I found this place on Restaurant.com and ended purchasing a $25 gift certificate for $2. We had to spend $35 to use the certificate so we ordered a slew of food in order to meet our minimum purchase amount. To start with, we ordered the Thai Lettuce Wraps. The sauce that accompanied the wraps was teriyaki-like and very good, not to mention the four different spicy sauces they bring out as condiments. Their Pad Thai with chicken was especially tasty--very flavorful and they didn't skimp on the portion size. The Crying Tiger consisted of marinated grilled beef over lettuce with a spicy lime sauce, which was also delicious. The meat was perfectly cooked and the lime sauce gave it a nice kick. For dessert we got the Mango Sticky Rice. This was the most disappointing part of our meal, although it wasn't terrible--I've just had better. They serve it on top of a creamy (coconut?) sauce for which I was not a fan of. Other than the dessert we were very happy with our lunch. Tonight we had the papaya salad and the 13.95 dinner combo (see pictures for menu options). For the combo, we chose the thai iced tea, tom yum chicken, chicken satay, and the pad kee mow. All were very delicious. The thai iced tea was extremely flavored, but not overly sweet. The tom yum soup was perfectly sour and spicy, and had ample amounts of chicken. The chicken satay with peanut sauce was also tasty. I was most impressed by the pad kee mow. The beef was so tender and flavored just perfectly. It came with a side of shredded salad, which was a perfect cooling foil to the spicy and flavorful beef. The papaya salad was tasty, though I noticed they used a lot of "filler" stuff, such as, carrot, nuts, and lettuce. We got this 8/10 spiciness, and it was pretty spicy! My only gripe was that the service was a bit slow. This was understandable, however, due to only having one waiter, and a full house. My husband and I love Thai food. He wanted to try somewhere new and found this on Yelp. We came here with friends in the late afternoon. We ordered from the dinner special menu and let me tell you, we were not disappointed. You get an appetizer, a soup, your meal with salad and a slice of watermelon, fresh strawberries and free tea. It was a huge amount of food! The thai iced tea had really great flavor. It wasn't too sugary sweet, which I liked. I had the egg roll appetizer, which were really good. The sauce they served it with was a sweet and sour I think and really good. I had the Tom Ka soup and it was so good. I could seriously have eaten a bowl of that alone and been happy! For my meal I had the mushroom and baby corn stir fry with shrimp and brown rice. The rice was just okay but the veggies and shrimp were really good. Before the strawberries came we ordered the mango sticky rice and it was soooo good. The mango was fresh, the rice was warm, sticky and gooey! I think I paid maybe $15 or $16 for my meal but the amount of good food was worth it. The service was great too. Our waitress was so kind and then who I would guess is the store owner made her rounds to make sure we were enjoying everything. I came here by accident, but after I finished eating, I'm not mad. I tried to go to another Thai restaurant in Lake Forest, but got the name confused with this one. I tried the chicken Pad Thai, crying tiger and some Tom Yum soup. The portions are generous so come with an empty stomach. The Pad Thai was a bit on the wet side, but I personally am okay with it. I chose #5 spiciness and it wasn't over powering. I usually get medium at other places and 5 was a good spice. Flavors were there and was definitely happy about the dish. The crying tiger was also a 5 spiciness but it wasn't spicy at all. Wished I got a 7 or more. Be sure to get the ala carte version, because it comes with a side of rice. Beef was tender and flavorful though. Tom Yum was pretty good, but wanted it more spiciness. It had a nice sour taste to it. Overall ow as happy I stumbled into this place. read more

