Chicken Pad Thai
Patrick T.

This place has escaped me for years because they only open during the lunch hours of 11am - 3 pm Tuesday - Saturday. But I made it finally! I had already had lunch but I passed by and said I had to come here. I order a couple things in hopes of seeing what the deal was about this place. I ordered the Pad Thai and Chicken Satay. Honestly, I'm more a Pad Se Ew lover but I decided Pad Thai was the way to go today but it was very good and the amount fed me for 2 meals. It was full of the right traditional flavor. Lots of chicken and noodles. The chicken satay was flavorful and tender. I would definitely be back to try another dish or two. I would say worth the price as you get a good amount.

This place is always packed and busy! I've been wanting to come back to enjoy their delicious food, but it's usually crowded. I tried the Pad See Ew, Thai dumplings, and Red Curry with rice. Everything tasted amazing except the Thai dumplings they didn't have much flavor. The service was really good though! The inside of the restaurant is a bit small, and everything feels packed together with the seating quite close to each other. Overall, the food and service are great, and I'll definitely be returning to enjoy more of their tasty dishes!

Chicken Satay

I have another recommended choice for those who want to experience the vibrant flavors of Thai cuisine. Thai Country Restaurant in Clovis is renowned for its flavorful Thai, Laotian, and Chinese dishes, with excellent food quality. Patrons of this popular lunch spot rave about the pad thai, drunken noodle, Mongolian beef, chicken satay, and Thai curry dishes. I can attest to the freshness, vibrant colors, and complex flavors of Thai food, as represented in the dishes I have tried, along with a couple of Chinese dishes. The chicken satay was flavorful, tender, perfectly grilled, and served with a dilled cucumber salad and a rich, creamy peanut sauce. The satay had an amazing aroma and was plump and juicy. The pad prik king with beef featured green beans perfectly stir-fried with a spicy red curry paste and tender, flavorful beef flank steak. The half entree to-go is served over jasmine rice to balance the bold flavors of the curry and meat. The cashew chicken, a staple at many Chinese-American restaurants, is stir-fried with onions, peppers, and carrots in a savory sauce made from a combination of soy sauce and oyster sauce. The blend of sauces offered a combination of saltiness, complex savoriness, and subtle sweetness notes, which enhanced the overall taste of the dish. I enjoyed its rich and complex savoriness marinated into the tender chicken slices, cashews, chilis, and vegetables. Another Chinese-American dish was the sweet and sour chicken. The dish features a crunchy pan-fried chicken coated with a sweet and sour sauce. I loved the crunchiness of the chicken and the lightly sweetened, tangy sauce. The Mongolian Beef is tender slices of flank steak, stir-fried with scallions and onions in a savory brown sauce. I enjoyed the array of colors and flavors, the tenderness of the beef, and the use of Sai Fun (crispy bean thread stir-fry noodles), which was liberally topped and stir-fried with the dish. All half dishes, combination plates, and lunch specials are served with jasmine rice. Main dishes are served a la carte. A big thumbs up for the presentation of the dishes and friendly, attentive service. The serving portions were generous. The consistency of flavors and the quality of the dishes warrant another visit soon. I will have to try more dishes before I can determine if I have a new favorite lunch spot for Thai food in Clovis. The array of lunch specials is very enticing, and I look forward to coming back and trying any number of them. Closed on Sunday and Monday. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

When it comes to the BEST panang curry/rice chicken curry, this place is the best, no question! By far this place have been holding it's name and the first for having the best thai curry in town. And yes, I'm back for the curry. RED CURRY : Their's protein option; pork, chicken, beef, and tofu. Today I order pork red curry. The red curry is slightly spicy and a bit more oily. The balance of the herbs, paste, spices and coconut cream was perfect. The taste is creamy, sweet, salty and spicy. The lemon grass, lemon leaves and basil enhances the aroma and taste palate. The pork was perfect and very tender. SERVICE : They are always busy. Though, they are still great at giving the best service and attend to all of the guest. Sadly that sometime ordering through the phone is a bit hard because if they are on the phone with someone else, the line will cut you off. The wait time is approx. 30 min long for waiting in line or order take out. AMBIANCE : This place is very small and it's always pack. Sometime it's hard to stand in there or sit in there. All of the seats are very close to each other. The noise level is high. And yes, it sounds very busy here. OVERALL : I suggest plan ahead if you want to order or dine in. This place is always crowded. Majority of their menu are awesome to taste. I recommend it to anyone who wants some thai food. CONS : Their menu is a bit pricy.

Pad Thai & Panang curry combo ($16)

Hands down, this is the best Thai place in the Central Valley! The only downside to this restaurant is that its hours are limited to 11-3pm. Be sure to come before noon, or be ready to wait a bit for a table. I love their combination plates because the quantity of food is enough for two people (or two meals for one person if you want to pack a to-go box). My favorite protein to get with their entrees is the fried tofu. My go-to order is the pad Thai & panang curry combination ($16).

Sinny S.

Dropped a star due to them not serving food in order. Very similar to a previous post, we watched others that came in behind us got their food first. Ours was a 40 mins wait and the waitress said, "your food is coming."

This place was jamming... cute restaurant with the kindest staff! The food was absolutely amazing! Only open for lunch, and be sure not to miss it. I am not kidding this is the best thai food I have ever had. And I've had a lot! I'm from Bakersfield and I will be driving to have it again!

