My husband and I live out of town and eat at Thai BBQ whenever we visit. My family loves to eat here as I was growing up food is delicious and at a decent price. We usually order a soup (combination soup, or spicy coconut soup with chicken), a noodle dish (pad see ew or pad thai), and a dinner plate (grilled chicken, satay plate). Lunch specials are great too! They are discounted plates from 11 am to 3 PM that come with a side salad. Come during this time for discounted lunch plates. I came here today around 2 pm because we were craving Thai food, and it seems like all the good Thai spots either close early or weren't nearby. Since this place popped up first and had "Thai BBQ" in the name, I saw BBQ and thought cool let's try. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience from the very beginning. The service was not good. The server and I had trouble understanding each other, so there was definitely a language barrier making it harder to communicate. She also didn't seem familiar with the menu since she couldn't answer basic questions. Just ordering was very frustrating. The tables didn't look properly cleaned either, which I should have taken as a red flag. As for the food, it just didn't do it for me. The peanut sauce was extremely watery. The garlic short ribs were honestly the worst part. They tasted undercooked and not good. I took one bite and I didn't want any more. We ended up eating mostly rice just to feel full. The shrimp dish was also disappointing. When we asked for something spicy, we were basically directed to the chili already on the table. The dish itself was mostly green beans with maybe 6 or 7 pieces of shrimp, and the shrimp tasted very basic. I also ordered the spicy beef combo plate, which came with steamed rice, but it wasn't spicy at all. I had to add a ton of chili just to get some flavor. The beef was probably the best part of the meal, but even that was just okay. Overall, I regret not checking the reviews beforehand because it definitely reflected the experience we had. Been here plenty of times and the one in glendale and it was OK, not the best but just OK. Usually will come here for their beef satay as this is the only one in the menu that I really like,,, the rest are OK! Everything was going good until I bit into a little piece of bone in the chicken fried rice. Totally ruined the rest of my meal. The service was attentive, and the interior was clean and comfortable. The beef satay and chicken noodles were good. I would probably go back and hope my experience with the bone was isolated, but I'm in no hurry. Parking gets really congested. Best value for Thai food ANYWHERE. Thai food is generally expensive. Why? It's almost no different from Chinese ingredients. Thai BBQ just had good, hearty food at good prices. The lunch special? Can't beat it. Half a chicken and rice for about $15. You'll spend more than that on a value meal at McDonalds. The service? Who cares if it's slow. That lady is busting her butt. I enjoy Southeast Asian cuisine once in a while and Thai BBQ offers some chicken, pork, beef and noddle dishes. Pad Thai is an excellent noodles dish which can be paired with shrimp etc...their Sate' or beef skewers are to die for, too. These are like the Yakitori from Japan which I enjoyed while studying in Hokkaido on a U.S. Fulbright Scholarship. If you're having lunch, I suggest the Baby Back Ribs BBQ with fried rice and shrimp or better yet, replace it with the Chicken BBQ. Or if you're feeling curry, you ca. also enjoy a lighter version of their seafood curry (Thai style). They also offer the Seafood fried rice with fish, squid, shrimp etc... First time at this location, I've been to the one in DTLA. This location is in a busy strip mall but has dedicated parking. It can be tight during certain times so just beware. I phoned in our order but since it had been some years since I ate here, I accidentally ordered the wrong protein for my hubby's phad thai but they fixed it when I got there! The man at the counter was very nice about it and I appreciated him making it right. I made sure to grab the to-go menu so I won't make any mistakes next time. My drunken noodles were better than I remembered and I'll order this dish again. I'll pass on the fried wonton because they were just ok. If I could have given a zero I would have. The rice was sour an the chicken inside tasted spoiled. I work near there but I live an hour away. I just called an the lady told me to bring the plate back so she can taste it. Absolutely horrible. If I get sick I will be at the emergency room then on the phone Monday morning with the health department an bbb. I will also be contacting code enforcement. As I'm typing my mouth is watering. This happens to us frequently but it's one of those places where it's not busy yet but when one party comes, everyone else starts coming in. So luckily we got seating quickly because boy were we starving! We ordered a couple things: Crab fried rice 4/5 - this is yummy and they have their own flavor unlike most thai places i order my crab fried rice from. i wish they added more crab meat. I used to go to the one in Glendale all the time and was surprised to see they had a location here in the valley. Everything we ordered was super affordable and can honestly serve 3-4 people. We definitely had left overs for the next day and were pleased to get our moneys worth! I was really impressed with the service at this location. Sat right away and the food was ready under 10 minutes. This nice lady waitress kept checking in with us and even packed our leftovers for us. So nice! Food is always so good and very comforting: Tom Yum Soup - Spicy and sour soup base with shrimp and little mushrooms, my favorite! Not super spicy at this location. Spare Ribs Dinner Plate - Best Asian ribs I've ever tasted and pairs so well with the sweets and sour sauce and their pickled jalapeños. Comes with fried rice which is soooo good. This is one of the places I like to go to specifically for their beef satay, fried rice & peanut sauce. The service can be pretty hectic for the most part and may take a while if you do decide to do dine in. For the most part I usually get to go because of that. When I do decide to dine in the ambiance is okay if you can move past the cleanliness at times. Tried and tested. Thai BBQ has the best chicken and pork Bbq in town. We also love their satay and the seafood soup. Our main go to House Special is S8, S2 and S1 but then again they're all good! These are just our favorites. Lunch specials are now $11.75 (from 11AM to 3PM on weekdays) House specials range from $14 - $17.50, still worth it. Delicious food and excellent customer service. My family and I frequent Thai BBQ whether it's for pick up or dine in. We haven't been here for a little over a year so we decided to call in for lunch pick up today. We are so glad we did. As always the fried rice is flavorful and it was still steaming hot when we picked up. The S8 dearest crab was as good as we remembered it to be. It was full of seafood (shrimp and crab) and ground meat. The orange sauce compliments this meal very well. The S7 chicken sate and beef sate was grilled just right and was not over cooked. Lastly, the customer service they provide at this place is always excellent. The lady at the front counter remembered us and told us it was nice to see us back after a long time.
