The butter was super fluffy and light and the bread was a great crunchy texture, but other than that I feel like it lacked that extra flavor to take it up a notch. We also tried the calamari which was pretty good. For my entree I had the Romano chicken alla vodka. It was genuinely so so good! I feel like the ambiance was okay, it was packed and really loud but I figure that's just because it was a holiday. It was also weirdly dark in there which I'm not a fan of. Our waiter was nice but smelled like he just got back from smoking a cigarette every time he came to the table.

Blackened salmon with guacamole salad was outstandin; a whole meal in itself FYI, they do get busy at lunch so if you get there around 11:30 you shouldn't have a problem.

I also got the taco flight, while my husband ordered the quesabirria tacos....everything was fantastic. We started with the guacamole, which was made table side right in front of us, and it was hands down the BEST guacamole I've ever had! My daughter loved the salsa, and the dessert flight was the perfect sweet ending to an amazing meal. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was incredible, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. I will definitely be back! This is officially my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Kansas City and, in my opinion, the best Mexican food in town.

There was a wait of about 20 min-- not bad. I was excited that the food would be fresh! The music was quite loud, but I suppose that's to be expected of any place on a weekend night. When we sat down, we were given chips and salsa. When we asked for hot salsa, it was an extra charge. Even though most Mexican places provide a spicy version at no charge, we went ahead and decided to try it. I wouldn't recommend it. The flavor was almost bitter, and it didn't seem fresh. I ordered the quesadilla with shredded chicken, and it arrived sopping wet. The tortilla on the bottom was soggy, and I ended up having to heat it with a fork and knife. There was barely any cheese. The side of beans lacked in flavor. The only highlight of the dinner was their queso. However, at $8 for their smallest portion, I felt like it would have been easier to just buy Gordo's queso from the store and eat it at home. To top it off, I felt like the restaurant was dirty. If you look closely at the chairs, walls near the tables, under the tables, and in corners, it feels like the surfaces haven't been cleaned properly. If I were to recommend some place else in the area that's comparable in terms of type of food and ambiance, I'd recommend Palacio Maya in Independence (not the one in the Northland).

Ophelia's Restaurant had me excited before I even walked in. From the outside, it gives off a great…read morefirst impression--but unfortunately, that momentum stalled a bit at the door. My family and I entered and weren't greeted, despite there only being one other table seated. We ended up walking across the dining room ourselves before eventually being acknowledged. Not the strongest start. Once inside, the atmosphere had its ups and downs. The space itself is beautiful, but some details--like visible weeds and black tablecloths--took away from the overall polish. That said, things started to turn around once we got settled. I had the chance to meet the chef, who was incredibly personable and clearly passionate about his craft. We kicked things off with appetizers, and this is where the kitchen really began to shine. The lobster rangoons and tempura shrimp were both excellent--crispy, flavorful, and well-executed. For entrées, my daughter and sister-in-law both ordered the chef's burger and really enjoyed it. My niece had the steak frites and absolutely loved it. My wife ordered the lemon brick chicken with gnocchi and olive tapenade. After tasting it, I felt the gnocchi could have benefited from a quick sauté in clarified butter, finished with a squeeze of lemon and fresh herbs to bring out the depth the dish promised. I went with the Wagyu burger. The cook on it was spot-on, but the execution fell short. It came topped with three large slabs of bacon hanging well over the sides, making it difficult to eat without taking it apart. After adjusting it myself, I noticed it was under-seasoned--something as simple as a finishing salt would have elevated the richness of the Wagyu significantly. Overall, Ophelia's has a lot of potential. The food shows promise, the chef clearly knows his craft, and the space is visually appealing. With a few adjustments in both service and execution, this could easily become a top-tier spot. I'll be back--and I'd still recommend giving it a try. 4 out of 5 forks.

How did I let someone talk me into this place?…read more First problem... The wait. No real organization coming in the door; so often waiting just to be seated, even if there are lots of open tables. Shouldn't matter that much for a buffet. Second - Signs are up all over the place telling workers how to perform their work. Including cleaning items. All of these SHOULD be just standard work that anyone working in a buffet can/would do. Just because you wrote it in a foreign language doesn't mean it is decor... it proves that your staff doesn't clean unless you repeatedly tell them. Third - Place was NOT clean. Bathrooms hadn't been touched. The table we sat at was sticky. Food was on the floor (I don't blame staff for this... this is a clientele issue!) But still had to clean things off the bottom of my shoe before getting back in the car. Four - It all tasted the same. Didn't matter if it was pork, chicken, shrimp, etc... just wasn't good food. Five - This is way too expensive for what you receive/tolerate here. It is apparent from the other reviews that people get wowed by the size of the place and the size of the buffet. It is a neat setup. But as consumers, we need to demand better food, because THAT is why you are there. Sushi was as cheaply made as it could be, and no one was manning the M-BBQ counter, so that wasn't an option on the day we were there.

Maybe a little pushy on the water refills. It's like they saw us taking pictures and were giving us reviewer treatment. I'm not saying that is the case, but I felt it was forced and awkward regardless. Regarding the insides, there is a small and quiet sushi side, and the loud hibachi inside. It has the kitschy but endearing japanese asian aesthetic and is usually clean and well kept. Salad was sweet and good. Soup was served to us warm, not hot. They offer daily specials, weekly trivia contests, and a live music. Entertainers generally play live music several nights a week. Sinclairs host mostly acoustic performers, mainly on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Most of the entertainers feature guitar playing solo artists in the bar area. As for the food... it's all pretty tasty. Served in an upscale fashion. And worth mentioning is THE ABSOLUTE BEST MEATLOAF I have ever eaten outside of my own kitchen; and yes, possibly even better than my own... which speaks volumes because I'm generally an excellent cook and extremely particular diner. (Not bragging - just emphasizing that my standards are high). This meatloaf is hearty, rich, and moist, with a firm meaty texture (Not over done with fillers). It's cut generously and served over freshly mashed potatoes topped with a complex & flavorful sauce I'd liken to a rich brown gravy with a hint of herbs & possibly a tad bit of steak sauce for good measure... Its the star. I just wished they served this on their daily menu! Speaking of... their entire menu is thoughtfully made, and the chef deserves major kudos for their talents in the kitchen.
