I want to preface this review with one important declaration - the food was good. The service, though, was not good. I was not amused by drink order mix-ups (twice) and having to clarify my order (twice). No, I really don't want meat in my entree, thank you. They were not busy when we arrived, but the place was hopping by the time we left. My expectations were pretty low, but the food was pretty tasty! Back of the house definitely has it together! Thai Cottage does a great job, and they've been doing that great job for quite a while. I can't claim native status, or even resident status, when I am in Edmonds.But I have long heard tell that Thai Cottage was a good place to eat in Edmonds when there were only a couple good places to eat in Edmonds--literally, two. They have tons of loyal regulars coming in for sit-down and takeout on a regular basis. They're super nice, and super bustling. You walk in and it smells great, looks really nice. Somebody calls out a hello while they're simultaneously doing other things, and suddenly you have recipes and water in front of you, followed by drinks, apps, and food almost as quickly as you can decide what you want. The food is solid. The spice stars seem reasonable and predictable, and they lend nice flavor as well as heat. The tilapia tasted fresh, and the tofu came out cooked to the appropriate level of firmness and chewiness. Bottom line, this place is run really well, and the kitchen cranks out tasty thai food for mainstream tastes at good prices. I don't go too far out of my way to visit, but I am never sorry I came. I've tried much Thai from many large cities and have a favorite in San Francisco as well as Seattle, but Thai Cottage in Edmonds really takes excellence to another degree. I know it's pedestrian to say it, and Yelp will probably stunt my profile for writing it, but their Pad Thai is excellent! I said it. I love Pad Thai, especially 1 star with chicken, and they do it really well here. Man, that was tough to admit, but at least I did it in a private and anonymous fashion. They also have a pretty diverse menu with lots of standard stuff and some specialties. The atmosphere is pleasant and very tidy, and service is great. Love this spot. We order take out from here all the time and it's always delicious but today a friend and I stopped by for lunch. We both have 6 month old babies (and strollers) which usually make for a difficult accommodation but the folks at Thai Cottage are so wonderful! They had extra space for us to easily stash the strollers, two high chairs and a toy to keep the babies occupied while we ate. The food came out so quickly and the staff were so lovely! I really enjoyed the pad see ew. I love that the lunch special came with the soup of the day (ours was hot and sour that day) and pad Thai! So unique and allowed me to get both the red curry I wanted and pad Thai! Both were very tasty! The only thing I do not recommend are the pot stickers. It obviously isn't something you could normally get at a Thai restaurant, but it was their monthly special so we went for it. Unique dishes that I have not seen at any other Thai restaurants, such as the Three Knights. The decor is engrossing, found myself staring at the artwork on the walls. Everything was very tasty. I especially enjoyed the mango with sticky rice! The service was good and friendly. Just stand by the doorway to wait to get seated, don't go hide in the corner. I just got back from Thailand a couple months ago and have been jonesin for some legit Thai food. This place hit the spot. The Thai tea and Tom yum soup were delicious. The soft rolls are good too but huge pieces covered in the peanut sauce so if you're not into that, ask for it on the side. The Tom yum soup has tons of shrimp in it too. Thai Cottage was an awesome surprise to stumble upon in downtown Edmonds. The restaurant has a welcoming and clean environment. To start, we got the sampler that included two of each: crispy prawn rolls, crab delight, crispy flowers, and pot stickers. They were all amazing. Unfortunately, this appetizer was on a limited-time menu. I definitely suggest it if it's still available. The chicken Phad Thai tasted just as good as I'd hoped. Of course it came with a very healthy portion, allowing us to take home a ton of leftovers (one of my favorite parts of Thai food)! I didn't expect Edmonds to have such a good Thai restaurant but Thai Cottage definitely has a place there. We went Friday night and had no problem getting a table right away. read more

