Interesting hospital. I was there in August and again in November for surgeries. In August I had a…read morevery early arrival time and overall a very pleasant experience. Everything went smoothly from check in, pre op, surgery and post op. I spent the night and received excellent care from a very well staffed and professional nursing team. I provided a very positive review on their web site. My second visit was scheduled late morning at 10:30 arrival. I will never accept a late morning surgery appointment again. First every parking spot was full. A five level garage provided not one open space. Eventually I found a car leaving in front of the women's care entrance. This was at the other end of the hospital from where I was told to enter near the south garage. I had no idea how to get back to the surgery check in. I entered the women's entrance and told the security guard I needed to get back to the south garage entrance. He radioed a man in a golf cart to meet me at the entrance and take me back to the surgery area. I told him the hospital website said there was valet parking near the children's emergency area. He said that was no longer being offered. My surgery lasted longer than the doctor told us and by the time I arrived in recovery and then post op I was the only patient in post op area. The nurses were all leaving and saying good night to other nurses. My nurse was the only one there. The motion lighting in the other tented rooms were turning off. As I was getting dressed to leave the nurse told my wife to bring the car to a different door to pick me up for the drive home. As I had dropped her off at the surgery entrance at 10:30, seven and a half hours earlier, she had no idea where our car was except my description of it parked across from the women's entrance. The nurse was so pleasant and helpful she offered my wife a wheelchair and took her to the security desk to call for the golf cart courtesy driver. Unfortunately, both the nurse and my wife learned that service goes home at 4:00. It's now 6:30. So now the only nurse in post op pushed my wife in a wheelchair the entire length of the hospital to the women's section to get our car. I sat by myself in a chair with now one light on waiting for the nurse to return. There are 6 handicapped parking spaces outside the surgery entrance. And perhaps 10 non handicapped spaces. Arriving late morning you will not find a parking spot. There are no reserved for surgery parking spots. As patients are released the assigned nurses go home and the area pretty much shuts down for the night. Very poor arrangement. The staff readily acknowledges that parking is horrible but apparently that's where it ends. The Doctors have a reserved parking area. The patients including surgeries are left to fend for yourself self. My future hospital needs will be at Tampa General or St Joe South.

Her internal bleeding went undiagnosed for about eight hours despite glaring signs. Once imaging was finally ordered and active internal bleeding was confirmed, surgery was delayed for roughly seven more hours. In the meantime, the doctor ordered mass blood transfusion in an improper way that worsened her condition instead of stabilizing her, while failing to move the central line that was improperly placed and that the radiologist recommended be repositioned. HCA Healthcare has faced no consequences, and there is no way for people researching physicians through the Florida Department of Health (DOH), the medical licensing board, to see what happened to my daughter. Because she was 25, unmarried, and had no children, Florida's 'Free Kill' law strategically blocked me from pursuing legal recourse to ensure the hospital and its physicians are held accountable so the harm does not continue. It was quiet thank goodness, I was received cheerfully and admitted right away, I asked each caretaker their name but have forgotten some, The admitting nurse was amazing and kind, I remember she had dark hair and nice lashes and a cool script tat on her left arm. My attending nurse, Judith, (same name as my mom's, irony) was fantastic, calm, kind, nurturing. She took fantastic care of me and did not treat me like I was a hindrance. I want to say, Emily?, she took me to xray and was great and we had a nice chat about water shoes, Ecuador and earthing, there was another who did the administrative (long black hair and pretty eyes, she was cool too. I remember she had cool flower tats on her arm. Even the security guard at the entrance was super cool. The attending dr, was nice, kind and had a great bedside manner, not something I am used to from er drs. Ooh there was also a nice nurse who did my ekg. Overall despite being there under scary-ish circumstances w/super hi bp from crazy hip/back pain and stress, they made me feel welcome and cared for. The whole facility was nice, clean and modern. Every care worker in the halls, while i was being moved around was kind. It was a nice calming energy for a place that see lots of trauma and stress. So yes this is the first time I am giving 5 stars not only to TGH but an er. I am grateful for how kind and respectful the entire staff was to me yesterday, New Year's eve, when everyone should be allowed to rest w/fam & friends and bring in the new year with joy. Thank you. Happy New Year 2026!

High-risk patient (aortic stenosis) pressured into trainee surgery -- canceled on surgery day…read more My hernia surgery at Tampa General Hospital was scheduled for February 19, 2026. I have aortic stenosis and was told I'm high risk, so clear communication and informed consent were critical. My pre-admission appointment was February 4, 2026 at 11:30 AM. During pre-admission, I was presented with a disclosure form allowing a student/fellow/resident to perform the surgery. I declined to sign and clearly told staff I did not consent to a fellow/resident performing my procedure. On the day of surgery, while I was being prepared, I was told by Dr. Adham Saad that because TGH is a training hospital, a fellow would be doing the surgery. Dr. Saad said he would be scrubbed in the room "next to the fellow," but he would not be the one performing the operation--only supervising. For a high-risk cardiac patient, that is not calming or reassuring. It felt like a coercive ultimatum: accept a trainee as the primary surgeon or lose your surgery. When I refused again, I was told the surgery would be canceled and that I'd need to find a private doctor/hospital if I wanted only the attending surgeon to perform the operation. If Dr. Saad is already going to be scrubbed in and present, it is unacceptable to pressure a patient--especially a high-risk patient--into a surgery they did not consent to, then cancel at the last minute when they stand their ground. Regardless of being a teaching hospital, patients still have the right to informed consent. This should have been clearly addressed long before surgery day, not when the patient is already prepped and vulnerable. This process caused unnecessary delay, stress, and disruption to my care.

No wait at all, which was really nice. They gave me Tylenol for the pain and did an x-ray on my foot in the room. I was thankful I didn't have to be moved unnecessarily and they were able to come to me. I did registration on the tablet they had which was pretty quick. It turned out my foot was just bruised and not broken or sprained. So I am just elevating it at home. I did get crutches and they did wrap my foot with an ace bandage. I had a fall when trying to use them, but I also already have poor balance. I was okay either way. It was a relatively quick experience. They elevated my foot on the bed while I waited when I first arrived too. Everything was comfortable and all staff were nice. My nurse, Keishla, was also really nice and quick with everything. She helped me off the floor after I fell and made sure I was okay. Even environmental asked if I was okay, since water spilled because I fell. All in all, it was a good experience and I would definitely come back here in the future.

There were a few people waiting in the lobby, I checked in with the front desk guy, I asked how long the wait would be and he said there were 8 people ahead of me. I was a little alarmed because my bp was bouncing between 170-180/100's, not safe. So I waited a few minutes and gathered my thoughts and turned and explained to the man, I get their are other people here but my bp is too high to just sit around and wait. So I was quickly brought back and asked what was up and had my bp taken by a very nice and caring man. He agreed it was way too hi to sit around. Then the NP, Regina came in. She said it was too high and she wanted me to go to the er to get the proper care. She wrote out a script and said this would move me to the front if they were busy. She reassured me it was the best solution she had for me. I was grateful I was in and out of there in 10 minutes because their triage system worked and I advocated for myself calmly. Later that evening, around 7 after I returned home from the er and was resting I received a call that said "healthcare." Thinking it was the hospital, I answered and it was NP Regina calling to ck up on me. She said she was worried about me and wanted to make sure I received propert care at the er. I told her what they did and she she was relieved. We wished each other a Happy New Year, and I went back to sleep. This is the first time ever that I felt cared for in a scary er/urgent care sitch.
