean, friendly, and suitable for any occasion! read more

This was my first visit to Thai Legacy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The interior is very clean and beautifully decorated. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. They have a separate vegan menu and the Thai tea with coconut milk was new to me. I thoroughly enjoyed it even more than traditional Thai tea. It's lighter and slightly less sweet. Will definitely get it next time. We had the vegetarian spring rolls as an appetizer they were light and crispy with a flavorful sauce. The Legacy stir fry beef was delicious, slightly spicy and generous portion, which provided lunch for two more meals. I will definitely be back to Thai Legacy. read more

It's time to update my review since I wrote it back in 2017 (when they first opened). It's still 5 stars. Wish I could give it more after multiple visits and takeout orders. This is my favorite Thai restaurant. I love that they have a separate vegan menu with way more choices than any other restaurant. I'm not vegan, but I like the option and have found many wonderful items such as the eggplant basil stir fry, veggie spring rolls, and vegetable noodle soup. Everything they make is homemade including the sauces. There are no store bought sauces with added preservatives. They cook healthy and with lots of fresh veggies even in the regular menu items. They also don't skimp on the heat level. If you ask for it, you'll get it at whatever level you want. My husband won't go anywhere else but this place for Thai food. He's a Texan who loves spicy food. He gets his beef basil stir fry in Thai hot and absolutely loves it. He was actually the first person to recommend this restaurant to me. He happened to go there during one of my hospital visits. He said Preeda warned him of the spice level, and apparently was even impressed that he ate it all with no complaints. I asked him if it was Thai Boat. The previous restaurant that occupied that space (which was also good). He corrected me and said that it's under new ownership and called Thai Legacy. We've been going ever since that time along with my mother. We've been to all the other Thai restaurants in the area. They are all unique in their own way. I just like this one the best because of the variety. I've come to appreciate it even more after my recent visit to the Thai temple. I was drawn to the noodle soup and the flower teas at their Sunday market. I was craving that soup during the week so I pulled up the Thai Legacy menu and noticed that they have many variations of this soup on their menu. So far, I've had the pork noodle soup and the veggie one with tofu. The pork noodle soup has 4 different noodle options (small rice noodles, large rice noodles, yellow egg noodles, or clear bean noodles) and the veggie one has 3 types (no egg noodles). I got the clear bean noodles and asked for the spice tray on the side so that I could add my own heat. The takeout soup orders come with chili pepper spice, paste, and pickled jalapenos. It's a huge portion that can definitely be 2 meals or split between 2 people. It was so good, and reminded me of my morning at the Sunday market. It so comforting and I'm so happy that I can get it Tuesday thru Sunday when needed. I was also happy to see that they are now serving exotic iced teas such as Roselle Hibiscus, Butterfly Pea Flower, and Lemongrass tea. I've had the first 2 teas and they are refreshing. It's unlimited refills during lunch. This restaurant gets better and better each time. It's a wonderful and hard-working family that owns it. They cook with love and health in mind. The service is always friendly and welcoming. They remember us every time we come in (especially my mother). We'll continue to return often. read more

I am here because of Johnathan review that they really put out a good Thai Hot restaurant. There is no hold back. So if you ask for spicy, watch out. There is no American Hot. The restaurant has good ratings. The interior is open seating hall that most efficiently for maximum seats. The owner pay attention to the customers. And the wait staff is alert enough. They have extensive menu for your choice. We got the Drunken Noodle and the Lad Na Noodle. The drunken noodle is a bit wet. I like it dryer. But they did a Thai Hot for me. The spicy of the chili extended to my throats. The spiciness stay at my mount at least good 7 minutes. The Lad Na noodle is crispy noodle with beef. Food is good. We also got the stuff chicken wing. This is a dish that not normally serve. This actually the best dish. Like the staffing with pork. read more

Family owned and operated with kindness and integrity. Best Thai food in Tampa, hands down. I've eaten drunken noodles 100 times over at different places and this was by far the best. I usually need the Thai spicy tray to add seasonings, but it was completely unnecessary here. Also, if the awesome waitress gives you a recommendation...TAKE IT! She knows what she's talking about! She recommended the fried prawns in tamarind sauce and I was super hesitant but it was outstanding and completely unexpected. FYI- they have a vegan menu and a regular one. read more

Authentic authentic authentic! Highly recommend this place. They have the traditional Thai teas plus exotic teas, hibiscus, lemongrass, and one other (forgot worry's!) For appetizers we had the calamari which was paired house made dipping sauce (delishh), and dumpling w/ pork shrimp fillings topped w/ fries garlic and paired dark soy sauce. Our main courses consisted of beef noodle soup (extra large portion I may add) and chicken fried legacy rice. Both were extremely flavorful!!! I was traumatized once on Thai hot so I got regular hot and babyyyy bout knocked me out so I've learned to just order mild hahaha. Wait staff was so sweet and welcoming. Tried the stuffed chicken wings and Panang curry this time.... The stuffed chicken wings were a definite no go. Never heard of something like this...especially at a Thai place so we were dying to try it. Plus this item had good reviews. First off, they took forever to make and when it finally came out, it was just barely cooked. I don't know what it's stuffed with, but it was squishy on the inside and too much fried outer layering. Definitely disappointed with this item. The Panang curry on the other hand was 5/5! Thick coconut cream with sufficient amounts of chicken and veggies. Definitely what I expect a Panang dish to taste like. I would re-order and recommend the Panang curry but not the stuffed chicken wings! I got a Pad Thai entree and this was standard but a tad bit more dry than I'm used to. Big serving and lots of pork and tofu though. I also had a Thai tea again this time but it wasn't as sweet as last time and I saw chunks of cream floating atop so it wasn't blended all the way through. But still enjoyable and I finished it. I don't know what it was (maybe because it's Sunday and we were the only customers at the time), but I definitely enjoyed my first visit here more so than today's. Still exceptional service from the sweet lady who owns the place and the rice chips/prawn sauce alwaysw on point! I'd definitely be back for either the Red curry, Panang curry, or Drunken noodles as those menu items are still really good! read more

