fter running errands and I decided to come stop by at Thai cafe. As soon as I walked in it was pretty busy. It took 5 minutes to be seated but it beats waiting for 30-45 min at other restaurants. There's no reason why to be upset over that, right? I'm not sure why people would complain about the wait time. I admire the little canopies they built to reserve a more private dining area. It was my first time here so I asked our server for their popular dishes. They recommended either curries (yellow or paneng curry), mint leaves, spicy noodle, orange chicken, and  a variety of other dishes. But this time I went ahead and tried their spicy noodle, paneng curry, and mint leaves. For a busy place, the food relatively came out pretty quick. And came out to be delicious and fresh. So, being vegetarian and having had Thai Food all over Southern California and beyond, this place ROCKS! The food is fantastic, always consistent and the staff is great! All I have to do is say my name when I call and they know exactly what I want, every single one of them! They yellow curry with Tofu is the best ever and the pad see ewe is the perfect blend of noodles, veggies and sauce. The Tofu Sate will make the biggest Tofu Haters into believers! The peanut sauce and cucumber/carrot garnish are a perfect complement to the tofu. The food is always fresh and full of flavor.........by far my favorite place in Lancaster. I have a place in Long Beach as well and there are tons of GREAT restaurants there but for Thai, I vote Thai Cafe in Lancaster! read more

Use to love this place- this time- service was snail slow (I had to ask multiple times for minor things), there was a cockroach under the booth next to us, and my Kung Pao Chicken was 3/4 zucchini (??? what the heck?) and burnt tasting. Went in with some friends and family due to our favorite Thai Restaurant being closed for because of a holiday. Ordered the Pad Thai and Yellow Chicken Curry. While we waited for the food the kind server brought us soup, I believe it was the Crispy Rice Soup. I personally didn't like the soup, but my siblings did. Then out food came out and the food was not the best we've had. The chicken in the curry was a bit tough but besides that it was fine. The Pad Thai could've used more sauce and for some reason the noodles were chewy. This is not a bad review just sharing our experience. Overall we enjoyed our meal. I went here based off reviews from other users. I was nervous trying this place as Thai places can be hit or miss. I'm glad that I decided to go here. Very good food and very friendly wait staff. I had the Mahanandi Curry (curry with pineapples and peanuts) and Thai Iced Tea. The curry was very flavorful and I even had enough for lunch the next day. While on a business trip, I pulled up Yelp! from my hotel in order to find a decent place to eat. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the nearest (non-fast) food was a highly rated Thai restaurant. The location is somewhat dubious at first, being in the same strip mall as the local Target, and surrounded by "For Lease" retail space. Once you step inside though, you forget all of that nonsense. The menu is quite large, and took me several minutes to settle on a dish. I ended up choosing the Red Mountain, a spicy beef dish with veggies & cashews. The soup that accompanies the entree left a lot to be desired (bland, with tons of filler - celery, rice, & cabbage). As soon as the entree came (1 min later...), I forgot all about the soup. The dish looked delicious on the plate. The red sauce had a "beware" hue to it, so I was very glad to find that it comes with a huge bowl of rice. I'm thinking to myself, "This must be pretty spicy if I need that much rice to soak it up." I was disappointed to find the dish very tame on the spicy scale despite the "asterisk" notation on the menu which is usually meant to scare away the weak. The first bite was, well, somewhat perplexing. There was a distinctly fishy taste despite the lack of any sea life on my plate. Maybe it was from the mushrooms, or maybe something else entirely. Either way, nothing stopped me from eating the whole thing, so I guess it was not nearly as bad as I am making it sound. All in all, a good meal. Not up to my overly high Thai food standards, but probably worth another stop the next time I am in town. At the end of the meal, my unofficial spice meter was way, way low. I only drank 1/4 of my glass of water... ------------------------------- OK, I decided to return the next night - I certainly did not have any better recommendations, and there were definitely some other dishes that I probably should have chosen last night instead. I immediately knew that I had made the right decision when I walked in, welcomed by a "You're Back!" from the wait staff. The soup? Still the same. Take a couple slurps to quell any hunger, and wait for the main course. This time I went for the Paneang Curry. What a difference a day makes... Basically, curried beef with green & red peppers. I made sure to ask for a "higher-than-normal" spicy level, and it did not disappoint. The plate was spicy without being fiery, and the coconut-based sauce was delicious. On this second night, I left Thai Cafe very happy, and will gladly return at a later time. At least now that I know what / how to order. read more

This seems to be a reoccurring issue and I'm surprised management/owners haven't done any thing to correct it. Don't get me wrong the food is great. But the service is terrible. I've tried to give them my business multiple times and get left on hold for up to 10 minutes to simply place a phone order. On top of waiting almost an hour to pick up my food, I had to wait another 20+ plus minutes at the counter while I was passed multiple times and when I was finally attended to, my food wasn't even packed yet. They need more staff. Better trained, more efficient and aware of the surroundings. Or please don't even offer online/pick up orders. This might be my last time ordering at this restaurant read more

I've never written a restaurant review before, but I've never seen a customer treated so badly in a restaurant before either. A woman ordered some takeout food, and after 15 minutes went up to the counter to ask how much longer. The guy Who was helping her started talking down to her and when she tried to defend herself and told him how disrespectful he was being, he really verbally attacked her. She asked for the manager and he said he was the manager. My brother and I were halfway through our meal and the man was so rude, and then a lady came out from the kitchen and started defending him! We had a delicious meal tonight. We have been eating here for over 10 years, usually for lunch. Every now and they get too busy and slack a little but the food and service is pretty consistent. Went two times in one day.First I was craving Thai tea so I got a lg and was convinced by the nice guy working, that their boba was yummy, so I went for it. Now I usually don't eat boba, I'm not a huge fan and this one still doesn't change my mind, but the Thai tea was delicious,got a huge size lg for $4.Then I went back with my husband 2hrs later to get some of the delicious food I smelled, and it taste just how it smells,delicious! I stopped in the restaurant while shopping to refuel and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a chicken with veggies lunch special which came with a small rice soup and both were very good. Customer service is extremely friendly and the restaurant is well kept, clean, and welcoming. So far I've tried the restaurant twice and again enjoyed very tasty food and will be coming back again in the future. My only disappointment is that they don't deliver. This has slowly but surely become my favorite Thai place in the Antelope Valley. The chicken curry is bomb & the dinner portion is good enough for 2 people (or one very hungry person). Thai Cafe used to be pretty good. But that was a long time ago. Now it's inconsistent. Last night's Pad Thai was dry, lacked flavor, and didn't come with the "spice on the side", as I had requested. On another front, while my son and I waited for our overdue take-out order, we drank a beer while we stood in what seemed to be an out-of-the-way spot, but ultimately were told that we were "in the way". There certainly could have been a better way to phrase it. I blame it on cultural differences. Unless I have no other options, I don't think I'll be going back. read more
