Horrible. This is my third time at this place the first two times it was excellent this last time I actually threw my food away. They didn't listen to what my order was and gave me things that made my food taste gross and because it was a to go order I just wanted to get home and start eating. I pretty much picked everything out of it that I didn't ask for and then threw it away. I also ordered and paid for sweet-and-sour sauce and I didn't get it actually now that I think about it all three times I took out to go orders they never gave me my sauce but I always ended up paying for it. I am surprised with the high ratings this place has. Extremely bad experience, our regular Thai place was closed so wanted to try a new one and found them on Yelp. One of those Rare occasions where you get mislead with great ratings and reviews. Either there quality has gone down & great reviews are from long back because the food that we served was stale & we had to trash it as soon as we had our 1st bite. There is thankfully no shortage of Thai food in Orange County, but I seem to have a hard time finding an establishment that does my favorite dish, yellow curry, the way that I like it. Thai Corner does, and that is the biggest reason that they get 4 stars from me. At Drew M.'s suggestion, we tried out the place on Friday. Their dinner special includes a small appetizer, soup, main course, and Thai iced coffee or tea for about $15. This, dear reader, is a great deal. I even "upgraded" to get a beer and was still left with a total bill of about $20, including tip. So the food. We shared the chicken satay and the cream cheese wonton appetizer -- both of which were really good! The tom kha gai is unfortunately not a great version of this coconut milk-based soup. I found it to be a little salty and didn't finish it. The yellow curry with tofu was the highlight of my meal. The curry was tasty and the tofu was just firm enough to make me not regret skipping the chicken for this entree. The Crying Tiger, despite the rave reviews it has here, was actually a miss for me. I tried a bite, and while I loved how juicy and tender the beef was, the smokiness of the seasoning was quite overpowering. I remarked that it felt like I was eating an ashtray. Our service was very good - at one point an older woman who might have been the owner came out to greet us. I was a regular at this place. I like their food, service is a crap shoot(sometimes you get your food fast, sometimes you will wait forever) but at least their lunch specials is a good deal. But sadly, I wouldn't be coming here anymore. Today, I went here for a late lunch. I arrive at 12:45pm. By this time, the lunch crowd was already dying down, the restaurant was a little less than half full. I come in and I catch the eye of the guy by the cashier/bar and said I need a table for one. He told me to sit wherever I want. So I take the table by the front door, the one that can sit four. I mean, lunch is almost over, there are plenty of other free tables so I figured, I should be ok on this table. A few minutes later, lady came over with a couple of menu and asked me how many people. It was only me, so I said one. After this, she asked me to move to another table. A table that can sit 2 people but is almost connected to another table of four, it was probably separated by about an inch. The table for four also has customers already eating. After a crappy morning at work, I just wanted to eat peacefully and not be uncomfortable. If I had moved, it would feel like I'm eating with those strangers. So I politely asked if I can just stay at the table where I'm at. She then looked around, looked at the clock, and said no. And you know what her reasoning is? That they might get crowded again. I don't understand. She was kicking me out of my table because they might have a potential wave of lunch crowd coming in at 12:45pm? Really? Am I not a customer too that I don't deserve the table I was sitting at? I mean, if the restaurant was crowded, and there were groups of people waiting to get seated, fine I'll move. But the restaurant wasn't even full. There were plenty of free tables. Why is she sticking me in that table that I'd feel uncomfortable eating in? At this point I just decided to leave. i've been here a few times for their lunch special. $7.95 you get a drink (thai tea or coffee), soup, side salad and an entree. Service is quick and the food is good. Plenty of parking spaces and the restaurant is clean. I usually get their pad thai, it's a good size portion for lunch (you won't have food coma when you go back to work). this may not be the best thai food but it's decent, it's good enough for me to go back a couple more times. My family and I had previously discovered a Thai restaurant in the area which we lived and even after moving an hour and a half away from them, we continued to drive for the food. We dedicated ourselves to this restaurant for about 15 years before they closed down. That was a few years ago. Since then we have searched for a good Thai restaurant in our current area (South OC), finding many that were either not of good food quality or simply did not have the same dishes or even the authentic taste. But now we have. I am very pleased to say that we tried Thai Corner today for the first time and not only was the food quality and authenticity of the dishes outstanding but the customer service was exceptional. Thai Corner has such a wide variety of dishes and had each of our favorite plates from our previous favorite Thai restaurant, including Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Thai Fried Rice, Thai Beef Salad, and numerous others. We are ecstatic to have found Thai Corner, our new favorite restaurant! A big thank you with sincere appreciation to those who helped my family today experience such a great meal. We will absolutely be returning in the near future and we will definitely be recommending you to family, friends, and even strangers on the street (if I get the chance, I'm sure). Came here the other night having heard that this place had some quality Thai fare, and as I needed to be in the area to pick up