My friend got the Wings & Fries Combo, $23.15 and I decided on the 3-Bone Meal Deal, $24.25. The Wings & Fries come with your choice of seasoning and she got the garlic-Parmesan - which she liked a lot. Her wings were tender and tasty with the traditional in-house sauce. This also came with a soft drink, water or bottled iced tea. The 3-Bone Meal Deal, comes with 3 super tender pork ribs and your choice of sauce. This is fork tender! The traditional bbq sauce is quite tasty! This combo comes with two sides, I got the Mac n' cheese - yummy, but there was, weirdly, corn in it. Also got the pineapple coleslaw which is just so-so - very mild and not much flavor. I ordered the unsweetened pure leaf iced tea. The experience was just okay. The ribs and mac and cheese lacked flavor--almost as if they were hesitant to season the food properly. The ribs didn't have the smoky, grilled taste I was expecting, more like they were oven-baked rather than slow-cooked on a BBQ. As someone from the South, I've had my fair share of authentic soul food and BBQ, and unfortunately, this place didn't live up to the hype that its reviews promised. Considering the price, I was hoping for a more flavorful experience. You'd think they'd offer more complimentary sauce, but that wasn't the case. I was also expecting charred or barbecued wings, but instead, they were just fried wings with barbecue sauce. They were still flavorful though, and probably the best item I ordered. As for the mac and cheese--DO NOT ORDER. If you're familiar with soul food or Southern comfort food, you'll know this isn't it. It was probably the most disappointing part of the meal. While I really love the BBQ here, my complaint is the pricing and how they charge. When I look at a beef rib combo listed at $58 I assume that means the price includes some sort of side dish and it doesn't, you have to pay for each one. Maybe what he should consider is offering a 1/2 rack and include a side dish and price accordingly. Same for the full rack, adjust the pricing to icnxlude 1 side. Belly Rub is great. They have amazing BBQ and other items. All of them are great. The prices are a tad high, but the quality is there so it is worth it. Parking is easy and the place is very pretty and super clean. The service is nice and fast. You can eat there or take away. I think they do delivery as well. Their ribs are the best. We love their beef back ribs and baby pork ribs. The beef, as always has more meat and is delicious, but if I had to pick one I would go with the pork. They are so very tender and cooked so well. They accommodated my mustard allergy and that is greatly appreciated but the coleslaw tasted off. And my bfs coleslaw had too much mustard loaded on it so he didn't eat it. I did not personally care for the Mac and sliders but I could tell they were made competently just not to my personal taste, if that makes sense. Same goes for the sauce - I prefer thicker and smokier. BBQ is very personal! But you could tell everything was made with care. I am especially impressed the fries were so crispy for being delivered. Also your comps currently have better flavor (actually smoked never grilled) and more authentic man N cheese and smokey flavor that can only come from smoking the meats. and their price is better. I can feed a family of four at my spots, where as at Belly Rub, its going to cost a tad bit more with less flavor. I like most people will drive 15 miles out of my way for great BBQ. I just had the best bbq beef rib I've had in a decade. I've grown used to ordering a beef rib that tasted like a piece of leather stapled to a bone. This was the complete opposite. I recently visited Belly Rubb, after reading a few reviews. I wanted to grab some chicken wings for dinner, while I watched the football game. I called the restaurant and spoke with the owner, Walter. He was polite and professional. Walter stayed on the phone and guided me to his location. When I arrived, he greeted me at my car and took my order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is no indoor dining and you can order online or by phone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered 12 wings. I was pleasantly surprised to find out, that I could have my choice of flats or drums. I ordered all flats, 6 without seasoning, but with sauce and 6 lemon pepper. I also ordered a large Mac n Cheese. Walter then explained to me how he prepares his beef ribs and he convinced me to try them. My order was ready in the amount of time he told me, (30) minutes. When I got my food home, I tried each wing and they were cooked to perfection. They were moist and tender and not cooked to death. They had a glossy shine and looked like they had been lacquered with sauce. The sauce was also good and had a sweet and tangy taste. The lemon pepper wings were seasoned well and had great flavor. The beef rib was fall off the bone tender. It was full of smokey flavor, especially having not been smoked. It was prepared by using the sous vide method and it was delicious. Walter knows how to cook meats and poultry to perfection. The Mac n Cheese was creamy and cheesy with a good cheese pull. He added a little Gorgonzola cheese on top which gave it a nice bite. The coleslaw that accompanied the rib was rich and tangy. He used purple cabbage, which was a good change compared to how other coleslaws are prepared. All n all, I thoroughly enjoyed my entire meal and will be back again soon. Walter's restaurant is a small jewel in the San Fernando Valley. If you want to make a change from your regular barbecue place and try something new. I recommend you give Belly Rubb a try, you won't be disappointed. read more
