I arrived super early since this was my first visit to St. Joseph's Hospital - South. I'm more familiar with the St. Joe's Women's Hospital in Tampa. Fortunately, it was easy to find on Big Bend. There's plenty of parking since the outpatient facility is a building that is separate from the hospital. I walked in and noticed that the labs are to the left while imaging is to the right. I was greeted immediately, signed in, and then took a seat in the waiting area. They called my name and I stepped up to the registration area. It was all very simple. I gave them the script from the doctor. They asked me a couple of questions and then I was taken to a separate waiting area for mammography. The waiting area is comfortable and clean. I didn't have to wait too long for the technician to come out. She gave me a warm cape to change into, and then showed me how to use the dressing room lockers to lock up my personal items. Every single staff member was friendly and professional. It's one of the staff qualities I've seen in all BayCare facilities. They all seem to be happy and friendly. It's almost as if it's a requirement for employment. I love that! Anyway, it was all very efficient. My technician was so awesome! I wish I could remember her name. She was so thorough, and made me feel comfortable every step of the way. Well, as comfortable as a mammogram can be. LOL! She made me laugh, and made me feel so at ease. The scheduling line today was very challenging. The first call not great news, however professionally handled, I was asked to call back as the systems were down. The second call I was told they did not have my orders in the system. Understandable. However as I read off the information on my orders from the doctor, I was asked for ccp codes (really how would I know that when there is nothing on the order that states CCP code). Then I was told that the code for a mammogram and the assessment code didn't match and I had to call my doctor and get it revised and they could not schedule the mammogram.This order form looks exactly the same as every order form I have copies of. Then when I pressed I was told by the scheduling agent that she was not incompetent (words never used by me) and that she was sending me to someone else which of course rang until I was disconnected. The third call was more professional and I was able to schedule my mammogram with only a little pushback i.e. has to be scheduled after 365 days. Which I had to explain ( as I did last year ) that is not the case with my insurance and I understand that is the case with many insurance providers and that's why the scheduler must state that.

I have made many calls to have them refund the money to my credit card and have yet to receive it. The facility gives me the number to their billing department and the billing department says they are waiting on the facility to acknowledge that I am due a refund. It only took them minutes to charge my card, so they need to refund it with that same energy. I'll never go to this urgent care again.

I was impressed with the quick response and feedback! The Imaging staff was so pleasant and understanding of my needs. We discussed the options available to avoid the delay in reading the X-rays for next time. I have been using the BayCare Health Hub in Valrico for a number of years. I moved to Lake Wales several years ago but even though my drive is almost 2 hours, I will continue to go there. The staff is pleasant and efficient and the facility is clean. I have had to call Baycare Imaging in Valrico on 2 separate occasions to request the results of my X-rays. I went to Imaging in enough time to have the results back before my scheduled PCP appointment! These were not complicated X-rays. This happening again is unacceptable. I go to Baycare Heath Hub in Valrico because I trust this business but that trust is quickly fading. Also I called prior to closing hours and the message was they were unable to take my call!