a package form the UPS facility, I met up with Vanessa H. for a few lolz. I found the interior to be neither a hole in the wall, nor boushy, so it falls in the 'absolutely average' category. Menu wise there are a lot of options on their set lunch and dinner menu, with their set dinner menu coming in at around $15 for an app, soup, main, and a drink (iced / thai coffee or tea). I opted for the Thai Iced Tea and it did what it needed to do. The best part of our meal were the apps. The chicken satay paired well with the peanut sauce and was well cooked, and the cream cheese wontons were crunchy and not overly creamy, which I really dug. My salad was uninspired, and the flavors just did not balance out- I ate about half of it. People have been raving about the Crying Tiger, so I gave it a whirl and asked for it spicy as well. When it came out it was warm and not hot, and the only redeeming thing about it was that it was very juicy, as it should be. Unfortunately, it seriously tasted like a burnt cigarette. No exaggeration, it tasted like an ashtray smells. I could not even finish it, and had to douse it with spicy sauce just to try to cover it up. Terrible. Maybe they had a bad night. Our service was great throughout, and the owner came out and chatted with us for a bit, and was a delight. I appreciate when folks make an effort to build a relationship with you, because in my mind, that is part of the reason to go out to a restaurant. If you want to just shove food in your face, there are fast food establishments and chain restaurants for that. I give 4.5 stars for the service, and a begrudging 1.5 stars for the food. We made the unfortunate mistake coming to this place on a Saturday for lunch. We sit down to find out that they don't have any lunch specials at all on the weekend and you have to ante up for dinner prices at lunch time. We ended getting Thai Egg Rolls, Pad Thai and the Spicy Basil with Chicken. The food is really damn good. The Pad Thai has a lot of flavor and the Spicy Basil is just that spicy and good. I can never resist ordering Thai Egg Rolls (other places call this Thai Spring Rolls or Summer Rolls) and this was no exception. The rolls were good and you get a lot of them. I would definitely recommend this place for like a work lunch Monday through Friday or for dinner. Hitting this place up on Saturday just isn't worth it unless its for dinner otherwise then the food becomes overpriced for lunch (you can be looking at close to $40 for 2 with sodas and tip at the end). For a Saturday lunch, I give this place 3 stars... any other time, it would have been 4 stars. read more

It's good, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back. I called my order in around 7:30 and she said it would be ready in 20 minutes...I only ordered one thing (Pad Kee Mao with beef) so I didn't expect that when I showed up 20 minutes later I would have to wait ANOTHER 15 minutes. The girl was super sweet, and I could tell she was a little frazzled and not expecting a Wednesday night dinner rush, so I don't entirely hold it against them, but they definitely need to staff better because the poor thing was taking phone calls and preparing the multiple take-out orders as well as serving the 5-6 tables of people in the restaurant. The place itself is tucked into a big shopping center, parking isn't a problem, and it's very comfortable and casual inside...a little nicer and more modern than similar neighborhood Thai spots. My total for the one dish was $10.75 and I was surprised at how small the portion was. MUCH, MUCH smaller than most places I go. I asked for a level 7 (scale 1-10) on the spicy scale and the flavor was very good and just the right amount of spice. For the price, the amount of beef was very skimpy and overall, I think the portion would have been more appropriately priced around $7-8.00. Between the delay in my to-go order and the small portions for the price, this is definitely not going to be a recommended spot from me. read more

Baby restaurant that just opened up a few weeks ago, taking the place of a Chinese restaurant that used to be here. Sad to see the Chinese place go, but its Thai replacement is far better. This is the best Thai food in Lake Forest area. A few months ago, the decor was horrible--red chairs that offset its yellow tables. It reminded me of McDonald's meets Thailand. The only thing that kept me coming back was the good food and great service. Slowly they've upgraded their interior, recently adding authentic Thai carvings, pictures, and decorations all over the place. Not the fanciest of places, but the food sure is tasty. Food always comes out quick and spicy--just the way I like it. The server will ask you how spicy you want your dishes prepared, but you should err on the side of caution. I love spicy foods, but my advice here is "Don't be a hero"--be safe and pick 2 or 3 for a milder taste; 5 is just spicy enough for me. One time I made the mistake of ordering my dishes a scorching 8--trust me I'll spare you the details of what happened after my meal. Prices are good and the portions are huge. I always start my meal with bowl of House Noodle Soup. Basically it's Tom Yum Soup mixed with fresh shrimp. fishballs, beansprouts, and a bed of white rice noodles. Hot, sour, spicy, and delicious. My favorite dish here is the Crying Tiger: grilled pieces of tender beef, resting on a bed of cabbage with a tangy, spicy dipping sauce on the side. This is a must have! Papaya Salad here is huge! Thinly sliced chunks of papaya have a nice refreshing taste to your mouth, that is until the spice kicks in. This salad can pack an unsuspecting punch if you're not ready for it. Pad Kee Mao is delicious. So is the Pad See Ewe. And so is the Pad Thai. I'm always stuck between which ones to order, so often times I just get all 3. They don't have their liquor license just yet, but they're working on it. By next month, I'll be able to sip on my favorite Thai beer to squelch the fire of these delicious dishes. read more