My wife and I spend a lot of time in Edmonds. On this particular night we wanted something a bit less expensive and different from the normal places which led us right to Thai Cottage. We started with a nice appetizer - Pan Fried Calamari. The Calamari was well done and the dipping sauce was very good. For our main course I had Golden Noodles (Rice Vermicelli stir fried with carrots, bean sprouts, bell peppers, onions, celery, egg and yellow curry powder). I ordered it very spicy (four stars) and kudos to them it was certainly spicy and they did that without overloading it with the same old cliche "red chili flake." But that's about all I can really say about it. There was no real sauce on the noodles which were pretty dry and there was no real flavor beyond the heat. My wife had the more traditional Chicken Phad Thai and that was one of the best I've had which is saying a lot as I have three Thai restaurants near where I work. I think we'll have to go back to sample more dishes before I can definitively state if it's worth becoming one of our regular stops for dinner. read more

Came here last night, 7 of us, me and 6 new Deaf women friends. You can tell a lot about a restaurant when you come in 1) in a large group 2) when that large group is unusual. I liked the way they handled us. We were a complicated group, each ordering separately, with separate bills; one was a vegan, and concerned about fish sauce in her dish; and we were all signing, all the time. They put us at the most prominent large table, not relegating us to the rear, and, though I had no opportunity to sense any personalities from the staff, they were certainly patient and pleasant! My yellow curry dish was very tasty, but like another reviewer said, why charge extra for the rice? It wasn't that cheap ($12) that they couldn't have added the rice without an extra charge. This is my families favorite Thai restaurant. The staff is very welcoming and speedy. I think my family goes there too much because they know us all by name. Family Friendly :) The noodle delight is pretty amazing. I actually have yet to branch out and try a new dish. Someday. Apparently the curry is good. I am addicted to the crab delight. Bursts of flavor! They make a nice thai iced tea (doesn't dye my teeth like thai bistro). I am glad that they decided to upgrade to bigger glasses. I have to start this by saying I travel all over the place and am a Thai food connoisseur. I have had some pretty crappy Thai and some amazing as well. Decor is incredible, every single employee in this place was extremely friendly and welcoming. I felt welcomed from the minute my friend and I walked in the door. I ordered the Panang Curry with tofu and my friend ordered the Pad Thai with chicken. We were both in complete amazement by the stellar service, quick wait time, and delicious food. The spices were perfect, the amount of veggies to tofu ratio was on point. My friend said the flavoring for the Pad was awesome and the noodles tasted just right. I also ordered a Thai Tea with coconut milk, my favorite tea, and it was also very delicious. I do have to say the four stars is for the price, it is slightly expensive! Which I get it, it's Edmonds and there are lots of retirees and tourists, but for those who are on a budget, it's not the thriftiest option. I am definitely happy I came in though. read more

Pink and cold on the inside is not how chicken should be. The rest of the meal was predictably mundane. Even 3-star items tasted like 1-star. This is downtown Edmonds. Where else are you going to go to get your Thai food fix?? I believe this to be the crux of the problem here. Edmonds has a plethora of wonderful restaurants and bars that are very walkable. The short review is Great! It will still be one of our go-to-stops! Here's why. The owner remembered us! Not only that, but he remembered what our favorites were on the menu! I tried the place after a raving review from a co-worker. The food was, disappointingly on par with any other Thai restaurant. I am not a Thai food connoisseur, but my take on the dishes were ok.... nothing too fantastic. We had some green chicken curry. The most non-descript order of the bunch. The fried rice was hearty, and had a good mix, but again, nothing that really hit the spot. The flavors seemed smothered. The drunken noodles though, really saved the meal. Rich flavors and the spiciness was just right. For drinks, it was Thai Iced Tea. Can't go wrong there. And desert was mango sticky rice. Fairly standard fare. Mucho points on the service. There wasn't too much of a wait on the lines, even at prime hours on Saturday night. Seems to be able to accommodate larger groups. (4+) Overall, if you're in the mood for Thai food, and happen to be in the Edmond's downtown vicinity, then it's worth the visit for a bite. But I wouldn't make special plans just to scope it out. My friend Wendy (here on Yelp) got me hooked on Thai Cottage. This is our go to lunch place. Pad Thai can be kind of meh but Thai Cottage has gotten me hooked. As a GF vegetarian life can be tough but these guys are so good with making accommodations. I recently tried their black rice and coconut pudding. OMG so good!