This place is not bad but it's not my favorite either. This review is based on the pineapple curry and the Thai orange chicken. The Orange chicken had a lot of fat on it and was lacking in flavor and spice. The pineapple curry was not as thick as it's suppose to be and only had a few pieces of shrimp and pineapple in it. It did however have a good flavor to it. The owner was also nice enough to check up on us multiple times throughout our meal. Finally, the prices are on the expensive side. I've always came here for my to-go order because of the location convenience. Service is usually pretty nice; the younger gal that works here is super nice, but the old lady comes off a bit rude (maybe because she does not speak English well). Food has never disappointed. I absolutely love the fact that they use Chinese broccoli in their Pad See Ew instead of regular broccoli. The yellow curry and the Tom yum/kha soups are on point. I love this place! It's closer to me than Tasty Thai, has great dinner specials, and everything tastes freshly made and is all seasoned well. I'll take one star off though because they don't deliver, and because they put raw white button mushrooms in their tom kha. I don't mind mushrooms other than traditional straw mushrooms necessarily, but putting them in raw is weird. Seems like this is a growing trend among Thai places, and I don't like it. I came here for some lunch, and although the menu was somewhat limited in terms of Thai food, I found some food I wanted. I really wanted some Thai tea but they didn't have it, and they also don't have fresh spring rolls. In any case, I got a tom yum soup with shrimp and I asked for pad kee mao even though it wasn't on the menu. She told me they only have one type of noodle (the thin ones they use for making pad thai). I got pad kee mao with tofu and vegetables, and it was tasty. The tom yum soup came first, and there were five shrimps in the soup as well as a lot of mushrooms. The flavor was sour and spicy, and I really enjoyed the soup. The pad kee mao had a lot of vegetables and tofu, but it seemed a bit unbalanced with the amount of noodles which were lacking. It was spicy but not overly spicy, and the noodles themselves were chewy. Both of these items came to be around 20 euros, which is definitely expensive for the amount of food. So, I just had lunch here and it inspired my first Yelp review! Unfortunately...it's not a good one. My family and I used to eat here all the time, very good food at a very good price. However, over time, the portions seemed to get a little smaller, but it was not a deal breaker and we continued to go to Thai Corner on occasion. Well, a few weeks ago, my mother and I decided to get lunch. We got there at about 10 minutes to 3 and the waitress told us they were closed. No biggie, we went somewhere else. Today, we thought we hadn't been there in a while, let's go to Thai Corner! It was only 2:30, so we could make it in time for a quick lunch. The moment we got there, the waitress said "take out?". No, we wanted to dine in. She seemed reluctant, but told us we could sit if we hurried. After waiting for some take out orders, she finally took our order. As regular patrons know, the lunch special comes with soup. Well not for us today, a few minutes after we ordered the waitress told us "bad news, no soup because we are closing". No offer to reduce the price, no offer for extra portions. In fact, she continued to hurry us. I debated giving them 1 star, but the food we did get was not bad, so they get a star for that. Apparently, they just have really bad customer service now. Two big customer service tips for Thai Corner: 1) if you want to be closed by 3, just change your closing time to 2:30 and be cool with people staying til 3. 2) if you can't offer something that is typically included with the lunch menu, make some attempt to rectify the situation. Thoroughly mediocre. We had the lunch satay chicken and garlic chicken. Both dishes were bland. The regular ice tea had absolutely no flavor which was weird because it was tea colored. The Thai iced coffee tasted like liquid sugar. All the dishes used the most basic vegetables - cabbage, ice burg lettuce, and diced cucumber. I will say though, that the tiny portion of soup was very tasty. The food was edible but was like it had been prepared by a diner cook from the 50's trying for something "exotic". This place is OKAY. Nothing really terrible about it, just a typical Thai food restaurant. I got the mussaman curry with chicken and pad see ew. I typically order those two dishes when I go out for Thai and they were good. The mussaman had way too many raw onions, not sure if they were in a rush cooking it or what. The owner is a small Thai grandma and you can tell she's proud of her food. And she should be! The spicy noodle soup she recommended to me was amaaazing!!! The pad Thai was also very tasty. Found this place through Yelp and it was definitely a great choice! The staff was friendly and service is quick. We made a reservation, so we were seated right away. It's a lot of seats in a small, open area. They have a wide variety of options on the menu. Even though a lot of them are spicy, they have many tasty, mild options. We ordered gyoza, orange chicken, yellow curry with tofu, and pad sewwe with chicken. The gyoza was yummy, but the orange chicken was a miss-it was hard to chew and kind of dry. The curry was awesome, and I loved the pad sewwe. It had egg, wide flat noodles, broccoli, and the "special black sauce". I did think the curry bowl was small for the price ($10.95), but other than that, the portion sizes were fine. read more

Had food here a few times now. It seems like crying tiger is a hit or miss. My first time it was good but the second time the meat was so dry and sweet. Other items I had were salted fish fried rice, pad Thai, calamari, green curry, yellow curry, papaya salad. These weren't bad or crazy excellent but I think it is a bit pricey. Maybe that's how they give free thai tea or maybe that Lake Forest prices. read more

Some good some bad here. The good: Beef noodle soup!!! Insanely good. My mother-in-law is Thai and this gives hers a run for its money. Pad see ew also money!! Stepped in almost 3 PM (time for restaurant break 1 Hr. 3 PM to 4 PM) because one of server unlocked the door and turned off "open" sign. How come fantastic service mind, even thou less than 1 min they still allowed me in. Looked around the place which my Philippine co-worker told me have to come and try to look at the menu on wall. In a sec, "Better if you wanna check the time first ?" (in Thai) one Sarcastic sound from a group of server and a nicely word "Sorry we're closed" (in English) from another person after. and no one show enthusiasm. I have to apologize them. "Oops ! Sorry you guys have been closed" (in Thai). So I can't have anything even I want just Thai tea or menu or catering for my party. Trick ! 1. Even you still have 5 mins or they close the sign after you approached. Don't mention you can get their food. 2. No mercy, not say "Hi" if this is my break time. 3. They are not gonna inform you anything. you have to read from posted signs around the place. 4. Not try to learn Thai language.