You can't write a review until you're done with the meal, and then you have to take the tea to-go.. Not being able to enjoy it with your food. It's just silly. Why not give us the tea and then charge us for it if we don't uphold our end of the bargain? (By the way we did not stick around to post a quick review for a free tea. We were quite eager to leave by the end of the meal.) Very disappointed in the subpar service, especially since the restaurant was not busy. What the hell happen to this place??? There's gotta be a change in owners. I will not be going back after our experience today. Couple months ago, 4 stars. Superb service, friendly, and great quality in food. The energetic waitress that used to be there was amazing at taking care of her customers and being attentive. She's no longer there anymore with her friendly smile and service. Went in with co workers, plenty of empty seats with no waitress to greet us. After a few minutes, the bus boy sat us down. He was nice and friendly. We had to ask for water... for WATER. Then things went downhill. They gave us soup thinking we were going to get the lunch special, but we thought it was just a nice gesture (like bread and butter). We ordered our food. I usually get the crab fried rice and they used to give me a lot of crushed peanut, which I had to ask for 3 times. They give me a small amount and told me they were going to charge more if I asked for me. They've never ever done this before. It's crushed peanuts... really? So I pass the offer. Come to find out, one of the co worker's tomatoes were rotten. ROTTEN. Then another co worker found a black piece of tomato he's already eaten. WHAT THE HELL HAPPEN TO THIS PLACE? I ask for the manager and the nice older lady that was there when I used to love the restaurant came over. I showed her the rotten pieces of the tomatoes and she apologized for it and offered to take the food away. Not having time, my co-workers said don't worry about it. Then she tells us she didn't charge for the soup and said sorry. Uh... excuse me.. we didn't even order the soup. You gave it to us from the beginning. She said sorry and tried to walk away with a full bill on our table. I HAD to tell her that she should take off their rotten food off the bill. With no resistance, she agreed. I just couldn't believe I had to tell her that she shouldn't charge us for the rotten food they served us. Anyways... all in all.. I used to LOVE this place. I brought a lot of people to this restaurant for some awesome Thai. Now it's in the "never go back" list for me. Whatever change happened was bad... very bad. read more

This place gets 5 stars from meh. Why??? The lady is so NICE! Her sweet voice haunts me. It's a constant reminder to come back and eat more amazing Thai food. She is super attentive and makes sure you are enjoying your visit. She is the epitome of excellent customer service. Went here for dinner and lunch and I enjoyed their specials. Their specials consist of A LOT of food, so come here hungry! It is usually a main dish with side of rice and soup and salad. Their larb is not seasoned with lime, so I request a side of lime wedges and squeeze it all over my larb. I love larb. I love lime. It's a match made in heaven. The yellow curry is amazing. I am hesitant to say it's the best curry around because I haven't tried everything yet, but for now....I WILL! The curry is amazing here. You won't regret it if you try it. I also ordered the seafood plate and it was delicious. The flavoring is sweet and savory and it's served with a side of rice. It looks intimidating when it arrives to your table, but it's mostly veggies and protein and that stuff is good for you! ;) You can make your food spicier with the chili flakes located next to the wall. DISAPPOINTING! Ran out of Thai Tea for lunch special and the soup was cold. Charged me extra $ for using my debit card. One of their servers with the darker skin tone asked me if I had cash however did NOT mention that they will be charging extra when I wanted to use debit card instead. I called her out and complained about yet she kept repeating that I didn't have cash. Made me feel like it was completely my fault. Thai Corner was packed while we were there and with the great reviews, everything was on the up and up. The rice, spring roll and salad were all tastey and fresh. This is the Thai spot we frequent, the only reason that I am putting up this review is because I believe it's better to support good mom and pop restaurants than chains like Pei Wei to get your Asian food fix in the Lake Forest/Laguna Hills area. Where do I start.... If you are a party of more than 4, avoid this place. It takes forever for them to try to make room for more than 4. And if they can't fit you, they will squeeze 6 people to one table that sits 4. Avoid coming here from 11:30-1:30. It took them 10mins to take our order, another 25mins to get our food, and another 10mins to get our check. Also, they forgot to make my dish so I ate after all my co-workers finished their food. Did I ask them about my food before it happened? Of course! I was starving!! The waiter told me "it's coming it's coming. next next" and did he check? no. A male sitting next to us waited 25mins for his food and ended up walking out since it was taking them too long to get the food out. Fantastic Thai Cuisine. Went there some weeks ago with my girlfriend. We ordered the Crying Tiger and the Rama's delight. Rama's Delight- This dish really made my day; Rama's Delight was a nice selection of vegetables cooked in a sweet peanut sauce. What won me over (other than the flavor) was the thick white onions. If your as big of an onion fan as I am, this dish is definitely for you. Crying Tiger- Due to all of the positive reviews on Yelp, my girlfriend chose to get the Crying Tiger entree. The meat had a good flavor, also the dish was accompanied with tasty semitransparent sauce. I usually don't eat beef, so I was not as thrilled about flavor as she was. Both entrees were on there Special Lunch menu which came with Thai Tea, rice, an egg roll, and a side salad all for about six dollars. Service was quick; which is great for those people who are on a lunch break. Despite being a small hole in the wall restaurant has a nice ambiance.
