I came too early for our escape room and it doesn't open till 2pm on Sunday. Thankfully, I found a…read moreplace that sells milkshakes a couple doors down. I went inside and saw the various ice creams they had. Looks to be Mexican ice cream as I also saw some Mexican (or Latino) snacks available too. They had an American and Mexican version of vanilla, and I asked about the difference. The attendant mentioned Mexican vanilla was sweeter, and offered me a sample. I immediately ordered the Mexican vanilla milkshake after tasting it. It was so sweet and had a festive flavor. They made the milkshake and it took some time as they made it frothy, added the chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and even a strawberry. It was an excellent shake that was easy to drink with the thick straw provided. The sweetness of the vanilla, the hint of chocolate from the syrup, and the light strawberry flavor at the end made it so enjoyable. It wasn't cheap as it was about 8.50 after tax for a small portion, but I think it was well worth it. The dining area is spacious with ample amount of seats to enjoy the snacks and shakes. There is also the one arm bandit for kids to gamb... Er... Play to maybe win a prize. The staff was focused on the preparations of the shakes and ice cream, but are very friendly and helpful. Honestly, I am so happy I came in early before the opening time of the escape room so I could enjoy a shake before playing. Maybe the sugar helped because I actually were able to help in the rooms today. Definitely coming back to enjoy another shake whenever I visit Plant City. Overall: A

La Michoacána located at 1818…read moreJames L Redman Pkwy is the newest, most unique sweet treat shop in the area and I couldn't be more excited to welcome them to my neck of the woods!!! Among many treats, Fern- the very pleasant manager, made me a strawberry agua fresca garnished with a heaping spoon full of fresh local strawberries!!! La Michoacána Traditicion Natural in Plant City is celebrating their grand opening this Saturday 3/6/21 and have several fun giveaways including free agua fresca to their first 100 customers!!! Perfect timing as Plant City starts celebrating all things strawberry this week for the Florida Strawberry Festival. In case you can't fit the festival into your schedule or are social distancing... you can enjoy the crowning jewel of PC right here at @lamichoacana.fl ... plenty of housemade paletas de leche (creamy popsicles), paletas de agua (fruit water pops), agua fresca (check out my video!) and fresca con crema - all prepared in a variety of flavors but you've got to get the strawberry! I enjoyed my first ever mangonada!!! The manager went over each step with me from first adding a thick coating of that savory/ tangy chamoy paste to the rim of the cup, then layering the inside of their cute signature barrel cup with chamoy sauce and Tajin, adding their homemade nondairy mango ice cream (more of a sorbet consistency), some more chamoy sauce, a few extra dashes of Tajin, a heaping scoop of fresh mangos finished with a traditional tamarind straw. The straw is a MUST with mangonadas - it's candy coated then rolled in chili powder. Sweet, smoky, tangy, adding a unique exotic quality to this Mexican style treat! Of course the last garnish and most important for any fancy drink/ treat is the paper umbrella!! They served their mangonadas as an iced treat you'd eat with a spoon and it is definitely shareable unless you're name is TampaFoodMom- I wasn't sharing my mangonada!!! Savory, tangy, cold, sweet- absolutely perfect!! Fun fact : Chamoy is a popular Mexican condiment, made with fruit, such as apricot, mango or plum, chilies and lime juice. Make sure you tell them TampaFoodMom sent you!!!

I'd been to the other one and this one was a couple years newer and I hadn't been to it, & it was closer. I like the wall booths all pretty and pink and it was pretty new inside. The service was nice. I did feel like there were less options of ice cream. I ended up getting a mangonada which was good. I was drinking / eating it for a while. My husband got a scoop of ice cream. This place is still quite nice and surely you can find something you like.

My favorites are meatloaf, sweet tea and there's only one other place I know of that has Mr. Pibb on fountain. Great people. Great history. Just today I had fried catfish. I skipped desert because the sweet potatoes were so awesome. And when you think it can't get any better- tomorrow, September 19th I'll be 59 years old and can't wait to see what kind of deals I can find at Fred's. I use to come here all the time when family lived in the area and upon driving through I HAD to stop in for lunch. The customer service here is great. Everyone is pleasant and the server made sure we understood the setup on home to get food and the cost. Our drinks were never empty here. The food is just fantastic. The kitchen does a great job on cooking and keeping everything on the buffet line stocked. Some of my favorites were the ribs, green beans, and fried chicken. The ribs were so tender and packed with flavor. The fried chicken had the perfect crispiness on the skin. The green beans were real southern fixed green beans. The desserts were great and my mom and I split 4 of them! Worth trying everything. Thank you for a great meal!
