UPDATE 6/9/2020 Picked up my car today exactly 5 weeks after dropping it off. The mechanic did NO work other than replace My brakes, remove the air intake Manifold, and order the replacement engine and parts. In total I paid 4200.00!!! 2500.00 - Remanufactured engine ( not installed and old engine not removed) 600.00 - parts ( not installed) 550.00 - brakes installed 600.00 - research and diagnostic labor When I asked why my car was not done after 5 weeks the response was Covid, mechanics quit and other vehicles were being difficult. If you have seen my posts you might gather Im fair in my reviews. There is SO MUCH MORE that I could say but in the spirit of of a fair impartial review Ill will just leave the pros and cons of this "shop" and let YOU decide if you would bring your vehicle to this establishment. I came here to get the MD state inspection done for my car. I chose to sit there and wait rather than leave and come back. They offered me bottled water, and they also have complimentary coffee available. They were quick and honest with the inspection. I only needed to change my rear tires, for which they charged a fair price. I decided to return the next morning for the tire change and to complete the inspection. If you fail the inspection, you can either have them complete the required repairs or go elsewhere for the repairs and return to complete the reinspection for no additional charge. read more

First off, it's nice to have a local business act with integrity and honesty when asking for advice about automotive repairs. After being told during a routine maintenance appointment for my Toyota, at the dealership, they informed me the brakes were in dire need of replacement. "This is bordering on dangerous" speech. Fast forward three days and after 5 minutes I'm informed that the Toyota dealer must have been having a slow day. It's comforting to have someone walk you through their process and show you the result they achieved. More so when plenty of businesses treat women like they can barely turn over the engine without crying. Took care of my MD State inspection here today. TG Auto was able work around their schedule to accommodate and get me in on the same day. Took them about an hour. I appreciated that they didn't try to upsell me on any uneeded repairs or issues since I knew the vehicle was in great shape. Tells me they are likely honest and not trying to pull the wool over on customers for uneeded items. Staff was friendly and the office was clean. Waiting area was quiet and spacious. Drove up to Maryland, from Virginia, last week to transfer a car to my daughter, which generated a mandatory inspection. I had an appointment at a national chain automotive store, but when I got there they told me they no longer did inspections. I asked the attendant for a referral to a reputable, trustworthy, garage; he referred me to TG Automotive. When I got there, Tom (owner) said he didn't have any available time slots. After explaining that I was stuck with just that day to get this done, he worked me into his busy schedule. I greatly appreciated his outstanding customer service. The waiting area was tidy and clean. After the inspection he spoke to me instead of at me regarding recommendations for my car. I was looking to get some work done on my Honda CR-V and tried TG Automotive near where I lived. I spoke with the owner Tom and was quite impressed. Tom is a local guy grew up close to his shop and about a block from my house. My schedule was booked this week and Tom was able to gave me an appointment when I had time available. He took the car when promised, and finished when promised. All work was done well, he replaced all 4 struts and did an alignment. All at a very reasonable price, I highly recommend this repair shop. Don't go there, I had my car alignment but my car still was not straight went back to fix it the result was still the same they made me waited for 3 hours. The bad thing was I can't tell if there was a mechanic was working on my car or not because the back door closed no window or small glass door that you can see through if your car was fixed or not or being touch. My advice If you want to get your car fix go to the place where you actually see a mechanic works on your car. In my situations, I can't went back to see if my car was fixed or not. I felt like they just lets my car sit there for few hours not being touch then say it's done. Good luck! read more

Had my car towed there after breaking down. His quote for the main part it needed was much higher than what I found online. First he said that was b/c the car is an import. When I told him the prices I looked up were specifically for the make, model and year, he said it was b/c of the warranty. The prices I saw were for new parts. The receipt he gave me showed the part was refurbished. It was also listed as "standard". It was not some exotic part that needed to be imported. I did a search for the NAPA part number and found that another shop in the area had the same exact part in stock for half the price. The guy lied to my face, and took advantage of my situation. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I had tested their upcharging prices. Knowing what a starter costs and asking what they charge for the part alone was up charged $110 dollars more than other places I had contacted. On top of that, their service charge was over that amount as well, all together the total price comes to over $450 to install a starter. It was very dishonest, although I'm not surprised when they had 'inspected' my vehicle and seen that I was a younger female who just moved to Maryland, I figured they were going to upcharge me. What I didn't expect was that much for my vehicle to pass inspection and later when I wanted to install a starter. Dishonesty takes me out for the count. read more

I sent an email quote and Tom got back to me right away, and we scheduled an appointment for Saturday which was awesome! It was done in about three hours (I wasn't in a rush) and we picked it up easy breezy! It's an older car and I was afraid of the inspection list being long - especially coming to a new place and having a bad experience previously with an inspection elsewhere... (Different vehicle) Nope!! All my car needed was two front tires - the only reason TG isn't installing them is because I have a friend that works for NTB. Excellent experience and service! Took my van to TG Automotive after being recommended by a friend. I went to get the 2 front brake lines replaced and to have a Maryland vehicle safety inspection done. After they per-maturely performed the inspection, which they knew full well wouldn't pass do to the brakes, they quoted me over $400 just to replace 2 brake lines. I guess they didn't realize that I knew a thing or two about automotive work and knew that price was grossly outrageous. After speaking with both my friend and another mechanic they both conformed that quote was ridiculously over priced. After calling Tom (the owner) back and informing him that I wouldn't be getting the work done with him he proceeded to tell me that he was going to charge me $79 for the safety inspection that he knew I wouldn't pass due to the brake job that I took to him to fix in the first place. TG Automotive is a complete rip off and have shady business practices. If this review prevents just one person from getting ripped off by this guy I would be happy. Needless to say neither my friend nor myself will ever recommend this place to anyone. read more