I will start by saying I love the pretty floral mural painting on the outside doors and glass. Very nice. The bathrooms and establishment are very clean. The spring rolls are good and the Pad Thai was not bad , but I personally prefer a peanut base sauce . The "Exotic Teas" I didn't care for. But rather water w/lemon....and I do not drink water , typically. Their "Self Service" requirement & the requirement to "Bus" your own table and pour your own "liquids and solids" into designated bin is absolutely ridiculous. Hell l, there was NOONE in the restaurant but my family of 5 on a Thursday afternoon at 2pm. The Owner/Server barely wanted to bring a to go bag for my leftovers to my table but preferred for me to get up and get it. As we're leaving , we had 2 glasses on the table and she asked us to dump the remaining beverage and place the glasses in the busing bin. AGAIN, THERE WAS NOONE ELSE THERE!!! You're better off to place an order for pickup and do the work yourself at your own home or work. Wasn't prepared to have to work at the restaurant on my lunch time. Hell.... Where was my tip for the work I had to do ?! Unfortunately, though the food is authentic, I won't be back due to their Self Service requirements. You expect this at Panera, McDonald's,Chick-Fil-a but not at a sit down family restaurant. Just a heads up read more

We decided to go eat here since they were open for dine in. The owner greeted us graciously as she always has before and seated us in the booth near the bathroom as they were social distancing the seating area. We were given menus and asked for our drink order. I can say, that's how the rest of the evening went because they never came back to get our order. Mind you, there were only 2 other guests dining in and the ones that came after us got their order in before us. I don't know if she couldn't see us or just plainly forget about us but we waited there for 20 minutes before we left because the owner was either tending to the other guests or taking a to go order on the phone. We've always wanted to love Thai Legacy since they took over our previous Thai restaurant there before but every time, it has been a miss and this time, we just could not ignore it anymore. On our way back from a short trip to Plant City, I wanted something "vegan" for lunch. I turned to my handy-dandy Yelp app and searched for something that would satisfy my craving, and boom, there they popped up. My friend and I both loving Thai food, decided to make the trip over on our way back home to Tampa. We stopped in and were greeted right away by the sweetest lady who asked if we would like a "meat menu" or "no meat menu", and of course we chose the vegan menu. To my surprise, the vegan menu was a full size, front to back menu of some really great selections. Honestly, besides the food, the menu is what sold me on the place. I loved that I had so many things to choose from , and the fact that I basically had the same amount of choices as a "non vegan menu" if not more. You don't find that at too many restaurants these days. Ok, so back to the food. We ordered some Thai teas (also vegan) Pad Thai, Spring Rolls, and Sticky Black Rice and Mango. They started us off with some lite crispy sweet potato chips and a "secret sauce" that I feel you can literally put on anything. And I did and you should too if you go. The Pad Thai was amazing. It usually comes with tofu but I opted out. Not a tofu fan. But I honestly didn't miss it. It was perfectly dressed in a lite peanut sauce and with a dash of my lime, it was perfection. The spring roll was huge, and filled with all kind of good veggies and mint, and accompanied by a spicy peanut sauce. I was getting full and calling it quits when all of a sudden, My server (awesome server btw. So personable and attentive) offered us a sweet treat which is there black sticky rice and mango dessert. Being a "foodie", I was intrigued, and I said "yes" immediately after she described it. Because, why not?! "When in Rome!" Or in this case "When at Thai Legacy!" You guys... that black sticky rice.. with the fresh mango. Out of this world combo let me tell ya. The perfect amount of sweet and sticky, and a perfect way to end lunch at this new gem I found. From the friendly staff, to the excellent food, to the baby hand sanitizers on each and every table for your convenience and peace of mind, I truly enjoyed myself and will with out a doubt be back to try more. That Masaman Curry I saw on the menu is calling my name for my next visit. read more

We've had more misses than successes at this restaurant. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back. Despite the pleasantries, we were overlooked during our last visit though there weren't many customers and we quietly left the restaurant. During previous visits, we were able to try some of their food. Pad kaprow - they add an exaggerated amount of white onions to their pad kaprow. I have never seen a pad kaprow dish with onions let alone the amount of onions on it. They seemed to add it as a filler, completely killing the flavor of the holy basil. The pad kaprow receives 1/5 Drunken noodles - likely their best dish at the restaurant. It highlights the basil flavor and is deliciously spicy. 5/5 Pad Thai - pretty standard pad thai, though a bit dry. 3/5 Papaya salad - the best Thai-style papaya salad in Tampa bay without the crab paste. Very delicious. 5/5 read more
