And we had the pleasure of chatting with Lisa Rice-Ray, the owner, and her husband, who obviously take great pride in what they've accomplished there. This small, family owned establishment in Mesquite, NV is fascinatingly one of my favorite Thai spots. They do curries spectacularly well and their mango and sticky rice is not bad at all. I come here when I'm passing through (few times a year). I'm always sad when I'm passing through on a Sunday, the only day they're closed. I ordered the cashew chicken. It was a large helping of food and it was delicious. I eat here whenever I am in Mesquite Nevada. I also ordered the shrimp tempura. They were definitely hand battered. Came here during a drive from Vegas to Page. The service is very fast. We had fish cakes, spring rolls, and beef pineapple curry. The fish cakes are made in-house and outstanding. This is a lovely restaurant and the food is outstanding. My server, Laura, was pleasant and very helpful. I heard her ask how spicy a customer wanted his food; 3 is hot like jalapeño. I chose no heat. We had orange chicken which was light and delicate, and vegetable padd thai. I had a Thai iced coffee and the pineapple, coconut ice cream for dessert. It was exactly what we wanted; a dream dessert. If you're trying to find it, it's located to the back of the lot where Best Western is located. We will be back again for another wonderful meal. The lunch special was a wonderful way to try their food! The price is so reasonable and includes a salad soup and an entrée and an egg roll! Food, nice and hot. I had the orange chicken and my husband had the beef broccoli. We want to come back sometime for dinner and split the appetizer sampler (which has a lot of food,) and try some of the entrées for dinner. This place can be a little hard to find...but we found it and gave it try! Why did I go to this little place? Well for one, the reviews are glowing and for the main reason...to try that pumpkin curry! Hub and I arrived a little after 5 pm...it was extremely dead, which seemed scary. As we went through the menu, we noticed a lot of pick up orders...so they are clearly doing some business that way...thank goodness. Owner was as sweet as can be, as we ordered....she told us that they go up to spice level 5...I am used to 10...so I said how about a 3? I think she just could not accept 3...she thought it would be too hot...I love VERY spicy food...so she said get a 2 and then she put fresh ground Thai chili pepper on the table and said...that way you can make it higher ....but once I put it in, I can't take it out.(ha ha ha). Hub ordered the Pad Thai, I had pumpkin curry. Hub was sprinkling on the Thai powder on his. Mine was about perfect! This place is pretty reasonable and the portions are huge!!! I was glad we did not order chicken satay...We both could not finish our food but it was outstanding!!! As we left, we let her know we were from Vegas...in which she replied..."what are you doing here?" We all cracked up! She then showed us her blueprints to update her building to look more traditional Thai. PLEASE keep these owners in business!! They cook with love, they are so friendly!!!
