First review since the move to the new location. I'm definitely unimpressed with most of what I saw. While the location and building is much more impressive, the food was so different. Is this even the same place? I understand most food is up for interpretation but I've eaten here plenty. The Tom yum soup that used to be simple and great, now has giant pieces of onion, whole cherry tomatoes, thick slices of lemongrass and hardly any mushroom. The pad Thai...which is probably their signature dish has taken a wide step left as well. Consistency used to be great here. Too bad. read more

Branching out in the area for Thai food. Found this little place. Cozy environment, well lit, staff very friendly. Waited on within 2 minutes of being seated (which was right away). Decent amount of selection, but we always go for pad see ew as a staple. Only had to wait about 10-15 for the food and you could pick on a scale of 1-10 how spicy you wanted the dish (I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy, so a 1 for me). Good flavor, could maybe have used more broccoli but overall fairly good. Also got an order of sticky rice and mango, which was pretty good as well. The mango could have been slightly more ripe, but still good tasting. Will likely be back here again since it's so close to home. read more

First of all, our food came out after about a hour and 15 minutes and we only ordered 3 dishes. The place had one other table and the food was barely edible. After moving to Dayton from San Francisco, we've been depressed over the quality of basically anything beyond cheeseburgers and skyline chili. Tried this place for the first time today. I really liked it! The service was very friendly & the place was super clean & cute. The food was good, too! We got Singapore Noodles, General Tso's Chicken, Thai Fried Rice, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Szechuan Chicken. Everything was fresh and very good. Prices were moderate. I decided to give this restaurant a second chance - pre-pandemic I had ordered Pad Thai from here which was very satisfactory. During the pandemic I ordered carry out once and it was terrible but I thought since time had passed I would try again. Again I got Pad Thai which was a container of noodles,very little sauce and not much chicken. There was no flavor even though I had asked for medium spice. There was a pile of something in the corner of the container which I came to find out was bits of burnt peanuts at least I think that's what it was! This place has disappointed me... it used to be SOOOOOO good. I don't know if there has been a change in management / ownership but 2/3 years ago their food was amazing. I used to work close to their restaurant and would frequently go there. I've always ordered the same thing- general tso chicken. I got carry out today. The food was hot, the prices here are good but the quality has just gone downhill :( the chicken & vegetables were all mushy, making it impossible to enjoy. I ended up eating less than a third of it. Thai Kitchen is a nice little family-owned restaurant near the Dayton mall. I cam here with my wife and son on a Friday evening and was surprised at how empty the restaurant was. We were seated immediately and enjoyed a delicious Thai dinner served by an attentive and gracious server. As others have mentioned, the recent remodeling is a nice touch and we will come here again for a great meal. Make sure you try the Thai Iced Tea. You won't be disappointed. read more

We have been here two times. I had the green curry first time. It was very good. Second trip I had Chicken Pad Thai, it was great. My daughter had chicken fried rice which was spectacular. Food was great the first time. Second time I got carry out and it was horrible. The lettuce was hot and wilted/brown in my spring rolls and my noodle dish had different veggies than the first time I ordered it and the tofu wasn't how I asked. Contacted them on Facebook and they acted like it was my fault and said the vegetables can be different depending on the cook. Ok, maybe you should say that in your menu..offered to credit me. Contacted them about using the credit and you would think I asked for a million dollars. Told them I was coming at 830 for take out and they said their last call for kitchen was 845. Uh ok ... then I said I can do 815. Had the nerve to ask me to place an earlier order. I'm sorry, but that's not how that works. Won't ever go back. They can keep their credit. I'm thinking that the owners read the negative reviews and made appropriate changes because I loved this place and I'm hard to please! Yeah, I thought it odd that the soda was canned but I also know what the vendors want for a soda fountain these days. And honestly, I could give a crap about soda especially when they had a wonderful jasmine tea. As a vegetarian it can sometimes be game of 20 questions with a restaurant to determine if they're hiding meat in my food (broth, sauce, etc.) but I never had that issue here. They have a ton of vegetarian appetizers and entrees and I'm going back for more.... soon! So very underwhelming. I've had the best Asian food at places that look like this -- as others have said, it's a hole-in-the-wall, with random kitsch on the wall -- and it's family run, so I was expecting good things. We got two sushi rolls -- spicy tuna and spicy California -- and they were fine. They didn't blow us away, but they weren't bad either. Just typical sushi -- and not particularly spicy. All they did to make them spicy was put a bit of hot sauce on the top of the rolls. We also got the red curry with chicken. The curry had an abundance of big, chunky vegetables -- bamboo shoots, carrots, peppers, broccoli, but seemed less saucy and not as spicy as I like (I got a spicy level 8, the highest was a 10). As another reviewer noted, I found the food, overall, to be pretty bland. But what really blew us away (and is largely the reason for my 2-star review) was the price. Maybe it was the hole-in-the-wall atmosphere, but we weren't expecting an over $30 bill for dinner for two. The prices were on par with Thai 9 downtown, but the ambiance left something to be desired (it's a tiny place and we were seated, like, two feet from the hostess and, really, couldn't have a private conversation). This little hole-in-the-wall is a favorite of mine. It's just like walking into a restaurant in the orient. My favorite is green curry. It's an ample portion and really good. You want spicy? They rate on a 1 to 10 scale. 1 is very mild, 10 will make your nose run and your eyes bug out. I love mine really spicy and I stop at their 8. Above that I can't taste the curry. Just tried this place for the first time. It's tucked back in a strip mall so you need to know it's back there, but it's a hidden treasure. I had one of their lunch specials and they asked how hot I would like it on a scale of 1-10. Since I like spicy, I chose "8" and it was very good. We used to love Thai Kitchen, however after our order tonight we will not be ordering there again. $67.00 for a pitiful amount of food was so disappointing considering we've never had any complaints in that department.
