Tom Yum Soup

This is absolute disgusting. Don't don't bother ordering from here. Drunken noodles tasted bad and sweet. It should be savory not sweet. As for the soup only had two pieces of shrimp. I spent almost a 100 on this order. Not authentic at all. I can't even get my money back.

I was surprised to receive this as shrimp tempura.... It's fried shrimp but it's definitely NOT. Tempura . Very disappointed! I also order drunken noodles and Nam Sod which were respectable.

Walking in, this is a small cool spot with great ambiance. There was no one else inside when we got there, but within 10 minutes of being there I saw about 4 different people come in for pick up orders. That gave me the feeling this place was going to be good. They had a nice selection of beers on tap, I went with Headway by Counterweight. The salad with the peanut sauce was great. I'm normally not a fan of the Thai peanut sauce but this had s little extra sweetness to it snd I really enjoyed it. For my meal I got the duck tamarind with brown rice. I had never had duck before and was nervous but wanted to try something new. It was amazing! Even in the Thai sweet chili sauce the duck was still super crispy and cooked to perfection. Our waiter was also very friendly and made it a very enjoyable experience. I'll be back here next time I visit Bristol!!

Today is November 25th 2020 and for those who aren't aware this restaurant is pick up/to go orders only. Currently there is no inside dining here. It's a shame because this is such a beautifully decorated restaurant to enjoy. The food though is phenomenal though. Absolutely delicious. Rest of the review to come soon.

Drunken Noodle with duck

Thai Avenue is a fantastic restaurant! It is nicely decorated, comfortable, and has excellent food and moderate prices. Combine that with friendly service and all of my criteria for dining out are met!! My husband and I enjoyed curry puffs, drunken noodles with duck, and pad Thai with duck. It was all fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. No need to add any salt, sriracha, etc. The duck was nicely crisped on the outside and tender on the inside. Both portions of noodles were large as well. Thai Avenue has a huge menu. Next time I will try the wonton pad Thai and the drunken friend rice. Can't wait to return!!

Authentic food. I was amazed to find a restaurant that didn't Americanize thier food. It eas super delicious restaurant at Bristol City Satti was very delicious 5/5 juicy and tender Duck with fried noodles was good 4/5 i just felt it needed more spices. Salad was the best salad i ate with punts sauce. 5/5 The Tom Kha Soup is my favorite at all Thai restaurants, this one was the best and perfectly made. 5/5 Definitely, i am coming here again!

Eclectic Southeast Asian decor make Thai Avenue homey and modern.

Thai Avenue Kitchen occupies an unassuming spot along the main road, but the interior of this little surprise is unique and homey with a perfect little bar in front. The low-lit dining areas are filled with eccentric chairs and a mix of mass produced art with more sentimental pieces inspired by the owners. The quiet atmosphere is a perfect spot to enjoy an intimate dinner, just as I was able to do with my wife on a cozy Monday night. Once you get past the great vibe, you are then able to find the true jewel of this humble spot, the food. We started with an excellent appetizer of the Bags of Gold. Think fried chicken but instead of greasy skin the crunch comes from the lightly fried wonton wrapping a delicious mix of chicken inside. I enjoyed an excellent Tom Kha soup prior to my meal. The mix of lime and lemongrass flavors made it a wonderful precursor for my meal. The menu is complete with all of your favorite Thai dishes (i.e. curries, noodles, fried rice) but have an extensive selection of house specialties. This being our first visit we went for favorite staples of fried rice and curry. I had a Massaman curry with carrots and potatoes (not spicy even though the menu warned it was). The taste of the currey was sweet and aromatic; the accompanying pork and vegetables were wonderful as well. My wife had the Crab Fried Rice. It was on-par with the best I have ever tasted. The crab was a sweet undertone to the spices and the Chinese sausage. In summary, Thai Avenue Kitchen is a great venue with lots of character but the best part of this local spot is the menu. We look forward to coming back and trying out the bar and more dishes.

Halfway through our meal, I knew we were having a five star experience on so many levels. The service was stellar -the young lady who filled our water glasses and took our order was wonderful, and the kitchen runner who delivered our food made friendly, smiling, and efficient hustle seem effortless. The décor is gorgeous-lots of artwork and paintings and designs everywhere you look. Just as gorgeous as the décor is the food presentation. Just look at how beautiful the Thai Avenue Sampler is https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/thai-avenue-kitchen-and-bar-bristol?select=bo2-EkN-hp1mibnm-f0Gmg For $10.95, we had a mind blowing order of two chicken satay skewers, two spring rolls, four bags of gold (Deep fried and marinated grounded chicken stuffed in wonton wrap), and three shumai. It was served with three different sauces, the best of which was clearly the peanut sauce paired with the chicken satay. It had a deep peanut flavor and was pretty much perfect. The dish was a beauty to look at and was plain old delicious. But wait there's more, check out our orders of Chicken Pad Thai https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/thai-avenue-kitchen-and-bar-bristol?select=7fACE5Y2rCQ3Py6k-ASPuw and Spicy Udon Noodles with Seafood https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/thai-avenue-kitchen-and-bar-bristol?select=pd2-Eglhp_2gToBYn3cu_w They were drop dead gorgeous to look at and delicious! My Udon was loaded with seafood - big scallops, big shrimp, big pieces of squid, and lots of mussels. The quality of the seafood was outstanding. The shrimps and scallops were plump and perfectly cooked, the squid was tender and not rubbery, and my oh my were the mussels PERFECT! They were big and tender and perfect in every way. The Udon noodles were in a spicy sauce that was wonderful, and mixed among the seafood were a garden of perfectly cooked vegetables- onions, red and green peppers, scallions, and basil Our dinner ran under $40 and we took home plenty of the Udon and Pad Thai. I am pretty stingy with 5 star reviews, but this one was an easy call. Try it and see. Oh and by the way, it gets even better because you get 15% off with your Yelp check-in!