Pad Thai

Joining the Thai Country fan club real quick. I've heard such great things about this place and it's been on my Fresno food bucket list and it did not disappoint! Their hours are limited and they are only open for lunch so I was worried about snagging a seat, but it definitely wasn't a problem! I came in with a group of 4 around 11:20ish on a Saturday and there were still plenty of tables!!! I think we got lucky though because it got busy shortly after so it's all about timing. THE FOOD/DRINKS: 〰 Pad Thai (4.5/5): This pad thai was BOMB. Perfectly savory and umami. I like my pad thai a little sweeter BUT that's just a personal preference and regardless this still tasted goooood. Gobbled this up like nobody's business! 〰 Thai Tea (5/5): I haven't met a thai tea i didn't like and this is definitely not an exception! Refreshing and not overly sweet. Perfect compliment to the meal. 〰 Panang Curry (5/5): Sooooo comforting and delicious. I would definitely get this again. The menu warns this dish is spicy but I don't think it's that spicy!!! I can only imagine how much this dish would be elevated with increased spice! However, at base level, this is YUM! Food aside, I would give this place 5 stars for service alone. I kid you not, we ordered and food came out in less than 8 minutes. My sister was even like, "I didn't have time to process that the menu was taken away and the food is here!". They were QUICK! And the food was still so quality. They don't mess around here. I get why people love this place so much. I wish they were open for dinner as well :'( I'd love to come here again and try out their other dishes too!!!

And it wasn't until I brought it home. I realize that I was given beef instead of pork. The flavoring was OK not very sweet kind of bland but when you add the green sauce to it, it elevated the flavors and was amazing. I don't think that I would eat any of the dishes without the green sauce as the flavor profile is not very strong. Previously, I did order a pork pot Thai, but again the flavor profile was not that great until the green sauce was added I would go again, just due to convenience and the addiction to the green sauce lol

The one dish we could agree was good was my sons, otherwise this might be a 2 star review. But let me set up the stage. We've been going all day. 2 of us haven't eaten all day, and it's 3:00 pm. We're very hungry! And my wife has a headache that she is trying to brave for the sake of our daughter. She just promoted to high school a few minutes early, and really, it's her fault we are here. She wanted fried rice and this is what Yelp told us was a good place to eat. We walk in and while it's cooler than the 98 degrees outside, but it doesn't feel relieving. I later saw that the temperature was set to 85 degrees. The menu is pretty straightforward. I'm split between the beef salad, the laab and the Thai salad. I really like laab but only when it comes with sticky rice. Beef salad is one of my favorite dishes and it's really filling. But it has to be done right! The authentic spots usually get it right. The bourgeois restaurants usually get it wrong. I'm getting good vibes from Thai Season so I give it a go. Everyone else gets orange chicken, fried rice and garlic chicken with pad Thai. My daughter complained that her pork fried rice had huge chunks of broccoli and onion in it, but she still liked it. My wife felt her chow mein wasn't very good. I thought it was bland, but she liked her fried rice. My youngest liked his orange chicken and fried rice. My wife and I felt the orange chicken was just OK. Panda has better to be honest. My beef salad was just OK. Possibly the laziest way I've had it was with Italian dressing. 2 different restaurants for that too me. The way I like it, and the way I make mine, is with a homemade citrusy dressing. I could not pin the reason why this one failed, other than it tasted watered down. Hands down though, we all felt my sons garlic chicken and pad Thai was the best dish by far. I almost gave this 3 stars until I remembered I paid $92. Maybe I need to stay out of Clovis. Apparently they like bland food If there was one thing I liked, they serve everything in ready to go boxes.

For lunch, I opted for the Panang curry with steamed veggies, and a side of pad Thai. My wife ordered a chicken salad with peanut dressing. Ordering is a little awkward. This place is set up for takeout, although there are a few tables spread throughout if you decide to eat there. Truth be told, the dining room is sad. You will see a few tables, and a few pictures on the wall. There is no music playing , and there is no staff -other than the owners and their son (Siam). I get it! Reducing overhead in today's economic environment makes a lot of sense. Restaurants are running lean and mean these days. For now, my rating stands at 4 stars. I enjoyed my lunch and visit with Siam. I'll need to try more menu items to determine if I need to bump my rating up to 5 stars. Next time, I'm going to trust the owner to cook something for me that will change my life. I want a dish so tasty that I will forget all the other Thai places that I have previously tried. My main recommendation would be to spruce up the dining room to make it more inviting to dine in. I would also suggest to redesign the menu to include pictures , or get one of those monitors that runs a slide show of all of the wonderful dishes to choose from. I will be back with intent on trying 4 or 5 new dishes to get a better grasp of the full menu.

Chief among them is their menu, which are all authentic and hard-to-find dishes you will not get at any local Thai restaurant. The Pad Thai and Pad Kra Pow (grounded meat with Thai basil) are easily the most popular dishes, but I have also had the chance to try other dishes like Khao Kha Mu (braised pork) and Khao Man Gai (boiled chicken with ginger garlic rice). The Khao Man Gai is essentially a Thai interpretation of the Chinese dish, Hainan Chicken Rice. None of the dishes have truly impressed me so far but I appreciate they have not been very oily and overly seasoned. Pork belly is one of my favorite things to go for from most Southeast Asian cuisines, and man this ones so crazy. The pork has the perfect crisp on the skin, but the meat itself is so juicy and packed with flavorful. Not a single piece was cooked even slightly off. You HAVE to get sticky rice over the steamed rice. I don't make the rules. It has a natural acidity and comes with their signature spicy sauce. Recipe for perfection. I be blacking out and suddenly im dipping the pork in the spicy sauce, the rice in the spicy sauce, straight up DRINKING the spicy sauce. I really am dedicating this review to this dish. I do not care. On a real note, try everything on the menu at least once. They put their heart into every dish and I cannot applaud them enough.
