When I was back in Architectural school there was a person...one day I shall visit Columbus IN. I did and had late lunch at Thai Connection. The place was clean, bright and airy, few occupied tables. I was seated immediately. After a few minutes I ordered Crispy Rolls and Namtok Beef salad (medium spice). The rolls were thin, crispy wrapped vegtable rolls - good. The beef salad was good but the beef was a little on the chewy side. Not bad for a Thai place in America's heartland. I was pleasantly surprised. read more

So good! Had the chicken satay with peanut sauce and the Pad Thai. Both were delicious and would definitely eat here again when I'm in town.

I was recommended this place from a friend based on the Tom Yum soup, and it did not disappoint. We were all serviced the soups with our lunch special - and it was I think my favorite part of my meal. We also got the Red Curry, the Pineapple Fried Rice, and the Kao Padd and all were delicious. Great Thai food at a great value. During lunch you can get an entree + vegetarian Tom Yum soup + vegetarian crispy roll for $11. Those apps are more than just throw-ins. They really taste good! My entree was the Panaeng Curry at the medium spice level. The spice was noticeable but comfortable. However as one with a moderate spice palette, I wouldn't recommend going spicier. Finally! Fresh noodles instead of dry/reconstituted noodles! I have been wishing for fresh noodles in my Thai noodle dishes for so long! It makes a huge difference! I have not found any in the local Louisville area. Thai Connection has fresh noodles! My lunch order of Pad Sieuw doesn't look exciting. But those chewy fresh noodles were spicy, sweet and salty; exactly like I had hoped they'd be. They offer about 5 or 6 levels of spice: 0 to Thai Spicy...this is another way to know the place is authentic! I was brave enough to go to Spicy...2 levels below Thai Spicy. I can report that it is indeed the most hot I can handle. I ate all of it...then had to order the same thing to savor later...lol...it was that tasty. They also have a Thai ginger hot tea that is spicy/strong and sweetened just enough. I really enjoyed it, too. Service was friendly and efficient. I would definitely come back for more! read more

Very uninspired Thai food. Ordered the Padd Thai (red flag, they don't know how to spell Pad Thai). Received a large helping of noodles with little sauce, chicken or vegetables. The Fresh Roll was a clump of iceberg lettuce. The quality of ingredients was fine, but not at all authentic Thai. Relatively expensive too and I live in Chicago. read more

Thai Connection is one of our favorite spots in Columbus for a date or to take friends. Their medium is just enough spice to be flavorful but it gets exponentially hotter as you go from hot to Thai Hot. The service is excellent and we've never had to wait. I've had a few different dishes there but nothing hits the spot on a rainy day like a big bowl of Tom Yum soup. Here in Columbus for a work trip and a colleague took me here for dinner. We got the crab rangoon which was so nice and cheesy. My colleague got the pineapple fried rice as his main and I tasted it. It tasted really fresh. I got the panang curry with soft tofu which was delicious. They really get the spice level right. I have a high tolerance for spicy food and their extra hot level was good enough for me. Service was good and the ambience was that of a cosy neighbourhood thigh place. Will visit again. read more

Visited TC with a friend for lunch one weekday. Tip: they were busy with a line out the door at noon, so be prepared! That being said, the employees were quick to get everyone seated, including us. We chose to sit at the bar since the place was pretty full and we were attended to quickly. They do have some nice lunch specials which include soup and a small egg roll for $11. I chose pad Thai and I my friend chose pad pak. I appreciated that you can sub out brown rice for white, and there were many vegetarian options here. Our food arrived quickly and I really enjoyed the appetizer soup. It was spicy but flavorful. The egg roll was good but nothing spectacular. I did enjoy the pad Thai which was served with crushed peanuts on the side. The waitress took note that I wanted a vegetarian preparation and I was appreciative of that. My friend was also quite pleased with her meal, as well. It took us a couple extra minutes to pay, but at this point the restaurant was completely full, and the hostess was packing up a very large take out lunch order. I've been in for lunch twice. The short version is that it is an incredible value. The restaurant is usually very busy at lunch but, if you are solo, you can sit at the bar instantly. There's no surprise as to why lunch is so popular. Lunch is $11 and includes soup and a crispy roll. The soup is good but the crispy roll leaves a little to be desired. One of the two visits, the roll tasted like the oil really needed to be changed. I tried the padd seuw and padd thai. I initially tried the hot and then tried the thai hot. The thai hot had some flavor but was still not overwhelmingly hot. Service is also fairly quick. I think I was in and out in under 30 minutes both times. Assuming you can find parking, this is a top choice in Columbus for a quick lunch. read more