Thai Ave. Is the newest of the few Thai restaurants in town. I have tried them once for sit down lunch, but usually get takeout. Decor is modern and clean. My go to is the Thai Ave. Sampler, I love the variety and Veggie green curry, just right on mild heat...both are delicious! I have tried Pad Thai to go, and drunken noodles and both were a sticky mess of clumped up noodles upon arriving... won't do that again! For sit down, they are fine. They usually seem flustered when picking up and have mixed up my order once, mixed up my name once, but overall I enjoy this thai place over the others near by.

I have been eating Thai food for a very long time. And I know the taste of the food and it's texture. In this restaurant I ordered Tomyum soup and this is what they gave me which taste nothing like tomyum. Disgusting taste!!! And when I mentioned this to the server she was like ya!! No clue what I was talking about!!!

Beautiful decor and lovely atmosphere

I don't like to share poor reviews but I wanted to share my honest experience…read more The first thing I noticed was the limited parking. When you enter, you walk through a boba tea and sweets area before turning the corner into the restaurant seating, which was a bit unexpected but interesting. When I arrived, I was asked to wait briefly for a group to leave before being seated since the space is very small and there wasn't enough room to pass. Once they moved, I was seated right away, which I appreciated. There were a few cleanliness and service issues that took away from the experience. The table hadn't been fully cleaned and still had spilled flower water on it, with napkins on the floor underneath. We also didn't have napkins or silverware at the table initially, so I grabbed napkins from the other side of the restaurant to wipe the table. I did mention this to the staff, but the table wasn't addressed afterward. The food was okay and had flavor, though it was fairly simple and became repetitive after a few bites. Service overall felt a bit slow, and we waited for a while before someone helped us check out. Overall, the experience was just okay. With a bit more attention to cleanliness and service, I think this place has the potential to be much better.

Place was almost empty of guests…read more I was seated immediately, water served. No noodles with sauce to munch on as I looked over the menu. I decided on an order of chicken wings with Thai sauce, and beef with mixed vegetables in a garlic sauce. The wings were on point, crispy with Thai sauce. Sauce was mild and sweet The beef with mixed vegetables and garlic sauce was awful! Grey beef, looked poached, with mixed vegetables. Veggies but the cabbage were ok, cabbage tasted spoiled. The garlic sauce.... Let's call this jarlic and water, which was so bland, this dish seemed like a dietetic dish! No kick at all! The jasmine rice was bland until I put the remaining chile sauce on it. This was a disappointment, given the restaurant was slow at 12:15 on a Wednesday I expected food with a kick, instead diet bland food was served.

It wasnt bad but definitely an interesting experience…read more Went here with my father. I ordered Pho, he ordered a thai noodle dish. Service was prompt and pretty good. The inside is very "unique" its decorated somewhat like a bad dream mixed with animal pelts. The pho was disappointing. It wasnt rice noodles, it came with nothing on the sides like normal pho (no basil, hoison, bean sprouts, lime etc). When I asked for hoison sauce they brought out an industrial sized bottle that had dried sauce on the sides. I am not sure what to make of this. Nothing was bad, but it was just a weird experience.

This was my first visit, so I ordered cautiously ... only two apps that are typically my favorites in a Thai restaurant. 1) shrimp fresh roll (aka summer roll) 2) tom yum soup Both were good. The fresh roll was the best of the lot and the sauce was excellent. I wish the veggies were a little colder. But that's splitting hairs. The soup was good. Had more funk than spice. Portion was borderline small - but happy I tried it. I will absolutely be back to try more "real" food. I appreciated the service and felt very well taken care of. What keeps me from giving a better score were a few, housekeeping items: 1) while I was pleased to see each table gets a lovely carafe of water, that water is really difficult to drink. It has a metallic and "funky" taste to it. It kind of turned me off to wanting to eat more before I ordered as I was then questioning "is this water in everything?" 2) my shoes kept sticking to the floor. Not out of filth/dirt, but it felt like the soap or floor cleaner they used was somehow still there and sticky. None of this impacted the food. But it put me in a mindset where I didn't really want to order an abundance of food and try it all. To be clear: I will be back. I can't wait to try some other dishes.

They offered curbside pickup and my neighbor asked if I'd pick up something for her after she had surgery. So I decided to give them a shot. My kids and I hadn't had Thai food often, so we found the description on their online menu extremely helpful. The food was excellent, and we all got to try new things we loved. But what impressed me was the genuine friendliness of the owners. Dirk is always welcoming, and makes sure the customers are happy. I dont think I've ever met his wife, as she's always so hard at work in the kitchen. Even on mothers day she works nonstop to keep up with demand. (Business is booming now, thankfully!) They value their employees and occasionally close to celebrate them, and sometimes to attend their childrens' school events, which i think is great. As if Green Papaya wasn't already an amazing restaurant, Dirk has now brought chocolate from Belgium and started a chocolate shop within the restaurant. I went there today for some Easter gifts and couldn't resist picking up some fried ice cream and mango sticky rice.
