First and foremost, their service was so great! I came with a girlfriend to meet up after work and we were very impressed! I got the Tom Khai Ga soup and the only con to the soup was how many mushrooms were in the bowl. But it was so delicious and Joe I know to just ask for a little less mushrooms the next time. We tried it again the other night and I forgot about the mushrooms, oops! But the soup was still delicious and really hot when we brought it home. Today was our first time at Thai Cottage and we will DEFINITELY be back. Our waiter really went above and beyond with our vegan requests. I ordered the eggplant dish and he asked what sort of sauce I wanted, the options were oyster or fish sauce. I said neither, are there other options? And he quickly offered they could make it vegan. He checked on us several times throughout our time at Thai Cottage, while waiting on 5-7 other tables, answering the phone, and helping people with take out orders. He was kind, friendly, and attentive. The food was also really good. We also got the avocado green curry, and I've never eaten anything like it! I come here for the Noodle Soup, #31 on the lunch menu. I order Beef for the # 31 Noodle Soup. The Noodle Soup was highly recommended to me by a friend who is from Thailand. The soup has a sturdy beef broth, crispy lettuce and generous amount of beef. My sister calls it Pho on steroids. Be assured, this is a Thai noodle soup, not Vietnamese Pho. The red pepper sauce, fish sauce, and the dry red peppers etc. are not on the table, and you must ask for them. You must also ask for chopsticks. You must ask for tea. The wait staff is very friendly and solicitous. Ordered the Basil Fried Rice for the first time today. Excellent flavor, although the rice was a bit gummy. Thai Cottage is in a great location, smack dab in the middle of downtown Edmonds. It's within walking distance of a number of cool little shops and about a half-mile or so from the Edmonds waterfront. We went to the Thai Cottage for lunch on a whim and it was 'okay,' not bad - but also not memorable either, it was alright. We ordered the lettuce wrap, fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce, and fried rice. Our order came out incredibly fast - it was fast food fast. It almost like they knew our order before we did. The lettuce wraps were my favorite of the three things there we ordered. The chicken was served on a piece of cabbage was chopped up finally and there was a good blend spices on the meat - because it was diced so small it was pretty soft. The sauce that was served on the side was a little sweet and paired well with the spices on the chicken. Obviously the lettuce provided a nice freshness and texture to the dish and that made it very easy to enjoy. I would definitely order this again - it would honestly be a really good small, light bite for lunch. The fresh springs rolls with peanut sauce were okay to me. The peanut sauce had a good, rich peanut flavor - which you wanted - but I felt like it overpowered almost other flavors in the roll. The Thai basis did however cut through the peanut sauce and the cucumber did provide a little freshness too. The other two things to take away which took away from this dish for me was 1) the peanut sauce was warm, which warmed up the rolls themselves - I wish the peanut sauce was on the side and 2) the rolls were cut up, so it fell apart when eating it. It wasn't a bad spring roll, I just wish the peanut sauce was separate is all. The fried rice was light and fluffy. There was a lot of large pieces of onion, carrots and broccoli - as well as egg. It was a nice light rice, not bad at all - t was good, but not something that I'd probably order again. I liked my fried rice to be a little crispier and I'm not the biggest fan of onions. All-in-all it's not a bad place. It has a great, central location; the service is good and the food isn't bad - the price seems a little high for some items, compared to other Thai restaurants. I honestly probably won't be back, because there are other restaurants which I like more, but it's not bad. read more

It's a busy place in Edmonds. It's at a convenient location for me to grab a bite while strolling downtown Edmonds. The Pad thai however, was anything but convenient. Pad thai's noodles were overcooked, every time I tried to grab it with a pair of chopsticks it would just break apart. I couldn't find the sauce anywhere on my plate, so dry... Chicken was chewy, too chewy. To top it all off, the restaurant was simultaneously cooking and burning a dish causing everyone in the restaurant to share many moment(s) of spicy coughs. In summary, I'm glad to have tried this place to check off the box. I've been here once so take that for what it's worth. The food seems like your run of the mill Thai place....pretty good but nothing special. The 4 stars is because I thought the service was above par and that pushed it from three to four for me. We had the Kee Mao and Larb Na. I liked the Pad Kee Mao, but like I said it was nothing out of the ordinary. My girlfriend said her larb Na seemed like it was from a can or something. There wasn't necessarily anything wrong with it but I suppose she thought it was bland and underwhelming. The food came out LIGHTNING quick. Almost suspiciously fast if you know what I mean. The menu is quite large so I think it's a good spot for people new to Thai food or those who have picky eaters amongst them. After soup was finished, waited awhile still nobody came to take out order we had to get someone's attention. (NOTE: there was no one in there except for a table who was done.) anyhow food arrived, the lady asked if we wanted anything else before we ate the meal; I asked for a Thai ice tea, she repeats it back to me. So as we're eating 15 mins go by and still no ice tea, as we flag the guy down we told him we been waiting awhile for the ice tea. He ended up bringing it out. Meanwhile my friend finds a hair in his food, I finished my food before the tea basically got there. So we waited at least 15 mins waiting for someone to get the bill, we flagged the lady down and asking for the bill she said he's getting it. I mentioned to her I never got my tea. HER REMARK WAS "I didn't hear you" when she said it backed to me!! So we continue to wait another 5 mins still nobody is out on the floor so I had to stand up and go into the kitchen saying I'll pay in cash since this is taking so long! He gives me the bill it came up to 47 dollars!! When he said he was gonna pay for the hairy food and my friend didn't even order an ice tea. Which was not touched. Like under 5 minutes fast. The both dishes were so beyond greasy. The tofu was basically soaked in oil. The pad Thai had good flavor but I felt gross after eating it. We went to the Thai Cottage on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch. There were about six women and we all ordered different things some of us ordered straight from the menu some of us were more picky. The server was very nice and friendly and doing the best he could considering he was the only one working and it got pretty busy. He brought us our food however one of the girls food was at least 10 minutes late and all she ordered was chicken breast and rice kind of awkward and uncomfortable as she was waiting for the food and we were on a timeline. The food tasted pretty bland to me I wasn't very impressed. Also the service was decent however he was running around like a crazy person we were late for our appointment and instead of coming over to each individual woman to get their order we had to yell across the table which was kind of uncomfortable considering as you all know I am the most picky person in the world and I don't like sharing that picking is with everyone but I'm eating lunch with. I'm from Tacoma and my Hubs and I get Ty often with our International students I was thoroughly disappointed with this joint portions were very small food was very Bland and overall I really don't think I would ever come back. The food is excellent and moves my rating from a 3 to a 4. However at least 1/3 of the time our take out order is wrong. This past weekend our Fried Rice Basil Veggies was minus the Fried Rice. We checked during pick up (SOP now from experience) and it appeared correct from the writing on the container. We had even given them the item number of our selections. How hard can this be? The previous take-out, we were given an additional order. Early in COVID times, they never included the Thai Ice Tea. It is very frustrating because we love their food, the workers are always friendly, and we like supporting a local business. Now, we feel like we have to open each container before leaving the restaurant. We will continue going there but up our game re checking the order. read more
