The guy who is your waiter is hilarious, heavy accent, but still hilarious, very friendly and was proud that their place has been around since 1990, so they know their thai. yes, they do know their thai, but when I order panang curry, I want it to be SPICY. A level 5, which is the spiciest level, was like water... I asked for spices to make it spicy and it made it a level 1 for me. I ate all the little peppers in the fish sauce without the fish sauce. The portions were a little on the smaller side for what the price is, but I have to say that their panang curry to coconut milk ratio was good, It was bolder flavors and not too watered down with coconut milk, which annoys me if places do that. It's great because the customer service is so friendly and the guy knew that I was on my lunch break from work. he gave me the places number and said that if i came back during my lunch another time, just call in advance and he will place my order for me before I arrive, which is great because I only have an hour. I would say that the fact that the guy is awesome made me give this place four stars, but the size of the dishes prevented me from giving it a five.. oh and lack of spiciness. This is easily the best Thai Restaurant in Spokane and that I've ever eaten at. Authentic Thai. I've eaten here 10-12 times and have never had a meal that I would rate less than 5 stars. Simply amazing. When my wife and I go out for Thai food, she insists on going to Thai Kitchen. It is one of the best eating experiences in a restaurant I have had, period. The food is incredible. It isn't just great Thai food, it is great food. The range of dishes is extensive, allowing you to stick with familiar Thai dishes like Pad Thai or curries, while giving you an opportunity to delve deeper into the cuisine. The owners provide friendly and personalized service. Paul and his wife go out of their way to make people feel like welcome guests. The decor is not high-flautin' but with food this good, who cares? This place is the epitome of a mom and pop shop. The owner/waiter is very friendly and will walk around and talk with the diners as much as he will work. I found this refreshing and very welcoming. While a bit expensive for thai compared to LA prices, it isn't unreasonable. The food felt very authentic, though I am not an expert on authentic Thai food. The curry was definitely spicy. I had the Jungle curry #1 spiciness and it was still very hot for me. I normally ask for extra mild but still struggle through. The service was friendly enough but the portions were very small, the smallest portions I'd ever been served in a Thai restaurant. The taste was just average to a little below average The wrong noodles where used in the pad thai, slow service in that once food was dropped off he never refilled our water or came back to the table. I was charged for rice even though I didn't order it and the old restaurant trick of not showing up at your table after dropping off the check until you get up to leave so he doesn't have to make change as I was paying cash. My family stopped for lunch at the Thai Kitchen today at 11:45 am on the way to the airport (for a 3:00 pm flight). We were fairly quickly seated and provided drinks. Our food order was taken fairly quickly (at about 11:55 am). I was starting to get frustrated at 12:40 when other parties we arrived with seemed to be receiving their food orders but ours had not yet arrived. At 12:50 I told one of the waitresses that we needed our food immediately because we had a flight to catch. After some scurrying on the part of the staff, we left the restaurant at 1:05 without our food (so that we could make our flight). Although I hadn't realized it, my daughter who was seated across from me noticed that 2 or 3 parties came in after us, were served, and left before us. There was no fathomable excuse for this incredibly slow service (I did not become short with the wait staff until we had been waiting for an hour. This is the best Thai around. We have lived everywhere from Europe to Asia and would try Thai food in each place and this is hands down the best. The veggies and meat are so fresh. Nothing is ever frozen. Paul is a delight and will give the best recommendations. He serves us something different every time and it is fabulous. From June 26, 2015 Torn. I absolutely love the food and staff here. It's authentic, delicious and always comes piping hot. The only problem is, there's ONE person in the kitchen cooking, which results in a long wait for your meal. We don't come here often because of that, especially with the limited hours. Usually the wait is about 40 minutes or so, but tonight, it's been over 2 hours and we've only received our appetizers. Now that we have an infant, this place might be the last place we consider while trying to decide where to eat. It's a waste of time for sure. read more

We met here at my brother's recommendation. He had eaten here once some time ago, but only remembered that it was pretty slow. The gentleman helping us--obviously the owner--was very friendly and said he would order for us--just tell him what meat we wanted. The first of our group's meals arrived after an hour and 10 minutes. It was an hour and 25 minutes when my wife's meal arrived. When we left, we saw there was a sign by the entrance telling "new customers" to expect at least a 45 minute wait if you do not have a reservation. Obviously that is the key here, since quite a few people who came in after us got their food well before us. He did give each of us his card and told us to call ahead of time next time. This is a small family operation and everything is cooked fresh. For us the food was good, but not the best we've had. Mine was not spicy at all--and I like about a medium spiciness for Thai food. He did not ask me how spicy I wanted what he "picked" for me. I should have said something when we ordered, he asked everyone else how spicy they wanted theirs. I guess I was trusting his recommendation. Also, it was VERY NOISY the day we were there--though admittedly largely due to being next to a table of 9 people that were all talking at the same time. We couldn't hardly hear each other. I suspect another visit would be different. My wife and I love Thai food. In every town that we visit or live we find the best Thai place. This is not it. The first problem is that they are expensive for lunch. At most places there is a lunch special and you usually get a spring roll or soup with your entree. Not here. They aren't open for dinner but their prices are what you would expect for dinner at one of the Thai places. Second, the portion is very small. So not only are you paying dinner prices but you are getting smaller than lunch portions. Third, the entrees do not even come with rice! This is printed on the menu on the last page but you wouldn't know it unless you went to the last page to order extra rice. The thing is, we never asked for rice. He assumed it and charged us $3 for it. If the default assumption is that the dish comes with rice, so much so that you don't bother asking if that is okay, then why isn't it just included in the cost? Instead of Panang Curry costing $10 why doesn't it cost $11.50 an include the rice? I am going to assume, since he likes to assume, that it is to make us think that the dishes are cheaper than they actually are. Fourth, don't bother with tofu. It has that Nasoya brand tofu taste. If any of you have actually tried to fry tofu at home to get it like the Thai restaurants you have probably discovered that there is a secret to doing it. I have yet to find that secret but the tofu shrivels up and then turns golden brown. I don't think Thai Kitchen has figured it out yet either. So why all of the good reviews here other than mine? Spokane Valley, so far, has one mediocre overpriced Thai place and the rest are meh. This is one of the meh ones. If I grew up here and Thai Kitchen was all I knew I might like it but compared to what you find elsewhere it just isn't worth the price. I hope I can find something decent in downtown Spokane or I might just have to move - I can't live without decent, dependable, affordable Thai food. read more

This place is pretty much our standard for Thai food outside of Lotus of Siam in Vegas. You have to wait a long time for your meal here as there is only one cook in this family owned and run establishment, but, considering the quality of the food, it is worth the wait. Portions are smaller than at other Thai restaurants but just because someone serves you a lot of food, doesn't make it good food. Our usual favorites include: pad thai, green curry, panang curry (the best ever!), pad see ew, dumplings, crab fried rice and sweet chili shrimp. They are no longer open for dinner but if you call in your lunch order at 10am you don't have to wait as long. read more