We've eaten here twice during the last two weeks and both times they were very good. That have an eleven dollar lunch special that includes soup and spring roll with your entry. I had the Kao Padd with chicken. Excellent. If you're in a hurry avoid 1130 to 1 during the week. They get slammed with Cummins and other downtown business employees. read more

We popped into this tasty little spot during our day of Yelp event hopping in Columbus, Indiana. I've had Thai Connection on my list for quite some time and loved that its downtown location made it easily walkable from the rest of Columbus' architecture spots, visitors center and attractions. During my visit to Thai Connection, I ordered the ka man ghai (yes! so excited to see they had this on the menu - hard to find in Indiana) and fresh tofu spring rolls. Both were delicious and the waitress handled my seafood/fish allergy very well. Our only complaint was that the waitress was hard to flag down and forgot part of our order which made timing weird between each person's meal. We visited on the weekend but it looks like they offer some reasonable lunch deals throughout the week. The atmosphere is cozy and well decorated and I loved the mural painted on the back wall by the bathrooms. read more

Warning- portions are ENORMOUS - could have shared each dish three ways. Perfectly prepared and seasoned and a good offering of drinks to pair with a very large menu. Crab Rangoons and Thai Toast as appetizers were also excellent, but we realized we shouldn't have ordered them once we saw the entree size. Our server was very attentive and helpful with suggestions. Columbus has offered up some delicious food in a town I never considered a foodie area. The Tom Ka has tomato's in it which made it a little sweeter than I am use to but it was still good. I recommend adding white rice to the soup to make it heartier. The large soup is big enough for two to share or three if your eating as an appetizer. The heat scale is hotter than I expected and medium-hot is about all I would recommend. I really like the #80 which was a peanut curry. I was really surprised to find good authentic thai in this small town and would recommend it to others. read more

I've been several times for lunch and dinner and the food and service have always been wonderful. The bar area is gorgeous and the mixed drinks are phenomenal. I love that they serve on fiestaware. Thai connection. Where do I even start. I love love love this place. I always go during lunch. It's like $9 or something and you get a soup a roll and then pick a course. I always get the Chicken Pad Thai - Hot. Their hot isn't hot like some other nearby Thai restaurants so I would say you're safe to up a level of the spice if you want. Like I said I go around lunch time and I usually have the same server. He's great. On top of it and really helpful. Also the food is always ridiculously fast. Anyways check them out! read more

