Honestly the best Thai place we've had in all of Fresno, and they know it! This place was packed, which is a good sign. We had to wait for at least 15 minutes to be seated. This place is always packed and busy! I've been wanting to come back to enjoy their delicious food, but it's usually crowded. I tried the Pad See Ew, Thai dumplings, and Red Curry with rice. The balance of the herbs, paste, spices and coconut cream was perfect. The taste is creamy, sweet, salty and spicy. The lemon grass, lemon leaves and basil enhances the aroma and taste palate. Joining the Thai Country fan club real quick. I've heard such great things about this place and it's been on my Fresno food bucket list and it did not disappoint! My friends and I arrived on Saturday at 11:15am and the place was almost already packed (they open at 11am). Parking is pretty limited and some people had to park on the street. We ordered the seafood Tom yum soup as an appetizer to share between the 4 of us and it was delicious. Then we had the chicken, panang curry and chicken pad Thai, with 4 sticky rice. I love their two specials - basil special or Penang special. I only get the chicken version of either one. I can say that I love their basil special chicken probably just a little more of the two. Basil chicken special comes with steamed rice and Pad Thai plain. Their version is very tasty and good. The service is good there but they are very small, and have limited hours AND they only serve lunch. Their hours are Tue to Sat 11 am to 3 pm. If you don't get there close to 11 am on Saturday you will have to wait maybe 45 minutes to get seated. Getting there at 11:15 I had to wait 45 minutes to over an hour on Saturdays. I really like both dishes here. Their Penang is very good too. They both are very tasty. Summary: great food, lunch only, get there at 11 am or maybe 2 pm (I don't recommend 11:15 am to 1:30 pm unless you are ok with waiting)if you are going on a Saturday AND eating in the restaurant. The service was above and beyond, the gal that answers the phone, takes order and rings people up should win a gold medal for juggling so much all at once and has the best smile around. I will say one thing I didn't like was their online prices were very much lower than the instore prices. There is a law called bait and switch in California that would deem this a deceptive practice, so if they can update the prices online and also make a mention on the website that prices differ between cash and card that would also be helpful. I believe that this restaurant is close knit because when I come here it's usually the same girls who are always working here ever since I was younger. The Green Curry is exceptionally one of the best Thai curries I've ever had. It's rich and bursting with flavor. It's a bit milder than their red curry but overall still the amazing. You could tell it's all home made because of the grittiness of the soup from combining all the spices and ingredients together. Because of this restaurant, green curry has been the staple foods I order at other Thai restaurants. Eating there feels intimate. There are a lot of family meals and catch up friends that take place over there. The restaurant itself is not too big nor to small but my favorite thing about the restaurant is their decorations. There are a lot of Thai culture imbedded into aesthetic, there are Thai embroidery, statues, and a whole lot of other miscellaneous stuff. Parking is a bit of a struggle when eating here during lunch hours. The lot is shared with other local businesses that included a Mexican restaurant, pizza place, laundry mat, gas station/liquor store, massage parlor, and a barbershop. And the parking lot is small for the amount of businesses placed in one area. Overall, Thai Country Restaurant definitely lives up to its hype.
