I was sent here by someone at Auto Zone and am so glad they did! My 2009 Highlander has just over 206k miles on it and I knew it could go much longer if I addressed specific needs. I started with a "simple" inspection (simple does not equal shallow) and received a detailed printout of everything necessary and recommended, along with prices for the work. Several things I could take care of myself at home, but for the big stuff I trusted them to do at a fair price. I could not be happier! The work was done timely and in comparing to other shops, at a very competitive rate. All three times it has been completed before promised. But the other place where EMP *shines* is the customer service! Chrystal and Cam (front office) are personable and friendly. They made me feel welcome right from the start. I get updates as needed, both by phone calls and emails. And tbh, it's refreshing to do business with someone who just hits all the right notes - including listening to me ramble, joking with me, and talking about cars we like. I took my vehicle here with an electronic malfunction (dash lights would all light up after 15 min running). I explained my problem to the girl up front, even going as far as showing her a video of the problem in action. Then I asked if I could show and explain the problem to the mechanic and was told that that would not be necessary as their electronic specialist could fix anything. Fast forward a few days later I started receiving emails and text about having other work done outside of what I asked to have repaired (tune up, oil change, brake job, tires, etc). I immediately called and asked if my car had been repaired. I was told "No", but we did do a bumper to bumper inspection and noticed some other things in need of repairing. I explained to them that I was very clear in explaining to them what I needed repaired... nothing else. I then asked them why I would need a tune-up, brakes or new tires if I can't drive the damn car longer than 15 minutes??? Several weeks later I received notice to come pickup my vehicle as it could not be fixed. Upon picking up my car I was handed a bill for $1500. I asked, what's this for? I was told it was the charge for the bumper to bumper inspection (that I never asked for) and for the mechanic "trying" to fix my car. Not wanting to create too much of a scene I expelled a few choice words to them, paid the crooks and left. Upon further inspection of my vehicle I noticed that my radio was on, but had no sound. I couldn't change the radio station as the buttons no longer worked and I couldn't access any of the settings. Pulling the radio out of the dash for further inspection I was shocked to see several "LIVE" cut wires and also under my dash at the OBD2. I ended up having to take my car to Tate Dodge in Glen Burnie, MD to repair the cut wires and electronic problem. They repaired the wires and also solved the problem with the dash lights (that couldn't be fixed) all in 5 days. I also had to send my newly purchased $1700 Alpine head unit back to Alpine to repair the damage by Extra Mile Performance. I do not recommend this place to anyone! They'll do work that you never requested, constantly try and up-sale you on more work and in the end charge you for it all even though you never requested it. Not to mention causing even more damage to your vehicle and mentioning nothing about that too. read more

2 years later and I still cannot say enough good things. Same mustang now with 180,000 miles. I had a few more difficult decisions to make as the car ages. With the crazy car market right now, I didn't want to overcommit to my aging vehicle. EMP has a new app that shows the customer videos and pictures of the issues. It allows the customer to make an informed decision and based on what the mechanic observes. Thankful for EMP, as I hope to hit the 200k mark. read more

This place is the BEST auto shop I have found in a long time. They are VERY professional in the work they do. I had a blown head gasket and other auto shops were telling me that I needed a new engine. After speaking with Jeremy(the owner) we discussed re-building the current engine. We both agreed to that and it was a less expensive option then putting in a new engine. Jeremy kept me informed of the progress of the job. The final price was in the range that we discussed and the work was fantastic. As he went along he made suggestions on what should be done and was not pressuring me on any of the options. Ok, folks. I've recently moved to Laurel & frequent the route 32 stretch of highway between Laurel/Columbia & Annapolis. My little buggy has a few more miles on her than the average 2001 year model Acura. In our recent heat wave when apparently the devil himself was breathing on the DMV for a good few weeks, I found myself in a situation where my car was overheating & my a/c was just no match for the sweltering heat. I'd tried to troubleshoot but to no avail. I was driving home on one of those super hot days, sweating & decided I needed to call for help from a professional. Mechanics are always a little iffy to me. Sometimes you just can't tell who's legit & who's yanking your chain. Being new to the area, I definitely didn't & felt that I'd been burned by a different mechanic nearby so I was hesitant. But I put a little trust in Yelp & figured I'd see what it had to offer me. I found Extra Mile on Yelp, called & ended up stopping by. My first encounter was with Jeremy - the owner. He knew I was coming & he knew I was hot as I'd made clear that my a/c was out. When I got there, he was at the curb to be sure I didn't get lost in the area where they're located & knew where to park. We further discussed issues with the car & he sent it right on back to the techs. Like many mechanics, he not only owns the place but works on clients' cars too. He worked on mine & I must admit, I think my car runs better now than it did even before a/c issues surfaced with it. I waited there for my service. Since this was all pretty spur-of-the-moment, I didn't have a ride on it's way to pick me up but I didn't mind. Jeremy has created an atmosphere at Extra Mile Performance that is clean, comfortable to wait in & FAR better looking than other shops I've visited. It's all well put-together & doesn't make you feel like you'll have motor oil stains on your clothes if you have a seat or as if something just might run across your toes as you sit. I almost didn't feel like I was at a repair shop. I'd say the waiting area can accommodate about 6 -10 people comfortably (most sitting, some standing). It's aesthetically pleasing on the inside & I totally didn't expect it to be so that was a nice surprise. You can tell Jeremy has put thought & effort into making his clients' experience a great one. It shows. He discovered other issues as he performed necessary repairs but not just some random stuff to get me to come back in. He pointed out things that explain some separate issues I'd noticed beforehand. Those issues were less pressing but I'll be back to have Jeremy handle them. In the sometimes-rough-&-tumble, uncertain, often shady world of auto repair, a fair-priced, honest, expertly knowledgeable, professional yet all-together pretty cool guy of a mechanic is hard to find. I've found that in Extra Mile Performance. I really do feel like their motto is true - something like "they go the extra mile so your car can too". I'll definitely be back. read more

Recently called to get a quote for some work I needed done to my vehicle. Jeremy answered the phone and instantly I was greeted with a voice if someone who cares about customers. After speaking with him a little while he gave me the estimate and told me I could drop the car off anytime. He went out of his way to make sure that I was welcome and it showed. Like someone else mentioned upon arrival before I got out of the car he was I the door way greeting me. I went into the facility and man it was nice. Good size waiting area and nicely furnished. As someone else mentioned this isn't your normal waiting area where your Adrian's you will catch a staff infection or bedbugs from sitting in the chairs. It was open inviting and clean. I turned my car over to him and got a call a few hours later says it was ready. Jeremy was easy to talk to, so was his mechanic, and the receptionist working the counter and I believe they are reliable and trust worthy people. It was all a very different experience from all of the other shops I the area. I am picky about who I let touch my cars and I will say I may have found the place I will go to if I can't do it myself. read more