Many Thai restaurants make me look forward to eating the leftovers. Not Thai Connection's food. It was ok, but a bit weird. We decided after thinking about the experience for a long time what we might say. Here it is: Manhattan prices, shopping mall-quality food. We don't say this lightly; our experience was different than other reviewers. We ordered their $8.50 Crab Rangoon. Meh. Then one order each of Pad Thai Woonsen, one with chicken, medium, the other with tofu, and spiced Thai hot. They didn't turn out that way. Medium spiced is for small tender children. "Thai hot" should require at least two glasses of water to chill you down. Nope. Still more weird that the dishes were differently composed, not just the protein, but even the veggies used. Stranger still was the fact that the dishes tasted, well, sweet-- as though someone had put hoisin into them. Blah. They weren't bad, and eventually, we even ate the leftovers, remarking that they were just strange, and about 20% more expensive than other Thai restaurants we love. I was impressed. Those who have been following my adventures know that I always order Pad See Ewe (spelled Padd Seuw here) on my first visit to a Thai restaurant. I have to say this is one of the top ones I've tried in Central Indiana (I'm up to 19 now). Huge portion to justify the upper range price. I like that I get to select my protein and heat level (chicken and medium for me.) The chicken was still tender, not dry. The heat was just enough to tingle without making my sinuses get angry. Really nice texture on the noodles and lots of flavor. Yum! I also had the Tom Yum w Chicken and it also had a medium heat (that's the level they serve it at.) The mushroom pieces were excellent and complemented the taste and texture of the other solids in the soup. And just because it's medium, don't think it can't sneak up on your taste buds. I swallowed just a bit down my wind pipe and I was VERY aware of the heat! ha! I had the Jasmine Tea and it comes out in a cup with a tea bag that they will refill the hot water for you if you wish. I was okay with just the single cup. Inside, the place feels upscale and the service was efficient while being friendly. Thai Connection - a hidden gem in downtown Columbus! I've been to this restaurant thrice over the course of several years and the quality remains the same and crowd gets bigger with every visit. They use great amount and variety of veggies in their stir fry dishes, are flexible about food allergies and/or dislikes, and always serve hot and fresh food in minutes. Probably one of the best Thai restaurants in this state. Truly a gem in downtown Columbus that serves wonderful Thai dishes that are sometimes hard to find. Stop being basic and get out of your comfort zone. Venture out of the usual pad Thai and try something new. You need to order the shrimp Rangoon, roasted crispy duck in tamarind sauce, and basil fried rice. You can't go wrong. read more

Perfect portion of meat, just sweet enough, and medium spice was exactly that, medium. This place shares an owner with Thai Spice in Greenwood as Dina had mentioned in her review, which I think is arguably the best "nearby" Thai food. Great decor - Super chic, especially for downtown CBUS. The decor is nicer than Tre Bicchieri but not as nice as Henry Social Club. Great prices - For awesome food and their gorgeous decor, I think its a bargain! Location - I work a block away, so location is fantastic for me. For everyone else, its got plenty of convenient parking on Washington, just north of where downtown CBUS gets "busy". For the community, I am ecstatic that this place opened up! Now CBUS has a nice array of Asian cuisine. We have Apna for Indian, Pho Shiki for Viet, Taku for Japanese, Mark Pi's for Chinese and Thai Connection for Thai. You can choose your heat, and I have eaten there several times. There isn't a bad dish and they have a great crowd.

We're still working our way through the menu...Literally everything is delicious. The new special PADD NAM MUN HOY is a delicious mix of shrimp, scallops and asparagus. We recently tried the GUAYTEL WITH BEEF,a delicious flavorful soup that is entirely different than the milder chicken version we had before. We definitely recommend the beef guaytel. The CRAB RANGOON is also creamy and delicious. The DUCK WITH TAMARIND SAUCE special is still one of our favorite dishes anywhere. You really can't go wrong here. Everything here was very delicious!! We started with the vegetable potstickers (steamed) and the sauce was really deep and flavorful. The Number 58 with wide noodles was so delicious and reminded me of drunken noodles. I've had other places, with that sort of grilled taste, and nice big slices of vegetables and meat. I got the green curry and chose hot, and the spice level was true to the label! It was perfect, because while my nose was definitely running, it had a lot of great flavor, all the vegetables were very tender, and it was just what I wanted. Glad to see that they don't under-spice things - just make sure you know that when you're ordering! They were pretty busy so service was a little bit slow but definitely understandable. I do wish they had a caffeine-free tea or other warm drink that wasn't sweetened but I might try the boba next time as a treat. We will definitely want to come back! read more

I have to admit, I do not know Thai food very well to speak from experience, but my family loves this place. The pineapple fried rice blew me away--being served in half of a fresh pineapple! The servers have always been wonderful, especially the young man who is often bar tending--he's been very helpful in advising us about the different entrees on the menu. I'd love to mention a favorite, but I haven't had a dish there I didn't like!! Was there again last night and had the Padd Priew Wan with shrimp. Very wonderful flavor but I got it "as is" mild. With the sweetness of the grape and pineapple I might try it with a little of the "spicy" next time. My son enjoyed the softshell crab and got the sauce for "Thai hot".
